fairydust · 02/09/2004 16:19

Well i started back to slimming world last thursday and have managed to loose four pounds.

Like many of you i have joined and re-joined SW / WW so many times and never got past a couple of weeks.

So this time i am setting a challenge for anyone that wants to join me.

So i set you this challenge to loose 1 stone by xmas which is approx 15/16 weeks away which by loosing a 1lb a week is very achievable.

So wether your going to class or doing it yourself please come and join us.

So Kayleigh were are you????

Well done Christie. Looking forward to meeting you tonight. I have seen the menu and reckon a red day is best option for me. There was plenty of steak and fish on the menu. And chocolate tart .

lilibet · 23/09/2004 11:09

Well done Christe!!

Kayleigh, isn't chocolate tart a healthy 'B'?

As well I promised and here it is, What I ate yesterday by Lilibet!!

Breakfast - fruit

Lunch - Tin of Veg Soup 'b'

When I got in from work - a slice of bread - another b

erm.....................

a slice of bread and butter, the scrapings out of the nutella jar(about 3 teaspoons), a toasted crumpet with butter and a bounty icecream

Tea:- Jacket, no butter, tesco low fat coleslaw and a really big salad.

Later - half a bottle of red wine, another two toasted crumpets

Later still - a very large measure of whiskey and a coleslaw sandwich

You see why I am so pleased to stay the same!

I start with such good intentions, but my hormones are playing up at the moment, not that that is an excuse, I can et like that any day of the month. In fact - for me it was quite restrained

How do you stick to it?

Kayleigh · 23/09/2004 11:33

lilibet, FWIW looking at your menu IMO you are being too restrictive early in the day which makes you binge later. That's what used to happen to me. I would save all my sins and nearly all my A + B options for the evening - in case. But then would deprive myself during day which led to picking at things i shouldn't. I couldn't exist all day on a bit of fruit and a bowl of soup. No way.

Yesterday (green day)
Breakfast at work - 2 weetabix with semi skim milk and bananna chopped in
mid morning - apple, mectarine
lunch (in restauarant)- pasta arrabiata, fruit salad
mid afternoon - nectarine, apple, yog
get home - carrot while preparing supper
supper, quorn chilli con carne & rice
watching tv - toffee muller yog & hi-fi bar
sins were accounted for in restaurant pasta as sauce must have had oil in, and some ketchup in the chilli.

I am ok at the moment, but as you know I am either being brilliant or very very bad. There is no in-between for me.

At the moment the things keeping me going are :-

  1. My clothes are either tight or unwearable and I do NOT want to have to buy bigger ones
  2. There is a dress I have seen in Next that I want but it won't look any good till I have lost at least another half stone.
  3. Fairydust (who has been a great email support) and I said we'd meet-up when we both lost a stone. And I'd love to meet her.

List the reasons you want to lose weight and write them down. Here or on your fridge door. Then remind yourself every time you feel yourself swaying. It might help.

lilibet · 23/09/2004 11:38

I have a really unflattering photo of myself pinned on a kitchen cupboard, I just avert my eyes!

I will have a rethink of the balance of my food throughout the day. I'm stuck at work so wht evr I bring is all I have to eat all day and am sooo lazy - would rather have an extra 15 mins in bed and eat fruit at work rather than get up early and eat a good breakfast.

I'm glad you are doing so well, I am really pleased for you.

I'll miss you when you don't need this thread anymore

Kayleigh · 23/09/2004 11:46

LOL lilibet, I'll be around for a good while yet. And I'll probbaly be back on the one we'll start next year too. The one called "I lost weight last year on S/W but now I've put it all back on"

I make my food for work the night before while I'm making the supper so I don't have to worry about it in the morning. There is a pack of weetabix in my desk drawer so I just have to bring in banana to cut up in it plus other fruit to eat through day. Today 2 x apples, 2 x nectarines and some grapes.
I also keep fat free salad dressing here to go on salad - today large tupperware with salad, toms, cucumber, ham, hard boiled egg and pickled beetroot.

lilibet · 23/09/2004 12:16

Don't think weetabix would go down too well here tho, I will try harder. I'm going to be really really brave here and do something wild and reckless!!!!!!

I'm 11st 1lb!

I would love to loose 2lb so that I can be 10stone something. And really it shouldn't be that hard

Kayleigh · 23/09/2004 12:21

I'd love to be 10 stone stomething too, but it'd take a lot more than 2lbs . How tall are you ? Unless you are about 4 foot tall you're not that overweight are you ?

wild and reckless ????????? you mean like have an extra babybel ?

Kayleigh · 24/09/2004 09:17

OK, confession time.

Went out for dinner last night. Was perfect angel for starter and main course. Prawn cocktail with no sauce followed by steak, salad and veg. Then it all went a bit pear shaped. Well what would you do with chocolate Fondue as a pudding option??? Oh god it was devine

Am only admitting this because was out with christie last night so she is sure to tell on me if i don't get in first ! She was a complete goody goody and had fruit salad for pudding. Which is probably why she is much thinner than me !

