Last year I was gutted at being 13st.

I'm now 17st 2lbs.

I've done nothing but emotionally eat all year, fuelled by depression and anxiety. To the point where I've become mildly agoraphobic.

This has got to be the year I turn my life and poor eating habits around.

I don't know where to start.

I know the title is quite harsh but I've been telling myself it's not so bad.

But it is.

I'm fat. Very fat. And I need to correct it.

Binned last week as couldn't get into it. This week, since Monday I've eaten three meals a day ( and not even healthy ones) but have still lost 3 and a half pounds. I'm so bloody chuffed. All I did was stop snacking.

Notanotheruser111 · 12/01/2019 22:41

Well done on your losses Twllbach and chatwoo. Well done bettyboop on your loss as well.

I’m still biking along my legs are aching which I’m thinking is probably a good thing really. Don’t think I’ve lost anything amazing, clothes still feel the same. I had the most awesome cauliflower tacos last night in my quest to include more veggies in my diet. I’m planning a sweet potato and black bean chilli for tonight.

chatwoo · 12/01/2019 22:48

Thanks @Notanotheruser111 Smile

Good plan re incorporating more veggies. I get the Hello Fresh meal boxes x3 per week and they have some clever ways with veggies, even if some of the time it's just stirring a bag of spinach through a sauce or pasta, etc. They also use small volumes of nuts as a garnish, which I always really enjoy (nutrition and texture!)

Notanotheruser111 · 13/01/2019 00:00

I love the idea of the hello fresh boxes, unfortunately my kids have real issues with food, and have a very limited diet so they don’t work for us. I actually feel like the mental load of catering for them is one of the reasons I’m in such a rut. Spend to much energy making sure they are at least having enough calories, fibre ect that I stop caring about what I am eating.

Saffronesque · 13/01/2019 13:13

@Glitterpixie, I so get you!
Feels like I have learned so much about nutrition & mindful eating & the importance of rest & exercise, but why have I continued not to apply it?
There are issues with feeding kids with their own agendas, mobility, allergy to nuts, veggie etc etc, but still!
Anyway, I am so pleased to read all of your successes as it makes me feel like I CAN do it too. And even if I muddle along at 2-3 lbs a week, it WILL make a positive difference.
Go us!!!!!!

Teamdixon · 13/01/2019 21:46

Just updating for the sake of it really🙄
I'm on week 4 with my personal trainer - don't know if I've lost any weight because the blooming scales in the gym are out of order!

I can definitely see more definition in my arms and legs - still got a big tummy though! Sigh!

The PT has put me on 1700 calories a day, no other restrictions other than 100g of protein per day! That's more food than I've eaten in a long time so not feeling particularly confident!
Really enjoying being back in the gym though so that is a huge plus!

user1457017537 · 14/01/2019 04:38

Teamdixon is your PT a nutritionist as my freind ended up bigger after a year of having a PT. My son also saw one who recommended chocolate milk drinks after a session to replace glucose lost! Think there is some dodgy science and nutrition advice being handed out.

brexitsmexit · 14/01/2019 09:10

User I'll check but this is just a starting point - he said if we started too low on the calorie front we would have no where to go which seems sensible to me. He's had really good results with other people and my shape is changing already after only 3 weeks so I'm optimistic.

Worriedmum99 · 15/01/2019 09:38

Week two weigh in and lost 1.5 lbs, so total 9lbs so far. Doing ok, but after a couple of weeks is when I start picking so need to watch that now.

chatwoo · 16/01/2019 09:02

Good going @Worriedmum99 ! I have managed to stop picking/snacking totally... unless it's a 'planned' snack within my calorie allowance. It doesn't stop me from eyeing up the cheese slices in the fridge, as dinner is cooking though Grin Onward & upward!

