Half a stone off in July? I mean it this time!

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 30/06/2018 09:53

Following on from the ‘half a stone off in June’ thread, where I lost 5lbs, I thought I’d start another one and hope to lose the full 7 this time!

I have a weekend away booked for 4th August. There may be swimwear involved - eep! So that’s a good motivator.

Would anyone like to join me?

I’m planning to do a bit of intermittent fasting (16:8) and also MFP.

I’m still feeding my 5mo, so won’t be doing anything too drastic so as not to lose milk supply.

Also will try it do some more exercise. Yoga and gardening might be my limit, though I’ve been threatening to start running too.

I did run on Wednesday, and should do one today, but I'm not sure if I'll fit it in. I weighed 62.7kg today, so slowly chipping away. 2.1kg overall.

Gilbert82 · 06/07/2018 16:55

Well done @Lougle
It’s so hot, not sure I could face running in this heat!

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 06/07/2018 19:42

It’s outrageously hot in my house. I got woken up by teenaged revellers from the local school (prom night?) last night and couldn’t get back to sleep till about 6am, the 3yo has been super clingy and a bit loopy all day, the baby has vommed on me four times this afternoon (he isn’t poorly, just refluxy) and I have consumed approximately 600,000 calories. My dh has just put the fan in front of me and brought me wine. I don’t even care if I gain weight this week. I’m thoroughly fed up with today. Today can go and fuck itself ha!

Hope everyone else is doing better.

@Rhubarb oh dear! Hope things calm for you! Props to DH for sorting out some essentials!

Despite everything I’m keeping better on track (yay), takeaway has been Nando’s as I can opt for chicken breast and salad rather than much greasier and carbier (if that’s a word) alternatives. DH is doing better now which is good. House is in a bit of state and one of our windows has cracked Confused potentially because of the heat so stuff to sort but nonetheless contented.

Ethiopianflower · 06/07/2018 22:21

I would love to join. I weighed myself this morning, in fear, and saw I am now the heaviest I have ever been!!! Put on my runners and went out for 30 mins. Things have got to change!!!!

Gilbert82 · 07/07/2018 08:29

Hope you have a better day today @Rhubarb!

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 07/07/2018 09:05

Thanks both. I had a better night’s sleep, so that’s a good start. Just doing my healthy meal plan and shopping list for next week. That always makes me feel better, even if I’ve not been great recently!

I’ve had a tricky few days and yesterday went out for lunch and had dessert which I wasn’t planning to do. Then wine. So it won’t be a tremendous loss for me this week.

I have just run 12km though, that should go some way to balancing it out!

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 07/07/2018 09:10

Well done on the running everyone

And welcome @Ethiopia sorry - missed you earlier!

I’ve bought a new swimsuit so I’m planning to go and do some lengths this evening. First exercise in a while and I badly need it. I love yoga but I can’t seem to motivate myself to do it in the heat. Maybe I should be doing it outside.

Hi please can I join?
I have been playing at losing weight for ages and doing very badly.
My ds is very overweight too and I need to set a better example to him. He is 13 and finds it very hard to lose weight.
I git on the scales on Monday and nearly died when I saw the numbers!
My bmi is right at the end of the line.
I am a single parent and need to make sure I am fit and healthy to be here for my children.
I decided on Monday enough is enough.
I have been really good all week and am actually looking forward to weighing in on Monday to see what I have done. I know what to do, I'm just rubbish at it!
Ds has eaten healthily all week too but unfortunately had gone to Butlins this weekend with his grandparents. I told him not to stress about food but to make as many healthy choices as he can.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 07/07/2018 13:41

Welcome @ale and well done on your good week! Putting me to shame Blush. Having a better day today, but we have a birthday party this afternoon, so that mightn’t be great food wise. Not sure what to make this evening either, but possibly gazpacho or a salad. It’s too hot to cook!

aleC4 · 07/07/2018 14:16

Thanks, I am sooo determined this time. I have to set an example to my kids.
They are away all weekend and that is usually my downfall but not this time!
I have just had an omelette and a big salad then some fruit. I will however be having at least one glass of wine while watching the football!

Happinessisabook · 07/07/2018 15:11

I took my baby swimming this morning for the first time and oh took a picture of us in the pool. I look huge Blush and feel awful.

