Hi everyone

I have a lot of weight to lose and really really struggling. Have been on so many diets I have lost count and never seem to be able to stick to anything. I have realised that today it is exactly 8 weeks until I go on holiday and I had really wanted to lose weight and feel better about myself before then and suddenly it's coming round so quickly so I'm hoping that will help motivate me. Is anyone else interested in challenging themselves to lose as much as they can in that time??

xx

Good luck @deadparrot

Hope all is ok with your son?

You can do this, we're all here to support and encourage! Brew

deadparrot · 06/04/2019 12:57

Thank you @bodgersmash v kind. Not great re son but further tests needed to find out exactly whats going on, prognosis, whether surgery needed etc. I have to try and remember, cake won't help though Smile

VivaFrida · 06/04/2019 16:07

Lots of good thought and wishes to you deadparrot - I know how is it with work stress. Been there. There is no way out of deadlines. And special good wishes for your son too. Flowers

deadparrot · 06/04/2019 20:16

Thankyou @vivafrida Smile

PhillipeFellope · 07/04/2019 11:50

deadparrot thinking of you, that sounds very stressful. Be kind to yourself.

How is everyone? I'm OK here, can't go to the gym Friday - Sunday due to DHs work schedule and I'm missing the exercise. Never thought I'd hear myself say that this side of 30! Been eating well. Chicken salad, as a treat had one of those posh cereal bars things. Fruit etc. Will have half a tin of soup for lunch and then take ds out for a walk. Roast tea at my mother's house but I'll take a salad with me and just have some of the meat probably. My dad is an amazing cook but he is liberal with butter, oil and honey Grin

I downloaded an app to imput food that checks your calorie I take etc. Nutra something or other and I'm really impressed, takes all the guesswork out!

Also going to pick up my new scales shortly so I can weigh in at my house rather than having to go to my mother's house.

Hope everyone is having a restful and chilled Sunday.

deadparrot · 07/04/2019 12:01

PhilippeFellope thank you, you are all so lovely. You sound super motivated and organised and I'm sure you'll do really well!

I have spent the morning reworking our family routine - we usually eat at 7 which is later than most families we know (kids 10 and 11) and it can take so long to settle them to bed, I don't usually sit down till about 10 - so am always knackered, and then more likely to drink wine, crave sugar the next day etc. It occurred to me that moving everything back by an hour might really help, and I bet the boys won't even notice.

This is not just displacement activity honest! Grin

I am weighing in today at 11'8, same as last week and I will just see that an an achievement that I didn't actually gain bearing in mind what a generally sh*tty week it was. Onwards and upwards.

How are people planning to manage easter, all that chocolate lying around?

dancemom · 07/04/2019 12:19

Morning all
So I forgot to weigh in yesterday and I had a LOT of bread yesterday, a family bar of white chocolate and a LOT of vodka last night but I still lost! I'm down to 10 stone 4.5 lbs now - yippee!
Went and did a body pump class today and I'm going to stick to the plan and hopefully keep losing!
I'll be delighted if I can get under 10 stone again

xamyrose · 07/04/2019 12:32

Weigh 9.12 today. One pound lost :)

VivaFrida · 07/04/2019 12:36

Well done dancemom - 10 stone not far now. And good planning deadparrot! And I second your thoughts: PhillipeFellope is always really lovely to us all - thank you PhillipeFellope.

DH and I went for an early morning hike earlier. We left the house at 8.30 and a few hills later (aargh) came back around 11 cold and famished. Man, omelette never tasted so good. That early start meant that now is only about 12.30 and it feels like 5 in the afternoon to me! More movement later on as I have promised my youngest DS to walk to own to buy swimming shorts. No problem to get to 10,000 steps today!

Regarding Easter I have bought some sugar free belgian choc eggs chez Aldi (I think it's £2.99 for 9), they weigh 12 grams each - they are 2 points in my old WW system, not sure how many calories but I'd guess not many, maybe 50-60. I have one now and again and just one seems to hit the spot without creating that sugar rush that makes me want to eat 10 of them. They are my secret weapon at the moment!

dancemom · 07/04/2019 12:47

@VivaFrida I had a omelette after the gym too and it was soooo good!

Will need to look out for these eggs, could do with a chocolate hit!

bodgersmash · 08/04/2019 07:22

Morning all. I had a baaaaad day yesterday. Started with one mini dairy milk and just spiralled from there. Had one dairy milk, four Jaffa Cakes, three caramel digestives, a full roast dinner with all trimmings and meringues with cream for dinner. Oh, and bananas and custard too. Shock

I think I need to treat myself as a drug addict and accept that I can't just have a bit when it comes to chocolate, it always seems to result in me bingeing.

Back on it today.

Plan: no breakfast, tuna salad for lunch, omelette for dinner. Snacks will be an apple and and orange.

PhillipeFellope · 08/04/2019 08:08

Aww thank you for being so kind! I just feel really fortunate to have located a crowd on the same page as me with regards to weight loss! And I want us all to succeed!

I had a moderately OK yesterday but ended up forgetting my salad to take to my mums, so had a small portion of roast beef, peas carrots and small boiled potatoes (smaller ones have a lower GI) and some gravy but I also had a glass of prosecco 🙈 so by the time we got home I was starving and had an apple and a chewy bar which I shouldn't have needed.

Just weighed in at 10,10 so still a loss but with a resolve to be a bit less lenient with myself and do more cardio.

Happy Monday everyone!

I'm similar bodge one thing leads to another and before I know it I've got my head in a cupboard shovelling mini eggs in Grin Bananas and custard though, I think there's few who could resist that! Hot custard with melted flake on 👌

PhillipeFellope · 08/04/2019 08:18

Viva that's amazing on all your steps and the hike ! Well done!

