Anyone in?

Im doing dry jan which will help, better meal planning, and upping the water intake. No official "plan" in mind yet but will look to choosing one soon.

Im weighing in Jan1st, currently just shy of 14stone. I need to hit 9 1/2 to hit a healthy BMI.

Yes, we used to have courgetti. It's very wet and limp though, I don't find it very appetizing. Preferable for me (and more protein) to just have a bigger portion of bolognese sauce and nothing on the side.

BeetlebumShesAGun · 03/01/2019 18:09

Evening everyone - well done for keeping on it - we can do this!!

I managed to get out for my first ever Couch to 5k run this morning and it wasn’t too bad apart from I got a huge blister. Apparently I need better trainers and thicker socks. I just don’t want to splurge on new trainers, can anyone recommend decent cheap ish ones?

PinkHeart5914 · 03/01/2019 18:09

Hi all, hope everyone has had a good day food wise

I done 20km on the exercise bike this morning before dh left for work and I’ve been running round after 3 dc all day so that’s exercise too I guess. Once dh is home from work I am going to go for a quick run too.

Porridge and coffee for breakfast
Lunch was beans on toast, sugar free jelly
Dinner is going to be a slice of home made quiche with salad
No snacks 😇

tryinganewname · 03/01/2019 18:13

I was having a great day until "D"H made tea and when I went into the kitchen to get it, found that it was Quorn chicken burgers and chips Envy.

On WW so have my weekly points to be using on it but I was going for a month of blue dots and it's weigh in tomorrow morning!

Hmph.

StealthNinjaMum · 03/01/2019 18:18

Thanks for your kind comments, I was on a thread years about 6 or 7 years ago when I did my big weight loss and I love the support of mums netters. I felt a bit embarrassed when you're all talking about losing weight slowly and it's kind of falling off me at the moment. Today I have had a piece of bread and butter and packet of crisps. Really healthy Hmm

For dinner I am going to try to have a jacket potato with lots of cheese and a Greek salad I made yesterday but couldn't be bothered to eat.

SusanWalker · 03/01/2019 18:35

I have cobbled together a stir fry veggie and pork loin rice for dinner. Really need to do a proper shop but a bit skint till Monday.

I use grated carrot in a Bolognese and grated corgette too. It blends in well texture wise with the beef.

HermioneWeasley · 03/01/2019 18:37

Small bowl of left over turkey chilli (mainly beans) and a slice of toast.....with an appetiser of 3 chicken nuggets the kids didn’t want. Otherwise been a good day.

TulipsInbloom1 · 03/01/2019 18:50

Dinner is grilled halloumi and veggies, a spinach salsa, eggy bread made with wraps to wrap it all in, and some sweet potato wedges

I hoped on scales this morning and looks like I've lost a pound. Hopefully one or two more will follow.

Wasn't really hungry today so didn't have any food until got home from work, so today is kind of a fast day for me, although it'll probably be closer to 700 cals rather than 500, as I scoffed a banana and some cheese when I got in...

wizzler · 03/01/2019 18:52

Hugs to stealth.
Agree with what everyone has said about slow and steady. If I set myself a really stretching goal, and fail, I will turn to maltesers.. So i have set myself half a stone a month and accept it will take me most of the year to get there.

Can I get a round of applause please, because I helped DD make her birthday cake, and I washed up the bowl, rather then attacking it with a spoon and then a finger and slurping up the remains. A first for me.

DD is having a sleepover on friday and saturday, and has requested takeaways so I have made an enormous pot of beef stew to keep me going , and away from the pizza and fries

AFridgeTooFar · 03/01/2019 19:01

Guys I'm struggling.

I don't think that this "two meals a day and no snacking" thing is for me. I ate 2/3 of my lunch, and 1/3 of my dinner...I'm too full. I've eaten about 480 calories so far.

Before I started this, I'd eat shit likd crisps and sweets- a fuckload of calories, but not filling. It seems I don't actually have that big an appetite!

Any tips on how I can get the calories in without feeling full? I'm trying to break the habit of snacking, but if I need to, I will.

Help?

