Right, this year I'm actually going to do it. 4.5 stone to lose

I've weighed myself and am almost 15 stone at 5' 5. My ideal weight is 10 1/2 stone.

So to get to my ideal weight by next Christmas I need to lose 6lb per month.

I'm giving myself time to ease into it but the plan from tomorrow is -

16:8 fast. This will work well as I'm visiting family and they constantly try to feed us but we can plan visits around eating times!

Increase my steps so I'm walking 15 miles + per week. I don't drive so it means less short bus journeys. Put the money I'd spend on busfare in a little jar to buy lovely beauty treats.

Print out a list of goals and associated treats making sure I link them to inch loss and fitness too, not just the scales. Hopefully this will keep me nicely motivated.

Dry January

From Jan 2nd low carb and lots of water. Follow the bootcamp principles.

Meal prep each weekend so we have handy microwave meals which are healthy.

Anyone fancy joining me?

Good luck! Lots of support from me. How's it going?

BatsAreCool · 26/12/2018 10:12

Good luck. I have 10kg to lose but I am finding it hard now I am the wrong side of 40. It was so much easier when younger and I don't want to follow a diet as I just fail so trying to make sensible choices and no snacking on junk. I don't want to do dry January but am trying to cut down the amount of alcohol generally.

Girlsworld92 · 26/12/2018 10:19

Dry jan will definitely see you off to a
good start. I've got some weight to shift & always find giving up alcohol really helps. Also when you do start drinking again swap to spirits ie gin & slimline tonic or vodka and Diet Coke As not as much sugar as wine or beer. Good luck.

Ginandtonic4all · 26/12/2018 10:26

I'm in. 2019 is going to be my year and a healthier weight is defo part of that.

Haven't thought how I'm going to do it yet. I have probably 8st to loose. 5ft9 and usually 20st. But I think 5 is a realistic goal.

Things I can do today with no planning is no booze, no chocolates and not taking lots of Xmas leftovers home.

Yeah we can do this!!!!

thewinkingprawn · 26/12/2018 10:28

I’m in - I have the exact same to lose as you!!

UnsungHero · 26/12/2018 10:40

I'm in..... will be starting tomorrow though. My work trousers are too tight and I'm sick of rich festive food

I'm considering rejoining slimming world for Theo 'being accountable' side of things

BlueEyedBengal · 26/12/2018 10:43

I'm with you 6 St here to lose. We can do it Smile

BatsAreCool · 26/12/2018 10:44

My motivator is an expensive holiday towards the end of next year. If I can lose the weight I have lots of lovely evening dresses I can wear. If I don't I will have to spend a few hundred replacing them, plus I am finding it uncomfortable just trying to fit into my bras at the moment and I can't bear to replace them again Sad

glenthebattleostrich · 26/12/2018 13:16

Fantastic, welcome aboard everyone!

Good start today. Had some leftover roast beef from yesterday with some salad for lunch. Had water with it too instead of wine. Skipping one of today's deserts too.

I think breaking it down to bite size chunks is helping focus. I'm aiming for 2lb to start this week.

I have a holiday in April so really need to have lost 1.5 stones to get into my holiday clothes. Ideally 2. Which is 1.8lb per week.

I'm in! I am 15 stone at 5'8", and I seem to have a giant tummy. I think my muscles have given up after #3.

I'm not sure where to start though as my real problem is willpower and bad habits. Over the years I have got to the point where I barely eat anything of nutritional value, despite making home cooked, balanced meals for the family.

I'm thinking some kind of alternative fasting with a fitness tracker.

Neverunderfed · 26/12/2018 13:42

Alternate, not alternative 😁

Hefzi · 26/12/2018 13:49

May I come and join you all? I'm planning on joining the next BIWI Bootcamp but could do with some extra accountability! I have about ten stone to lose (realistically - 11 1/2 if you follow the NHS guidelines for my ideal weight: I'm 5'9 and haven't been 9 anything since before puberty Grin) but don't expect it all off before this time next year (though would be delighted - especially if it takes no effort either Grin)

I walk everywhere but struggle enormously with BED - and losing weight is vital for health and mobility reasons for me (have a physical disability that's not helped by being fat) : and it would give my MH a huge boost too.

I have already got an embarrassing beauty stash, OP, so I am going to put the dosh saved from bingeing towards a new bookcase, which is sorely needed!

Ginandtonic4all · 26/12/2018 20:53

So anyone got good suggestions for a healthy, low preparation, on the move breakfast.

Normally I buy a croissant or similar and Diet Coke on the way to work!

glenthebattleostrich · 26/12/2018 22:00

I like ham and cheese rolls for breakfast. Just ham with a chunk of cheese in the middle.

Or a green smoothie. Spinach, blueberries, melon and almond milk.

I started to lose weight in July and I’m down 3 stone so far. Another 2 stone to go. You got this!

TickVG · 26/12/2018 22:38

Can I join? Just had a baby (3 wks ago). Just under 13st at 5'4. Normal pre pregnancy weight was around 10st. Have done most diets before including 5:2 but intrigued by 16:8. Just going to do a bit of research on it now. As I had a c section birth I'm pausing in exercise for a few more weeks which I expect will make weight loss slower than I'd like. Good luck everyone !

UnsungHero · 26/12/2018 23:02

I will weigh in tomorrow as a starting point but I've just ordered some fancy scales which syncs to an app on your phone with weight/bmi/visceral fat etc

UnsungHero · 26/12/2018 23:04

Boiled eggs prepped to go are my saviour with breakfasts

Or I have my carbs then as I've an active job. I know I will burn them off

PawneeParksDept · 26/12/2018 23:09

Can I Place mark ?

Ideally I'd lose more than 4.5 but I've said this before

What I'd really like is suggestions for small meals of the :

Jacket and Tuna
Beans On Toast

variety
So that I am not having things like Lasagne or Fajitas as I think that will help me a lot I really need to eat smaller portions

SureIusedtobetaller · 26/12/2018 23:10

I’m in. Really piled it on recently and nothing fits.
Starting with yoga, walking and swimming, then back to the much neglected gym.
Will just be eating better and cutting out the crap.

Highginx · 26/12/2018 23:14

Can I join you please? I’ve lost two stone since the beginning of November. Had a week off and appalled to find I’ve put half a stone back on!! So now I’ve got about 5 stone to lose. Meh.

GreyandGrumpy48 · 27/12/2018 07:30

Hi can I join. I have 3 and a half stone plus to lose butnit starting until 1 January. I need to do more exercise and control snacking and portion sizes

Weepingwillows12 · 27/12/2018 07:40

I want in too please. I am the heaviest I have ever been after putting on 3 stone in a year. Need to lose 4.5stone. Have three weddings for close friends and family this year (first one in May) and I want to look good. Also want the energy to run around with the kids. Not sure how to do it. Dry January is a must but not sure what else. It's the will power and a lot of self sabotage that's made me put on weight so it's not a case of education about food but how to fix my negative thinking.

Has anyone seen any good apps for that part?

Sportycustard · 27/12/2018 07:44

I would like to join in as well. Would like to lose 5 stone at least.

Changing jobs soon so I have an opportunity to overhaul my routine.

Planning to eat carefully today and up my water intake.

Nishky · 27/12/2018 07:45

Can I join? Three stones to lose. I want to lose the majority by August as this summer I couldn’t wear any of my lovely summer clothes.

So I am wanting to lose 6lbs a month too
