Anyone in?

Im doing dry jan which will help, better meal planning, and upping the water intake. No official "plan" in mind yet but will look to choosing one soon.

Im weighing in Jan1st, currently just shy of 14stone. I need to hit 9 1/2 to hit a healthy BMI.

Fridge I’ve seen studies that shows a vitamin found in food is not poisonous even if you’re pregnant (incl liver). It’s the synthetic vit a that has been proven poisonous if eaten large amounts. It’s because man made vit a is like a mirror image of the natural vit a. It’s been a while since I’ve studied chemistry so can’t remember for sure what they’re called. Beta?
Anyway don’t worry about that. No one has died of eating too many vitamins from veggies

NewFitMe · 01/01/2019 19:42

My day went great but I can feel a cold coming. My throat is so sore and I feel so sluggish. Went for a 3km walk this morning and had first meal at 12 which was Turkish yogurt, no added sugar mysli and apple. Then ate at 5. Had whole meal egg noodles, frozen veggies and a little bit of gammon. Just not hungry today.

And hey I should be getting my new Fitbit versa delivered tomorrow!! Excited

AFridgeTooFar · 01/01/2019 19:44

Thank you so much for reassuring me!

I have (had...I've given it up) issues with alcohol too...so I'm all too aware that I've already stressed the shite out of my liver.

Elmashbu · 01/01/2019 20:11

I am struggling now not to eat the kids chocolates. I have 300 Cal's left according to mfp. May have to do the joe wicks dvd to avoid eating.

Up to now today seemed to have gone well.

AFridgeTooFar · 01/01/2019 20:23

Elma not after such a good day! 😕

Are there any fun sized ones in the house you can eat? (Chocolate, not kids🤣)

Fiontar649 · 01/01/2019 20:23

Day 1 - stuck to simple food and decided to jump on into 16:8. Finished for the day now.
Elmashbu I am the same when cal counting. I hope that stopping at 8pm will relieve some of that mindless eating I do in front of tv at night.

I ate quite a lot today, I was hungry, but no junk or processed food so happy enough.

Elmashbu · 01/01/2019 20:47

Afridge- Im going to resist the chocolate. Had grapes instead. Actual grapes as well not wine so good girl points to me.

Fiontar649 - what is 16:8 (sorry if that's a dense question)

I don't know how to do the bold tags sorry.

wizzler · 01/01/2019 20:50

Elma... move away from the chocolates!

NewFitMe · 01/01/2019 21:07

Elma it’s when you eat your food in the 8 hour window, 10-6 for example and fast 16 hours

Fiontar649 · 01/01/2019 21:38

I am trying to stick to eating between 12-8 during the week. I am a divil for grazing late at night in front of tv.

Elmashbu · 01/01/2019 21:56

Newfitme does it really work? I find with my work patterns I eat early in day then late in evening regularly miss lunch.

singingismypassion · 01/01/2019 22:01

@Gracey88 I weigh about the same and you and want to lose get down to a similar weight. I would love a WL buddy!

LittleDoritt · 01/01/2019 22:29

Day one done. Only another 19385593932 to go.

yikesanotherbooboo · 01/01/2019 22:47

I am so glad mpressed by you all and your organisational skills. I am going to start tomorrow and mainly do 16:8 and avoiding my downfalls; wine and biscuits when I can. Big meal with all the family today so I knew I wouldn't do well although as I was busy with it all I didn't manage breakfast or dinner and so the calorie intake overall probably wasn't too horrific.
I'm looking forward to feeling lighter and fitter . Sleep well

AFridgeTooFar · 02/01/2019 07:49

Mooooorning!!!!!

I fell asleep at 8.30! Apparantly the kids came and tucked me up, and everything!

Fiontar649 · 02/01/2019 07:55

Morning Fridge - you must have needed a decent sleep - you'll be bouncing today

DH is back at work today. I am planning on giving the house a good clean and clear out my cupboards / do a shop.

I am also planning on snoozing all day.

We'll see...

AFridgeTooFar · 02/01/2019 08:01

Dump the TV on and clean in the ad breaks! 🤣

Catalicious · 02/01/2019 08:24

I’m in! I used to be very active and very slim. Put on 2 stone over the last few years due to an unhappy relationship. Managed to lose a stone so far, but have plateaud at 10’3. Would love to get to 9 and a half stone. Have stocked up on healthy food and run every day so far this year Wink

AFridgeTooFar · 02/01/2019 08:31

You know you've been researching too much when the ad at the bottom of the screen changes from drum kits to treadmills! 🤣

SpikyHedgehogg · 02/01/2019 08:47

Top Ten Diet Myths from Michael Mosley's new website (that seems to be combing all of his findings so far).

GreyandGrumpy48 · 02/01/2019 08:50

AFridgeTooFar · 02/01/2019 09:09

Spiky that article is FANTASTIC!!!

It's cleared up some of my worries about Starvation Mode (I ate peanut butter yesterday, just to get my calories "up". Not because I wanted to!)

And it's ok to skip breakfast! Again, because I'm blogging about it, I'm going to need arguments about this, for when people jump on my back about not having three meals a day!

The amount I ate yesterday, BEFORE I tried to top up my calories with nuts etc, was a fine amount for me...if not a little too much! And added up to just short of 1000 calories.

Is it really ok to have days like this? I could eat food like I did yesterday forever, so it's not like it would be impossible to keep up for the rest of my life!

And the extra 300 that I ate with the top ups, I burned off anyway!

I feel fine today! I'm not dizzy, I've woken up bright and energetic...certainly not feeling like I've starved!

Sorry for banging on...but it's an eye opener!

TheHoundsofLove · 02/01/2019 09:13

Spiky The dieting myths article is an interesting one. The only one that I don't particularly 'agree' with is the exercise one - in simple calorie terms, then yes; but, I feel that exercise has a massively positive effect on my metabolism and I really struggle to lose any weight without it.

AFridgeTooFar · 02/01/2019 09:15

The I interpreted that (I may be wrong) as it's wrong for people to think they can walk a mile a day, eat shit and still lose weight?
