Half a stone off in March

SingaporeSlinky · 01/03/2019 09:03

Carrying on from the February thread and new joiners welcome, fresh slate for March!

I’ve weighed in today at 10st 1lb so I’m determined to at the very least get down to 9-something this month! Ideally the half stone by the end of March when I go on holiday. Who’s in?

7lbs per month is an achievable goal.

I would love to see a maintenance thread too as a) I'd find it motivational and b) I really hope to be there soon too, although I haven't really set myself a fixed target yet!

I keep thinking about this. I generally wear size 10 clothes, my BMI is healthy (albeit the top end of healthy!) and therefore I keep trying to weigh up how committed I am to trying to get to say 9st 6lbs, whether that is even achievable, and whether I can be bothered with the amount of effort it would take to get there, not to mention stay there.

I guess under 10 is the first goal, 9st 10lb is the aspirational target, and then wait and see how I feel then.

goingonabearhunt1 · 28/03/2019 16:54

I know what you mean adventure I'm within healthy BMI as well but I still don't feel quite right so I keep going. All my weight is round my middle as well which isn't good, I feel much better without it. I want to be 9st 8lbs.

whatthefoxsaid · 28/03/2019 18:02

Same here, I'm healthy bmi and my clothes fit OK. But as soon as I get out of "diet" mindset I seem to go mad and then have to get it back off again.
I have been lighter and loved it but its so bloody hard to get there and I find maintaining impossible. I just want to eat ice cream and chocolate without gaining, is that too much to ask Grin

ZsaZsaMc · 28/03/2019 19:10

It’s strange isn’t it? My BMI was always borderline overweight and now is healthy and I weigh below 10 stone (just!) but I still wouldn’t be described as slim! I think I’ve lost all the weight from my face and nowhere else

TickVG · 28/03/2019 20:49

I'm still lurking- it's hard to let go! Such a good source of inspiration and motivation here. But was thinking of starting a maintenance thread so might go ahead and see if there's any interest Smile

SingaporeSlinky · 28/03/2019 21:06

ZsaZsa apparently I’ve lost weight from my face too, it’s weird it’s not consistent.Tummy is still big, but has slimmed a bit. Hips have slimmed, and arms and shoulders, which looks nice in sleeveless tops. Legs don’t look much different to me though, still got chunky, wobbly thighs and bottom.

I’ll join Tick, once I’m back from holiday I’ll be heading towards maintenance rather than aiming for another half a stone. It’s good to keep reading and get advice, rather than potentially slipping and having to start over.

I weighed in this morning at exactly 10st 4lbs. My starting weight was 10st 10.8lbs but that was 26th Feb not 1st March, so 2 days early. Pretty pleased with that to be fair, might get the 0.2lbs off by the end of the month to hit the 7bs Grin

SingaporeSlinky · 29/03/2019 10:12

Well done Adventure I’d take that as a massive win!

I’ve lost 6lbs this month so I’m claiming it as well Smile

I forgot to do my final weigh in this morning but I'll try remember tomorrow! Well done on the fabulous losses. This lovely weather is a timely reminder to keep going so I'm not as big this summer as I was last, post pregnancy.

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 29/03/2019 19:26

Sorry I've been AWOL! I will read back

Stats to date

09/02/2019 = 12st 3lbs

01/03/2019 = 11st 9.8lbs
29/03/2019 = 11st 3.6 lbs

Weight lost in March 6lbs 😁

Total weight loss 13.5lbs or 7.83%

I had hit the magical 1 stone off. Seems I put a bit back on. Must be stricter!!

SingaporeSlinky · 29/03/2019 21:02

That’s great Funky!

Final weigh in and I managed to lose 9lbs in March! 5lbs off this week which has given me a good boost :)

Well done to all on our losses!!

Crazzzycat · 30/03/2019 14:33

I’m checking in for the final weigh in too.

I started March off on 87.7 kg and now I’m 84.1 kg. So, I’ve lost 3.6 kg, or just under 8lbs. I’m really happy with that!

Bring on April!

VivaFrida · 30/03/2019 14:37

congrats for your losses cricketmum - 5 lbs in a week... wow, that's 2.2kg in a week, that is LOTS!!

I am having a very active day, did intense workout this am, then cleaned the house with the rest of the team (DH and DS) and now taking a little breather before we attack the garden.

I have a dilemma. Normally I weigh on a Wednesday but I am going away for four days tomorrow and coming back home Thursday evening.

