Anyone in?

Im doing dry jan which will help, better meal planning, and upping the water intake. No official "plan" in mind yet but will look to choosing one soon.

Im weighing in Jan1st, currently just shy of 14stone. I need to hit 9 1/2 to hit a healthy BMI.

Morning all. Food has been going well not perfect but that’s ok- I know if I get caught up on being perfect then the moment I have a slip it will mean giving up so i’m trying my best but accepting real life gets in the way. Exercise hasn’t gone to plan but I will focus on that next week. Re evening munchies I find drinking peppermint tea helps because it doesn't really go with biscuits

TheHoundsofLove · 05/01/2019 08:07

I recommend peppermint tea too! It is really calming and just doesn't go with any sort of snack.

LittleDoritt · 05/01/2019 08:19

Thanks Hounds, that's encouraging to hear. Hopefully tonight will be better. Only fourteen hours until I can get back in the bed...
I've been having 15 cashew nuts as an evening snack. I'm doing a kind of slimming World/ Whole 30 mash up and that's a HEB on SW.

Elmashbu · 05/01/2019 08:26

Hi

I've sent a request for the Facebook group if it's ok to join.

Thinking today won't be easy- am taking me mam out for lunch so will have to make sensible choices. Can I stop at one macaron? That will nearly break me but if I can only eat one of the plate she will order then I can keep up with this. Confused

AFridgeTooFar · 05/01/2019 08:57

Elma can you look at the menu ahead of time, and make lowish cal choices?

Is it a proper "tea place"? Can you fill up on cucumber sandwiches?

I need to also big up Resistance Bands. I bought them on a whim (£7 on Amazon) and OMG. I'm in love!!! And I'm sweating like a pig! (And I stink!)

Plank workout: completed.
RB workout: completed.
AFridgeTooFar: not quite as Going To Die as yesterday.

AFridgeTooFar · 05/01/2019 08:59

On a side note, if I keep this up, I'll have probably put on a fuckton of weight on Tuesday, due to water retention/muscle ripness/all the ipnesses. I give zero fucks. I never felt better!

certainlymerry · 05/01/2019 10:01

I struggled yesterday. I am sleeping really really badly and got up at 3am and had a piece of toast because I was starving. Then a bowl of muesli this morning. When I calculated the calories in the muesli I was horrified! I also had a tiny piece of christmas cake last night. I was just craving sugar. I felt hungry and tired all day and took no exercise.
Onwards and upwards hopefully.
I'm intrigued by the resistance bands. I wouldn't know what to do with them. Do they come with instructions?
I am also suffering from headaches, but i know this is a sign that it's working. Not detox, just not eating enough I suppose.
Well done Fridge, and everyone else!

certainlymerry · 05/01/2019 10:03

@katty, do you mean Roibush tea?

AFridgeTooFar · 05/01/2019 10:09

Re: resistance bands instructions...there are a fuckload of workouts online. I followed one of those. I've got that nice burning feeling everywhere now!

And I'm HUNGRY! I may even hit my calorie target today!

Fiontar649 · 05/01/2019 11:07

Morning all

Had a good sleep, so I am in good form this morning. Going to hit the shops today, I need some new work tops. I'm hoping to get a couple in the tail-end of the sales.

Breakfast was porridge and strawberries, I will get a salad bowl for lunch while I am out

Have a good day!

Elmashbu · 05/01/2019 11:10

Yeah it's a proper afternoon tea. Will try to pick the best options.

Or may do what my oh says and just enjoy it.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 05/01/2019 11:27

I'm doing well so far (but it's only day four) but did have a headache yesterday. Just read an interesting article about the 5:2 diet (warning - it's in the Daily Mail) and only eating one meal a day (evening) on the fast days so you can have a 'fuller meal'. DD and I have been on a baking spree this week and so far I've resisted tucking into brownies and apple pie.

Elmashbu I would just suspend your regime today to enjoy the afternoon tea. The various articles I've read in recent days have indicated that one shouldn't really be in total 'deny' mode as it's counter-productive. You could have a lovely time an then do 5:2 days back to back to compensate?

