16:8 anyone?

I've restricted myself to eating between 12pm-8pm, so 2 meals and an evening hot chocolate. Just started this week and have lost 4lbs so far Smile
Aiming to loose another 10lbs by the end of September - would anyone like to join me?

Great losses, well done.

I’ve lost 0.5kg bug have also torn a tendon in my leg and am in a walking boot with my leg immobilised and banned from the gym as of yesterday. Really worried as I think I do so many classes that my weight loss will suffer if I can’t burn calories.

PerditaNitt · 26/09/2018 07:16

Nico, that sounds awful. How long are you likely to be out of action? Be realistic and kind to yourself about the weight loss while you are recovering; aim for a plateau and small losses for a couple of weeks. Maybe try cutting your eating window down by a couple of hours a couple of times a week might help? Although I find that 8 hours is hard enough.

How is everyone else doing this week?

NicoAndTheNiners · 26/09/2018 07:34

Absolutely nothing for two weeks. Then maybe be able to do core and balance classes only for a couple of weeks. Then introducing spinning and pump. Might be six weeks before I'm running and doing circuits again. Am rather depressed and trying not to eat shit to cheer myself up.

shazkiwi · 28/09/2018 09:33

I remember tearing ligaments in my ankle. Blimmin painful it was - I was non weight bearing for 2 weeks and longish recovery. If its any consolation I do manage to lose weight without exercising. However I'm an emotional eater which is why I've wound up the size I am.

I have managed a ½ pound loss this week, which I wasn't expecting considering the amount of cake & Prosecco consumed. Ive been back on track for a few days. The next challenge is to avoid the fund-raising cakes at school - Im just going to stand around with a cup of tea & watch my dd eat cake.

arwenearlythereyet · 28/09/2018 09:39

Morning all. My doc has recommended this to me purely as a weight loss strategy. I have 20 kgs to lose (terrifying.) I have medical reasons to lose the weight and it's that rather than the associated benefits that I need to think about initially.

I have skipped through the thread and it looks like you are losing weight - congratulations! But I don't much of a sense of how fast this is working for you, and how much you are losing.

If this is working for you, what's your rate of weight loss?

PerditaNitt · 28/09/2018 21:31

Hi Nico, I hope that you’re still on track and staying positive despite the injury. Maybe try writing down your achievements so far and your goal, and putting them somewhere visible will keep you motivated.

Hi Shaz, not bad work despite the cake! I caved into a couple of brownies at my son’s coffee morning; they were worth the calories though! Yum!

Hi arewenearlythereyet! Welcome to the thread! So far I’ve lost 10 lbs in 5 weeks (started at 12 stones and weighed 11st 4 this morning - this weeks loss was 2.5 lbs). I’ve done this solely through dieting and no exercise other than walking, because I’m recovering from some back problems. I will be adding more exercises next week because my weight might plateau without the extra push. 20kg is a big goal, but if you break it down into smaller targets you will make it. I’ve found this thread has helped keep me on track because it feels good to post losses and writing down my goals and being honest with myself has helped. The first week is hard but keep yourself very busy in the mornings and you will find it easier!

shazkiwi · 28/09/2018 22:57

Hello arwenearlythereyet I have around 25kg to lose. I try not to think about it - I'm concentrating on more achievable goals like going a size down in clothing or getting into the next stone bracket. My cholesterol & blood pressure is higher than it should be so I'm losing for health benefits, also for vanity :) Id love to have more choice of clothing & look better in it too.

I have lost 7 lbs (I think) in 3 weeks. I did manage to avoid cake today, but I'm going out with a friend for brunch on Monday - breaking the 16:8 rule & cake may feature so I wanted to be extra healthy until then.

Congratulations PerditaNitt on passing your 11.5 mini goal

arwenearlythereyet · 29/09/2018 18:35

Hi Shazkiwi. Thanks and congrats on your loss. That sounds really promising!

PerditaNitt · 03/10/2018 09:41

Morning! How is everyone getting on this week?

Nico, are you recovering well from your injury? Shaz, how was your brunch? Must have been nice to have a treat Smile. Arewenearlythere; did you decide to start on 16:8?

shazkiwi · 04/10/2018 14:49

Good afternoon - brunch was lovely but huge! Meeting up with friends is very good for the mind just not the diet :).

Ive had a couple of non scale victories this week - bra strap went in to the middle hooks (was on the outside hooks) & I noticed a couple of my tops are looser now. I don't think anyone else can see a difference but I know changes are happening & thats keeping me motivated.

I find weekends are the hardest to stick to though, with the rest of the family waving buttery toast & croissants around at the wrong time of day. OH keeps asking if I want a glass of wine on Fridays/Saturdays as well, but no I don't because I'm trying to stay away from those empty calories as well!

Fingers crossed for everyone to have a good loss tomorrow

shazkiwi · 05/10/2018 09:17

Good morning, just hopped on the scales & very happy with 2 ½ pound loss. Good luck for everyone else.

PerditaNitt · 05/10/2018 21:40

Great result, Shaz! Nice work!

I had a disappointing week on the scales with a measly half pound loss, but I’m convinced that this is just due to water retention because I had a lot of snacks and salty foods (at least that is what I’m telling myself). I’ve had some good non-scales wins, like Shaz - jeans are looser and my second chin is starting to shrink!

Good luck for the weekend - let’s all avoid those evil croissants and buttery toast (until our eating window starts!).

NicoAndTheNiners · 05/10/2018 21:49

Just weighed myself and I’ve lost 1kg which I’m really happy with seeing as my exercise regime has been a lot less than normal.

Perdita, a loss is still a loss and that’s great. Sometimes I’ve found if I haven’t had a lot of loss one week the next week I lose more than I’d expect.

Well done Shaz,

shazkiwi · 15/10/2018 09:14

Well done Nico for last week ! How did this week go? I had horrible pmt & ate my weight in junk, then managed to catch my youngest daughters stomach bug so I didn't weigh myself on Friday. Hopefully this Friday will give me an accurate picture of what's what. Im not going to put pressure on regarding 16:8 though because I'm still spaced out & need to regain some strength.

PerditaNitt · 16/10/2018 21:13

Hey all. shazkiwi, I hope that you are ok now. I had a tummy bug too and now my 2 year old is off nursery with a lurgy and I’m only surviving the combo of him plus my 4mo by eating carelessly and frequently! Keep repeating to myself “this will pass, this will pass” to keep me sane!

Nico, how are you going? Any more progress on being able to exercise again?

My progress has been pretty good. I’m finally a touch below 11st for the first time since first pregnancy 3 years ago. I’m sure the tummy bug helped Shock. That means that I’ve lost a full stone since starting this way of eating in about 7 weeks, which is faster than I expected. I am really pleased am now focused on getting to 10st 7lbs to get my BMI under 25. I know the next half stone is going to be harder but am feeling quite motivated to keep it up! Hope that this motivates anyone else on the thread going through a bit of a plateau etc.

shazkiwi · 19/10/2018 09:30

Wow Perdita you've been in the wars. Hopefully everyone is on the mend now. Congratulations on 1 stone loss. Happy to say my tummy bug is gone & I just have a cold now which is so much more preferable :)

I weighed in this morning and have lost 2 ½ lbs since last time. We are going away to Weymouth for ½ term & I'll be grateful if I come back the same weight. I have 1 lb to go until my 1 stone loss, so I'm going to use that to motivate me while I'm away. I actually fell asleep last night debating whether I should have some wine on holiday or not. How sad is that ?!

Have a good week, fingers crossed for losses