My wild and reckless thing was putting my weight on here!!

Just call it a flexible sins day

When I went to class, the leader said that you should always have one night a week where you forgot about SW and if you stuck to the plan the rest of the time the weight would still come off.

Well done Arabica, I know I couldn't have done that.

Arabica · 24/09/2004 19:23

I didn't know I could do it either. I'm off things like Indian takeaways too because of all the oil in them. I know having a 'night off' SW works for some members but it doesn't for me. It just sets off cravings. So I basically stick to syn-free meals and save my syns for the occasional night out in a restaurant with wine, otherwise ketchup, pickle and extra bits of cheese. But tomorrow I am going to a posh hotel tea and I'm gonna have everything they can cram onto their fancy-schmancy silver platter.

Kayleigh · 25/09/2004 11:05

lilibet, why didn't I think of that. Although not sure slimming worlds idea of flexible sins and ours will come anywhere near the same figure

arabica, am impressed by your willpower. have a lovely tea today. And remember - whatever you have - it's just flexible sins !!!!

Grrrr! Just been on sainsbury's webshite (yes I spend my Saturday nights internet supermarket-shopping: sad, or what?) Why can't they do muller light yoghurts! Or ALL the different types of quorn sausage..?
Anyway I have had delicious birthday tea. I think it had about a million syns but it was absolutely gorgeous & enjoyed every mouthful...even if afterwards going back home to reality on the bus, I felt really sick. Just not used to all that rich stuff churning around in my stomach! Now I have to ensure I don't keep 'celebrating' tomorrow. In the past that's always been my downfall but as I have said earlier on this thread, I do think I am losing my appetite for the sweet stuff (fingers crossed). Hope everyone having a good weekend.

Moomin · 26/09/2004 09:04

can't see that i'll lose this week. Had an indian takeaway friday night - dupiaza was sposed to be cooked without too much sauce but it didn't look like it! Ate this with lemon pilau rice (yum) and only had half each portion. The last night went to neighbour's and drank loads of red wine and even had a chocolate mousse & cream for pud. Oh well, as others say here you've got to still have a life. In my pre-slimming world life I'd have eaten the whole of the indian and eaten the mousse AND cheesecake, so I am being semi-good. Lost 2lbs last week (5lbs total in 3 weeks). Won't be too gutted if I don't lose this week - just don't want to have put anything on.

Kayleigh · 28/09/2004 14:21

Weighed in today and lost 2 ½ pounds. It just proves that you can have the odd slip-up (chocolate fondue!) and still lose weight. The important thing is to get straight back on plan and maybe cut some sins over next few days. I know this - it?s just putting into practice that is so hard.

Is anyone still around ????

Moomin · 28/09/2004 14:27

Yes, still here! Well domne K - 2 and a half lbs is great. I lost 2lbs last week but feel like I've put one or more on this week. Hope I've just stayed the same. Get weighed tonight.

Kayleigh · 28/09/2004 14:39

Moomin good luck, will look out for your post to see how you do.

I don't think it's so bad if you put on when you have been bad and are expecting it. The worst is when you have been good and put on. I find that the most demoralising (sp?). Those are the weeks i could easily give up.

Shiraz · 28/09/2004 15:54

Hi Ladies!

Well it was my first week and what a mess of the weekend i made! I had pizza and cheesy garlic bread on Sunday night, a few ciders on Friday daytime, a bottle of wine on Saturday and Sunday night..arrgghhhhhhhhh!

I think it's because my weighing scales broke and i knew i had to buy some new ones and bought an exercise bike on ebay on Sunday so i fell down a slippery slope and thought 'oh well i'll start fresh on Monday'..i weighed myself and i'd lost a pound.....better than nothing though!

And this week i'm doing well so far..and i'm doing 15 mins on the bike everynight..doesnt sound much but it's an ex gym bike and has amazing reviews for an intensive workout, and my god was my ass and thighs killing after 15 mins last night!

So here is hoping! Well done to all of you so far and good luck!

Becs xx

Arabica · 28/09/2004 16:05

Well done Kayleigh! How much have you lost altogether? And Moomin, looking forward to hearing about your weigh-in. Shiraz, you sound like you're building a gym in your house! Do you get bored exercising alone?
I'm a bit worried I won't be able to make tonight's class due to busy DH (i don't want to take DS with me as class is too late) but if I do, am hoping my b'day tea (estimated syns: 3 billion) won't have done too much damage cos I am just 1lb away from that coveted one stone sticker.

Kayleigh · 28/09/2004 16:09

umm, 9 and a half pounds in 4 weeks Arabica.
good luck for tonight - ad if you can't go pretend you have and that you lost a pound. That'll keep you going for another week. If I ever skip a class (previous s/w attempts!) I'm done for