Think I'm going to start doing the 5:2 diet to see if I find that easier.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 07/07/2018 17:38

Oh @happiness, I bet you look fine. Nobody likes swimsuit pics.

Well done @ale! You sound very determined 💪🏻.

Had a mid week weigh in and down 2lbs so hopefully it continues! Been really strict, not chocolate, crisps or anything like that. Weekends are the hardest as I tend to snack when I have free time on my hands. Usually train with my PT on the weekend but he's away so had a rest day today and will go for a run tomorrow morning.
Fingers crossed for a 3-4lb loss on Monday!

aleC4 · 07/07/2018 21:11

Happiness it's horrible when you have those moments isn't it.
I put something in this morning and from above thought it looked fine. Then I saw myself in a mirror and was sad.
I am determined more than ever because I hate being fat in hot weather.
I hate not being able to wear lovely floaty dresses and nice shorts.
According to the nhs bmi website I need to lose 4 stone 3 - yikes! Looks like I'm in it for the long haul.

Happinessisabook · 07/07/2018 21:15

Thanks rhubarb but I just genuinely feel like shit. I've gained about 3 stone in the past 3 years. Clothes no longer look good on me, I feel fat and awful and just unattractive.

I need to just stop messing about and lose some weight so i feel better about myself.

3DSpex · 07/07/2018 21:24

I went for a vairrrrr posh lunch in Chelsea wearing a mix of EL Sensuous Nude and YSL Manifesti L’Exir. Got multiple compliments 😊. But still had hours of ‘its coming home’ action, which debased my perfumistry 😆

Going to be in EL Green Tea. House like a an actual green house. Sick with the heat tbh.

3DSpex · 07/07/2018 21:24

going to bed

Ethiopianflower · 07/07/2018 22:07

Little by little we can get there. Deciding to do something is a great start. I downloaded a really useful app - MyFitnessPal - it lets you look at what you are eating and how many calories it has. For me it brings all the rubbish I eat more into my attention. Helps me try and avoid it a bit more!! Good luck everyone ☘️

theredjellybean · 07/07/2018 22:22

After my melt down early this week actually feel quite good.
Have been below 1000cals everyday and scales say 157.4 lbs.
I started last week at 160.1.
So that's a good loss but maintaining it and keeping going is the hard bit.
Well done on everyone who has been running.. I have done one run onky.. Everyday put it off ands its too hot to run... So tomorrow morning it's got to happen!
Another week beckons... We can do this

Howmanysleepstilchristmas · 08/07/2018 07:04

Can I join? I’ve got at least 11lb to lose to get me to 140 (though I’d prefer to be 134, I’d feel comfortable at 140). I’m 5’6” and managed to go from 140 to 176 in 3 months last year due to a combination of turning 40 and starting antidepressants. Since the end of March I’ve lost 27lb (13 weeks) but the last 2 weeks I’ve plateaued at 149 (but up to 151 this morning for some reason...). I’ve basically been only eating after feeling hungry for a hour, and watching the calorie content of what I eat, plus smaller portions and walking more.
Any idea how I can restart my weight loss? I would exercise but it’s sooo hot!!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/07/2018 07:31

I’d had a really good week but then Friday and Saturday have been an unmitigated disaster. Likely to maintain or be a pound up at weigh in tomorrow.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 08/07/2018 08:00

Welcome @Christmas! Well done on weight loss to date.

@thenewaverage

You’re preaching to the choir Grin! I’ll be joining you on the lucky-to-maintain train at weigh in tomorrow Blush. I’m going to try reducing carbs over the next week as see where that goes. I can’t commit to low carb as I’m trying to avoid too much meat and dairy, but I’ll give it a go! I’m so sick of MFP, but I’ll go back to it, if lower carb doesn’t do it for me. Trial and error I think.

I’m also going to go swimming at least once this week and also do some yoga at home / in a class if I can.

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/07/2018 08:33

Rhubarb it’s very hard to low carb if you don’t eat meat or dairy. What do you eat????!!!!

I’m struggling a bit at the moment as I think because I am running pretty well and my body fat % is dropping, my appetite is ramping up to try and find some equilibrium. Hormones, too much alcohol, and feeling like it’s a holiday (due to glorious weather and World Cup vibes) is only exacerbating that.

Back on it today though. Just about to make a spinach and strawberry shake for breakfast.
