Anyone in?

Im doing dry jan which will help, better meal planning, and upping the water intake. No official "plan" in mind yet but will look to choosing one soon.

Im weighing in Jan1st, currently just shy of 14stone. I need to hit 9 1/2 to hit a healthy BMI.

Oh and I plotted out my estimated weight loss and over the year, it will take me 8 months just to get into the Overweight category and out of the Obese. Still, this is a lifestyle change, not a crash diet.

That time is gonna go anyway. Either you spend it losing the excess weight or you keep going the old way and probably gain more weight and then it takes even longer and you wish you’ve started earlier! That’s how I look at it anyway. I don’t really care how long it takes as long as I get to a happy weight and stay there and be happy.

Ninjamum im so sorry to hear that. I’m sending hugs your way!

TheHoundsofLove · 03/01/2019 12:48

I agree with New . The time is going to pass anyway - far better to lose even half a pound a week and be getting gradually slimmer, than to do nothing!
I have my PILs staying at the moment so can't be as strict on the meal front as I would perhaps like, but I am sticking to 2 meals a day (lunch and dinner), no snacking and no alcohol.

HJWT · 03/01/2019 13:01

First 2 days i did so well but today I'm craving everything!! Just trying to distract myself 😩

AFridgeTooFar · 03/01/2019 13:02

Ninja (hugs) ❤

WhenCanISleepAgain · 03/01/2019 13:06

I agree it’s easy to get discouraged when I look at how far there is to go but I also know I’ll feel much much more comfortable already when I’ve lost 10lbs and then 20lbs.

So sorry to hear your news Stealth Flowers

Well done others. I’ve found my motivation again. I have just done day one of the 30 Day Shred and am about to have soup for lunch.

Can I join in please? I used to be super slim (with the flattest tummy ever) but I've gradually put on weight over the past ten-fifteen years. I'm a size 14 now and not feeling great about the weight gain at all. I have morphed into the type of middle-aged woman I never thought I would be Sad. Determined to get into better habits this year. I think I eat through boredom and when I'm stressed (and because I grew up to not waste food so I would rather eat something than it be thrown away). Also, I'm not doing nearly as much exercise as I used to when the DC were younger (I regularly would walk over 90K footsteps a week) Clearly my relationship with food and exercise has to change.

Opting to do 16:8 with two meals one carb contaning and one not. Will adjust depending on how I feel a week or so in. Considering allowing myself a weekend treat 'pass' too. Feeling okay today having started yesterday.

certainlymerry · 03/01/2019 13:31

Oh Stealth, so sorry to hear this. You will get through it!
Thank you to all the motivating responses. That's exacting the way to look at it - i can spend the next 8 months putting on more weight or start to lose it, and it is true I will feel better and better. It's not just about the goal, it's the steps on the way. Thank you.

SusanWalker · 03/01/2019 13:35

I think it'll take me at least two years if I'm honest. But that's ok. I only lost a stone and a half last year so am aiming to at least double that this year, but the way I look at it is i could be 22 or even 23 stone if I hadn't at least tried last year. I might not have succeeded a lot of the time but I succeeded a bit of the time and I can at least now fit into my jeans that I couldn't do up before. In fact they need a belt now. And I didn't put any more weight on.

If I'm 15 stone by next Christmas i will be happy. I can work on the final 2 and a half stones next year.

Oh and I can walk much further and faster than I could this time last year. A few months ago DS and I hiked up a huge near vertical hill and then back home the long way. I thought I was dying when I got to the top but I did it. I don't think I could have managed it this time last year.

I just imagine how much lighter and faster i will feel at 15 stone than I do now. Every stone will make me feel better. I am 45 at the end of 2020 so I would like to be at goal by then.

LittleDoritt · 03/01/2019 13:55

I'm so sorry Stealth, that must be unbelievably hard.

I'm another long-termer. The day I finally get into the overweight category, rather than obese, I'll feel like Kate Moss!

SusanWalker · 03/01/2019 14:13

Amen to that LittleDorritt. To be quite frank Id just like to get down to eighteen stone something. That's my first goal.

Flowers for Stealth

Fiontar649 · 03/01/2019 14:52

Sending hugs stealth - this too will pass.

Slow and steady here too - 2018 flew by, 2019 might be the same... if I am here next year without doing anything, I will be bigger. So I might as well do this now and be happier and healthier by Christmas

ResolutionCrew · 03/01/2019 14:57

AFridgeTooFar · 03/01/2019 15:04

Schmoobarb · 03/01/2019 15:14

Exactly this.

AFridgeTooFar · 03/01/2019 16:25

My resistance bands are being delivered tomorrow!

LittleDoritt · 03/01/2019 17:19

I love that feeling on day 3 of a diet when all the bloat is fading and you feel instantly skinny. I'm still ginormous of course but my tummy feels like it's half the size it was on Monday. Grin

LittleDoritt · 03/01/2019 17:22

What's everyone got for dinner tonight then? Chilli with carrots and broccoli for me. No cheese.

FATEdestiny · 03/01/2019 17:25

From scratch bolognese sauce (passata, tom puree, onion, peppers, mushrooms, grated carrot and left over beef joint diced up). DH and I will just have bolognese sauce, kids will have it with pasta.

LittleDoritt · 03/01/2019 17:29

Ooh, I haven't tried it with grated carrot. That sounds like a good padder outer. I usually use lentils if I'm trying to make it go further.

AFridgeTooFar · 03/01/2019 17:37

LM "Pulled pork" burger, baked sweet potato chips and beans. It's what I fancy, and I'm well under my calorie allowance for today.

Winnie2019 · 03/01/2019 17:40

For tonight I have a vanilla shake with raspberries and some aloe vera juice. Yum 😋 Hmm

AFridgeTooFar · 03/01/2019 17:49

Winnie which shakes are you taking?

AFridgeTooFar · 03/01/2019 17:51

Fate have you tried courgetti as a pasta sub? I'm hooked! 🤣
