Right, this year I'm actually going to do it. 4.5 stone to lose

I've weighed myself and am almost 15 stone at 5' 5. My ideal weight is 10 1/2 stone.

So to get to my ideal weight by next Christmas I need to lose 6lb per month.

I'm giving myself time to ease into it but the plan from tomorrow is -

16:8 fast. This will work well as I'm visiting family and they constantly try to feed us but we can plan visits around eating times!

Increase my steps so I'm walking 15 miles + per week. I don't drive so it means less short bus journeys. Put the money I'd spend on busfare in a little jar to buy lovely beauty treats.

Print out a list of goals and associated treats making sure I link them to inch loss and fitness too, not just the scales. Hopefully this will keep me nicely motivated.

Dry January

From Jan 2nd low carb and lots of water. Follow the bootcamp principles.

Meal prep each weekend so we have handy microwave meals which are healthy.

Anyone fancy joining me?

OP posts:
Neverunderfed · 31/12/2018 16:07

Deffo. I haven't got it on at the moment as you can probably tell by the 'average 15 steps'. 😂 I'm going to hook it out tomorrow hopefully

Weepingwillows12 · 31/12/2018 16:24

Will try and figure it out tonight and add you guys. Its a new fitbit for me so still working out what to do.

RubySlippers77 · 01/01/2019 00:01

Well, it is NYE and tomorrow I may actually have to face up to the scales!! Expect some wailing!

Haven't given much thought to how I'm actually going to tackle the lard yet but we need to start saving some serious cash, hopefully I can combine the two. At the moment though I'm streaming with cold and can't think straight Sad

Happy New Year to everyone!! Here's to seeing a lot less of us all next year Grin

Cairnzy · 01/01/2019 00:10

Can I join too please? Really let things go last year, and I'm starting to have difficulty with stairs etc. I'm not that old, just bloody obese.
I'm thinking keto... carbs are my downfall.

glenthebattleostrich · 01/01/2019 07:50

Well today is the day!

Good morning and happy New year! Here is to making 2019 our healthiest yet.

I'm a bit hung over so am feeling a bit blurgh. That should make not eating until lunchtime fairly easy!!

My official starting weight is 14 stone 11 lb.

My plan today is bacon and scrambled eggs for lunch and a lovely roast chicken for tea.

The gin is being put away. I have no drinking wine in the house, just a tiny bottle for sauces. Dry January starts here.

Hope everyone had a lovely new years eve.

Snap! I have the same starting weight today glenthebattleostrich. I’m feeling good about making changes in 2019!

glenthebattleostrich · 01/01/2019 08:25

Is it sad that I've spent the last half an hour under a snuggly blanket making spreadsheets? Mile log, weight log and 2019 presents.

OP posts:
WhenCanISleepAgain · 01/01/2019 08:32

I’m still snuggled up in bed. I just got up briefly to weight myself. I did something similar a while back and find it very helpful to have lots of mini goals. The only thing I haven’t done is chart my rewards which I think I should put right now!

Violet25 · 01/01/2019 08:38

I’ll join as well. 20kg at least need to go for me. I think will take the 16:8 approach and watch my carbs, along with more exercise

glenthebattleostrich · 01/01/2019 08:52

Agree on the mini goals. I'm also thinking of putting £1 for each lb lost too.

For the walking challenge I've also downloaded Strava to record my mileage. After 100 miles I'm booking a nice massage. 250 a spa day (yes, I'm a mnet cliché 😁). Will put thinking hat on for others!

Welcome violet.

I'm loving the spreadsheets glen! Must think up some myself. My Fitbit logs mileage (0.93 so far this year!) but I know people who love Strava and MapMyRun.

Faced up to the first challenge of 2019 - weigh in done - I'm 5ft 5 too and 13st 9lb. Gives me 48lb to lose Confused

My next WW payment comes out mid Jan (they gave me some free weeks when I rang to cancel, saying I wasn't going); I might change it to digital only as I do find the app helpful but just don't have the time for meetings at the moment. Although it would probably be more helpful to just stop eating cake...