WhenCanISleepAgain · 03/01/2019 19:06

Porridge with banana and honey for breakfast.
Lentil soup for lunch.
Salmon fish cakes and salad for dinner.
(Smarties as a snack Hmm)

Well done wizzler. I find anything sweet very hard to resist.

Two dresses I ordered for two important events next month arrived today. They fit but will look better if I can lose about 7lbs/a couple of inches.

certainlymerry · 03/01/2019 19:13

@Wizzler - round of applause!!

certainlymerry · 03/01/2019 19:16

I've been trying to walk for an hour a day every day, and have stuck to that so far. I had 2 pieces of toast for breakfast and 2 poached eggs. lunch was homemade soup and oatcakes with hummus. Dinner was more veg chilli from yesterday! I've been feeling quite hungry today . I also had a cappuccino.

Winnie2019 · 03/01/2019 19:18

@afridgetoofar - I'm having the shakes from the Forever Living C9 programme.

AFridgeTooFar · 03/01/2019 19:24

Winnie of course...you mentioned it upthread! Sorry.

Fiontar649 · 03/01/2019 19:28

I am spending this week getting used to no junk /processed food, and being fully plant based again after eating all the crisps last month next week I will start actually looking at portions. Dinner tonight, therefore, is a massive portion of air-fried chips

EL2019 · 03/01/2019 19:34

Hi Fridge.

Are you actually weighing everything? It can be easy to underestimate if not.

If you’re not actually hungry why force yourself to eat? I’m sure true hunger will kick in soon. Naturally slim people will have a day of eating little every now and again. Why not just see where it takes you? I did a diet 2 years ago where I had a specific eating plan and for the first week just couldn’t eat that much (4 meals a day about 1200 cals with 200g veg at each meal which is a lot!). After the first week I was able to eat it. And a couple of month in it didn’t feel like enough.

You won’t go into starvation mode (it’s a myth). But you may find hunger kicks in like beast and you go too far the other way and overeat. Can you observe and see what happens?

AFridgeTooFar · 03/01/2019 19:40

EL I'm weighing EVERYTHING...even added tobacco sauce (like three drops!) To MFP. I'm also cross-referencing it with the labels on the back of things, just in case.

When I get hungry again, as you mentioned, will the increased calories halt the weight loss?

EL2019 · 03/01/2019 19:52

As long as you're eating at a deficit over time you'll lose weight. The size of the deficit will determine the amount of weight lost.

Sometimes the true amount of weight loss will be masked by water retention (from exercise, or a big salty meal the night before, or hormones), which is where you look thinner, but the scales don't register the loss.

LOL at weighing tabasco sauce!

StealthNinjaMum · 03/01/2019 19:53

Hi fridge normally I find I get full up in tiny portions - the same as my primary aged children - if I have lots of protein and vegetables.

The things I used to eat that made me fat were rich sauces, biscuits, cakes but mainly carbs like bread and crisps, lots of crisps.

I am eating cheese to get calories at the moment. In the potato / Greek salad I had I didn't scrimp on the feta cheese and butter.

NewFitMe · 03/01/2019 19:54

I agree with EL. Just eat what you feel like eating. Stop stressing about eating too few calories! You’re nourishing your body with nutrients and that might be enough for now. Be happy you don’t feel like starving 😄

yellowsparkles · 03/01/2019 19:59

Can I join in with this too please? I don't have much to lose a stone at the most but I just can't motivate myself or stay focussed enough to shift it! I'm miserable though was mortified with some photos of myself from NYE and it's really getting me down.

Anyone else doing weight watchers? X

AFridgeTooFar · 03/01/2019 20:04

Thanks guys!

And Stealth your diet sounds like mine...I could can a whole pack of Oreos in one sitting.

And seven pints of lager

StealthNinjaMum · 03/01/2019 20:12

afridgetoofar I am very all or nothing with food. Generally if there is food in front of me I eat it so I give myself small plates of food and don't have many snacks in the house. Then I find I don't get that hungry.

Hummus is another thing you could eat if you want to eat calories. I love hummus with veg sticks.
