Hi everyone

I have a lot of weight to lose and really really struggling. Have been on so many diets I have lost count and never seem to be able to stick to anything. I have realised that today it is exactly 8 weeks until I go on holiday and I had really wanted to lose weight and feel better about myself before then and suddenly it's coming round so quickly so I'm hoping that will help motivate me. Is anyone else interested in challenging themselves to lose as much as they can in that time??

xx

Happy Easter philippefellope! Enjoy your day darling!! I had some pizza and my beloved dark chocolate sugar free mini eggs and it was just perfect!! Smile

bodgersmash · 22/04/2019 09:38

Well done to everyone with losses! I'm back up to 10 stone 3.8 Blush

Going to enjoy today and then start the south beach diet tomorrow. So far I've only been tracking calories, apparently unsuccessfully, so hopefully a more structured plan will help.

Whereisthewine · 23/04/2019 08:52

In its hoping I’m not too late to join!!! Currently the heaviest I’ve ever been and it’s getting me down 😔 12st and would love to get down to 10st, which seems impossible just now. Have been cutting back on carbs last few weeks and also cut out snacking. Have never weighed myself before but will do every week from now on to try and keep track!

FrazzledCareerWoman · 23/04/2019 09:25

Not weighing myself this week as on my period and it will not be favourable. However post Easter weekend I'm now back onto

Breakfast - coffee with oat milk 50 cal
Lunch - Huel shake (I can only manage two scoops which is about 300 cal as it's so filling)
Dinner - whatever i feel like (hard to overeat after fasting most of the day weirdly)
Drinking 2L of water over the day

Finding it not that hard to stick to! Which is encouraging

As soon as I can start exercising again (I've had a horrible cold for two weeks) I'll increase my intake slightly.

PhillipeFellope · 23/04/2019 09:44

Welcome whereisthewine I sense we may continue past the 8 week mark so jump in!

Ive not weighed in either FrazzledCareerWoman I don't trust my scales as I don't think they're accurate , I'll use my mother's later in the week. Excited to get back into the routine, I haven't been able to get to the gym and I'm missing it! Back on the salad and lean protein now too. I decided to go mad and have a rice crispy cake last night and absolutely thoroughly enjoyed it Grin

deadparrot · 23/04/2019 10:04

Hi everyone and welcome whereisthewine - a question I"ll be asking myself this week as I plan to ditch the booze and get with the programme - I thought I was doing quite well but after two nights away over Easter am right back to where I started four weeks ago at 11'9!! ARGH!! Pretty fed up with myself right now.

I'm really trying not to do a crash diet thing as want the change to be sustainable but I think my idea of 'eating reasonably' just ends up veering too close to what I was already doing. So - this time with feeling! You guys are my inspiration.

PhillipeFellope · 23/04/2019 10:13

deadparrot Glycemic index, stuck to religiously. It is a lifestyle/way of thinking change but its loosely what I've been doing. We did it as a family a few years ago for six months and all of us lost between 2 and 3 stone. I've attached a pic of the book we were using. Its not faddy and it is sustainable long term. It had a whole section for weight maintenance after the initial weight loss. Don't be disheartened, you can and will do it! It's just hugely frustrating! And it's probably water weight too. Don't discount that. Get back on the horse, you'll feel different again by the end of the week.

Anyone interested in an 8 week challenge??
deadparrot · 23/04/2019 10:24

Phillipe I am literally going on Amazon immediately. Thank you! xx

FrazzledCareerWoman · 23/04/2019 13:44

@deadparrot don't be disheartened, I bet it's just water retention. My Fitbit app shows the weight trend and the average for the week which tends to be better as it smoothes out the fluctuations. Weighing yourself every day seems like the numbers are random but the trend is generally right!

I want to make sustainable changes too however I am now at the hardest part of the weight loss which is the last stone, hence my fasting/shake regime. It's just easier for me not to have to count calories this way. However I don't want to lose muscle so keeping protein intake high and weight training.

Maintenance will be easy in comparison!

deadparrot · 23/04/2019 14:09

Thank you frazzled. Much appreciated Smile In awe of your regime! How much have you lost so far and how much to go?

FrazzledCareerWoman · 23/04/2019 14:28

I have only been on the shakes for lunch for about a week and lost 1kg probably water

But I have lost 12kg since having my son 8 months ago. No breakfast (just coffee), eggs and veggies for lunch (sometimes with toast); normal dinner, 1 beer, did CrossFit and yoga 3x per week.