Brilliant news amy and dancemom excellent losses!!

deadparrot my grandma would always say "a change is as good as a rest" so definitely tweaking your evening routine is worth a try! Easter chocolate wise, DS is only 2.4 but I know he'll get a couple of eggs. I've told my parents e he's limited to one from them, I'll get him one and then any others I'll redistribute to the kids who live up our road. He's got a dolls house and some playdoh for his Easter presents though. (We've always celebrated Easter Sunday with presents for kids in my family)

deadparrot · 08/04/2019 08:32

Bodge I feel for you. That is my kind of day! I feel like my ‘resist rubbish’ muscle is so weak I almost can’t feel it, like a sort of pelvic floor but for chocolate, and I need to practise restraining myself. I’ve managed in the past. Maybe you’re right and cold turkey is the way forward at least at the start. Good luck for today!

By the way doing dinner an hour early worked brilliantly - everyone went to bed an hour earlier without even realising! Hoping the kids will be super easy today as a result and I’m feeling a bit more human and ready to Eat No Crap. Good luck everyone x

whothefuckhas5children · 08/04/2019 16:01

deadparrot sorry to hear your son’s results. I hope it gets better for you shortly.

I’m challenging myself to get to 10,000 steps every day in the 8 week challenge. So far so good! And I definitely have felt the benefit. We had a really lazy Saturday at the weekend so about 3 o’clock I left the house for a walk and just about 75 mins later I’d clocked up my steps.

I was out on Friday and Saturday night (until 3am!! Shock). Ate and drank some lovely food and wine but bed heated for it. Managed to lose a tiny bit over the weekend even with all that going on.

I skipped breakfast today as I was meeting a friend for brunch. Made her a smokie with smoked haddock, smoked salmon, tomatoes, cheddar cheese etc. It was delicious, really filling and well worth the 530 calories Grin.

Dinner will be vegetables. Not sure what yet but I have lovely peppers, spinach and tomatoes in ... Time to put my thinking hat on.

whothefuckhas5children · 08/04/2019 16:02

*bed heated should have read ‘had budgted’

deadparrot · 08/04/2019 17:32

whothefuck I thought bedheating maybe some new hangover cure 😁

whothefuckhas5children · 08/04/2019 19:22

Grin deadparrot!
Dinner today I cooked a roast chicken, roast potatoes, my mums bread stuffing, carrots, sugar snap peas and green beans. I put a lovely garlic butter over the vegetables.

I don’t eat meat so had a small bit of the stuffing, one roast and lots and lots of vegetables. Was still within my calories so was really pleased with that.

Tomorrow’s menu is probably
B: natural yogurt and fruit
L: Courgette kofta with a ginger and tomato sauce
D: baked mushrooms, tomatoes, eggs and feta cheese.

3littlerabbits · 08/04/2019 21:09

That menu sounds delicious @wtfh5c. I’m on hols so can’t weigh myself. I feel like I might have lost weight but I’m generally very over optimistic when it comes to weight loss BlushGrin It’s now just over a month since I quit all chocolate, biscuits, cake, sweets. @bodgers I realised that I’m a full on addict and that it was cold turkey or nothing. Sounds crazy but very true in my case. 21 days to break a habit isn’t true though, I’m still staring longingly at the biscuit cupboard...

Oysterbabe · 09/04/2019 06:47

Well done Rabbits! A month off all that sugar will have done you the world of good.
I've been a bit under the weather with a stomach bug that both the kids have had. But I'm back and hoping that I'll lose at least a lb by Friday so that I'll be a stone down since starting my new regime.
I'll have a proper read back now.

bodgersmash · 09/04/2019 08:22

Nearly a stone down @Oysterbabe that's brilliant! Are you feeling the difference in your clothes?

Weigh in for me today - less than a pound down this week but at least it's going in the right direction. If I can get one more pound next week then I'll be in the next stone down range which will feel great.

New weight - 10st 0.8

3littlerabbits · 09/04/2019 08:32

Well done bodgers! Getting to 9 something would be amazing.

3littlerabbits · 09/04/2019 08:34

Hope you’re feeling better Oyster.

PhillipeFellope · 09/04/2019 09:39

deadparrot like 3littlerabbits I've had to go cold turkey with refined sugar stuff. Biscuits, chocolate etc. I can't just have one Grin and it really will have done you the power of good 3littlerabbits enjoy your holiday! Where abouts are you?

wtfh5c that menu sounds delicious! What is courgette kofka!? I might need the recipe for that!

hope you're feeling better soon oyster contracting kid germs is rotten. A stone is INCREDIBLE!! WELL DONE! What an achievement!! Same To you bodge that's AMAZING!! Congratulations!

PhillipeFellope · 09/04/2019 09:46

I've been sticking with salad. Set myself a challenge get to 8-10 fruit and veg in a day every day and I'm managing it mostly. I had ham salad yesterday for both dinner and tea which I didn't mind because I made made honey roast gammon. Today's breakfast was mixed berries and a cup of tea. Dinner will be half a tin of soup and then tea will be salad. Probably with a chicken breast. Need to get to Aldi and stock up though, we've ran out.

Exercise wise back to the gym last night, 30 mins on the cross trainer. Same for tonight. Once I'm down a bit more weight I'll add in some weight training to tone up hopefully.

Would definitely recommend the app 'nutracheck' if anyone is interested. It's £3.99 a month but I'm really impressed with it. Takes all the guesswork out of calorie and fat counting and does all the thinking and adding for you.
