16:8 anyone?

kaytee87 · 16/08/2018 07:31

I've restricted myself to eating between 12pm-8pm, so 2 meals and an evening hot chocolate. Just started this week and have lost 4lbs so far Smile
Aiming to loose another 10lbs by the end of September - would anyone like to join me?

I think anything calorie free is fine so yes Diet Coke would technically be ok but I know if I had a diet soda I’d never last without food for much longer. It also makes me crave food/sweet stuff.

Have just had some toast so managed to go from 5:30pm yesterday to midday today with no food.

kaytee87 · 17/08/2018 12:11

Added a boiled egg to my lunch as I didn't have as much cheese left as I thought. Still to have my apple, feel quite full.

Took baseline this morning.

Not eaten anything yet (although I did have two coffees with milk).
Not feeling overly hungry so am going with it.
Need to be very disciplined today (ahem, who am I kidding....!) as it is DS's birthday. Birthday cake later and he has requested an Indian takeaway as his birthday meal... Eeek....

pliable · 17/08/2018 16:18

I've been skipping breakfasts for a long time - years. I have black coffee and that's it. I only have breakfast when holidaying (then I have a lighter lunch). I also don't usually snack, and eat my lunches between 12-1 and dinner between 6-8pm, very rarely deviate from this. I never lost weight as a result of this only. Only recently realised it was called intermittent fasting :)

But, at the moment I'm LCHF and it's working very well. Maybe the 16:8 lifestyle helps me... but by itself it never did.

Good luck!

pliable · 17/08/2018 16:19

@BehindLockNumberNine: the milk in those coffees might hinder your efforts...

Kingkiller · 17/08/2018 16:35

Surely you don't know whether it did? You might have weighed significantly more if you hadn't been doing it!

Saymaname · 17/08/2018 20:00

I think for me it’s where I don’t have a cuppa in the morning, then I don’t have three biscuits with it. Same at 9 /10pm. I’m wedding dress shopping, got a couple of appointments set up for September so see if I feel any different to when I was looking in July.

kaytee87 · 18/08/2018 08:49

Today's lunch will be some kind of eggs with toast and we're having dinner out.

I don't even feel like eating breakfast now, get hungry around 10am and then it passes.

Thinking back, I was at my slimmest when I never used to eat breakfast.

@Saymaname congratulations on your upcoming marriage. I felt like a princess when I chose my wedding dress Smile

Weighed myself this morning (I know I should have waited until Friday but couldn't ----stop help myself!

Lost 2lbs!! Very happy and given me motivation to stick to it and carry on. Tuesday is going to be hard with it being Eid but will try to choose healthy options and failing that will have a cheat day

whatifI · 20/08/2018 11:44

Strike through fail! 😊

JacNaylor · 20/08/2018 11:49

@whatifI
Snap! I had a sneaky weigh in and lost 2lb too. Fingers crossed this will give us all the push we need 😊
Enjoy Eid and don't worry too much, I think setting yourself up to feel like a "failure" because of one day often ends up wrecking the diet (does for me anyway)

I've had to re jig my 8 eating hours the last couple of days because of activities outside my control, which means that I'm now coming up to 20 hours without food.... am hungry now!!

kaytee87 · 21/08/2018 12:15

@JacNaylor @whatifI well done on the weight loss. I weighed this morning and same weight as Friday but not too bothered as it wasn't official weigh in.

Eid Mubarak @whatifI enjoy yourself tonight, you're allowed a night off to celebrate Smile

I just had an egg sandwich for lunch. Won't be having my hot chocolate tonight as I'll be out til after 8pm so not allowed it after that! Planing to have a cup of tea & little bit of chocolate in an hour instead Smile

I have my pre op tomorrow, will be in hospital from 10am til about 2pm so will bring a wrap with me to eat at 12 as I'll no doubt be doing a lot of sitting about waiting.

Well I’ve had a good day yesterday and today.

Sunday night I didn’t eat after 5:30pm and then didn’t eat anything until 11:30am Monday when I had a banana, then at lunch at 1:30, tea at 4:45pm and didn’t eat after I finished my tea. Had chicken salad for lunch and a burger for tea.

Today I didn’t eat until 12:00. Will have tea about 5pm and then hopefully manage till midday again tomorrow. Had a sandwich for lunch and might have pasta for tea.

NicoAndTheNiners · 21/08/2018 15:57

Oh meant to say, found it a bit hard yesterday up till the banana and was then ok, didn’t need lunch for a bit longer.

Found it quite easy from a hunger point of view today but ate at noon as I was starting to feel a bit dizzy, had done 20,000 steps by then!

JacNaylor · 21/08/2018 21:52

@kaytee87 thanks and good luck with the Pre-Op.
@whatifI enjoy Eid!!
@NicoAndTheNiners well done you sound like you're doing brilliantly. Are you trying to do less than the 8 hours?

NicoAndTheNiners · 21/08/2018 21:55

Yes, I’m generally trying to do 19:5

JacNaylor · 21/08/2018 22:06

Gosh, that sounds quite tough, did you find you had to adjust the times as you lost weight?

NicoAndTheNiners · 21/08/2018 22:32

No, not had to adjust the times yet....maybe if I lose a bit more I might. The thing I struggle with is gym workouts.

I can’t do it at weekends as I’m in the gym at 8am doing some hard classes so need to eat before going.

In the week I’m normally good at eating at 11:30 and 4:30 or 12 and 5.

I had a weird day the other week where I ate at 11 and fell asleep, woke up at 6pm. Hadn’t had dinner. Decided it was too late to eat and went to a gym class and had a really bad dizzy spell. So that was a bit silly.

whatifI · 21/08/2018 23:54

Thank you for the kind Eid Mubarak messages. I've just got in from visiting family and friends and a day of fun, laughter and lots of delicious food!

Skipped breakfast and stuck to eating roughly between 3 till 9 only and tried to stick to a small portion of everything available or only a small taste. Managed to say no to all sweets and puddings offered and stuck to diet drinks, tea and water to drink too.

Estimated everything on mfp and came in at approx 2100 cals for the day. Include in that a long leisurely walk after lunch. I don't think I did too bad today as it could have definitely been worse.

Tomorrow Eid celebrations continue, so will try to make good choices and stick to my 16:8 timings, which should be doable as only invited to two places in the evening.

Thursday meeting friends for lunch. Going to look online for menu and decide what I'm having before hand.

Fingers crossed 🤞 I stay the same weight as last week on Friday and don't put any back on.

kaytee87 · 22/08/2018 09:00

You all sound like you're doing so well.
I'm finding it pretty easy to stick to which I'm quite excited about, anytime I've just tried to limit calories I end up caving after a week due to cravings.
Had a sneaky weigh this morning as I know they'll weigh at my pre op anyway, have lost 1lb so that's 5lb since starting - I'd be happy with 1 more by Friday.
I won't be eating all day on Friday as I'll be having surgery, will have dinner if I feel up to it but that will be it.
Lunch today will be a ham & cream cheese wrap and an apple. We're out for dinner and I may have a dessert instead of my usual hot chocolate.

NicoAndTheNiners · 24/08/2018 05:56

Well I’ve lost 3lbs in a week which I’m pleased with.

Well done Kaytee on your 5lbs overall loss, that sounds great.

JacNaylor · 24/08/2018 07:53

I lost 2lb, which I'm pleased with. Conscious that next week will be harder as I'll be out of my holiday bubble but let's see!! Well done everybody 😊

NicoAndTheNiners · 24/08/2018 09:36

Well done Jac, 2lbs is great.
