Half a stone off in July? I mean it this time!

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 30/06/2018 09:53

Following on from the ‘half a stone off in June’ thread, where I lost 5lbs, I thought I’d start another one and hope to lose the full 7 this time!

I have a weekend away booked for 4th August. There may be swimwear involved - eep! So that’s a good motivator.

Would anyone like to join me?

I’m planning to do a bit of intermittent fasting (16:8) and also MFP.

I’m still feeding my 5mo, so won’t be doing anything too drastic so as not to lose milk supply.

Also will try it do some more exercise. Yoga and gardening might be my limit, though I’ve been threatening to start running too.

Can I join? I had a baby 3 months ago and have put on 4 stone and can't shift it whatsoever.

I know part of it is down to bad choices with food, and not being able to exercise as often as I did, but I feel so down about how I look.

Hoping joining might help me stay on track and get some much needed self esteem back!

Smarshian · 03/07/2018 08:33

Can I join too please? Currently 11st 6lb and 5'4". Want to get down to initially 10st 2lb (my wedding weight) and eventually 9st 10lb (my comfortable weight).
I'm 18 days post partum at the moment and breastfeeding. Don't want to do anything too restrictive so that my milk supply stays. I am still dropping weight quite rapidly following the birth at the moment so hoping for at least half a stone this month, having been 13st 4lb at 40 weeks.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 03/07/2018 09:06

Welcome both^^, and congratulations on the new arrivals Flowers!

My youngest is a little over 5mo now, so I’m a little further on than @lisa and much further on than @smarshian!

I’m less concerned about milk supply now, but I do find it dips if I do anything drastic with diet. I have to express a lot, so I notice the volume.

Welcome to anyone else I may have missed too Smile.

So my plan for today is;

Breakfast: fruit and nuts, maybe a cereal bar, boiled eggs or some porridge, depending on how hungry I am
Lunch: avocado and cucumber soup, hummus and veg. Maybe some bread or croutons if I’m hungry
Dinner: Asian coconut broth with rice noodles, veg and peanuts
Drinks: loads of water, tea and coffee
Snacks: avoid!

Hope everyone is well and not too hot today.

Morning all, good day for me yesterday:
B/f - homemade baked beans and 2 poached eggs
Lunch - chicken salad and 25g of Jacobs cracker crisps (weighed out from a large bag - a huge achievement for me!) strawberries and single cream
Dinner - chicken, chorizo and pepper kebabs with corn on the cob
I went for a swim in the evening, 50 lengths.

Need another good day today! About to have yoghurt and fruit for breakfast. Another salad for lunch and either chicken or turkey meatballs for tea

Kim82 · 03/07/2018 12:26

Hi everyone. Today is my first day of having no plans since I joined the thread so I can actually start eating properly! My food for today will be:

Breakfast - weetabix with chopped strawberries

Lunch - poached egg and spinach on wholemeal toast

Dinner - chicken stir fry

I’m going to try not to snack but if I do I’ll have fruit rather than my usual crisps...

MozzchopsThirty · 03/07/2018 14:00

Well I've lost 2lbs overnight yay

Bad news is I've decided to drink tonight & go out for the football Smile

But I've eaten well and am going to do some strength work later

3DSpex · 03/07/2018 14:54

I did very well yesterday - walk, swim, healthy low carb salads for lunch and dinner.

Today. Meh. Had a chicken salad for lunch, but sabotaged myself with a wedge of cake for colleague's leaving do. I will be drinking tonight for the footie, too.

Tomorrow is another day.

MozzchopsThirty · 03/07/2018 15:26

@3DSpex let's hope it's worth it Wink

Gilbert82 · 03/07/2018 22:30

Good day here Smile 10,000 steps, an exercise class and managed to keep to around 1200 calories

Thesearepearls · 03/07/2018 22:36

I've not done so well today because my train was late so I couldn't be arsed to go to the gym.

On the upside I did manage to get out and get the dog walked before 7AM! Around 12000 steps today so that's okay

Breakfast was coffee. Well three coffees to be precise. And one piece of mango

Lunch was a tuna steak with rice salad

I got home too late for family dinner (see train failure above) which proved to be a good thing as they all had pizzas. I had three glasses of wine during the England match and a green salad.

Lougle · 03/07/2018 22:57

I'll join you. I've been doing C25k for 9 days, so 5 runs so far, and reduced carbs then, too, as well as increasing my fluid intake. Apart from that, I'm not calorie counting or dieting.

I'm 5'7" and starting weight was 64.8kg. Not overweight, but definite 'Mum tum' after 3 children in 3 years 4 months (9 years ago Blush).

This morning I was 63.1 kg, so 1.7kg (3.75 lbs) lost in 9 days, which I'm pleased with.

Lougle · 04/07/2018 06:55

Wow, I was exhausted after working and school runs yesterday, plus visiting my parents, etc., but I thought I really should fit in a run. I'm lucky enough that I was given a treadmill last month by my parent's after they bought it and realised that they couldn't use it (a get fit idea, but then ill health took its toll).

