16:8 anyone?

kaytee87 · 16/08/2018 07:31

I've restricted myself to eating between 12pm-8pm, so 2 meals and an evening hot chocolate. Just started this week and have lost 4lbs so far Smile
Aiming to loose another 10lbs by the end of September - would anyone like to join me?

Well done @PerditaNitt
Hope you're feeling better soon @kaytee87 it sounds like you've had a rough week.
I'm battling with frustration too this week after staying the same despite having a good week. Logically, I quite often don't lose weight in week 2, don't know why. So I need to stick with it. It's annoying though.

whatifI · 01/09/2018 09:59

Sorry to hear you've been so ill kaytee87, hope you're on the mend now and getting better.

Didn't get a chance to update yesterday but I've lost 3lbs this week. I find it difficult when I plan what I'm eating and the rest of the family then go and order a takeaway in the evening. Found it really hard to eat what I had planned and ignore their food!

So glad I didn't though as it's paid off with a good weight loss this week and also given me the motivation to keep going.

JacNaylor · 01/09/2018 11:14

@whatifI 3lb weight loss is brilliant, well done Smile

PerditaNitt · 01/09/2018 21:39

That’s great whatifi! Good on you for resisting the takeaway!

kaytee87 · 03/09/2018 08:35

Feeling quite a lot better today so back on 16:8. Hopefully not done too much damage as I've eaten a couple of takeaways over the past few days eek

On my second cup of tea. Lunch at 12 will be beans on toast, no idea what for dinner. We've had no time / energy to shop at the weekend so maybe i'll need to go to shops this morning after toddlers.

Does anyone know if coffee with milk but no sugar would affect the fast? I can't manage without a couple of coffees.

@FATEdestiny do you know?

FATEdestiny · 03/09/2018 11:32

A true fast would need black, unsweetened coffee. So no milk.

You're still going to have a calorie deficit if you skip breakfast and don't eat during the evening, even if you do have milk in your coffee at fasting times. It's not a true fast but as long as you're calorie intake is properly controlled during the eating time, you should still lose weight.

NicoAndTheNiners · 04/09/2018 10:14

I had a weekend away so only weighed myself yesterday.

In 10 days ive put on 1.5kg however fancy gym scales say I've put on 3kg of muscle and lost 1.5kg of fat which makes sense as I've been lifting a lot of weights in the gym.

I'd be happier with an overall loss but my PT is always delighted when I have a week like this.

sawbucks · 04/09/2018 20:56

Well done @NicoAndTheNiners!

I'm seriously considering 5:2 now to kick start more weight loss. I just HATE fasting and even with 16:8 I am soooo needing food by 12.

PerditaNitt · 04/09/2018 21:56

Great work nico! You’re inspiring me to get active again. I’ve had a bad back for the last few weeks and am only just starting to get back to normal. Have signed up for some mum and baby Pilates classes and am hoping to ramp things up when I’m stronger. Maybe a PT is the way to go...

sawbucks, definitely worth trying the 5:2 or something different for a short while. I found that doing Veganuary helped me shift some weight unexpectedly (no calorie counting, no dieting) because it forced me away from processed foods and snacks.

NicoAndTheNiners · 04/09/2018 22:09

perdita, Pilates is great for a bad back. I used to do it and now do body balance a couple of times a week instead (lots of Pilates type moves) and it’s helped so much.

JacNaylor · 05/09/2018 07:24

Well done Nico, that's a great result!

AntiHop · 05/09/2018 23:40

I've managed to do 8.30 to 4.30 as good windows the last 2 days. I really need coffee in the morning with milk. So the last 2 days, I've had a couple of coffees from 8.30, breakfast around 11, apple a couple of hours later, and my lunch and a final coffee by 4.30.

AntiHop · 05/09/2018 23:40

Food not good windows!

sawbucks · 06/09/2018 04:11

I think I'm going to take a temporary break from fasting and see what happens. I find that when doing 16:8 I am more hungry through the day than when I don't fast,
If I have a protein shake for breakfast (around 11-so by that point it's actually been 15 hours), another for lunch with a boiled egg, and then a 4pm snack (low carb-high protein) and dinner (7pm) I feel sooo much more satisfied than fasting days.
Also feeling really despondent. Have lost no weight despite exercising (4 days weights; 3 days yoga), cutting carbs, calorie tracking. I've been doing all this since Jan and my weight just fluctuates but the average is exactly the same. According to the scale I've gained 1.4lb since Saturday 🙄 and didn't even cheat over the weekend!!

AntiHop · 06/09/2018 08:22

Sorry to hear that @sawbucks. I got a horrible shock after I turned 40 when weightloss suddenly became more difficult.

NicoAndTheNiners · 06/09/2018 17:17

Sorry it's not working for you Sawbucks.

whatifI · 07/09/2018 07:07

I've lost another 3lbs this week!

Got busy few days ahead so may not get chance to post again, so wishing you all good losses today too x

NicoAndTheNiners · 07/09/2018 08:11

Well done WhatifI, I'm weighing myself tonight officially in the gym.

ILiveInSalemsLot · 07/09/2018 09:13

Can I join please? This way of eating seems to be the only way that works for me. I don’t seem to have an off switch so it’s better for me to not eat at all at certain points.
I’m doing 12-7 as an eating window. If I leave it til 8, I always end up snacking on bits of chocolate. 7 is the time when dinner is just finished usually.
I have about 2.5 stones to lose.

JacNaylor · 07/09/2018 16:54

Wow @whatifI you're doing so well
Welcome @ILiveInSalemsLot!

I have almost given up this week because the scales are resolutely stuck and I'm not losing any weight.
The only thing that's stopped me has been the fact that I was undoubtedly feel better eating like this, I have more energy and far less digestive issues.
Giving it another week and we'll see what happens.

NicoAndTheNiners · 07/09/2018 22:22

I’ve lost 1kg in 5 days after last weeks late weigh in.

Didn’t stick to 16:8 at all today with a stressful meeting at work where colleagues brought in biscuits and cakes! Aggh, well tomorrow is another day.

PerditaNitt · 08/09/2018 21:34

sawbucks - it sounds like your other approach is more sustainable for you; good luck with it and I hope it kickstarts the weight loss you are looking for

Welcome iliveinsalemslot
whatifi and nico great job! Keep it up! jac don’t worry, it is just a sticky scales week - next week will be better!

I lost 2lbs this week which I’m very pleased with. I found this weeek a lot easier because I found that once my eating window started I didn’t eat as much because I was getting fuller quicker. I had a couple of mornings where I was very hungry but a cup of tea took the edge off.
