Half a stone off in March

SingaporeSlinky · 01/03/2019 09:03

Carrying on from the February thread and new joiners welcome, fresh slate for March!

I’ve weighed in today at 10st 1lb so I’m determined to at the very least get down to 9-something this month! Ideally the half stone by the end of March when I go on holiday. Who’s in?

I've decided to try fasting as I wasn't well on Friday so only had a small salad and Saturday I didn't eat at all, yesterday I only had a bit of ham.
Today still not very hungry at all, although my stomach woke up when I smelt a clients slow cooker chilli on the go, so I had a boiled egg then felt full and that's all I've had.
Weighed myself this morning and I've lost 8lbs since Thursday so I'm going to stick with fasting especially now that I've read up on it, just going to do 7 days to start with. The health benefits are supposed to be amazing so it's an interesting experiment and anything that kick starts the weight loss is fine by me! ☺

Also did 10 minutes of weights and walked 5 miles today and didn't feel light headed or worn out, actually feeling quite focussed and energised 👍

Lakeside88 · 04/03/2019 21:04

I'm in too if that's ok, will need more time to read through the posts but I've been dieting since Jan 2nd and gone from 12st 6lbs to 11st 1lbs, I am over the moon but not there yet. I eat a lot less processed food (and cheese) and have an online PT I weight life 4 times a week and do 2 hrs cardio a week, plus dog walking and horse riding, phew!

TickVG · 04/03/2019 21:22

Ahhh toast is the absolute best isn't it thisone! Have you tried the warburtons wholemeal that's 55cal a slice? My occasional treat is one slice with 5g bertoli light (+17cal!) and a smidge of bovril! It is tough isn't it zsazsa - breastfeeding does weird things to your body. I think I've found my sweet spot at 1400 cal per day. Anything below that and I get super hangry! Grin

TickVG · 04/03/2019 21:24

Mm vida I've tried the options thing- delicious!Smile and spicy- amazing results from fasting! Wish I had the willpower! I tried 16:8 and it just made me feel on edge all the time!

SingaporeSlinky · 04/03/2019 21:37

Welcome lakeside that’s great progress so far! So is it mainly exercise for you, and just reduced processed foods or are you calorie counting too?

Wow spicy 8lbs in 4 days? I haven’t looked into fasting, is it mainly fluid that comes off initially, just to kick start?

Thanks Frida if that’s right, I think I’d rather just go for a longer walk than a short run then. I really am not a runner, I don’t enjoy it at all.

thisonebreath · 04/03/2019 21:47

TickVG I would live on toast if I could. 😁

Lakeside88 · 04/03/2019 21:59

Thanks Singapore, yes I have a calorie goal of 1700 and protein goal of 150g which I track with mfp. Main changes have been more fresh food and high protein foods which have naturally brought calories down although a degree of restraint is also necessary!

MrsVoleTheVet · 05/03/2019 07:17

Viva ooh thanks, I'll give that a try.

Also a choc shot fan (can you sense a theme...?) I like it on a banana for dessert, squirted into hot milk to pour on my weetabix (it makes it feel like a treat then!), and sometimes just a blob on a cracker, just because.

AdventureTravelDreamer · 05/03/2019 07:25

I am doing a happy dance this morning as I have lost exactly 3lbs since last Tues Grin

I have been careful but did have most of a bottle of wine on Fri evening and one large bottle of beer on Sun so haven't felt totally deprived! I have also exercised most days which has obviously helped.

I am going on holiday the first week of the Easter holidays and that has been a good motivation for me. I have just under 6 weeks until we go and would be over the moon if I could get under 10st before then but not sure if that is doable (10st 7.8lbs this morning)

Well done everyone on your loses, both lbs and inches, some great results!! And some fab NSVs too Grin

Spicylolly · 05/03/2019 07:30

@Singapore yes fluid in the first 48hrs then you start to burn fat. Most research says don't do any cardio as that burns into your muscle and to just do weights. It's not advised long term obviously.
I feel amazing though, never in a million years did I think I could stop eating!!! I did wake up a bit hungry but I've had a coffee and some water and it's gone now. Weighed myself and I'm now 15 s 10.6lbs (16s7lb start weight) so I'm definitely sticking to it for the 7 days.
I've seen some people do 30 days but that seems super excessive and surely can't be good for you? Although I am massively overweight so I do have plenty of fat stores for my body to use haha I'll just go paleo/low carb when this is finished as that's how I lost a lot weight pre broken ankle 👍

AdventureTravelDreamer · 05/03/2019 07:32

Lakeside 150g of protein!! Can I ask how you manage that? I aim for 1200 cals and 50g protein and rarely hit the protein goal! I am veggie and try to include at lease one ofeither high protein yogurt, cottage cheese and eggs into my diet everyday.

