Anyone in?

Im doing dry jan which will help, better meal planning, and upping the water intake. No official "plan" in mind yet but will look to choosing one soon.

Im weighing in Jan1st, currently just shy of 14stone. I need to hit 9 1/2 to hit a healthy BMI.

I am avoiding a fitbit as I have anxiety and a history of quite severe health anxiety. I don't think monitoring my heart rate would be very healthy for me!

We walked home from camhs via the doctors surgery and the supermarket so a bit of a tramp. I was a bit breathless going up the hill but that was because of my cold and forgetting to take my inhaler. I usually manage it fine.

I might do some walking tomorrow but not pushing it whilst I'm ill.

TulipsInbloom1 · 02/01/2019 21:19

I have a Fitbit which I use mainly for the sleep monitoring, so im planning on tracking more on the steps and exercise fronts.

Uhm, guys... I'm 300 calories under goal and I've just done 25 mins of cardio... where are my abs?

yikesanotherbooboo · 02/01/2019 22:29

Good and bad here.
Meals delicious and nutritious;
Muesli/ yoghourt/ raspberries /blackberries/ spicy broth with beef , greens and rice noodles.
Tempered by a chocolate digestive and two glasses of red wine.
Lots of water and a few
Teas and coffees with semiskimmed milk.
Total calories won't be awful and I've enjoy d feeling virtuous at work where there are still dishes of quality street lying around.
I'm hoping that by easing myself gently into less calories and more activity I won't take fright. I feel slightly empty tonight which is not unpleasant and in recent times a VERY unusual feeling for me. Night night all.

CarrotPuff · 02/01/2019 22:43

A mixed bag here too, there were some biscuits eaten, but I've now put them away into a cupboard out of sight.

Yesterday I went for a run though, and today I've only had lunch (ham & egg sarnie), as didn't feel hungry for dinner. I still have a sore throat so it could be that.

Hopefully tomorrow I can stay away from biscuits and snacks for good. Might even attempt a fast.

mrbob · 03/01/2019 00:59

Is it weird that I am quite excited about discovering a different way to eat? I mean I know the novelty might wear off but at the moment it feels like a fun experiment Grin

Better bloody work though. Turns out exercising on keto is like some sort of torture

AFridgeTooFar · 03/01/2019 07:30

Morning!

Planning a massive spring clean today.

This is twofold, as it's also an opportunity to test myself on whether I can eat on the go- ie, grabbing snacks, as opposed to cooking. I have cold sausages in the fridge (135cals for two), pepper sticks, etc. I'll eat a portion of sausage stew for dinner tonight.

That "bubble, which you don't realize you're in until shit gets real? (Back to your normal life routine, etc) is completely normal!

I'm seeing it like a new relationship...because I'm embarking on a new relationship with food. I'm still in that excited, brand new stage atm, where you're getting to know each other...

It doesn't all change when this part wears off! It develops into deeper shit. He'll, I've been with DH for thirteen years, and probably knew everything about him by the first year. It doesn't just die when the excitement wears off. It develops!

We got this, ladies!

Neoflex · 03/01/2019 07:55

I've stuck to under 1200 calories the past few days, even though it was my birthday yesterday! Instead of cake I went to the gym and ran a 5k.
Feeling so miserable this morning. Went to ride my bike to work and realized I have a flat tire. Even though I pumped both recently. Bike probably needs new tires which will stop me riding to work for a while. I'm sat on the tram, late for work, dressed in cycling gear looking like a twat, feeling sorry for myself.

AFridgeTooFar · 03/01/2019 08:07

Neo sending you a low calorie Brew

GreyandGrumpy48 · 03/01/2019 08:16

Food wise yesterday went to plan but didn’t manage 10,000 steps. It was first day back at work and then I had a dentist appointment so I succumbed to going home and having a peppermint tea. Planning to do 10,000 a day when possible but if not make them up at the weekend. That seems realistic now “real life” is back. Hope everyone has a good day

AFridgeTooFar · 03/01/2019 08:34

Grey 70000 a week does sound more realistic! ❤

AFridgeTooFar · 03/01/2019 08:38

Guys do I want a fitbit?

