Last year I was gutted at being 13st.

I'm now 17st 2lbs.

I've done nothing but emotionally eat all year, fuelled by depression and anxiety. To the point where I've become mildly agoraphobic.

This has got to be the year I turn my life and poor eating habits around.

I don't know where to start.

I know the title is quite harsh but I've been telling myself it's not so bad.

But it is.

I'm fat. Very fat. And I need to correct it.

"but if I'd added a slice of toast to that I'd still be growling for more food, I know. So weird." - Yep! weird but true.

Hi new folk and well done on the weight shifted Ijustbelieve and zigzag

Had a nice lunch with involved 'cauliflower rice' as a substitute for real rice in kedgeree. Never tried cauliflower rice and was sceptical but it sort of worked. Waiting until Thursday for an official weigh in (end of first week), but unofficially I think the fat is burning! Motivation is going well 4 days in

colditz · 07/01/2019 17:22

I'm not going to be able to stick to anything until all the After Eights have gone. There is 75 calories in 2 of them and I slot them into my face like letters into a postbox

SageYourResoluteOracle · 07/01/2019 18:28

After keeping my weight reasonably stable for 4 years, almost a while extra stone has crept on since September. I'm not very well and it looks as if I have MS. I feel totally grotty most of the time and have reverted to old 'friend' of eating a little too heartily. I've also fallen out the habit of running because I'm so exhausted. Until we find out what's wrong though I can't see myself safely running.

I'm 13st 1, 5'6'' and need to sort this now before my condition either deteriorates or before I'm taking steroids which will make weight loss harder.

Donkdonkgoo · 07/01/2019 21:24

My plan definitely wasn't to eat a fry up breakfast for tea then go to a personal training session 🙈.....Gaviscon at the ready for bedtime

Donkdonkgoo · 07/01/2019 21:28

Colditzs 😂

It's so easy to keep posting em📮

Donkdonkgoo · 07/01/2019 22:15

Sage.... make sure you get tested for under active thyroid.... your symptoms sound like it could be that

abbsisspartacus · 07/01/2019 23:16

Here is a question do scales help? Mad I know but I have had an eating disorder my entire life and I've put on weight I need to diet but I don't want to get obsessed by numbers do numbers help?

MamaDane · 07/01/2019 23:30

@abbs I only found scales helped once there had been a noticeable difference. When I first lost 29-ish kg I noticed after I had lost the first 8 kg, then when I had lost a further 14 kg, and after that I was OK at looking at scales.

But yeah right now I am avoiding scales so I won't feel deflated or discouraged. Once I see a noticeable change, I will weigh myself. Anything else is just upsetting.

MintyCedric · 07/01/2019 23:42

Finally got new batteries for the scales and weighed myself on Saturday. 17st...actually a few pounds less than I was expecting which was a pleasant surprise (though God knows how)!

Can't say as I'm really on it diet wise at the moment, as on a really tight budget this months, but does mean I can't afford to buy crap or extras. Christmas goodies are all gone and all the leftover booze has been despatched to the garage.

Today's menu:

Breakfast: Cereal bar

Lunch: Tin of tomato soup

Snacks: Apple, banana, satsumas, couple of slices of ham

Dinner: Chicken & Bacon Caesar Salad, small piece of Christmas cake

plus lots of coffee, 1 tea (normally have sugar in tea but resisted), and 1 hot Ribena.

Hoping to attempt the gym after work tomorrow...yuk!

Had success with WW in the past but have been paying for it for ages and not doing it. Am stumped tbh. Can't find the mental willpower.

Notanotheruser111 · 08/01/2019 00:11

Welcome to all the joiners
Candace I agree about looking for motivation through the scales and that’s what I’ve done previously but due to almost non existent losses I know it doesn’t work for me.

On the positive side my weight doesn’t creep up either I put on my current weight with each pregnancy but haven’t put on any in about 4 years.

absisspartacus if you think your likely to get obsessed with the numbers I’d avoid the scales or do what some of the others are and limit it to once a month

Sage. I hope you get some answers soon

mendandmakedo · 08/01/2019 07:17

Weigh in day 7lb off! Can't believe it. It must be because i ate so much over christmas and most is water loss. It has motivated me no end.

mendandmakedo · 08/01/2019 07:19

Absisspartacus
I think scales can help but also be a hinderance for the weeks you dont lose any. I am gearing up for this next week.

cricketmum84 · 08/01/2019 07:29

@mendandmakedo well done!! 7lb off here too :) think it was my body going into shock at no more pigs in blankets 😂

NeedChoos · 08/01/2019 07:36

I think scales help but just not easily accessible ones. If they’re in your house it’s too tempting to hop on too often so I’ve designated my gym scales as the “Scales of Reckoning”. Only to be approached once a week.

Worriedmum99 · 08/01/2019 09:43

Week 1 down and lost 7 1/2 lbs, massively pleased with that. Need to keep focused. Weight today is 18 11.5. I’d like to lose a stone in total by end January.

Good luck to all newbies.

howhowhow · 08/01/2019 09:50

I have had the best results with weight loss when I weigh daily. It sort of keeps me accountable. I know many will disagree.

Candace19 · 08/01/2019 10:05

Well done to all the losers today 🎉🎉🎉
I'm so impressed & it's keeping me motivated!

OneStepMoreFun · 08/01/2019 10:41

Week 1 and down 3lb but they are only the 3 lb I put on over Christmas, so really, I'm just back to square 1. Next week is the real test, because that will be losing pounds that have been around for years.

Popcornandbuttons · 08/01/2019 10:46

Well done to all those weighing in today!

I'm trying to avoid bread, pasta and rice this week as I think my body just doesn't process it very well - so lots of salads so far. Weigh in is Thursday.

Feeling inspired by people losing 7lb in a week that's awesome.

The most I've lost before was at SW and that was 5lb in week one so I'm hoping for 5lb at least this time Smile

IjustbelieveinMe · 08/01/2019 10:49

Hi everyone I weigh every day to me it means I can see how much my weight fluctuates from one day to another. 6 Ibs down so am now 13 stone 13.3. Saffron Pilates is great! I just walk everywhere and do a one hour Pilates class each week. I believe as long as you move you don't need to go to a gym.

notapizzaeater · 08/01/2019 12:28

Right I got on my scales today for an ugly 21st 3.5 I've started the Michael Moseley 800 k today, he recommends getting weighed daily. I've been to the gym this morning (knackered now- have a dog to walk in a min then doing some Bangra (?) dancing tonight - here goes onwards and downwards !

BluebellsareBlue · 08/01/2019 12:43

I've just ordered a weighted hula hoop from amazon and a swim bag. My ahem, plan, is to go to the local swimming baths every day before work (start at 1130) and do some hula hoops when I get in at 8pm.... I have no doubt this will last a whole week if that!!

LimitIsUp · 08/01/2019 13:14

I weigh every day but only formally record it (so it 'counts') once per week. I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't a smidge lower this morning so I held off eating until lunch time to maximise ketosis.

Well done to those with lbs of fat melted. Brilliant

Livpool · 08/01/2019 13:27

Jumping on this bandwagon as I really need to lose weight - 16 stone 4lbs and 5ft 5. I feel like a whale and have to succeed this time