Since going back to work I have not been able to exercise much at all so the weight loss stalled.

Starting weight 77kg
Current weight 65.2kg
Goal weight 58kg

Pre pregnancy I was maintaining 56-58 comfortably

Whereisthewine · 23/04/2019 14:50

Thanks everyone. So far today I've had a slice of whole meal toast, salad with tuna, olives, tomatoes and some chicken breast. Thinking omelette for dinner...does the GI diet require a lot of measuring things? I'm so disorganised!

deadparrot · 23/04/2019 14:59

Frazzled you have done amazingly. Not far to go at all!

FrazzledCareerWoman · 23/04/2019 16:03

Thank you - over half way at least!

PhillipeFellope · 23/04/2019 16:05

deadparrot it's honestly a game changer, you'll notice results quite swiftly, but its good for you too.

whereisthewine No, no weighing, GI is done on plate size, portion control and eating stuff that keeps you full for longer. Slow release energy and fruit and veg. It really is easy once you get the basics of it. And the recipes included are nice too. We still have sloppy Joe's and meatloaf from our first round of GI Grin

Well done FrazzledCareerWoman you're doing so brilliantly! You'll be at your goal in no time!

VivaFrida · 25/04/2019 11:55

Morning, just checking in reporting another small loss of 0.5kg -

starting weight at the beginning of the challenge (24/3): 65.7kg
today (25/4): 61.3kg
goal at end of challenge (22/5): 59kg (2.1kg to go)

I have lost 4.4kg in about a month so far - I shall take that gladly!

I do 'old ww style' diary (pro points) and I workout daily - exercise really helps me as curbs my anxiety, which is what makes me overeat.

VivaFrida · 25/04/2019 11:57

Sorry 61.3-59=2.3 not 2.1! I hope it's a typo rather a airhead moment... but not sure about that!! Grin Grin Grin

deadparrot · 25/04/2019 21:00

Well done @VivaFrida and thank you @, I am finally on a roll with the GI approach. Yay - I can eat (a little bit of) bread again! And the ‘no sugar’ rule is actually easier than trying to navigate and negotiate. It is v simple and makes sense. So, thank you! Xx

FrazzledCareerWoman · 25/04/2019 21:09

That's amazing @VivaFrida well done 🙌🏼

Scales still stubbornly 66.0 but I saw a couple of tease 65s last week so hope a few more days will place me permanently in the under 66kg range!

FrazzledCareerWoman · 25/04/2019 21:11

I have been able to stick to my regime pretty easily; only had a couple of slices banana bread as an extra treat today. I'm just SO FED UP of being overweight that I am NOT GIVING UP SO HELP ME GOD UNTIL I FIT INTO MY NICE CLOTHES AGAIN

cheers 🥂

PhillipeFellope · 25/04/2019 21:16

Viva that's awesome!! Well done! 4.4K is AMAZING!! I bet you're really chuffed!

deadparrot I'm so glad you're finding it positive! I genuinely recommend GI to everyone. I think it's ace! You will notice the difference in how you look and feel really quickly.

FrazzledCareerWoman it'll be dropping off you soon enough, it's just so frustrating when the scales don't move.

I haven't weighed myself yet this week. Am going to make the effort to tomorrow. I don't trust our scales even though they're new so I'll pop down to my mother's and use hers. I've been having muesli and berries with yoghurt for lunch. Salad and chicken or egg or whatever for cheese. Really seeing a difference in my skin and nails, hair too. Nutrition, who knew!? Grin

bodgersmash · 25/04/2019 21:27

You guys are all doing brilliantly! Well done everyone.

I've been trying to Slim Fast for three days. Except I'm eating like a horse too! So wasted effort really. You're all totally inspiring... I WILL get back on the blimming wagon if it kills me 🙈

small2018 · 25/04/2019 21:47

I've been crap and I'm on my period so feeling crap too!

Oysterbabe · 26/04/2019 08:49

Hi!
Sorry I haven't been keeping up, I'll read back.
Weigh in today and I've lost 1lb which I'm delighted with after 4 days of chain eating BBQ and chocolate 😂😂
I hope you're all well.

FrazzledCareerWoman · 26/04/2019 09:59

I have not lost a gram in 3 days stuck at 66! Annoying but keeping on going. Have been very sedentary this week though
