Getting slim over the summer failed so how about less fat before Christmas?

Howlongtillbedtime · 02/09/2018 10:25

I had great intentions at the beginning of the summer but the barbecues and the wine and the ice cream and the generally being out of routine ruined all that.

Well technically me being a greedy shite ruined it !!

So my next goal is Christmas.

I need to lose 3 stone and I am going to be realistic for a change and look at a stone and a half by then.

Anyone care to join me ?

And if you could hang around and give me a kick every now and then that would be great too !

I’m in. I just need to avoid snack temptation!

Howlongtillbedtime · 26/09/2018 07:50

Welcome lovely snacking is my nemesis too. Mfp (when I bloody use it) really helps me to keep on track.

How did everyone get on today?

I've managed to stay within my calories and not snack too much. I'm out for dinner not once but twice this weekend so I need to watch what I'm eating.

I haven't been great at sticking to lighter foods this week, so I've been trying to squeeze in a late gym class where I need to keep the calorie deficit going - e.g. spaghetti bolognese for tea, spin class for supper..!

DH is USELESS at putting the kids to bed though when I go to a late gym class. It's 21:45 now and I can hear them giggling in their room. They are 5 and 3 and have school/preschool tomorrow and we need to be out of the house by 7:20. This will be fun.

Howlongtillbedtime · 27/09/2018 08:20

Good morning everyone.

very I am still struggling but trying hard. We have had an emotional and stressful last week which is always a.massive trigger for me.

Onwards and upwards today!

I hope you managed for her out the door without too much of a struggle. It's annoying that his actions are your consequences.

Ha, the problem is more that I leave at 7:30 and they are supposed to be asleep by 8:30. Then when I get home, they are my problem... grrrrr!

TheVeryHungryDieter · 27/09/2018 08:35

@Howlongtillbedtime keep on keeping on, you're doing the best you can and it won't last forever xx

WickedGoodDoge · 27/09/2018 10:16

I’m having a mixed week. DD brought home chocolate flapjacks from food tech and I’m the only one who will eat them and with my usual not wanting to waste food, feel obliged to eat them! Am having a bit each day which is ruining my no snacking!

I also tried to do my 50km cycle on Monday as the weather was perfect for it, only to find that I had a flat tyre and no spare tubes! All sorted now, but have only had time for my shorter cycle and a couple of gym classes, though the wind is supposed to be low tomorrow so will attempt it again then.

I have two weeks until I go on holiday and would ideally like to have lost another three pounds by then.

TheVeryHungryDieter · 28/09/2018 13:52

It's Friday! Who's still in?

And who needs a kick? Go on! Tell me about your meal plans and exercise plans, and I'll Ask Questions Later.... in a vaguely threatening tone so you'll have to follow through!

Today DH is not well and working from home. This is working out brilliant for me as he's going to have a rest while I take DD on some errands and then he will watch her so I can get to the gym. I don't actually want to go to the gym, I'd prefer to have a nap myself but I'm telling myself I'll feel better for it later.

Breakfast- toast and butter.
Lunch - salad
Dinner - probably a curry of some kind as I'm out with friends tonight. And tomorrow night! I'm planning to stick to something vegetarian and not too much rice if I can though. Hoping it will inspire me to cook more spiced food at home!

Yesterday I hit my lowest weight in over a year, and I'm so relieved now that I can start to see a difference. My jeans feel more comfortable on the waist but annoyingly they are starting to bag at the knees this week as my thighs tone up.

RubySlippers77 · 28/09/2018 15:40

I need a kick please Dieter! Still awaiting the results of my blood tests and hence whether I need extra medication - if nothing else I need iron tablets as I'm completely shattered still. Add to that the DC being utterly demonic and it's a tough time here...

TheVeryHungryDieter · 28/09/2018 18:02

One swift kick to the backside, coming right up!

Rest, be good to yourself. Take your supplements and have a nice cup of tea (skimmed milk, no sugar) and you'll get through this!

For everyone who's struggling with snacks, are you able to build them into your plan? So maybe snack as needed but adjust your meals accordingly?

I am a sugar fiend and my workplace is terrible for people bringing goodies in. If someone has baked brownies at work I'm having one. If there's biscuits or sweets brought back from someone's hols, I'm having two. I've started to make room for that in my diet and have the treat of the day with my coffee! At home I'm buying snacks that are lower calorie so I can still have a treat. So far it seems to be working.

MotherSurvivor · 28/09/2018 18:59

100% with you guys on this.. I've put on 4 stone since last year.. Shock

Sugar, carbs and doughy products are my triggers. I feel that if I'm not strict, that's where I fail!

Its really motivating reading all the posts and seeing other people in the same position. I have struggled with my weight since I was a kid and recently tried working through issues, loving my body no matter what size. It has helped but has kept me gaining weight.. If I really love my body I need to look after it!

Tomorrow = day 1!!!!

TheVeryHungryDieter · 28/09/2018 23:52

@MotherSurvivor good for you! Day 1 starts here!

It is brave of you to start on a weekend day - for most of us the weekend means routine slips away- so if you do make it through, WOW! And if you don't, don't worry - use the time to prepare and plan to do it successfully on Monday. You've got this, and we've got you!

hendricksy · 29/09/2018 07:19

I lost 2 pounds this week again.. 10 pounds gone now

MotherSurvivor · 29/09/2018 10:46

@TheVeryHungryDieter thank you so much!!

