16:8 anyone?

kaytee87 · 16/08/2018 07:31

I've restricted myself to eating between 12pm-8pm, so 2 meals and an evening hot chocolate. Just started this week and have lost 4lbs so far Smile
Aiming to loose another 10lbs by the end of September - would anyone like to join me?

Well done everyone on your losses 👍🏼

Kaytee, hope your op goes as planned and you make a quick recovery.

I've lost half a pound this week, which I'm really pleased with as I thought it would be a gain after Eid celebrations and semi-eating what I want. So glad of a loss, albeit small - every little bit counts!

JacNaylor · 24/08/2018 10:04

Thanks @NicoAndTheNiners

Well done @whatifI a small loss on a celebration week is fab and you stayed on track which is the main thing. Did you enjoy yourself?

whatifI · 24/08/2018 12:38

Thank you Jac, I did enjoy myself. I feel like I've overindulged and want simple, light meals now.
No more eating lots of chocolate, puddings, samosas, pakoras or kebabs. Back to curries cooked with minimum oil.

Will try to get back into a routine before I'm back to work next week. My friends tell me this is what they feel like after Christmas!

whatifI · 24/08/2018 12:45

Feel like a jacket potato with cheese and salad for tea tonight 😋

Also trying to wean myself off milk in my coffee. I don't take sugar. Going to put less milk in each time until, hopefully by next week, I like it black

JacNaylor · 24/08/2018 13:49

I definitely feel like that after Christmas Grin sadly it doesn't last!!
Good luck for next week.

Saymaname · 24/08/2018 16:50

Another 1lb for me 👍 we’ll done all ! Ds bday dominos tonight though 😬

Saymaname · 24/08/2018 16:51

*well

NicoAndTheNiners · 25/08/2018 07:54

Well done Saymaname.

NicoAndTheNiners · 25/08/2018 07:56

I did well food wise yesterday sort of.......stared well anyway.

Ham salad for lunch at 12:15. Cheese on toast for tea at 4:45pm.

Headed off to the gym for cycling and then pump class. Then ended up doing combat after pump. So was knackered and starving and then had two slices of garlic bread when I got home about 9pm!

JacNaylor · 25/08/2018 08:18

Well done @Saymaname hope you enjoyed your dominoes.
@NicoAndTheNiners wow that's impressive!!

whatifI · 25/08/2018 14:13

What do you all think about this concept of taking your average weekly weight rather than a one time weekly weigh in?
Just doesn't seem right to me 🤔

16:8 anyone?
JacNaylor · 25/08/2018 14:40

I could live with that!

PerditaNitt · 26/08/2018 22:28

Please can I join? I had my second baby 2 months ago and am slowly starting to face up to the fact that my “eat what you fancy, the baby needs it” approach to food in pregnancy had some flabby consequences!

I need to lose just over 1 stone to get my BMI back in check and 1.5-2 stones to get back to my target weight (last seen on the scales in 2013...). I had success with 5:2 a few years back but it seems too daunting while I’m breastfeeding. This thread has inspired me to try 16:8. I like the fact that like 5:2 it will re-set my ability to be comfortable with being a little hungry and peckish, so I stop constantly looking for snacks (biggest problem with being home for mat leave)! Will be starting on Thursday!

NicoAndTheNiners · 26/08/2018 22:46

Hi Perdita, yes getting comfy with being a bit hungry is a big game changer as far as weight loss is concerned I think. Good luck for starting.

whatifI · 27/08/2018 00:14

Welcome aboard PerditaNitt. I find planning my food and snacks on mfp works best and as you genuinely can only eat so much in that window of time. I try to stick to water and sugar-free hot/cold drinks rest of the time.

JacNaylor · 27/08/2018 06:31

Hello Perdita!!

sawbucks · 27/08/2018 06:35

I've been doing this since May 😊

I haven't lost much though even though I'm restricting calories and working out. However, I only have 10lbs to lake many would argue I have zero to lose. I'm 5'3 and 9st 7lb. Wanting to be 9st 0. Ugh.

JacNaylor · 28/08/2018 19:29

Ooh just realised I'm going to have to watch the great British Bake off without eating cake. That's going to be a challenge!!
How's everybody getting on this week?

PerditaNitt · 29/08/2018 16:25

Great point about GBBO, jac! I’ve recorded it and am saving it for a daytime viewing! First week is going ok - I’m sticking to the eating window, but am eating a lot of rubbish during the window....but in my defence I have been visiting family (Which always involves too much food).

Hello sawbucks, have you found it easy to sustain since May or has it interfered with your social life much? Maybe a month of 5:2 will help kickstart some weight loss?

JacNaylor · 29/08/2018 19:32

I sort of did that too Perdita, stuck to the window and that was all..... in week 1.
Now in week 2 I'm trying to also track more and make better choices. I'm hoping that it's a bit of a gradual process as my body gets used to the shortened hours.

PerditaNitt · 31/08/2018 09:36

Friday Weigh In Results; down from 12st to 11st 11lbs after 5 days. Appreciate most of the 3lb loss is water weight, but am feeling very motivated to keep this up!

Just on my second cup of tea to suppress my morning appetite.

Hope that everyone else has had a good week too!

kaytee87 · 31/08/2018 09:52

Morning everyone. So my surgery was a week ago today, I ended up being kept in as I was taken last on the Friday. On Wednesday I was back at hospital and been given antibiotics for bacterial pneumonia so I feel pretty rotten and exhausted.
I've not been following the timings but I've not been eating much at all due to feeling so unwell.
Just weighed and I've lost another 2lbs so think that's 7lbs now since starting.

Saymaname · 31/08/2018 13:13

Oh poor you, hope you feel better soon Flowers

sawbucks · 31/08/2018 15:12

Thanks @kaytee87.

I've tried 5:2 in the past and by 8pm I feel like I'm literally going insane 😔
The lack of weight loss really has me down. In fact I've gained 2lbs in a week but I'm also premenustral and I've been doing a new weightlifting/HIIT program for the past 3 weeks. I've gone back to MFP to track calories and thinking of 2 months off booze from September 1.

PerditaNitt · 31/08/2018 15:51

That sounds awful kaytee. I hope that you get better soon Flowers.

sawbucks, I know what you mean about 5:2, but maybe it would be easier now you have done 16:8. That said, the 2 months with no booze might just be enough to kickstart things again. It is so hard to stay motivated during a plateau (in the past, I have ended up sabotaging weeks of good work if I start to plateau by giving up too easily); it could just be pre-menstrual water retention which will right itself next week. Keep going!
