Hi everyone

I have a lot of weight to lose and really really struggling. Have been on so many diets I have lost count and never seem to be able to stick to anything. I have realised that today it is exactly 8 weeks until I go on holiday and I had really wanted to lose weight and feel better about myself before then and suddenly it's coming round so quickly so I'm hoping that will help motivate me. Is anyone else interested in challenging themselves to lose as much as they can in that time??

xx

whothefuckhas5children - how do you prepare overnight oats with yogurt and grapes please?

whothefuckhas5children · 12/04/2019 13:07

Vee well done on the loss!
Viva - it probably very similar to your breakfast. I put oats, natural yogurt and grapes in a jar. Mix together. Refrigerate overnight. The next morning I take out of the fridge and let it come to room temperature before eating. Couldn’t be simpler.

Today I’m being less strict.
B - I went out for breakfast with friends and had lovely eggs, toast and hollandaise sauce.
L - I’d already made overnight oats so I’ll have those for lunch instead.
D - I plan on having some wine tonight with dinner and I have cauliflower in so I might just have a whole plate of cauliflower cheese too!

I’ve already done 10,000 steps!

Hi everyone and thank you for the ongoing inspiration! wtfh5c mouthwatering pics! I've lost 1lb since Monday but still been struggling, swinging from being brilliant to eating an entire bag of the kids' chocolate eggs. And then just as I was about to get going it was my birthday so boozy dinner out. (I insisted on no cake though, which surely earns me some virtue points.)

So I've given up trying to eat like a sensible adult and have decided to go back to the trusty old 5:2, which has helped me in the past. Today will be:

B - pack blueberries
L - HUGE plate of lettuce, cucumber, olive, parsley and a few tomatoes with dressing and shredded ham for lunch
D - family meal - fishcakes - with another huge pile of salad and berries for pud

And managed bodypump and a 45 min dogwalk. At least feel like I'm on a roll. All I have to do is steer clear of the wine tonight.

I'm going to do 2 fastdays a week and then stick to one a week forever. Finally feeling a bit more hopeful about my impending weigh in...

Have a lovely weekend everyone xx

whothefuckhas5children · 12/04/2019 20:37

Parrot it’s good to figure out a way of eating that works for you. I’m trying to do the same.

Dinner tonight was cod with olives & ras el hanout (same as last night but I did buy a massive bit of fish yesterday), with cauliflower and parsley sauce (double pound ortion than what’s in the photo) and my DH salad of roast peppers, tomatoes, feta and coriander. Came in at 630 cal. Well worth it. Am washing it down with wine so will be at maintenance calories tonight but will be well worth it!

Tomorrow I will be hosting dinner with friends and have planned a 5 course meal so will definitely not be counting calories tomorrow evening.

Anyone interested in an 8 week challenge??

Well done parrot that's awesome! You're all doing so well!

Calories done count when you eat with friends wtfh5c Grin your recipes look absolutely immense!

Oysterbabe · 13/04/2019 09:10

I was just reading about the whoosh effect. Maybe it explains my sudden big loss this week.

Well done everyone. I've been off the radar since Wednesday due to a friends wedding. I've eaten and drunk to excess, but plan to get back to it tomorrow. It's been a pretty emotional time as DP is preparing to move out at the moment so I need to not slip in the habit of comfort eating.

What's everyone got for dinner tonight?

FrazzledCareerWoman · 13/04/2019 17:21

Hi I'd like to join please

8 months post baby and I've lost 12kg but I have another 8kg to go and I'm stuck !!
Going back to work has meant I'm too tired and busy to exercise so I need to be stricter on diet and try to fit exercise in when I can

I have ordered Huel as it will make it easier for me to count calories

I already do IF so don't eat 8pm-12 noon except for an oat milk coffee in the morning
Dinner is my weakness so replacing that with a 400 cal huel shake
Usually have sushi or salad for lunch

PhillipeFellope · 13/04/2019 19:11

Sorry you're having a tricky time bodge Flowers you deserve to enjoy special occasions! I love a wedding. How was the food? What did you have?

Welcome FrazzledCareerWoman if it makes you feel any better my ds is 2.5 and I still haven't shifted the baby weight, I just added more on Grin

No gym today and determined to get to 10k steps so I'm walking up and down the length of our house till my fitbit buzzes! Been having an apple for breakfast, or berries. Half a tin of soup (shared with da) for lunch and then am having salad gf or dinner. Planning on splurging tonight and I've got a posh yoghurt and an eat natural cereal bar (with peanuts and chocolate!) I'm allowing myself one a week on a Saturday or I'd eat the whole packet!

Gemi33 · 13/04/2019 19:16

Well done everyone- very embarrassing that I started the thread and you are all doing so well and I have failed completely! I haven't been well the last couple of weeks and had a couple of hospital visits so generally been a bit of a rubbish time and clearly diet has gone out the window and now only 5 weeks until my holiday so not likely to make much of a dent but will try my best.

xx

Welcome frazzled and hello gemi Sorry to hear things difficult bodge. Flowers

I have finally found the strength to start overcoming my cravings and am getting into the swing of it. Though a bit ratty with the family I must admit!

