Hi everyone

I have a lot of weight to lose and really really struggling. Have been on so many diets I have lost count and never seem to be able to stick to anything. I have realised that today it is exactly 8 weeks until I go on holiday and I had really wanted to lose weight and feel better about myself before then and suddenly it's coming round so quickly so I'm hoping that will help motivate me. Is anyone else interested in challenging themselves to lose as much as they can in that time??

xx

Rabbit - enjoy the holiday. Whatever happens you’re still coming home healthier having given up excess sugar

Oyster - hope the household gets better soon

Bodgers - that will be a great weight loss!

Phillipe - I think I’ll start to be mindful of the amount of veg I have. I don’t think I’ll get to 8-10 servings but if I can get the variety then that will be a start

The recipe is a Meera Sodha one. I’ve made the sauce before and it’s lovely on any green vegetable. I haven’t tried the koftas themselves yet but I’ve found that most of her recipes work. I don’t put almonds in the sauce and it still is thick enough.

Report on the koftas: they worked out really well. Omitted the Chilli Powder as wanted DD to taste. Probably added a little too much ginger to the sauce for her but she said she’d like it to take some to school for tomorrow. So result!

I took double the amount of sauce as I wasn’t having rice. Added a raita also. And all for under 450 calories. Double result!!

Dinner turned out to be a huge plate of salmon, peppers, spinach, onions done in a ginger, sesame and soy sauce. Again under 450 calories. Yum!
Does anyone else have any recipes for low calories please?

Dinners tonight are looking great!

@whothefuckhas5children I'm using an app called LifeSum to track calories etc and it has a huge recipe section which I've found great. I am on the paid version though, I'm not sure what the difference is between the paid and free versions in terms of available recipes.

Hi whothefuck try these two:

Oysterbabe · 10/04/2019 07:01

The food looks great. I'm glad I didn't post mine, DH described it as slop 😂
I peeked at the scales this morning and it's looking good for Friday's weigh in. I can recommend a stomach bug as a good way to undo eating a fucktonne of pizza.

PhillipeFellope · 10/04/2019 07:40

Those dinners look gorgeous wtfh5c I'm definitely trying those!

Ive got a couple of low calorie gousto recipes I'll post which are my go-to for DS and dh.

Good work oyster Grin might as well have some perks out of feeling rotten!

VivaFrida · 10/04/2019 10:38

Very quickly, reporting a tiny loss of 0.3kg but lost 2.1kg since the beginning of the challenge so happy with that! Have a lovely day all.

Well done Viva

Have added pics of a gousto Moroccan chickpea stew recipe. It's delicious and about 350 calories. Really filling and keeps you full for ages.

Bodgers, viva and fillipe -
Ooo! Thank you for the new recipes! Will have a good look through.
Oyster good luck on Friday (my WI day too)
Viva - well done on the loss. And overall it’s a tremendous trend down.

Today
B - overnight oats with yogurt and grapes (I really love this meal!)
L - salmon with new potatoes, broccoli, samphire and I made a salsa verde. Had to have butter on salmon while cooking and on the potatoes but limited it to 15g.
D - two fried eggs, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, onion and parmesan(a little).

I think that’s 8 types of fruit and veg so that’s one tick.

Off to do a walk now to get another tick! Well behind on my 10,000 steps (only at 5,000)

3littlerabbits · 10/04/2019 20:45

How are you tracking your steps, wtfh5c? I’ve can see steps on my phone but I don’t carry it around all the time and also not sure if it can count steps while in my handbag? (I’m a bit technically challenged 😳😭😁)

whothefuckhas5children · 11/04/2019 04:54

Rabbit - I have an iPhone. If I have it on me (either in a pocket or small handbag) it records the steps. I think if it’s in a large backpack it can’t track the movements properly.

Oysterbabe · 11/04/2019 07:17

I have a fitbit which I wear 24 7. It tracks my sleep too which is a bit depressing. Bloody kids.

Krman · 11/04/2019 07:50

So sorry I've Been so busy that I haven't thought about posting. So my diet this week has been pretty bad (in fact probably worse than if I wasn't dieting at all) but I've jumped on the scales this morning and currently weigh 68.7kg so another small loss!

3littlerabbits · 11/04/2019 10:55

Thanks wtfh5c & oyster. Mines an iPhone too. I’m going to start checking this. Loads of steps registered on my phone in the last few days but really low while at work last week.