Off to take the DC for a walk soon. My cold has left me burning with fever, maybe it'll help me burn off a few extra calories?!

Neverunderfed · 01/01/2019 10:15

I'm not starting on the sensible food until tomorrow when dh goes back to work. Pain au chocolate for breakfast, a walk and then snacky dinner today.

Happy new year all!

Feel free to add me on Fitbit anyone.

sparkle789 · 01/01/2019 12:06

I just need to share a proud moment. I was making a coffee and about the get something out of the junk food box (3 kids and Xmas it’s overflowing!!!) and stopped and actually thought am I hungry or is it habit. Realised it didn’t actually want anything and I’m not hungry so didn’t have it.
I know it’s only a small thing for a lot of people but it’s been along time since I’ve put chocolate back!

glenthebattleostrich · 01/01/2019 22:33

Well done sparkle789.

Stuck to eating between 12 and 8 today, not the best choices food wise but stuck to fasting around it. And day one of dry January done. Really quite fancied a glass of wine but resisted. Also resisted chocolate too. Not the best start but not the worst.

I’m with you all too ladies...we can do this!! I’ve 3.5 stone to shift and starting lighterlife tomorrow. Did it 10 yrs ago and lost 8.5 stone and kept it off until last year...3-4 back on. Determination is back ...will be harder with two youngsters this time but I’m sure it can be done!! Xx

RubySlippers77 · 01/01/2019 23:19

Well done sparkle! We have a box of Celebrations here which I was going to give straight to the food bank, but DP opened it - I've stashed it on top of a cupboard so I can't get to it easily.....

Have you done 16:8 before glen? I haven't tried that but am constantly on my feet with two toddlers - need some sort of snack in the evenings to keep me going through the cleaning & tidying up after them.

8.5 stone is incredible J008, was that with Lighterlife too?

Petitprince · 01/01/2019 23:26

Can I join you? I'm in a similar boat.

TechnicalSergeantGarp · 01/01/2019 23:47

Love the ham and cheese rolls and boiled eggs for breakfast on the go. I'm going to try 8:16 - 11 to 7 and plenty of water.

TheHoundsofLove · 02/01/2019 09:07

Happy New Year!
Fortunately, all of our chocolate is gone now!
I have my PILs staying for the next week, so I'm not going to be able to be as strict as I would really like to be. But, I'm going to cut out all processed/added sugar, not snack and am doing Dry January - will just have lunch and dinner the same as everyone else.
I've also bought one of those money boxes that you actually have to smash to extract the money - each week, my 'reward' is going to be putting some money in the box (amount to be decided) and then once I reach my final goal, I'm going to go on a shopping spree. Grin

aurorie11 · 02/01/2019 16:47

I’m in. I lost 3 stone 2 years ago and all but 3lbs has gone back on due to emotional eating - work and elderly parents pressures.
I’ve got to get it off and more, and keep it off.
So starting point 13-11, and want to be under 10 and possibly lower (I’m short).
I follow my own abc plan - no Alcohol, no Bread, no Biscuits, no Chocolate, no Cake, no Crisps.
My stables tend to be porridge for breakfast and soup rather than sandwich

glenthebattleostrich · 02/01/2019 17:08

I like to combine 16:8 with low carb Ruby I find it takes me a couple of days to get back into it but it works well, especially if you have a window of say 11 - 7 or 12 - 8.

Steps are coming along nicely today, 12,115 so far and still have the dog to walk. Food not great but think tackling one bit at a time is essential to making this lasting. I tend to find I eat better when my exercise is at a high level, kind of well I've just walked miles let's not screw it up!! BIWIs low carb boot camp starts on 14th so I'm signing up to that.

Day 2 of dry January. I've bought the yarn to make a lovely baby blanket for a client and started that in the cinema instead of eating my (not inconsiderable) body weight in pick n mix and popcorn. Apparently I'm embarrassing according to my 8 year old 😁

Half a lb off this morning, so pleased about that.
