Half a stone off in March

SingaporeSlinky · 01/03/2019 09:03

Carrying on from the February thread and new joiners welcome, fresh slate for March!

I’ve weighed in today at 10st 1lb so I’m determined to at the very least get down to 9-something this month! Ideally the half stone by the end of March when I go on holiday. Who’s in?

Kathyskonfessions · 01/03/2019 19:21

Can I join in too
Weighing in at 10st10lbs using mfp daily (my daily calorie allowance =1,200)
Last month I cut out the glass or two of wine in the evenings and managed to lose 8lbs in February (I tend to eat crap once wine passes my lips🙈)

Faultymain5 · 01/03/2019 19:23

Hovering betwee 10st 1 and 9st 12 for the past 4 months.

Made headway last week but have been ill all week and crept back up to 9st 13lb.

But I'll be back on it from Sunday.

SingaporeSlinky · 01/03/2019 19:23

Happy birthday for tomorrow chocolate - although I really think you should NC to something more healthy, like CarrotSticksWithLowFatHummous Grin
Enjoy the weekend and we’ll see you on the other side, ready to shift that cake!

I'm in! 10st13 when I weighed in on Monday. I'm not doing anything specific, just trying not to snack/eat shit and more veg and exercise. Sounds so simple but I've actually found it quite tough this week Blush

whatthefox it does always sound simple but definitely isn’t.
I have found that completely cutting snacks is easier for me than trying to reduce though. On days my willpower is low, if I snack, I keep going, so once I get the taste for crisps, I’ll have 2 packets. I end up thinking about food even more, and end up on the chocolate as well. So it’s easier to resist in the first place.

The last 3 days I’ve just been really determined and have been sensible. I just need to make my slip-ups much less often.

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 01/03/2019 22:43

My DP came home with Chinese 🥴

Crazzzycat · 02/03/2019 01:16

Can I join too? I’ve been dieting since the start of January and am currently 13 st 11.

I’m sticking to 1400 kcal and this month I’m also planning to increase my exercise by aiming for 10k steps every day.

I’m hoping that will be enough to keep shifting the weight at a steady pace. Fingers crossed!

SingaporeSlinky · 02/03/2019 09:07

I’m down to 10st 0 this morning! Yippee! That was my initial goal when I started on 7th Jan, so total 10lbs lost. Just want to get under 10st now, so I need to set a new goal for myself. Pretty happy with that as I’ve been a bit up and down for a few weeks. Maybe that’s normal though.

Funky does DP know you’re trying to lose weight, or did he just think it was a treat? I guess there’s nothing wrong with takeaway occasionally, it is the weekend Smile My DH got Chinese the other night but I told him not to get me any. I guess once the weight is off and I’m maintaining, the odd one will be fine, but I’m being quite strict at the moment.

Welcome Crazzzy how much have you lost since you started in January?

OP posts:
ZsaZsaMc · 02/03/2019 09:54

I’m in as well. Weight has been creeping up and now I weigh 10st10 and a lot of that is due to eating biscuits and chocolates on the sofa with DH. DH has a biscuit addiction which doesn’t help!

Doing WW as find calorie counting unsustainable and also I tend to get obsessed with it or just really bored Grin

Makegoodchoices · 02/03/2019 13:05

Me too please, 11stone3 this morning. Trying Blood Sugar Diet.
Today I’ve had 2 boiled eggs for breakfast, chicken soup for lunch and am planning bacon, mushroom, cauliflower & broccoli for dinner.

whatthefoxsaid · 02/03/2019 13:29

Weekends are hard with refusing treats. DH likes a Pizza Hut on Saturday nights (not every week but probably once a month). He's compromised on homemade pizza tonight which is fine, I'll roll it thin and include lots of veg.

MeganChips · 02/03/2019 13:37

I’ll join in too please. Start weight 11st 13.5, I want to lose 2st in total.

I gained loads being on the pill and having the mirena at the same time but it’s finally starting to shift and I want to lose some so my clothes fit me again and for surgery.

I’m planning to use MFP at stick to a max of 1200 a day.

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 02/03/2019 14:33

@meganchips we are similar weights and goals 😁

We got this!!

SingaporeSlinky · 02/03/2019 15:40

I’ve had 3 coffees, a green tea, a bowl of blueberries and raspberries, some crackerbread with butter, and dinner will be sausages, sweet potato fries and peas. Again, not the healthiest, but under my 1200 again and I’ve been for a leisurely walk to the shops for an hour.
Zero snacks today so I’m pleased with myself.
I’ve reset my goal on MFP to 9st 10lb which would be a stone in total. Hopefully very doable, although I do need to up my exercise as my tummy is still very flabby.

I’m kind of disappointed that MFP didn’t show fireworks or something when I logged in today at my target weight Hmm. I thought there’d be something, at least a pop up asking me if I wanted to set a new goal or maintain, but nothing!
Goal for next week is to do 3 workouts of some kind I think.

