Half a stone off in July? I mean it this time!

Following on from the ‘half a stone off in June’ thread, where I lost 5lbs, I thought I’d start another one and hope to lose the full 7 this time!

I have a weekend away booked for 4th August. There may be swimwear involved - eep! So that’s a good motivator.

Would anyone like to join me?

I’m planning to do a bit of intermittent fasting (16:8) and also MFP.

I’m still feeding my 5mo, so won’t be doing anything too drastic so as not to lose milk supply.

Also will try it do some more exercise. Yoga and gardening might be my limit, though I’ve been threatening to start running too.

@thenewaveragebear what is your BMI? I wonder if you might be better using inches and body fat % as a measure alongside weight so you can see what is going on.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/07/2018 18:52

Lexi it’s about 23.5. I have pcos and have been told that due to the high testosterone you can build more muscle (relatively) more quickly, and I do seem to be quite muscular under the surface, but I definitely have some fat and enough (you would think) to be able to lose some more!

raisinsraisins · 20/07/2018 18:52

Has anyone in this thread ever done the chemical diet? I’m on holiday in 2 weeks time and thought I might give it a try next week. Sounds like it combines grapefruit, toast, eggs, meat in various combinations and I’ve heard it really works for a quick short weight loss, but not sure if it’s just a fad.

I’m perimenopausal with an underactive thyroid and I’m finding it really difficult to lose a pound a week or even half a pound. At the moment I’m eating a banana for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch and egg salad for dinner. Snacks are a fruit ice lolly and an apple. So under 1000 calories a day.

theredjellybean · 20/07/2018 21:29

I haven't ever done it.. Short term it might be worth a try.
I have just eaten pizza... But had two slices only and then ruined it by eating over half tub of Ben and Jerry's.. I now feel sick but the ice cream was yummy and what I really wanted so not going to guilt trip over it!

Happinessisabook · 21/07/2018 09:51

So 79.4kg again today.
That's an overall loss of 1.1kg since last weekend.
I'm determined for it to keep going down. I do not want to gain this kilo back again.

Lexilooo · 21/07/2018 11:48

Maintained at 88.3kg again.

Losses seem to have really slowed down now. Might need to be stricter next week if I am going to manage half a stone this month.

I find the ‘science’ of weight loss and healthy eating confusing! I’m eating more calories now but losing more regularly. I think it’s less of falling off the wagon, and much fewer carbs, that are helping. I’ve also cut down caffeine (mainly have green tea, haven’t had coffee in two weeks). I’m averaging about 1700 calories a day, of which 10-20% carbs, 50-60% fat, 20-30% protein. I log through Fitbit to get an idea of how I’m doing. I’m now 159lb (YAY! I’ve reached the 150s!), which so far is a 5lb loss this month. I lost 4lb overall in June with a lot of fluctuation (prior to changing to this diet) so at the moment it’s a more steady loss.

@raisinsraisins I also have an under active thyroid and it took ages for things to settle in order for me to lose weight, hormonal changes seem to have an impact. My doctor recommended low carb, low caffeine, protein (I had very little previously so the amount I’m having now is far more than I used to) to help improve absorption of medication and my energy levels, and also testing my reactions, for instance I’ve found wheat makes me incredibly tired, as does soy milk, and makes my joints ache. I lose weight a lot better now where previously it seemed like nothing would work even though logically it should have. I also get tested for a bunch of other things in my blood work (folic acid, iron, B12, vitamin D) as these can also have an impact, I tend to get low on vit D so have been put on course to boost and then maintain this.

theredjellybean · 22/07/2018 10:20

Beforeihit.. Different things suit different people and it's great you have hit on something that works. Hi fat low car doesn't do it for me Cus I scoff too much cheese!!! Calorie restriction is onky thing tgat works for me.
I stayed same at 157.8 but had two pizza and ice cream suppers last two nights. That was all I ate all day but still :)(

Lexilooo · 22/07/2018 11:46

Plateau broken! 86.8kg this morning! That is 3.5kg since my holiday, and my half stone for the month! Yay!

Obviously going to keep going and see how much I can do before the end of the month.

tiffanysfanny · 22/07/2018 17:29

No changes for me this week. 😩. This weekend has not helped. I hope that Monday is the restart to lose one more killing. I need to get to 60. I didn't make it this week.

tiffanysfanny · 22/07/2018 17:30

Well done everybody. We can do this.

theredjellybean · 23/07/2018 08:13

Another lb off today... Now 157.4.
I had been yoyoing around 163-159 now steadily going down and while had a yoyo over weekend it was 157.8-158.6 and now going back down.
So while not completely steadily always going down the yoyo affect is less

littleredlipstick · 23/07/2018 09:17

1lb this week not sure I will lose 4lb in the remaining week but will try!

It's been quite difficult with no kitchen for the last 2 weeks but should be all finished this week so going to be determined for August

Lexilooo · 23/07/2018 10:48

Popped back up to 87.3kg today so more work still to do 😕

WhenDoISleep · 23/07/2018 13:27

Static for me this week, but that is more to do with the fact we ate out at one of my favourite restaurants on Saturday night as otherwise I lost another 1.5lbs. Firmly back on the wagon today.

Lougle · 23/07/2018 21:54

I'm at 63.0kg again..... It's bobbing up and down.

Lexilooo · 24/07/2018 08:35

Back down to 86.8kg today so yesterday was obviously just a blip 😁

theredjellybean · 24/07/2018 08:42

Oh bugger back to 158.4 today but was definitely up calories yesterday. I had a small gynae procedure which was pretty awful and so spent afternoon sat on sofa eating crisps

Happinessisabook · 24/07/2018 10:09

Hope you're ok jelly bean!

beforeihit30 · 24/07/2018 11:03

@theredjellybean I know what you mean and I still need to still keep an eye on calories as I’m sure I’ll gain otherwise, so my increase is still within my deficit (Fitbit calories adjusted for my activity).

I think what has surprised me has been the power of increasing (I was doing 1500 cals daily, taking anywhere 1200-1500) now I’m doing 1700 (occasionally upwards for treats when I’ve been more active, no more than 1800-2000), in terms of my recommended calories from Fitbit I’m rarely over, if I am it might be by 100-200 but I try to avoid that especially as even with weighing etc I don’t think I can be 100% accurate. So I’m still maintaining a deficit but I’m eating more than I was before (on a daily basis), but I think that over the course of the week I’m having less because I’m not splurging on various treats, takeaways etc because I actually just don’t feel the need/craving.

@theredjellybean hope you’re feeling well Flowers

Final week all, final push! Not sure I’ll make 7lb but happy with the progress!

theredjellybean · 24/07/2018 11:51

Thank you everyone.
Feel better today but a bit delicate! So no running today and having a very 'clean' day... No crisps.. Rpt to self... No crisps

FiveShelties · 25/07/2018 22:54

I am 10 st 2.2 pounds so still have 4.2 pounds to go. Not exactly the speediest diet! But am 2.2 pounds down and that is better than 2.2 pounds on --- much better.

theredjellybean · 26/07/2018 07:41

That's the attitude fiveshelties... I always think if I had done nothing then I would be the lbs I have lost on top of my starting weight and then I'd have more to lose.

Lexilooo · 26/07/2018 08:56

87kg for me today, so although I have gained a little from my lightest this month I have still lost half a stone. Would like to get a bit more off before the end of the month though. Finding low carb makes sticking to my calories easier without feeling too deprived. I can have a glass of wine too!

Happinessisabook · 26/07/2018 09:14

79.1kg today so lightest I've been for a while.
Most likely due to me puking my guts up all last night rather than any real weight loss though Envy (not envy)
