We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible…......... 🌟 1205.75lbs 🌟 since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing!

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Nobody Leaves The Thread For Having A Hard Time Paddington hard stare surely that's when we all need each other the most? Looking forward to maintenance tips from both Fezzes and Fate over the next weeks Smile

No wailing here today - was properly anxious about weighing as it's been weeks months since any good result. But 2.5lbs off! Yay!! Tough tough week to get there though. Had a croissant for breakfast as weigh day treat, and now need to try and keep my head in the zone (and hand out of the biscuits...) Total loss 70.5 lbs

Good luck to everyone weighing today Brew

honeysucklejasmine · 03/11/2018 11:38

Congratulations Magic! Lovely milestone.

I did a weigh in this morning just in case Parkrun ruins it again, but will wait and see how I am tomorrow.

Well done Magic a nice loss there. Hope your parkrun goes well honey

I've had another small loss of 1/2lb this week leaving me at a total of 15lb loss. I know I'm just hovering but want to keep my head in the zone so I don't binge through this pregnancy.

My DH and I have a new plan, we're taking out £10 in cash each week for foody treats ie coffee, that chocolate bar I just need. At the end of the week then we'll put left over money in a jar and save it for a non-food treat. I'm going to get my hair cut by the top directors instead of the junior stylist Smile hopefully it will make me think whether I'm eating from boredom or because I really really want it.

PostNotInHaste · 04/11/2018 07:54

Well done Magic! Fate sensible decision and congratulations on how much you’ve lost. Fezzes if anything this thread is more important for the times when we stop losing and for most of us that it will be inevitable at some point. To lose the amount of weight we’re all looking at is bloody hard psychologically and physically. It’s so easy to start off, think ‘oh I’ve finally cracked it’ then hit a wall where nothing has changed in theory but in practice it’s become hard.

That’s where time at maintenance is really helpful. Maintenance is also hard, you still have to work at is and don’t get the ‘reward’ of the scales going down. I’m having a go at not weighing very much but trying to keep an eye with measuring and how my clothes fit as feel I was getting a bit too fixated on the scales. Close friend under strict instructions to tell me immediately she thinks I have put on. I’m just cracking on with trying to stick to exercise and be sensible with food. I know I’ll always have to work at it though, but that’s ok.

ChestyNut · 04/11/2018 08:36

Fezzes am also struggling, finding it so hard to get out of the holiday mindset Sad

So to be accountable...
Amazing holiday and 4 week break +5lb 8oz
Then -2lb 4oz
And a 1/2 gain this week.
Total lost - 57lb 12oz
To lose- 32lbs 4oz
———————————————————-

Line drawn....fresh start Grin

Think I’m going to restart my food diary this week and avoid Costa and the bloody delicious Christmas coffees.

FATEdestiny · 04/11/2018 09:05

Have a look at Beanies Coffee ChestyNut. Absolutely delicious flavoured coffees at only 2 calories.

We've bought the Beanies advent calender this year.

PostNotInHaste · 04/11/2018 09:12

Oh Fate what an excellent advent calendar, thanks for posting that.

Chesty you’ve had an amazing holiday, lost some of the weight already and are 58lbs lighter (which if you find someth8mg that is is basically bloody heavy ) and are KOKOing, so in my book you’re doing bloody brilliantly Flowers

MagicKeysToAsda · 04/11/2018 09:51

@Chestynut that's the equivalent of carrying an average two year old under each arm plus eight Guinea pigs! How amazing are you to have lost all of that?! www.hungryhealthyhappy.com/how-much-weight-have-you-lost-50lbs-is-equivalent-to-a-bale-of-hay/

honeysucklejasmine · 04/11/2018 10:26

Love non-chocolate advent calendars. Need to decide which one I'm getting this year.

Loss this week: 2lbs
Lost to date: 78.75lbs
To lose: 33.25lbs

Can I Join in. Just weighed myself-259lb. Would like to lose 100lb.

  1. Less snacking
  2. Less wine-1 per day maybe (glass not bottle!)
  3. Buying only really boring cheese that I won't just eat
  4. Less meat, more veggies
  5. No sweets, crisps, biscuits, cakes, pastry at all
  6. Using the photocopier at work that isn't in the kitchen to resist temptation to hoover up all the food that birthday boys/girls have kindly left.

Please can you hand hold a bit...

honeysucklejasmine · 04/11/2018 13:58

Hi Froglet, welcome! That's quite a list. Personally I would choose one or two to start with, and add more in when you've got in to the swing of things. It might be a bit overwhelming (and therefore become unachievable) to do all those things at once.

Which one do you think will be easiest to do? Maybe rank them by difficulty, and start with the easiest?

Always here to hold hands. We've been where you are now.

Hi,

Just noticed this in Active Conversations can I join in even though I only want to lose 98lbs? Blush

I’ve been going to SW since May and have lost 42lbs so far - looking forward to getting to the halfway point. Smile

Frogletmamma · 04/11/2018 14:39

Hi honeysuckle . DH wants to lose weight too and we shop together so if we are good we can do 2. 3. 4. by controlling mainly what we buy and have in the house. The cheese one is a big must. I not so long ago spent £30 on cheese....if I just get boring economy cheddar and philadelphia light why would I bother snacking? 5 is a bit of a cheat as these things I normally give up for Lent (and lose weight!). 1. and 6. are the hard ones for me as I know I will drift to the nearest photocopier and should there be an unfinished buffet with a cheese and pickle sandwich on it....

honeysucklejasmine · 04/11/2018 15:45

Hi Persephone! I guess we'll let you off the last 2lbs! Wink Huge congratulations on your progress so far, that's amazing!

