Half a stone off in July? I mean it this time!

Following on from the ‘half a stone off in June’ thread, where I lost 5lbs, I thought I’d start another one and hope to lose the full 7 this time!

I have a weekend away booked for 4th August. There may be swimwear involved - eep! So that’s a good motivator.

Would anyone like to join me?

I’m planning to do a bit of intermittent fasting (16:8) and also MFP.

I’m still feeding my 5mo, so won’t be doing anything too drastic so as not to lose milk supply.

Also will try it do some more exercise. Yoga and gardening might be my limit, though I’ve been threatening to start running too.

So I've gained 2lb. Basically back where I started. I know I've not been as good this week but I didn't think it was that bad you can do this. When this happens to me I tend to eat even more which makes it worse. Stay positive. This is one set back and you can gain that power back.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 15/07/2018 13:30

I agree with tiffany.

Do not push the fuck it button happiness! 2lbs really can just be water. Although the goal was to lose half a stone, I think slow and steady is good too.

I am doing so shit on this thread, but I’m enjoying it, so I’m sticking around Grin.

i agree too...i can lose quite a big amount very quickly then re gain it with one biggish meal...its disheartening and like yoyo dieting in a micro form...so i am trying not to weigh everyday and to be more balanced and not have massive blow out but if going to have take away for example , like i did on friday, i had 3 slices of pizza instead of thinking oh damm it and eating the whole large one myself

theredjellybean · 15/07/2018 18:50

so if you gained 2 lbs , and am back to beginning , it is at least not 2 lbs on top of your starting weight and you are trying , and just try again this week ..dont give up or in 6 months you will be heavier than your starting weight and joining threads like this all over again.

even if being here and trying only makes you stay at starting weight and not lose over all, it is better than not trying and just steadily gaining weight

Happinessisabook · 15/07/2018 19:03

Thanks all, you're right. It's just so disheartening to lose and gain the same 2lb over and over again.

FiveShelties · 15/07/2018 23:42

10stone 6.2pounds have been so stupid over the week-end again. Only have 23 days now and want to lose 8.2pounds.

So this is it - going to stop ruining all my hard work Monday to Thursday by being silly Friday evening to Sunday! I think I am going to have to stop drinking as it always seems to end up eating rubbish in the evening.

So annoying this dieting business when you know it is your own fault!Grin

Lexilooo · 16/07/2018 07:44

Just maintained today but I drank too much wine last night so not surprised really.

Will drink lots of water and be good today in an effort to get back on track.

For those struggling I would really recommend weighing more frequently it helps you see when it is a real gain and when it is a blip. It also means that you don't feel like you have thrown away a whole week with one bad day.

WhenDoISleep · 16/07/2018 10:15

Good week for me - 5lbs lost making a total of 6.25lbs since 1 July. Nice to be moving down as I have plateaued for the last two months. I also managed 4/4 bootcamp sessions last week. Aiming for 4/4 this week again, as from next week I will only make 1/4 due to the DC being off for the summer.

I weigh daily and track my weight in MFP. It really does help to show if gains are a blip or if there is an upward trend in your weight. I find my weight often peaks on Tuesday/Wednesday, but if I look at one Sunday to the next I lose overall for the week.

FiveShelties · 16/07/2018 11:10

Well done WhenDoISleep that is a fantastic weight loss.

That is a good idea to track weight daily - I do tend to have extras on Friday night and then think I will start again on Monday - which leads to three bad days.

littleredlipstick · 16/07/2018 12:14

Another 1lb off for me this week 5lbs to go was hoping for more but pmt and bloating hit me yesterday

Happinessisabook · 16/07/2018 12:16

Weighed myself this morning and 0.4kg down.
So still up from last week, but only by 0.5kg instead of 0.9kg.

Lougle · 16/07/2018 18:15

I do think we need to take the long view. I've just come on to say that I was really gutted that I undid practically all my progress in one day, by having a nice buffet for my parents' anniversary. It put me up by 1.1kg over 2 days, and it's taken a week to bring it back down, probably because I don't diet and I'm only exercising. But, I'm really pleased that this morning, I was 62.6kg again, which is only 0.3kg heavier than my lightest weight so far. I've done another run today, so I should see at least a 0.1kg drop from that, if not 0.2kg. But, I'm eating out tonight.... Oh well!