TulipsInbloom1 · 05/01/2019 11:29

Morning all. Weekends are going to be a bit of a challenge for me. We usually eat out once and do a picnic on a day out so I'll need to think about what to eat then.

Started off with a banana, brew, and a weighed bowl of muesli. Bloody hell the recommended portion sizes are poor aren't they. 45g was less than the 4yo would eat.

I was doing really well all week and then this morning all went a bit wrong :( the bus didn’t turn up so I missed my exercise class in the gym, although I did run 5Km on the treadmill instead and then my family wanted to go out for brunch but chose a greasy spoon rather than the more hipsterish avocado on sourdough places that we normally go to, lol! There was literally nothing healthy on the greasy spoon menu, it was all full English breakfasts! Not even soup or side salad or anything!!
So I had a bacon baguette (white) :( it’s the first refined carbs ive had for over a month so I feel terrible. It was the size of baguette that you normally get in a sandwich shop and I ate half of it and picked the bacon out of the other half (cut the fat off etc). Do you think it’ll be ok? I’m so annoyed as was doing so well at avoiding white bread and choosing healthy options until today! Do you think half a baguette is going to set me back this week? Willl be having soup for dinner...

certainlymerry · 05/01/2019 16:01

Half a baguette isn't going to wreck everything. It's annoying the that happens, isn't it? The worst is when you're invited to someone else's house and it's all sandwiches and cakes, or sausage roll type stuff. If you have soup for dinner it should be fine.

meow1989 · 05/01/2019 16:37

Today's been better, I had a banana and a flat white for breakfast, a slimfast shake for lunch, a slimfast snack bar and now having a cup of tomato soup with one slice of bread and butter. Plan for a snack later.

Bridesmaid dress shopping with my sister today and her other bridesmaids with tiny figures, feeling big!

meow1989 · 05/01/2019 16:38

Oh, I dd have a moment of weakness and have a quarter of a 6 inch pizza someone else had for lunch buttjats fine

AFridgeTooFar · 05/01/2019 16:51

They say it's so look bad to drink your calories...but I actually had a smoothie for lunch!

Alpro hazelnut, blueberries, cherries and raspberries, with a tablespoon of peanut butter...it was divine!

I had a snack of hummus, cucumber and raw green beans this afternoon. I'll definitely be upping the exercise every day now...I'm SO hungry today!!

And...I've ordered nail stuff and eyeshadow from Avon (the Avon lady is literally my bestie 🤣). I'm acting like an actual girl!!!!!

AFridgeTooFar · 05/01/2019 17:03

Aaaaand...

GUESS WHO HIT 1100 CALORIES?????

Whoever said that I'd feel hungrier when I starred exercising...I LOVE YOU!!!

😃

TulipsInbloom1 · 05/01/2019 17:07

Don't let that half baguette get to you. We ended up at a Chinese buffet place for lunch. I had water, but did indulge in the fried foods too. I would have much rather not gone out for lunch but didn't want to wave dh and the kids off without me. Leftover dhal for dinner this evening will skip the chapati and mango chutney.

Dahl! . Now I know what tomorrow night's dinner will be.

Do you think it'll freeze well? I could eat that stuff in my sleep...I want to make a huge batch!

TheHoundsofLove · 05/01/2019 17:30

I regularly make dahl and can categorically confirm that it freezes perfectly!

AFridgeTooFar · 05/01/2019 17:43

Thank you!!!

I want to try roasting a whole cauliflower too.

AFridgeTooFar · 05/01/2019 17:44

Oh, and I need to ask this...

Is anyone else peeing for England, having upped their water intake?

tryinganewname · 05/01/2019 17:52

Just had the new M&S vegan jackfruit pizza with a big salad - lovely and only 11SP.

So I've had McDonald's and pizza today and stayed on track and within points Grin at McDonald's I had the veggie wrap with a pineapple stick and gave chips to DH (it was a happy meal as DH wanted the Pokemon toys ha!).