Well done, Krman!

whothefuckhas5children · 11/04/2019 18:41

Kram - well done!

Today
B - overnight oats with natural yogurt and grapes (again, I know Grin!)
L - pea and mint soup
D - Moroccan cod with olives and ras al hanout, sugar snap peas and tender stem broccoli with a small portion of the tomato and ginger sauce and a side of raita. Mixing Moroccan and Indian food but it was TASTY so I don’t care Wink. It was also really filling.

Oysterbabe · 11/04/2019 19:07

Your food always sounds so great wtfh5c.

I had some pasta bolognaise and salad for dinner, heavy on the bolognaise, light on the pasta for me. Weigh in tomorrow then I'm looking forward to a few days of eating 3 meals. I have actually found my fasts really easy this week and I've been feeling good. A few people have commented on my weight loss today so I've had a real spring in my step 😂 2 people in the office have gone from taking the piss out of my diet and saying how unhealthy it must be to declaring they are starting Monday and asking exactly what I do.

PhillipeFellope · 11/04/2019 21:17

Well done oyster it's always so nice when other people notice the effort and weight loss.

That looks amazing wtfh5c really delicious looking! Yum! I could eat that now!

Ive wear a fitbit 3littlerabbits the pedometer on my phone doesn't pick up half of what the watch does even if I have it on me all the time.

I've been sticking to salad, and soup. Fruit as snacks. I'm rubbish for drinking enough water. Keeping up the four nights of cardio but I've just absolutely bloated like a toad with hormonal bloat/water retention today and that only usually disappears after I come off so I'm expecting to have a gain on Mondays weigh in. Bit disheartening but it's one of those things I suppose. Now, to avoid all the chocolate and crisps that I want to stuff in my face. Grin

Oysterbabe · 12/04/2019 07:02

I don't understand how but I've lost 4.8lbs this week. So that's 17.8lbs total and 11lbs to go. I'm only 1lb away from my goal for this challenge. It must be some kind of odd blip but I'll take it for now.

What I'm most pleased about is I've lost every week since starting my new regime, 6 losses in a row. That's pretty unheard of for me.

Oysterbabe · 12/04/2019 07:09

Hooray for tummy bugs 😂

whothefuckhas5children · 12/04/2019 07:48

Oyster that’s amazing!! Well done even if you had to endure a tummy bug.

Phillipe that’s a great amount of exercise!! You will be so healthy after the work you’re putting in.

I’ve lost 1.5kg this week which I’m really happy with. Down to 64.8. When I reach 64 I’m no longer in the overweight category for my height. I’ll be treating myself to a tasty paneer butter masala from my local indian.

5 more weeks on this challenge and 2.8kg until I reach my goal for the challenge (5 or 7 in total).

PhillipeFellope · 12/04/2019 08:02

oyster that's incredible!! Well done!! And six losses in a row is brilliant!! All the hard work is paying off!

wtfh5c that's so good! You're doing so well!! Congratulations! Celebratory Indian meal definitely sounds like a good shout!

I'm still very bloated, hoping I deflate some before Mondays weight in or I might put it off a couple of days. Looking forward to being back in the healthy BMI boundary too, I'm 1.5 points off being in the green Grin

veeboo · 12/04/2019 09:45

Hi all reading the thread but not posting much. I've just weighed at 12 st 9 so that's 2.5 this week and 5 in total. A bit shocked but pleased with that. @oysterbabe hope the bug is gone now and you're okay! But handy for weight loss!

VivaFrida · 12/04/2019 10:27

Hello there lard destroyers buddies, how are you? I am in the middle of a hormonal storm too so various moments of being knackered/emotional/shouting randomly at kids and hubby... I am working from home today so everything is easier/more relaxed.

This is my menu for today:

  • b: 20gr porridge, 75gr 0% greek yogurt, 1/2 banana, strawberries.
-l: omelette (2 eggs) with spinach and babybel light cooked in 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil, 1 orange. d: white fish with 100 gr of boiled potatoes & steamed green beans, 15 gr of light mayonnaise, 0% yogurt.

Exercise: 40 min exercise bike and 40 min x-trainer: done!
Afternoon: walking to shops after work so hopefully earning my 10,000 steps.