Today's weight is 62.8kg! That's 2kg down.

beforeihit30 · 04/07/2018 07:08

Great to hear how everyone’s doing, sounds good, even the ones indulging, it’s for special occasions so not just an average day Smile

Good day yesterday, my usual breakfast (berries, full fat yoghurt, cereal), was travelling for work so had a ham and cheese baguette for lunch, then home late so had paella (microwaveable!). Under calories again (about 1400) and not hungry or miserable or anything so all good.

Hope I’m slowly losing...! Following my plateau of late. DH committed to being supportive (by not asking for takeaway and accepting my dinner offerings!) so that’s good too.

pontiouspilates · 04/07/2018 07:36

I seem to have the willpower of a gnat at the moment. All went well until
my boss brought in a homemade cake. It was cut into tiny bits but I still
managed to eat three of them! Today is a new day I guess

bettybyebye · 04/07/2018 08:59

I had an ok day yesterday, very small piece of my BIL’s chocolate birthday cake (homemade by his DM who makes delicious cakes so I had to try a bit!) but pointed it and came within points for the day. No exercise though. Was really hungry all yesterday evening but just drank water and resisted snacks.

Food all planned for today and going to go for a swim tonight.

theredjellybean · 04/07/2018 10:04

I am sulking...
I have eaten under 800 calories last three days.
Had a 550 cal burn run on Monday.
Today put on dress that two weeks ago was loose and it is so tight accross my stomach and boobs it is uncomfortable.
Wtaf.
In the mirror and on the scales I look thinner and weigh less than two weeks ago or a month ago or this time last yr when dress fitted fine... I hate my body so much.
The menopause is just mean and its not fair (stamps foot hard)... I literally can grab huge roll of fat around middle and my boobs feel like watermelons about to burst with over ripeness... Yet scales say I am 156lbs today... What is going on?

Cat12321 · 04/07/2018 10:07

Can I join please?

2 stone of baby weight to lose! I'm only 5'1 and small framed so all weight put on/lost is obvious!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/07/2018 10:39

Jellybean I know this doesn’t make you feel any better, but it’s most likely water retention. Do you normally run? When I first started running I lost virtually no weight for about a month, it’s quite common to experience that. (Apologies if you’re not a new starter!)

A 550 calorie run is a long way, I did 5.5km this morning up hills at a good pace and only burned 300! So if I you are new to running, that’s a lot of pressure to put on your body while also depriving it of calories. The body reacts to this stress in funny ways. If your muscles ache you’re retaining water.

I’d suggest have lots of water today, cucumber, lemon juice, celery etc with your meals and help to flush out some of the water retention.

And be kind to yourself. Flowers

Lougle · 04/07/2018 11:22

Jellybean, if you have scales that say you are lighter, and a mirror that says you are slimmer, then you have lost weight! 550 calories is a huge run! That must be an hour, right? I know an hour of 5.2 mph running is 500 calories. I'm only burning 200/220 in my C25k runs and I'm well pleased with myself for achieving that.

Have you tried drinking more? What's your salt intake like? If have a very salty diet, you'll cling on to the water, but don't go too low, because you can lose a lot of salt by sweating in this weather.

theredjellybean · 04/07/2018 11:40

Thanks everyone. I experienced runner... 550 calories run is about 6-7km for me at quick pace.
I have just got period.. First in nine months. Its probably that causing negative pants mood.
And yes salt balance is an issue, I am salt and fluid restricted due to mod kidney failure and sometimes I don't get it right.
Will drink more and try not to feel old!

Lougle · 04/07/2018 12:12

Oh! If you've got your period you can forget worrying about a dress not fitting as you think it should Smile That's the worst time to judge how you're doing with your weight. Apparently, it's the progesterone that causes the fluid to pull into your tissues, but it should all start to normalise over the course of your period.

Happinessisabook · 04/07/2018 12:16

Can I join?
I'm about 12 stone 9 I think, but I'm only 5 foot 4 so need to lose a couple of stone.

I'm going to try high protein (for fullness), low carb (for bloat) and lots of water.
Good luck everyone 🤞

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 04/07/2018 17:14

Welcome @happiness!

Ok day today, but we had a play date with my lovely, pregnant friend and her dc. So there was a small amount of cake. I was so ready to have only healthy meals and no snacks today. Oh well.

Breakfast was porridge with berries. Lunch, hummus, veg & ciabatta (and cake). Tonight will be cauliflower fajitas with homemade guacamole.

OP posts:
3DSpex · 04/07/2018 18:15

Evening all. Welcome new ones.

Today has been good on the food front.
Skipped breakfast as the heat has killed my morning appetite. Jacket potato with salad for lunch (trying to low carb/up protein, but can’t always stick to it!).
Dinner will be prawn & avocado with a big green salad.
Not weighing myself until next week. Still feeling really bloated 😞

We can do this, though! Yes we can

theredjellybean · 04/07/2018 18:16

Oooh cauliflower fajitas sound yummy.
Can you post recipe.
I had scrambled eggs and spinach and one slice of toast, two skinny cappacinos this morning with dp (we often have a breakfast date) he is off to NYC today for two weeks
And that's it... Now drinking fizzy water and really not hungry.
