fairydust · 02/09/2004 16:19

Well i started back to slimming world last thursday and have managed to loose four pounds.

Like many of you i have joined and re-joined SW / WW so many times and never got past a couple of weeks.

So this time i am setting a challenge for anyone that wants to join me.

So i set you this challenge to loose 1 stone by xmas which is approx 15/16 weeks away which by loosing a 1lb a week is very achievable.

So wether your going to class or doing it yourself please come and join us.

So Kayleigh were are you????

What should I weigh at 5ft 5inches???

bran · 03/09/2004 20:25

According to Weight Watchers you should be between 8st8lbs and 10st10lbs Dingle, but you'll probably know yourself when you reach the right weight.

Dingle · 03/09/2004 20:44

Thank bran! That's quite good news then!!!
Just got to tone the flabby belly then.

crunchie · 04/09/2004 15:58

Kayleigh, Well this is where we 'met'

The detox I am doing is a couple of weeks to kick start things and to 'try' to change the habits of snacking in the eves etc. It is evil though. Day 1 and 2 were juice fasts, Day 3 and 4 were fruit and juice, Day 5 and 6 added veggies, Day 7 and 8 include brown rice, Day 9 and 10 add beans, nuts and seeds, Day 11 and 12 add other grains, 13 and 14 add live yoghurt. I am on day 7 at the moment and it is tricky, I am doubling up on a week detox that I found, so I am making it up a bit. However I am half way, so I guess it will onl get better from now on

I know I can stick to SW, but I need to alter the chocolate and crisp habit that dh and I are in. DH is also trying to eat better too.

My weaknesses are mainly bread and bread products like bath buns etc.

I've got about 3 stone (or did have!) or 2 dress sizes to go.

Kayleigh · 04/09/2004 19:19

god crunchie, sounds like hell. Well done for sticking to 7 days. I know I couldn't do it. Find it hard enough to stick to s/w and I can eat everything on that !!

Will you switch to s/w when the detox is finished ?

How's everyone else doing over the weekend ?

MummyToSteven · 04/09/2004 20:34

dingle - or alternately you could look at between BMI 20 and BMI 25 - divided your weight in kilos by your height in metres squared to get your BMI

lilibet · 05/09/2004 15:28

Hello all

Doing ok, I had my 'night off' last night and the pancake cannelloni with spinach and four cheeses was just wonderful, as was the ciabatta and the pavolva! Yum

Back to it now tho'. I am weighing myself every Wednesday, I'm not going to class as funds are very low at the moment.

What is everyone else doing?
Hiya Crunchie!!

Mummytosteven- please explease all this body mass info to my ignorant self please.

Feeling very good about myself today, have completed the Flora Light Women's Challenge in Hyde Park today. It's been a long day, set off at 7am,from sunny Kent and after several train changes and a very long walk to the start line, I did it!!!!
First attempt, want to keep myself motivated & possibly go for it again nest year!
Anyone want to join me in a quest for fitness????
Has so far raised over £1200 for the Down Syndrome Association- a great buzz.
Unfortunately I am going to spoil myself my ordering in a very large curry and opening a bottle of wine!!!! mmmmm.

Kayleigh · 05/09/2004 19:05

dingle - congratulations - hey, you have earnt that curry

christie, welcome. 6lbs is 6lbs and it has come off. If you hadn't been following s/w you may well have put on more so you have done well. But you'll do better now you're with us !! I have the same with green days - love them - but do find i do better on red or mostly red. I try and stick to max 2 days green per week. I know loads of vegetarians who do all green days and lose tonnes (well not tonnes literaly, obviously)but if i overdo the green days i don't lose.

what day do you get weighed on ?

fairydust · 06/09/2004 15:17

hi all hope you all had a pretty good weekend -

I've been pretty good and stuck to it well....

My favourite thing is dairylea light cheese slices at the mo you can have 2per A box and there lush on a sandwich.

Moomin · 06/09/2004 15:44

can i join you? I was on the Are Wot You Eat for a few weeks but found it a bit unmanageable. I'm a big believer that diets don't actually work but sensible and realistic eating does. I joined sw after seeing my friend's booklet and it seemed right up my street.

My 1st weigh in after joining tomorrow but I can't say I feel any slimmer at all. I think i've tested the free food rules to the limit and have literally eaten like a pig. I don't eat meat but i eat fish so i found the green plan much better for me. This week i had 6 green days and 1 red. I don't mind if it comes off slowly, i just want to have lost by tomorrow. I need to lose about 2 st in all.

My weakness is takeways and just pure greed. I eat quite healthily but I always eat far too much. I cannot believe that i can eat as much pasta and potatoes as i have this week and still have lost.

lilibet · 06/09/2004 15:51

I have a black skirt which I wore about two/three winters ago and I was clearing out my wardrobe as we had a charity bag and I had completely forgotten about it! I tried it on and I can get into it, but couldn't walk out of the door wearing it! Far too tight, so my next big goal is to wear this skirt for work. I really need a new black skirt as the one I am wearing at the mo' is a bit knackered, so by getting into this I will feel better and save money. so what do you reckon? Half a stone and it should be comfy?

crunchie · 06/09/2004 19:13

Hello everyone. How did your weekend go? Well I stuck to my detox save for Sunday lunch and we went out. But I was good, no bread, just my maincourse. I am back to it today, with added beans!!

Seriously it is tough but I know two weeks will change the habits I need to change. I'll be sw straight after

Kayleigh · 07/09/2004 09:54

Have been a perfect angel this weekend so am feeling reasonably good about my first weigh in at lunch time today.
Straight after the weigh in am off to meet the city mumsnetters for lunch at a pizza/pasta place so am pretty sure i'll be doing a green day today and will stick to pasta in a tomato based sauce. Am practicing saying "No, not for me, thank you" for the desert order but it's not very easy is it

Kayleigh · 07/09/2004 15:03

ohmigod I lost 5 and a half pounds in my first week. I have been good apart from one not so small slip up early on in my first week, which I confessed to fairydust as I was much too embarrassed to post on the thread .
Thank you Fairydust as without your encouragement I very probably would have gone from bad to worse and cocked up the whole week.

Week two started with no dessert at the city meet-up. Can I keep this up ????

fairydust · 07/09/2004 15:30

yes you can keep this up - just remember how bad you felt saturday night -

If you going to have a treat then tonight is the night to do just remember your in control

and once again well done

lilibet · 07/09/2004 15:48

woo hoo!!!!!

[applauding icon]!!!!!

Kayleigh · 07/09/2004 16:16

why, thank you

good luck Arabica, think you get weighed tonight.

Arabica · 07/09/2004 16:57

Thanks for good wishes. I don't want to go tonight because I can feel I have put weight on, mainly because I haven't been able to exercise this week (bike had a puncture) and also I am nervous about MRI scan am having next week which has meant much more mindless cheese-nibbling than usual. We went to friend's house and she has posh new digital scales. OK I know I shouldn't have tried them out but I couldn't resist and discovered was 4lbs heavier. So am scared to go to class because everyone knows SW scales make you at least 3lbs heavier than you really are! Was tempted to starve myself until weigh-in but no. Won't do that any more--it doesn't work in long term and I am definitely in this for the long haul!

fairydust · 07/09/2004 17:15

Arabica - bite the bullet and go for it you may be surprised at what the scales say

OP posts:
Arabica · 07/09/2004 17:24

I am going to go because the last time I was a member I stayed away from class whenever I thought I had gained weight--and ended up putting most of it back on again. Not this time. I may be going up and down at the moment but I am definitely getting back in size 12s eventually.

fairydust · 07/09/2004 17:42

you go girl
