Half a stone off in March

SingaporeSlinky · 01/03/2019 09:03

Carrying on from the February thread and new joiners welcome, fresh slate for March!

I’ve weighed in today at 10st 1lb so I’m determined to at the very least get down to 9-something this month! Ideally the half stone by the end of March when I go on holiday. Who’s in?

Love a nsv, they're more satisfying than numbers on the scale for me so well done!
I didn't give in. I had a cup of tea and me and DD have danced around a bit. I'm going to do my physio exercises in a minute. On strong painkillers at the moment and I think they contribute to the lethargy and the wine/cake I had yesterday

Crazzzycat · 04/03/2019 15:58

Well done to everyone who’s lost weight already! That’s so motivational.

I measured my waste this morning and I’m down half an inch since last week. That brings my total loss since the start of the year to four and a half inches. I’m a little bit shocked by that, in a good way! Smile

Now I just need this terrible weather to stop so that I can up my exercise again.

TickVG · 04/03/2019 16:03

Whoa amazing waist loss crazzzy,! That is fantastic. Waist has always been my problem area so love to hear success stories. Lots of positivity at that the start of this month- feeling very motivated! Smile

SingaporeSlinky · 04/03/2019 16:16

Well done Crazzzy 4.5 inches is loads!

Well done to everyone seeing results! You got this!

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 04/03/2019 16:37

No change for me this week. Not surprisingly I've snacked a bit so taking it as a win that I've not gained!

Must be better this week. Done my back in so getting to kitchen is too much effort 😂

whatthefoxsaid · 04/03/2019 16:41

Wow what an inch loss! Wish I'd remembered to do measurements! What's for dinner tonight? I'm making a veg curry.

notevenamum1 · 04/03/2019 17:04

Controversial but I have decided not to skip the gym today. I slept so badly last night and i am exhausted. Poured a kettle of boiling water over my hand earlier (by accident of course!) and fear I would accidently kill myself if I did go to the gym. My aim is to go 3x per week so plenty of time to make up for it.

TickVG · 04/03/2019 17:43

Chicken and mushroom stew tea for me - leftovers from last night. Trying to decide whether to have a smaller portion and add potatoes/bread or just leave them off and enjoy lots of stew. Kind of been a stew-y day as I made a Mexican bean soup for lunch (trying to up my fibre) but it's nice and warm and comforting and I've spent a lot of time outside today (trying to avoid the snacks Grin).maintain is better than a gain funky- esp as you have banked some good losses Smile

SingaporeSlinky · 04/03/2019 18:05

noteven sounds like you have a good reason to skip the gym, hope your hand heals quickly!

Quiche and salad for me. Have come in at 931 kcals today, even with a bacon sandwich for lunch.

I logged my 20 mins of running and it’s saying 168 burned, and yet when I walked for an hour the other day, it said 190 burned. That doesn’t seem right, does it? The leisurely walking pace for an hour is so much easier than the run of course, and even though it’s 20 mins, my heart rate must have been much higher than just walking.

ZsaZsaMc · 04/03/2019 19:14

Having chicken stir fry tonight with rice noodles - it’s a WW recipe so not sure of the calories but rice noodles always feel loads more healthy than the egg ones!

Tomorrow having a ‘cheat’ day as it’s pancake day and I want to drink some wine!

I’m off work with my baby at the moment and finding it a lot easier than before because 1) I don’t have a social life in the evening and 2) have the time to faff about making grilled chicken salads for lunch!

I say I’m finding it is easier but it is only week one so probably getting ahead of myself...

thisonebreath · 04/03/2019 19:26

Congratulations SingaporeSlinky. I've pretty much given up on jeans as they are just so uncomfortable around my waist. I'm hoping that I can fit into them again soon.

I've been pretty good today. I had a banana and peanut butter smoothie for breakfast, homemade broccoli and Stilton soup for lunch, homemade chicken curry for dinner - with cauliflower rice and I skipped the naan and poppadoms. I've had some cheese and peanuts for snacks... And I'm hungry! I think it's the fact I'm still breastfeeding - am doing my best to resist toast with biscotti spread. What can I snack on? I had an apple but unsurprisingly it didn't cut it. 😆

MrsVoleTheVet · 04/03/2019 19:38

1,277 logged for me on MFP, not bad- I've set my goal as 1,300 and I earned 120 from my mini run earlier.

I'd do better if I drank more water, less options hot choc... only 40cals, but only if you only have one!

I don't know what goes on with the walk/running calculator on MFP slinky, I just put it in regardless, and hope it's under-estimating rather than over-estimating and therefore encouraging me to eat too much :)

The bean stew dinner sounds nice, whoever posted that!