Froglet fab! It's always good to have a supportive partner. My DH is a skinny lanky bastard but he's so, so, supportive. If I'm ever as thin as him it'll be because I got sliced in half in a freak accident! 😂 I feel you on the cheese. I love it, I have fantasies about baked camembert. (Un)fortunately my breastfed DS has CMPA so I've not eaten dairy in over a year. (1 year, 2 days, not that I'm counting!)

PersephonePitstop · 04/11/2018 16:14

Thanks honeysucklejasmine, 7 stone was the minimum I need to lose to get a healthy BMI so I guess I should round it up to 100lbs, to be sure.

I’m finding it not too bad at the moment, I miss wine, crisps and chocolate. Cheese is but a distant happy memory.

honeysucklejasmine · 04/11/2018 16:30

Yes, my initial goal was 102lbs (as after I lost 7 stone, there were 4lbs left to get to next round number.

I've since increased it to 112lbs to give me a BMI of 25.

Hi

I’d like to join if I can. I weighed this morning at 117kg/258lbs which at only 5’4 is absolutely not ok. The highest I’ve ever weighed is 136kg/298lbs but I’ve been stuck around my current weight for a while.

I’ve had a very rollercoaster ride of weight loss as an adult. I had a gastric band fitted in 2009 and lost 9 stone but had to have it removed and regained 8 stone. I have binge eating disorder which I was in therapy for but then we moved country twice in a 4 years and had two children in 17 months (the youngest is now almost 2) and everything went on the back burner. I need to sort out my weight now as I can’t keep putting it off.

We’re ttc number 3 and I know that even though I’m lighter than when I conceived ds1 and ds2 it would still be very beneficial do so.

PostNotInHaste · 04/11/2018 19:24

Welcome Mathsymummy, Persephone and Froglet. *Honeysuckle’s advice about making small changes to start with is excellent advice. How this goes will be different for everyone but the biggest thing is to KOKO (Keep on Keeping On). Life will inevitably get in the way, it always does but just keep chipping away at it and very slowly you’ll start feeling the benefits.

Just remembered that clocks change tends to make things a little tricky as a rule on here for any of us who are struggling a bit (definitely includes me).

Mathsymummy · 04/11/2018 19:35

@PostNotInHaste the clocks only changed last night here and I’m trying to night wean a toddler so those two things definitely aren’t my friends 😂

PostNotInHaste · 04/11/2018 19:38

Oh no, I feel for you !!

Mathsymummy · 04/11/2018 21:08

I’m planning to only weigh myself once every 4 weeks, does anyone else do this?

ChestyNut · 04/11/2018 22:11

I think I’m going to go for the Yankee candle advent calendar Smile

AnotherOtter · 05/11/2018 11:52

End of week weigh-in for me yesterday and I gained a little. Had a good week exercise and eating but the week before was awful. Basically stayed in bed, did no exercise and ate too much plus some binges. Still really struggling with my mood and got more medication changes to come. Feel scunnered of it all! On the positive side, my running is going well. I find 10k's make me pretty hungry so think I will do 5 miles 2-3 times a week plus parkrun with the occasional longer run to keep my hand in.

Welcome to the newbies

Mathsy, people here vary a lot on how often they weigh themselves. Some multiple times a day (I don't think this a good idea) to daily (which I do) to weekly to monthly to never (assess changes by clothes). Whatever works for you and how you deal with the information that the scales gives you is very individual. How's the night weaning going? It's a tough time of year for people with small children! I have? had eating disorders too and it's really hard to keep those behaviours under control while dieting/restricting calories

Froglet, I agree with the advice that it might be counterproductive to try to make too many changes all at once. I am quite an all-or-nothing person and find that if one goal fails then I tend to say fuck it and drop the whole lot. That might be totally irrelevant to you of course.

That looks like a great advent calendar, FATE, thank you. I don't take caffeine but it will make an excellent gift.

How are you getting on with the food diary and avoiding Costa, Chesty?

That sounds like a great budgeting (both in terms of calories and money) idea, moonlight. You are doing really well with managing your weight during your pregnancy I think.

Well done MagicKeys on your milestone!

I'm very late to this but pleased you aren't going to leave the thread whilst doing maintenance, fezzes. I definitely think we all should stick around during pauses and when we get to our goals.

Quandary2018 · 05/11/2018 13:00

I’ve stayed the same this week. Frustrating as have been very good food wise, have done less exercise because of half term so clearly need to boost the activity levels!

Mathsymummy · 05/11/2018 14:22

@AnotherOtter night weaning is not going great. Ds2 has always been a terrible sleeper and he’s almost 21 months and I’m just at the stage now where I need some sleep. Dh is being very helpful with it but ds2 is quite vocal in his displeasure 😂

I’m going to stick to monthly weighing in then as it stops me getting as obsessive
