Anyone in?

Im doing dry jan which will help, better meal planning, and upping the water intake. No official "plan" in mind yet but will look to choosing one soon.

Im weighing in Jan1st, currently just shy of 14stone. I need to hit 9 1/2 to hit a healthy BMI.

Nooooo! Got on the scales this morning and am 12:9!!! I’ve gained 4 lbs overnight and I HAVE to have lost them again for Wednesday weigh in at GP

sobs

No, it’s not my period. I have no idea what the fuck is going on

AFridgeTooFar · 07/01/2019 07:16

Hermione to have gained four true pounds overnight- ie, not water weight, retention, etc, you'd have had to have eaten 14,000 calories over your TDEE, about four days ago. This is 1400 happy meal fries, or 42,000 cream crackers, or two and a half whole bargain buckets of KFC.

-Poo?
-Painters in?
-Pumping iron?

There will be a reason.❤

Hi newbies! We have a spreadsheet of everyone's starting weight, if you'd like to add yours! It's not mandatory, just that a few of us have.

AFridgeTooFar · 07/01/2019 07:40

For all the "non-losers"/fluctuators.

Everyone on here knows how transparent I've been throughout this so far. No cheating whatsoever...I've been quite rigid!

I'm going to weigh daily for the next week. Not just daily- three times a day.

Just to prove that the scales can fluctuate, even if you do everything "right". (There's NO right or wrong way!)

Let me get the Formal weigh in put of the way tomorrow, and I'll start then.

I'm even happy to do a live video on the Facebook group for proof!

Would this help? Would it stop people from being disheartened?

mrbob · 07/01/2019 07:48

I am going to be a bit late on weigh in because I am away but if I weigh first thing Wednesday here then it is still Tuesday night there so I think it is ok ;)
I fluctuate wildly so please don't be disheartened. I think really once a month would be a sensible amount of weighing but obviously I would go nuts having to wait a month to weigh (I accidentally do it most days!)
I think only weighing in the morning after a poo and a wee is my real weight Wink and all others must be wrong

AFridgeTooFar · 07/01/2019 07:52

mrbob I hear you! And the scales have to be in EXACTLY the same place! I have tiles in my bathroom, and I have to line them up exactly there!

Are you ever tempted to weigh again if (sorry...tmi warning) you happen to poo afterwards? This would be counter productive for me, as I cane a shit ton of water first thing in the morning!

GreyandGrumpy48 · 07/01/2019 08:33

Love the clothes idea- I was planning to sort my clothes this week anyway so I think I will borrow it. Not sure how many clothes to keep in smaller sizes as I don’t want to buy much in “intermediate” sizes but dome of the stuff i’ve kept is quite worn and doesn’t inspire me. What are others doing?

AFridgeTooFar · 07/01/2019 08:48

I'm living in the same three pairs of leggings, two sweaters, and one shirt, until the other things fit.

I did just buy a coat from EBay though. Only hoodies fit atm, and my aim to look "nice" as opposed to knocking around in men's tees all the time doesn't fit with a hoodie. Luckily my friend is a size 20, so I'll be able to pass it onto her when it's too big.

Good point actuay- you guys know what a blunt, untactful sod I can be. How do I pass clothes onto her without implying that she's big? She's 5 foot 7, so actually smaller than me proportionally!

HJWT · 07/01/2019 09:20

Hows everyone doing ?? Iv lost 5LB in 6 days so I'm happy with that Grin

AFridgeTooFar · 07/01/2019 09:31

HJWT way to go!

GreyandGrumpy48 · 07/01/2019 09:53

HJWT wonderful 😃

mrbob · 07/01/2019 09:57

certainlymerry · 07/01/2019 10:27

Well done to those who have lost weight! Unfortunately, I have lost ZERO. It's been a week, and I am exactly the same. Gutting.

Yeah, but one of my rules is no fads, so Shit Shake, Goat Piss, and Skinny Plus is out, I'm afraid.