Also sorry I can't see who it was that mentioned it as I can't go back a page without losing what I written so far but jeans shopping is the worst!!! I need new jeans and have decided perhaps I can just live without them as I find it so hard to find style / shape to suit me Confused

Spicylolly · 05/03/2019 07:32

Well done to everyone on their losses! I think the days being lighter help motivate everyone, nothing worse than dark dingy mornings and evenings....and we can smell the summer coming haha x

MrsVoleTheVet · 05/03/2019 07:33

Congratulations ATV and others on successful weeks! I'm looking forward to having something positive to report soon!

Today's plan:
3 flasks of water
Resist the Easter eggs
Calories under 1300
Maybe squish in some sit-ups later?

Sending positive vibes out to all!

Lakeside88 · 05/03/2019 07:55

I just pick high protein versions of yoghurt when I can, i take whey protein almost every day and there is a lot in chicken and fish so I have that twice a day. My cals are quite high as I'm lifting quite a lot and I'm very active (around 25k steps a day) so it allows for more protein, at low calories you would struggle to eat more protein but I think around 50g daily is recommended so your goal is fine. It's harder as a veggie I know my brother is vegan and he struggles but tofu and chickpeas are also good sources.

SingaporeSlinky · 05/03/2019 08:42

Weighing in today at 10st. I knew the 9st13 was too good to be true, but I’m still happy with my NSVs so far and still a pound down since this March thread. Only day 5 so I’m hoping for another pound off in the next few days.
Aim for today is to drink more water, go for a walk and I might do an exercise dvd later.

OP posts:
ZsaZsaMc · 05/03/2019 10:46

Joining the weigh in today 4lbs lighter!

Can’t get carried away though as on previous diets I lose in the first two weeks and the it tails off just as I start to get bored!

shakeapoo · 05/03/2019 10:58

Can I join please

SingaporeSlinky · 05/03/2019 10:59

Well done ZsaZsa!

SingaporeSlinky · 05/03/2019 11:00

Welcome shake where are you on your weight loss journey and what type of plan are you following?

OP posts:
shakeapoo · 05/03/2019 11:01

I'm same weight as you @SingaporeSlinky. Goal throughout March is to be in a 1000kcal deficit each day and do 4 x exercise classes a week. I'm not going to weigh myself until 1st April though. Scales drive me mad when it's 1 pound up, 1 pound down all the time - I'm really hoping this way there will be a more significant loss!

shakeapoo · 05/03/2019 11:04

Food wise I'm vegan and pretty healthy anyway but tracking calories is a must as if I don't I eat too much! Need to avoid snacks, alcohol & aiming to drink 2.2l water a day.

SingaporeSlinky · 05/03/2019 12:42

Having a small wobble today. So far so good, I’ve had a coffee, green tea and a squash, a bowl of blueberries and raspberries and a chicken sandwich. But having major temptation to eat some chocolate. I did just look to see when I’m due on my period and I think I’m due this week so could explain it. Last month I had a binge before realising that was the case, so I’m hoping that is the reason, and that I can resist this time. Or if I give in, I don’t go too mad and have 3 bars Blush

I had such a good day yesterday and felt so buoyed by my new clothes, it’s funny how a day can make such a difference. I’ve been for a walk and still planning to do an exercise dvd. Let’s see.

Hi Guys, not completely sure if I am welcome here as firstly I am not female and secondly am not a mum...not even close...

However, I have recently started trying to loose weight and struggled to find many forums online for support - having read this thread the support seems great and I'd like to join in...if you will have me.

Anyway, stats are below (in case I'm allowed to stay!)

Gender: Male
Age: 30

Start weight (18/02/2019): 17st 3lbs
Current weight(last weighed on 01/03/2019) : 16st 9lbs
Weight loss so far: 7lbs
Target: 14st - not sure on my target weight, I am 6ft and well built so naturally will be heavier!!

SingaporeSlinky · 05/03/2019 13:18

Welcome AmI - yes you are welcome!
Well done on your loss so far. How have you managed it? Cutting down portions, exercising, eating healthier choices? Or all of the above?

OP posts:
thisonebreath · 05/03/2019 13:41

Hello AmI. Get my fitness Pal for logging calories, it makes it harder to snack on junk when you're logging everything. Good luck!

I'm not doing too badly. I have had porridge for breakfast, banana, cheese and salami for snacks, leftover cottage pie and some peanuts for lunch. I've decided to just count calories and not worry about low carb as it was making me feel faint. I've got lamb steak, root veg mash and green beans for dinner and I'm going to have a small pancake.