When is everyone weighing in?

MeganChips · 02/03/2019 15:53

Excellent FunkyBarnYardBroom, let’s keep each other on track for safer surgery!

Congrats on reaching your target weight SingaporeSlinky Smile

Today’s food will be:
B: Pink grapefruit
L: Tuna salad wrap with a pickled gherkin
D: Grilled chicken breast with a big salad

I tend to run about 800-1000 calories a day, mainly because I work away a lot so like to create a deficit for hotel eating etc.

Plus I like to leave some for wine 😳

MeganChips · 02/03/2019 15:54

I’ll weigh in on Wednesday.

PancakeAndLefty · 02/03/2019 16:02

Congratulations on reaching your target @SingaporeSlinky! I am doing ok today, smoothie for breakfast and chicken salad for lunch plus went to hot yoga earlier, but I'm out for dinner tonight with friends which will be tricky. I'm going to drive so won't be drinking and hoping I can summon the willpower not to pig out! Unfortunately I'm already hungry so drinking herbal tea and trying not to think about the flapjack in the cupboard...

whatthefoxsaid · 02/03/2019 16:41

Well done singaporeslinky I would be disappointed with no fireworks too!
Today I've had a small bowl of cereal & apple, hm vegetable soup and it's thin pizza & salad for tea. I mainline herbal tea when hungry too pancake
Ooh. Pancakes..

SingaporeSlinky · 02/03/2019 16:51

Thanks all, and sounds like you’re all having healthy meals today, and being sensible in planning nights out too.

I’ve been having green tea instead of a snack too. I do prefer coffee, but can’t have that without honey or sugar, so at least green tea is healthy, and I find the warm drink comforting. Filling my stomach helps too of course. I was ready to snack late morning, and realised it was because I’d skipped breakfast so quickly got my bowl of berries ready, then had an early lunch. Stomach’s growling now but DH has got the dinner cooking.

Has anyone found any helpful ways of shifting belly fat or is it just a case of losing overall? I read somewhere that you can do as many sit ups or whatever as you like, but you need cardio to shift the layer in front of your abs before you’ll get close to a flat tummy. I don’t think I’ve had a flat one since I was a kid, so it’s going to be a hard slog. I have noticed trousers and coats are looser around my middle, but I still have rolls of fat there. I thought shifting 10lbs from my 5’4” frame would show more, but I think I’ve just lost a bit from everywhere, not hugely noticeable. Any tips gratefully received!

BoundByBriars · 02/03/2019 18:53

Singapore - yes it’s just a case of losing body fat in general, although doing core work will help it look better by building muscle underneath and aiding better posture. Some people lose more from that area naturally when losing weight. I always lose it from my boobs, décolletage and neck first, so I start to look scrawny before anything shifts from my belly!

Day 2 was good today. I’ve been keeping up with drinking 2 litres as well, which had really slipped. I’m hoping for better skin and more energy.

Now the next challenge for me - Sunday roast!! What do you all do? It’s a staple for me, I LOVE it. I was thinking of treating myself to gravy and one potato but losing the Yorkshire and just having a small portion of veg and meat (that’s Quorn for me as I’m veggie).

Crazzzycat · 02/03/2019 19:45

@SingaporeSlinky , I don’t actually know how much I lost since the start of January as for weeks I was just too embarrassed to weigh myself.

I estimate I’ve lost about a stone, if not more. Clothes are definitely feeling a lot looser Smile

I have another 1.5 stone to go until I’m a healthy weight, so if I can shift another half stone in March, I’ll be halfway there. That’s pretty exciting!

SingaporeSlinky · 02/03/2019 19:53

Crazzzy that’s great! Well it’s only the 2nd of the month, so plenty of time. Good luck!

ZsaZsa I’ve had to cut out biscuits, they are so not worth the calories! Now that I’m logging on MFP I’ve become much more savvy on where I’d rather have them, so around 100 kcals on one biscuit, or I think, well for that amount I’d rather have a pack of quavers for example. My problem is also that I would never have just one biscuit, I’d have 4.

I did treat myself after dinner tonight as we had some Maltesers buttons which I’d never tried before. At first I said I wouldn’t, then I looked at the calories and actually weighed out less than one portion. So a portion was 31g according to the pack, and I had 21g, a decent amount of buttons and came in at 109 kcals. I’m still way under 1200 today so figured I could allow myself.

Roast chicken for Sunday lunch tomorrow, so I’ll be having very light breakfast and dinner.

Makegoodchoices · 03/03/2019 06:57

@singaoreslinky Whenever I do low carb it seems to have more impact on belly area than other diets.

I didn’t sleep well last night as I was weeing all night! I guess that means my water intake was pretty good for the day!

MFP is giving me attitude as the blood sugar diet isn’t enough calories to make it happy. I was a bit cranky yesterday so let’s hope I’m less so by Monday. I struggle the most with eating at work - slightly bored = snacking for me. Plus we have a cake table that is always heaving Confused