My other half has worked out a very low cal recipe for toad in the hole so had yum comfort food tonight without massive guilt trip. And will be having wine. Planning next fast day for Monday. Anyone else 5:2ing it? frazzled what is IF?
Have a great rest of weekend all x

FrazzledCareerWoman · 13/04/2019 20:29

Intermittent Fasting 👍🏼

bodgersmash · 13/04/2019 21:44

@PhillipeFellope the wedding was fab - food was mango and Brie parcels, sausage and mash, and three mini puddings for dessert. The wedding cake was also divine and I ate far too much of it.

Back to healthy food tomorrow. Managed 13,000 steps today so hopefully that will have offset some of the bread, bread, more bread and chocolate that I've been stuffing my face with.

Welcome back @Gemi33 and welcome @FrazzledCareerWoman

It's great to have you all here, on other occasions I would have written off the diet after three days of overindulging but knowing you're all still here is making me determined to get back to it. ThanksGin

Oysterbabe · 14/04/2019 06:26

I do fasting too Parrot but 4:3, with 4 being the fast days. We can starve together on Monday :)

3littlerabbits · 14/04/2019 07:43

Bread is my nemesis bodger, I’ve been there with eating too much of it. It’s so delicious though Blush Sorry to hear things are tough at home for you Flowers

Frazzled, my baby is 6... years not months Grin I can really relate to the return-to-work exhaustion. It does get better eventually.

I was talking to a friend who's a doctor and she said she frequently recommends IF to overweight patients. I’m still sticking to no sweet food (can’t believe I’ve managed 5.5 weeks now!) After this holiday I might try the fasting. Depends how my weight is looking when I get back. At the minute I feel great but the mirror is showing zero difference.

3littlerabbits · 14/04/2019 07:43

That was a bit long sorry!

deadparrot · 14/04/2019 10:30

Oyster your 3:4 puts my 5:2 to shame. No wonder you've had incredible weight loss this week, whooshing or not!

Having worked out what IF is, I often don't eat 8pm till midday next day anyway - except nightly wine which is my major weakness. I allow for the calories but maybe should just jack it in unless I'm going out. I have a SEN kid who can be reeaeeally challenging and I like that it gets my stress levels down in 5 seconds flat! Or I could just start drinking earlier and be done by 8pm... Grin

VivaFrida · 14/04/2019 11:45

Hello! Reporting loss so far since on the start of the challenge: 2.9kg (6.3 pounds). ROAR Grin I can do this!! Grin Grin Grin.

I try to have a sustainable diet, lifestyle-change-not-a-diet and all that faff.

FrazzledCareerWoman · 14/04/2019 13:38

Well done @VivaFrida that's amazing!

I'm on my way back from Italy so have eaten all the nice things the last four days but this is my plan from now. I need a significant deficit and strict plan to break this plateau.

Diet plan next 4 weeks starting 15 April
• Oat milk flat white 50 cal
• Huel for lunch 400 cal (increase portion if can’t get to 1200 with dinner calories)
• Dinner whatever is going, up to 750 cal but record macros
• Drink 2L of water per day
No bread 🥖*
No beer 🍺 *
Target to get to 62kg after 4 weeks
If works continue until 58kg (8 weeks?)
Starting weight 66kg (check Monday morning!)

VivaFrida · 14/04/2019 14:29

Thank you FrazzledCareerWoman and best of luck for next week!!

PhillipeFellope · 14/04/2019 20:30

Viva that's amazing!! Well done! I'm doing similar, trying to make it long term.

frazzled you absolutely can do it! You will do it! And you will be awesome at it!!

deadparrot I'm only just understanding what intermittent fasting is too, I think I do it accidentally occasionally. What do you limit yourself to calorie wise on your fast days?

I've completely cut out sugar in my tea and that's what I'm missing most I think, I don't enjoy a brew in the same way anymore. But that could also be the absence of biscuits that used to accompany it Grin

small2018 · 14/04/2019 21:03

Can I jump back in? I've not been well the last couple of weeks but back with it tomorrow if you'll still have me?

Well done to you all, you're all doing brilliantly.

PhillipeFellope · 14/04/2019 22:02

Welcome back *small.!!

VivaFrida · 14/04/2019 22:32

Thank you PhillipeFellope - "But that could also be the absence of biscuits that used to accompany it"... I hear your pain sistah!! I am away from work in a hotel room and it did take a lot of nerve to put the free biscuits away but instead eat my porridge with banana. Hmm

Welcome back small2018!!

PhillipeFellope · 15/04/2019 08:01

No loss today, still at 10,10 which is quite disheartening as I haven't cheated with my food or even had any treats. I had a feeling it would be a disappointing day down to hormones but its still a kicker to see it on the scales.

Aah well, onto a new week! This week I aim to drink my water intake every day. Husband suggests cutting my sugar intake by a quarter but all my sugar comes from fruit and veg so I'm reluctant to cut top much as I aim to have a minimum of 8 portions a day. I'm hovering at about 800-850 calories a day. Might see how I go for another week and then reevaluate.