I'm thinking of getting one as my 20lb off reward?

Fiontar649 · 03/01/2019 08:51

Morning. Had a crappy sleep, I have a lingering cough from the lurgy I had over Christmas, and I woke up coughing during the night.

Going to have a lazy morning, I am tucked up with a mint tea and going to have a snooze. Bonus - I can't eat while I am asleep 🤗

I will be back later! Have a good morning

GreyandGrumpy48 · 03/01/2019 08:57

Afridgetoofar I love my Fitbit and it definitely encourages me to be more active

AFridgeTooFar · 03/01/2019 09:00

Grey will the cheapest wrist one do?

HermioneWeasley · 03/01/2019 09:11

I’ve got the Lintelek activity tracker (about £20) as I really just use as a pedometer and don’t need a Fitbit

LittleDoritt · 03/01/2019 09:12

I love my Fitbit although I have to have a break from it at weekends as it gives me wrist-rot otherwise Grin No one else seems to get that problem. I only use mine for the step count and the challenges so the cheap one does me fine. I find I don't need all the whistles and bells.

LittleDoritt · 03/01/2019 09:15

Sorry you are having such a rubbish morning Neo. Belated birthday wishes for yesterday.
I can't wait to start spring cleaning Fridge Children back at school on Tuesday and then it's GO!

GreyandGrumpy48 · 03/01/2019 10:03

Depends what you want it to do really. I have Alta HR which does heart rate, sleep etc but not stairs climbed. It is mid range and I really like it but if you only want a pedometer the cheaper ones are fine. I have sleep problems do I like the additional information.

certainlymerry · 03/01/2019 10:39

I'm doing well so far, much to my surprise! Made a lovely veg chilli (Jamie Oliver) for dinner which I really really enjoyed. Drinking loads of water, trying to walk for at least an hour a day as I hate gyms.
However, the thought hit me today that it will take me EIGHT MONTHS at 2lb a week to lose 4 stones. That is really quite demoralising. It doesn't do to look so far into the distance. I have never, ever been this overweight.

certainlymerry · 03/01/2019 10:40

Hermione, that link doesn't seem to work!

AFridgeTooFar · 03/01/2019 11:21

Certainly please don't be disheartened! Yup- eight months is a fair bit of time...but how much time have you spent unhappy with your weight? Compare it to that!

It'll take a year for me...so...I'm with you for the (considerably) long haul!

Anyone up for a 30 day plank challenge?

AFridgeTooFar · 03/01/2019 11:52

So...I created a quick face book group for anyone who'd like to join?

www.facebook.com/groups/1259858927496547/?ref=share

It's "closed" atm...but I'll make it secret when people have found it.

I'll edit the description etc later...buried under a pile of clothes atm 🤣

StealthNinjaMum · 03/01/2019 12:27

certainly I went from 191lbs to 125lbs and it did take a long time (year maybe?) but I went down a clothes size after about 3 or 4 weeks and it was the most amazing buzz. I don't just focus on weight loss but on measurements and even unmeasurable stuff like how much easier I find it to walk up a hill. It honestly won't let be long before you're on here telling us you've had to buy some new jeans or leggings.

Having gone down to a size 8 and feeling very happy with myself, the weight has crept up and was 165 lbs. it is now 149lbs and I have started to wear some of my skinnier clothes again. My bigger problem is my dh has unexpectedly asked for a divorce and some days I struggle to eat even 500 calories when I'm aiming for 1200. Thank you to the poster who put the Michael Mosely link up yesterday. I was worried I'd go into starvation mode and I feel a bit better that this doesn't exist. In the mean time I'll try to eat some cheese and a vitamin pill.

TulipsInbloom1 · 03/01/2019 12:28

Made a big risotto last night packed with veg, put a third away for todays lunch then a portion each for dh and I. I managed to skip any garlic bread, just made some for dh.

Will attempt a dhal for dinner this evening. Got about a ton of carrots to use up.