You're right about starting on a weekend.. My problem is I suffer from ridiculous anxiety. Including health anxiety, so I have managed to convince myself that I'm getting so ill by binging nearly every day......

I will try focus today.. I had oats with dates this morning.. So fingers crossed I stay on track.

Does anyone else struggle with movement?! I find no motivation to workout even though I feel great after Blush

MotherSurvivor · 29/09/2018 10:47

@hendricksy

Amazing! Well done you x

TheVeryHungryDieter · 29/09/2018 11:03

@hendricksy well done! That's great! I bet you can feel the difference in your clothes already!

@MotherSurvivor yes, I'm terrible with motivation. I worked out on Wednesday and haven't gone the last two days, even though I had both time and opportunity yesterday. DH has now taken both kids swimming this morning - by himself - so now I really have to go!

DH has kindly taken over bedtimes solo (admittedly, I would have to say he's not doing it to a great standard but it's the effort that counts) so that I can get a good head start and workout regularly enough to get into the habit. And now I feel I owe him to do it, and if I skip it, I'm increasing in debt, if you know what I mean? Neither of us have a lot of free time so carving out the time from the few hours we have after work each night is difficult and he is doing me a big favour. That and as I don't have alone time (I work, DC are 3 and 5 and demanding), the gym is pretty much all the alone time I get in a week, so it's a luxury on that count tbh.

I have now lost 17lbs. (As of yesterday. Not today, because I was out last night, we ate late and I'm still very full of tasty Indian food and haven't dared to step on the scales yet.) I'll gain some weight over this weekend but I can see the change in my body and that's a wonderful feeling. I don't want to be skinny. I cook and eat and gain easily, so that's not going to be a realistic target. I just want to have a waist and fit easily in a size 12, and sit down without my belly resting in my lap.

hendricksy · 29/09/2018 11:36

Fanx 🤗🤗

MotherSurvivor · 29/09/2018 13:05

@TheVeryHungryDieter

Ugh I feel your pain re. easily gaining weight!! It's a pain, in the belly! Ha!

Good on you for working out when you did and your current weight loss. That's amazing

I'm a single mum so don't get much free time besides when my son is at school but trying to start a business so I generally sit down with a cuppa and a biscuit or 10 and that's my plan to workout out the window.... Hmm

So I've already let myself down as my mum popped over with freshly baked lemon cake Blush
I have planned to at least workout today plus digging up garden and mow the lawn!
My relationship with food is hideous!!!!!

I would love to spread motivational words to get people moving but I can't even do it myself!!!!

All I can say is keep heading in the right direction guys!!!!

TheVeryHungryDieter · 30/09/2018 21:29

Well, the weekend was an absolute write-off.

Here's to a fresh start on Monday.

Who's with me?!

Howlongtillbedtime · 01/10/2018 07:33

Good morning everyone

I have had such a failure of a week.
Horrible ear infection and a horrible period (TMI) has meant I fell back to type and are too much and skinned too much. I have put 3 bloody pounds in which was not really the plan when this started.
But I am back and I am admitting it.
I was tempted to just slink off and give up but I am not going to.

I am a Muppet but I am getting back on it today.

B. Egg and a slice of toast
L. Soup
D. Check sausages tray bake thing
Snacks will be fruit and a.pack of mini cheddars.

Tonight I will meal plan and shop!

Well done to everyone who is still here and welcome to the new people.

All kicks gratefully received very

Oh no, Howlong ! That’s a shame. Hopefully if part of it has been period related it’ll come off again fairly quickly.

I maintained this week so am still at 9s 13lbs. A bit more than I was hoping to be at this point (go on holiday next Friday and don’t plan to diet while away!). I suspect it was DD’s chocolate flapjacks from food tech that spoiled it for me. I’m quite hungry this morning but am ignoring the lemon blueberry loaf on the counter and having a tea instead. If I get through today, I’m telling myself the rest of the week should be easier.

RubySlippers77 · 01/10/2018 14:40

We went blackberrying yesterday with the intention of getting lots of fresh yummy fruit for the week. Got a fair bit - there's plenty not ripe yet either - but DTS2 ate the lot Shock

I'm still waiting for my doctor's results but in the meantime am down with the sniffles. I've really never had a year where I've been as ill as this!! Ear infections are horrible howlong - hope you are all recovered now.

Did plenty of cleaning today, bit more to finish later and then it's time for the meal planning - I've already had a freezer cleanout and listed everything in there to help me. Not sure if my life can get any more exciting.....

AlanBrazil · 01/10/2018 16:59

Hi all

Not been around for a while but still going. 5lbs lost so far

TheVeryHungryDieter · 01/10/2018 22:57

Good work Alan!

Oh howlong what a dreadful week you've had, but I echo PPs - when it goes up fast, it often comes off again quickly and periods are always a time your body hangs on grimly instead of losing. Be kind to yourself, get as much sleep as you can and drink plenty of water - it should whoosh back down in no time when you start to feel better. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

I have eaten loads this weekend and am trying to get back to where I was on Friday before it all went wrong... I'm going home to see my family for the October half term and they won't have seen me for about eight to ten weeks, so I want to make a good impression! That's now just around the corner!