Do I:

a-weigh myself tomorrow (after 4 days) and then again next Sunday changing my WI day to Sunday.

b-weigh myself on Friday instead of Wednesday and then again the following Wednesday, sticking to Wednesday weighing, considering that the second reading may not show much of a loss as after 5 days.

This is also complicated by the fact that I am due my period at some point next week so reading may be all over the place for hormones anyway.

I know, totally first world problems, but aargh, decisions decisions... what would you do?

(don't suggest I take the scales with me... I seriously considered it myself, but I am travelling with public transport and I am walking to my hotel from the station and need to travel light)

Crazzzycat · 30/03/2019 15:04

That’s a tricky one VivaFrida.

I think I’d weigh tomorrow morning, and use that as the starting weight for April. Then weigh on Friday before going back to weekly Wednesday weigh-ins.

But it also depends on whether you think weighing on Wednesdays would often be a problem? If that’s the case switching to another day might be better.

VivaFrida · 30/03/2019 18:29

That's good advice crazycat! Thank you! Weighing on a Wednesday not a problem as often the day when I go away for work is a Sunday night.

How's everyone's weekend? We ended up working really hard for 2 hours in the garden, then walked to the shops! I am super knackered today and haven't been very hungry so far; so fairly easy to stay on plan.

VivaFrida · 31/03/2019 08:30

Morning! I weighed this morning as suggested by crazycat and I have lost another 600 gr. I am now 65.1kg. This is my final weight for March and starting weight for April. I lost 5.2kg in March, that is 11.464 pounds.

My BMI went from 25.8 (overweight) to 23.9 (healthy). The BMI, of course, is an indicative measure as the "healthy" range goes from 18.5 to 25

My happiest, healthiest weight, the one at which I feel better, I am full of energy, I can run and in which my body becomes a help for my life rather then an hindrance that I drag around, is at BMI 20 (roughly) so that's what I am aiming for. Not for vanity but for myself. For how it works and how it feels not how it looks.

ZsaZsaMc · 31/03/2019 09:18

Well done @vivafrida and @crazzzycat! Now here’s to April Smile

Crazzzycat · 31/03/2019 10:28

Well done VivaFrida! That’s a great loss.

I’m still completely focussed on getting to a healthy BMI. “Only” one more stone to go now.

Once I’ve hit that target, I will set a new goal. But I don’t really know what that goal should be.

Various online calculators show my ideal weight as 67kg. That would mean I still have 17kg to lose! It’s too depressing to think about at the moment 😣

Must focus on that healthy BMI goal first!

VivaFrida · 31/03/2019 11:04

Crazzzycat don't lose heart, 17 kg is not that much really... some people have double or even triple that to lose! It is a matter of months, and you'll see that when you hit healthy BMI and can move more the weight will fall off you!

And you will find yourself what the 'ideal' weight for your body is. I have friends who are completely fit/healthy/happy/gorgeous at the higher end of the spectrum, definitely weight is not 'one size fits all' I am hundred percent certain that with your intelligence and attitude you will get there.

We are all here rooting for you and supporting you!! Healthy BMI is in your reach now.

I must admit today when I saw the scales at 65.1 I thought GAAHHH so near to 64...close but no cigar... I want to be 64 NOW, but actually I am going to try and enjoy my body at every weight. It's true I am not very nimble now, but I am bulkier so I am stronger! Yesterday I attacked the lawn mowing with the strength and determination of Iron(wo)Man!

Crazzzycat · 31/03/2019 14:11

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement VivaFrida

You are so right that we need to celebrate what we are now, and all the little wins along the way. Being too focused on the end goal, just ends up getting frustrating.

My biggest achievement this week was not the numbers on the scales, but going for a three hour hike. No way could I have done that three, or even two months ago. Blush Those are the kind of changes I need to focus on.

MegBusset · 31/03/2019 17:47

Hi everyone, just checking in at the end of the month - I've not posted much as the thread has moved too quickly to keep up with, but well done to all those who have lost this month :)

My weigh-in this morning was 9st 6lb so although not the half stone or more that lots of you have managed, I've lost 3lb in what I hope is a fairly sustainable way.

Will join the April thread as another few pounds off next month would be fantastic.

shakeapoo · 31/03/2019 20:33

I'm weighing in tomorrow morning! I'm sure I've lost a bit but definitely not half a stone. Well done to everyone & let's keep going through April 💪🏻

MercuryRising · 01/04/2019 02:27

I fell off the thread after a couple of days but joined slimming world two weeks ago and lost 4 pounds. I will definitely be aiming to lose half a stone in April. Well done everyone on your losses in March.