Half a stone off in July? I mean it this time!
Lexilooo · 17/07/2018 08:13

Just maintained again today despite a good day yesterday. Planning to be strict today as I will fall off the wagon tomorrow as I am having dinner with an old friend and I think the plan is for chinese

joeybarnett · 17/07/2018 14:06

How's it all going?

A bit late to join but I would like to lose half a stone too!

What changes have you guys been making?

I'm currently 9 stone (which I am chubby at) and want to get back to 8 stone 7 - the much leaner me!

Anyone else all good then suddenly BAM you wake up half a stone heavier?!

I swear it's so unfair, I never see it coming!

As always sooo easy to put on the weight then to lose it.

Anyway, what has everyone been doing?!

Happinessisabook · 17/07/2018 15:30

I'm trying to distract myself from wanting a bag of crisps.
I just need to keep remembering that I'm not hungry so I don't need them.

joeybarnett · 17/07/2018 15:45

Same right now wanting to eat everything.

I'm making another cuppa to distract myself! Although there is only so many cups of tea you can have...I'm going to be wired tonight lol

Lexilooo · 17/07/2018 21:35

Try low carb high fat, it really helps you feel less hungry. I'm still not really properly hungry and I haven't eaten since lunch

Happinessisabook · 17/07/2018 21:46

lexi
Every time I try low carb I end up majorly hangry and a nightmare to be around Blush

FiveShelties · 17/07/2018 23:13

10stone 3pounds this morning (Wednesday) - I am very pleased with that. Am absolutely determined not to regain weight this week-end. I have three weeks to go until my flight - five pounds in three weeks.

Happiness - me too, I love my carbs.

Lexilooo · 17/07/2018 23:20

Happiness you probably aren't eating enough fat if you are hungry on low carb. It is a big mindset switch. Try the diet doctor meal plans, honestly I was massively into carbs but once I started low carbing properly it became so much easier.

Soov567 · 18/07/2018 07:02

Think my scales are stuck at 10 stone, haven’t lost for ages

Lexilooo · 18/07/2018 07:12

Maintained again today, slightly frustrated, but realistically I shouldn't be after the losses I had last week.

I am worried what damage tonight's takeaway and wine will do but I will be strict all day today and then get right back on it tomorrow to minimise the effects

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/07/2018 07:24

I’ve not checked in for a few days- i haven’t weighed myself since 9th as I was going to try for a really good few days. So far I’ve managed to keep the carbs low and haven’t had any sugar, pasta, bread etc, although I am going to weigh in tomorrow

I potentially could be so close to my target, so I’m keen to weigh in, but also could be miles from it and be very disappointed!

theredjellybean · 18/07/2018 08:17

I am doing better this week with more steady behaviour rather than really strict then blowing it.
Started in June and have been as high as 163 lbs and as low as 156.6 lbs.. But last few weeks not bounced up and down but losing a little each time I weigh.
Today 157.4. Really pleased and hoping to get to 155lbs by end of month

beforeihit30 · 18/07/2018 08:57

Haven’t checked in for a little bit. Big hugs to everyone on pushing on forward.

I agree with @Lexilooo on diet doctor, I found it really easy to get to grips with low carb high fat using that. I’m the same, I find it much more filling. My lunches are way more calories than before because of the fat, but as a result I’m less hungry at dinner and have lighter dinners. Still, I’m eating more calories overall but losing more weight (bear with me) because I’m not falling to temptation as a result - so maybe 5 days of the week previously I was ‘good’ then I’d end up splurging in lots of food out, dessert, snacks etc. Now I actually just don’t crave it. We are a bit more relaxed one day a week, eg more carbs, or a dessert, but only if we actually fancy it. It was important to us (me and DH, not talking about myself in plural Grin) to have overall a better way of eating and this seems to be working.

I’m 160lb, trend is downwards, and my skirts are fitting better (yay!).