Emmab515 · 17/01/2019 19:19

I weighed in on Tuesday at 16st 9lb so only 1 lb in a week Blush
Need to get back to the healthy eating and exercise. I have been doing my cross trainer 2/3 times a week but I need to do more. Eating was going fine, but have been snacking again so need to stop.
Anyway onwards and upwards

Hope everyone else is still doing ok

Emmab515 · 17/01/2019 19:21

I forgot to say that’s a total of 8lb since the start of the year

howhowhow · 17/01/2019 23:23

9lb off this morning since 2 January. I went on holiday for one of the weeks and put a couple of pounds back on but I think it must have been water weight as I wooshed 3lb back off this morning.

Following the bsd. Surprised at how much I can eat on 800 cals a day. I've gone down a dress size already (still really fat though).

Struggling to drink how much water I need but I am in ketosis according to my pee on a stick.

Only 4 stone to go.......

I’ve had a bit of a shit week this week, including a McDonald’s for lunch on Wednesday and ‘treating’ myself to a whole box of chocolates and multiple other snacks yesterday, just because DP is working away for a week Blush I haven’t really done any exercise apart from a workout last night and a half hearted walk just now.

Normally I let this throw me off and I give up trying, but I woke up this morning and got right back to healthy eating and will do a workout after DS is in bed.

Weigh in tomorrow so I’m not expecting to have lost anything but am crossing my fingers not to have gained!

Candace19 · 18/01/2019 15:48

You can do this @TwllBach don't give up!
Write off this week, learn from it and tell yourself you are worth the effort 😀

TwllBach · 19/01/2019 11:23

Thanks Candace!!

I weighed and measured, lost a pound and a cm each from my hips and waist so it is still a loss, taking me to 8/8.5lbs in 19 days. I'm back on it properly as from today though, so fingers crossed next week will be more successful!

I hope everyone else is doing ok!

bettyboop1000 · 19/01/2019 23:35

5lbs off this week. I think it will slow right down now so I'm just gonna aim for 1lb a week.

chatwoo · 20/01/2019 02:35

Just over a pound and a half this week... Which is a bit disappointing, but I've done this enough times now, to know that the weight doesn't always come off as expected. it's going on the right direction at least Grin

Notanotheruser111 · 20/01/2019 10:28

I’ve been away staying with family for a bit and have come back feeling a bit shit. No control over food and very little activity. I need to get my routine back. Everyone seems to be going pretty well though so we’ll done all

TonyOrdPersonalTrainer · 20/01/2019 16:12

I've been reading some of your comments, and I'd just like to offer some advice if I may?

Don't try to change too much all in one go, otherwise you will suffer from overwhelm and it can get all too much.

Change one thing, get good at it, then change the next thing, and so on.

Losing weight takes time, please don't do for the quick fixes that you see all over the place as they don't work long term.

Keep at it and you will get there.

Emmab515 · 22/01/2019 06:49

So 3 weeks in and I weighed 16st 7lb this morning. Started at 17st 3lb. So 10lb off.

Would be great to get to 16st 3lb on the 31st but that’s probably unrealistic but to get to that weight is my next mini goal and then to get into the 15st bracket.

chatwoo · 22/01/2019 08:03

That's great @Emmab515, well done!

I am also tracking my BMI with my weight, so that's another way of looking at targets or mini targets along the way.

howhowhow · 22/01/2019 08:58

I started with a 14 this morning woo hoo. That's a stone off since I started on 2 January. Feels like a breakthrough. Keep at it ladies. My husband has been away a few days and told me I felt really thin when he got back. Now this is a gross exaggeration as I am still nearly 15 stone and actually rather large but it was very kind of him and actually nice to hear that there was a difference. I tend to store my fat on my bum and thighs and boobs so my waist is the first thing to slim down.

He's actually being quite supportive whereas in the past he has tried to
Persuade me to have a takeaway (hence the gain in the first place).

How do people remember to drink enough?

chatwoo · 22/01/2019 09:11

@howhowhow I have a big water bottle that I fill up at work, I try to get through two in the morning and two in the afternoon. \

I have also been known (in the past) to set a timer, to remind me to get up and refill it! Blush