Thanks for the virtual company during my first day back on the wagon

SingaporeSlinky · 04/03/2019 19:39

Oh I’d forgotten about pancake day! I think I’ll do a few as dessert after a sensible dinner, as opposed to having that FOR dinner like we usually do. I do love a pancake with lemon juice and sugar, I’ll have to be careful! An excuse to walk to the shops tomorrow as I don’t have any lemons.

thisone are you genuinely hungry or do you just fancy something - could a big glass of milk help fill you up a bit? It’s tricky to say with breastfeeding, how many extra calories are you supposed to have?

OP posts:
thisonebreath · 04/03/2019 19:51

Oh no pancake Day! 😁 I've had some carrots and cream cheese so that should do the trick.

thisonebreath · 04/03/2019 20:00

I think I'm allowed an extra 500 calories but my body seems to want them in toast and cake.

TickVG · 04/03/2019 20:07

Hi thisone I'm breastfeeding and have been snacking on olives and raspberries recently. Plus fat free Greek yoghurt and sometimes a small cup of oatmilk gives a lovely sweet satisfying feeling! I ended up bulking out my evening stew with broccoli and peas rather than adding potatoes so am pleased though I did sneak a chicken goujon from DD's leftovers too. Tomorrow I'm going to do myself one of those banana and egg pancakes which I actually quite like even though they're a bit like sweet omelettes. With a tiny sprinkle of baking powder they go nice and spongy and are pretty good with a few berries on the side. But I'm not that fussed about pancakes so can tolerate a substitute. I'd rather have a big slab of chocolate any day!

thisonebreath · 04/03/2019 20:14

Thanks, I'll get some olives in. I've been snacking on cheese and salami but mfp is doing its nut about the amount of fat. 🙄 Nothing really fills me like toast does sadly. This is my third DD so I know the constant hunger will go when I stop breastfeeding.

ZsaZsaMc · 04/03/2019 20:19

thisone and tick I’m impressed that you’re able to diet at all breastfeeding - I’ve only managed to start the diet because I’ve all but virtually given up. I think my weight started to creep up again once as the feeds started reducing! Now I’ve started I wish I had done it earlier.

Pancakes for me is definitely lemon and sugar. So looking forward to them!

tiazz · 04/03/2019 20:27

I've done 9 days in a row doing a high intensity workout/ weight training and I'm absolutely exhausted. Went to a kettlercise class this morning and couldn't go as hard as normal as I did a lot of weights yesterday, felt so angry with myself, and so I just did 15 minutes on the stair climber at home to feel a little better. I've burned 800 calories in exercise today, and walked 15,000 steps so I think I deserve a day off tomorrow (in exercise) might even treat myself to brown toast in the morning!

thisonebreath · 04/03/2019 20:44

I'm definitely having a pancake tomorrow. Lemon and sugar ftw.

I'm going to start the 30 day shed tomorrow u think - I'm impatient and want quick results. I'm motivated by the text that we've booked a holiday to Corfu in August.

whatthefoxsaid · 04/03/2019 20:46

Crikey tiazz I'm aching just reading that!
I didn't get out for my usual walk today and feeling a bit lazy. Will try and do something tomorrow.
Hoping to go to a swimming class on weds, if I can get my back in better shape I should be able to start running again in time for the weather picking up and lighter evenings.

thisonebreath · 04/03/2019 20:49

By the fact, that should say.

VivaFrida · 04/03/2019 20:54

Hello all! Good evening. My dinner was a roast chicken breast and vegetables (peppers, onions, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes) with parsley, lemon and smoked paprika - all roasted together in a pyrex dish the oven for 50 mins - it's very low calories/points and delicious! I served it with peas and mashed potatoes - smaller quantities for me, but we all eat the same - I don't mind weighing my food!

SingaporeSlinky I would say that 20 mins running = 60 mins walking calories wise is pretty much spot on, have a look at this article though: www.runnersworld.com/nutrition-weight-loss/a20843760/running-v-walking-how-many-calories-will-you-burn/

MrsVoleTheVet - Options! Me too! Have you ever tried to combine the options powder with Greek yogurt to make a mousse type thing and then eat it with sliced banana on top and some Choc shot for extra choc-y taste? That really for me hits the spot when I want a lower calories alternative to ice cream - but maybe I am a (very) sad person!

notevenamum1 I also burned my hand with boiling water from a kettle the other day... making a hot water bottle (I live a very glamorous life), not only it hurt like f*ck but now my skin is all red and wrinkly like some kind of creature from another planet. YUK. Hope yours looks better.

ZsaZsaMc - same here, finding it really easy but it's the first week. But maybe that's it? Maybe this time we have cracked it and we shall be sailing successful into the sunset of perfect health and fitness? :D