Nice try though!

Mwah!

AFridgeTooFar · 07/01/2019 10:45

@TulipsInbloom1@ I regret nothing. I warned you what a sarky little sod I can be 🤣❤

dogmum0 · 07/01/2019 10:49

I have 100 days to loose a stone before a hen party with 30 beautiful girls!!!!

AFridgeTooFar · 07/01/2019 10:52

dogmum think about it this way...

A 490 a day calorie deficit will be enough to lose a stone in 100 days!

And you can claim somw of that "back" with exercise!

You got this.

StealthNinjaMum · 07/01/2019 10:59

Well done HJWT.

Afridgetoofar / people not losing weight. I know it's really hard, I've gone through it myself. I didn't have a linear weight loss at all and when I was on other mumsnet threads 6/7 years ago my weight loss was always less than the other women on the thread. I lurked on a thread where people did weigh themselves after poos and at various times of the day and it really does make a difference so a fridge too far it's a fantastic idea to do multiple weighing and see how it fluctuates.

The only reason I'm losing weight now is because of the stress of the separation / divorce and I have just stopped eating! If I were on 1200 cals a day - as I had intended - I'd be losing 1/2 - 1 lbs on an average week, 0 on a bad week and maybe 2 on an unusually good week. But on a 0 week I might suddenly find my bum measured less than the previous month.

I hope I'm being encouraging and not condescending / patronising. please don't lose heart.

AFridgeTooFar · 07/01/2019 11:05

please don't lose heart

This. Which is why I want to do the "weighing three times a day" thing...just for this thread. Hand on heart, I GZF about the scales atm. Of course, the huge loss has been mint, but I'm prouder that my insides are healthier than they were last week, and that I have a totally transformed attitude! So...I'll weigh in tomorrow in my usual NPP (Nakey, Post Poo) state, then I'll weigh again after lunch. By then, I'll have not only had lunch, but three coffees, and probably at least a litre of water too.

AFridgeTooFar · 07/01/2019 11:17

KelNbs1 this is a positive, supportive thread...can we keep it that way, please? That means me too- I'm not sorry for my attitude regarding natural supplements (Yes, I clicked on the link) but if I'd thought before I posted, maybe I wouldn't have been so sarky. For that, I apologize.

If you're here for weight loss support, then mintage! Pull up a chair! But posting our own sales pages etc is frowned upon. No one diet is better, or more important, than the other.

StealthNinjaMum · 07/01/2019 11:56

The problem is KelNbs1, you have history of posting in just two threads on mumsnet, both trying to get people to look at a closed Facebook group. That's why you don't seem trustworthy or part of our community. We would love you to join us and tell us a bit more about your weight loss journey but your other post just looks like a sales post.

certainlymerry · 07/01/2019 12:00

In the past when I've lost weight I've aimed for 2lbs a week, and that's what I got on 1000 calories a day. God knows how I managed it, I couldn't do it now! Half a pound a week would just not be enough to motivate me, so I need to do something, find some other approach. I feel a bit thinner, so am trying to ignore the scales!!
Well done everyone, particularly Fridge!

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 07/01/2019 12:09

HJWT - 5lbs is amazing! I’d be over the moon to lose 5lbs in a month! Well done.

I’m another who has lost fuck all. Thanks for being so supportive and emphasising not to lose heart. You’re so right! I also agree about keeping this thread sales-free (I haven’t clicked on the link though so may be mistaken) and let’s just support each other to lose weight in a healthy way, however that may be Smile.

Fiontar649 · 07/01/2019 12:15

Good work HJWT - that's amazing!

I'll echo the above posters - some weeks there will be 0 losses, or gains, and that's all OK - it’s the will power to keep on going that we need to work on. I reckon we are building a nice wee group here, to keep us all ticking along.

Back at work today, I am freezing, starving and my Christmas nails are too long to type with 😂 but my work trousers don't feel too tight!
