Anyone in?

Im doing dry jan which will help, better meal planning, and upping the water intake. No official "plan" in mind yet but will look to choosing one soon.

Im weighing in Jan1st, currently just shy of 14stone. I need to hit 9 1/2 to hit a healthy BMI.

Well done everyone, esp Fridge! I have lost 0.5kg so from 77.8 to 77.3kg. I am pleased with that as it’s still heading in the right direction.
Fridge I also eat a shitload of salt and I must be retaining a lot of water. It’s the one thing I can’t seem to give up!

AFridgeTooFar · 08/01/2019 08:06

Fancy hiiiiiii! ❤❤❤❤

AFridgeTooFar · 08/01/2019 08:07

Oops...kids...right. On it. Brb. 😂

NewFitMe · 08/01/2019 08:08

Fridge could you please update my weights in the spreadsheet? And well done you! I still can’t believe how much you’ve lost, it’s so impressive!

Also I’m so tempted to fast all day today but I’d probably end up having another binge. I’m trying to eat normally today but it feels so difficult after yesterday

FancyDrew · 08/01/2019 08:09

Fridge 👋👋 and huge kudos to you on 16lbs- I've never even heard of anyone doing that!!!

FATEdestiny · 08/01/2019 08:11

Really, massive well done @AFridgeTooFar Significant weight losses like that are very motivating. There's no reason why you can't maintain big losses week on week (obvs not over a stone big, but big none the less), so keep the momentum going.

You got the likely reasons spot on.

  • being big to start with means you lose more every time you move
  • you can keep a really big calorie deficit, a much bigger deficit than a smaller person, because you have ample fat stores to draw on for energy
  • you've clearly got over the mental barrier that tells the larger person they "need" to eat more than they actually do
  • water loss will be massive, especially if you've lowered your carb intake
  • salt reduction also reduces water retention.

Really, really well done. I was where you are a year ago and can feel your enthusiasm even over t'internet.

AFridgeTooFar · 08/01/2019 08:18

Fate may I PM you the link to the blog post? I THINK I've explained it ok...I've put in most of what you wrote up there (can't find my arrowshapes...up THERE.) Could you possibly check it over for me, and see if it makes sense?

AFridgeTooFar · 08/01/2019 08:19

@MNHQ@ I AM NOT PLUGGING MY BLOG...IT IS PURELY FOR CHECKING PURPOSES! I promise.

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 08/01/2019 08:21

Are you not allowed to post your blog?! I wouldn’t mind following! Do they still have that Bloggers’ Corner?

Selfish of your kids to expect to be schooled Angry

LittleDoritt · 08/01/2019 08:23

Fantastic losses everyone! Well done Fiontar and Tulips and Fridge particularly.

I'm down 4lbs. I'm ragingly ill and I started my period overnight so I'm classing that loss as a massive win!

If you could put me on the spreadsheet Fridge, I started at 15 stone, now 14.10 😘😘

AFridgeTooFar · 08/01/2019 08:24

I tore someone a new one yesterday for posting a link to a Facebook page, if you remember? And I was a bit of a mouthy twat about it, too. (One thing I DO do is own my shit).

AFridgeTooFar · 08/01/2019 08:25

Little painters in and STILL a loss????

Fuck a moose!!!

LittleDoritt · 08/01/2019 08:35

I know! If that hadn't happened I feel sure it would have been 16lbs like you Grin Grin

BeetlebumShesAGun · 08/01/2019 08:37

Well done everyone in losses - Fridge that is incredible!

I lost 6lbs which I’m over the moon with. Ketosis has kicked in now so I have a lot more energy and feeling less hungry. And a big loss keeps me motivated when I feel tempted!

fatcatshavemorefun · 08/01/2019 08:52

Well done everyone!

I lost a less than impressive 0.4kg, which I think is 0.8 of a pound. Sigh. That’s got to be natural variation rather than a loss I suppose. I have been super good for every meal bar one in the last week so it is frustrating. Am hoping it’s just cos I haven’t got that much to lose that is just harder. Just got to keep going... managed to resist the chocolate chip cookies that have appeared in the kitchen this morning and got gym again tomorrow.

Autumnnymph · 08/01/2019 08:59

@AFridgeTooFar can you add me to the spreadsheet too please?

magoria · 08/01/2019 09:29

16st 3lb today. So 4lb in first week. Must stick with it this time.

Pinkroseuk · 08/01/2019 09:31

Well done everyone!
Somehow by decreasing my food - not eating any rubbish (which I did over Christmas and didn't put anything on) I have gained 1.8kg!
Need to get back on it even more this week - maybe increase to 3 workouts a day?

AFridgeTooFar · 08/01/2019 09:32

Fuck it...It's not like I'm selling anything, and I'm hella proud of this post...

MNHQ I'm more than prepared to be schooled for this...

AFridgeTooFar · 08/01/2019 09:34

Pink if you've been working out hard, that may be the reason for the "gain".

CarrotPuff · 08/01/2019 09:54

Morning everyone, congrats on your weight losses, especially Fridge.

Don't get too disheartened by small losses or even gain, just keep going and you'll get to your goal. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

I forgot to weigh myself first thing, and when I did it looks like my midweek 3lb loss has vanished during overindulgent weekend, and I was the same as last week. I did have a big cup of tea though, so maybe I still lost a lb? Maybe I'll just weigh myself tomorrow morning, a day here or there won't really matter long term.

AFridgeTooFar · 08/01/2019 09:57

Would someone mind giving me a hand?

I THINK I've got everyone on here who requested to be added...

Would someone please check, and correct it if they notice anything?

(I'm registered blind, and doing it on my phone).

On the far right is a running total. If you hit the column befote that, just insert a new one.

AFridgeTooFar · 08/01/2019 10:01

Ps...over 45lb so far between us!!!

And this is inaccurate, because some have weighed in kilos!!!! So it's more!!!!!

StealthNinjaMum · 08/01/2019 10:18

@certainlymerry mfp is hard at first. I have cut down on cappuccinos because I could easily have 2 or 3 in a day and it's a waste of calories, it would be more filling to have an apple. I tend to assume a cappuccino is about 80 to 100 calories - I have skinnies. I also have more herbal tea and assume that has no calories.

With regards to homemade I used to weigh everything at first. It is a real faff but you can enter your own home made recipes and use those. When I do that I will weigh items like pulses, potatoes or pasta as they are high calorie items but I bulk a lot of my food up with lower calorie food like peppers, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes so it doesn't matter so much if you put the wrong figure in. You just have to learn to judge that you have bought a 400g packet of mushrooms and you're using about half or you are using half of a 500g pack of chicken.

In general if I look for something on mfp and it gives me several options I'll pick a higher one. There can be a wide variety of items for example 'chocolate cake'. I do find that these days I will avoid things that I know will be high calorie because it's not worth the calories and I make better decisions but it took time to retrain my mind and body to do this. I have better instincts. Having said that I got in a rut and still put on 3 stone after losing 5 so I have not completely cracked it. But I'm slowly getting there.

Autumnnymph · 08/01/2019 10:41

@FridgeTooFar I am registered blind too! waves I will be on my laptop in a bit and will take a look.
