Oh Goody Emma!!

My flippin' scales are never right at the minute!

Rooicosta · 30/05/2007 12:28

Talking of scales, I was needing some new one's so took advantage of the 50% off at Argos voucher in the new SW magazine. Only problem is, I now weigh 2lbs heavier on these than I did on the old ones, boo hoo! They're very flash though, body fat percentage, body water percentage (very handy), muscle mass etc., so I can really keep a track on everything now!

Had a really good day yesterday doing Mix2Max, Ham salad for lunch and pasta with homemade veg sauce for tea, yum.

I'm not sure what kind of day I'm having today until I go home and decide what to have for lunch! I've had a yoghurt and 2 apples so far so my options are open.

Well done to everyone on their losses - a slim summer is looking very promising!

Joby1970 · 30/05/2007 12:43

wizzywig - stewed apples are a sin

moonlily · 30/05/2007 13:24

Hi all!!
i lost 8 stone with slimming world after i had my son which was cool!! i gave up smoking and put 2 back on but i wasnt too phased as i knew i could get back onto it as id done it before, so i joined a group again and ended up becoming a consultant and taking over my group!!! yaaay!! best job in the world EVER!!
anyway even us consultants cant do it alone so last week i joined my friends group (id been going and doing the weighing in for her and thought im here i might as well become a member!!)
so tonight is my first weigh in after joining and i honestly am not looking forward to it!! i got my star week yesterday early and wasnt prepared with my chocolate snackerjacks and my chocolate scanbran balls so ended up having a HUGE bar of dairy milk instead
oh well 7pm tonight and ill find out!!

rhysmiamum · 30/05/2007 13:39

Hi Moonlily - was thinking of becoming a consultant myself but I'll have to wait till kids are older I think as DP works shifts and my 2 year old is a right trouble maker so maybe one day...

Anyway my question today is.....how do you do the comfortably full thing?? How do you know when you have eaten enough? I always finish my plate, I find it hard not to....I'm wondering if this is slowing my loss down a bit?? Any tips anyone?

wizzywig · 30/05/2007 17:15

maybe thats where ive been going wrong. i eat til im a-gonna burst so maybe thats why my weight loss has been v.v.v slow. thought i could eat til i pop on SW thats why i didnt go back to evil WW. thanks joby for the stewed apple info - boo hoo!!! i overdosed on low fat yoghurt and now i need to find a new dessert. then again its weigh in tonight so that means pig out night!

supermumintraining · 30/05/2007 17:28

hi guys

Sounds like everyone is doing well. I decided to give SW another go, despite my lack of success last year, but I really didn't like the consultant, so I am going it alone.

Anyway does anyone know the password for the website this week. Thanks

Nemo2007 · 30/05/2007 20:39

Evening all
Well am very proud tonight I lost 4lbs and was slimmer of the week so 9lbs off in 2 weeks.

quadrophenia · 30/05/2007 20:40

andyrobo237 · 30/05/2007 21:32

I managed to lose half a pound this week(not brilliant but better than putting it on!!). We are off to Center Parcs on Friday for the weekend so I intend to go to the local class next tuesday morning - wasnt worth it this week as i wold probably put on!! Been to Chester Zoo today so did loads of walking - and only had sandwiches for lunch - no cake!!

BethAndHerBrood · 31/05/2007 09:05

Way to go nemo!!!!! Congrats!!!

I have weigh in this morning. I would like to lose the 2.5 I put on last week, but we'll see!!

Rooicosta · 31/05/2007 09:40

Well done Nemo, that's great! If I can lose that amount in two weeks I'll be well pleased!!! ((((((positive vibes)))))))

fireflyfairy2 · 31/05/2007 10:43

Hi molylily, great to have a consultant on board!

Well done Nemo!!!!!!!!!!! Woohoo!!!

I won our draw last night & we had a cake for the group losing 100 stone! So, ideas of what to do with a butternut squash would be fab!!

Rooicosta, what are the scales called & were they expensive? Might go & get some myself as I have the sw magazine.. is there a voucher in it?

I had 3lb off last night so that's half of what I had gained in the past 2 weeks
But it will come off... I know it will!

lechuga · 31/05/2007 12:02

hi guys,
not having a good week so feeling a bit miserable . It was my dad and brother's birthday on Sunday and mine yday so have been eating a lot of cake and birthday meals in restaurants. I'm going out for a meal with friend's for mine on Saturday too. I just don't seem to be able to go for the Healthier Option when I'm out and usually end up starving myself all day, beoming tipsy after one glass of wine and then inhaling everything else which I know is completely the wrong thing to do. I'm off work this week though so maybe I'll get prepared in advance and make some SW quiche. I made some last week and it was gorgeous although the smell of it did remind me of scones baking in the oven! HAs anybody tried that pasta and sauce quiche? Is it nice?

fireflyfairy2 · 31/05/2007 16:20

Lechuga, get the celebrations out of the way & then go full steam ahead with the weight loss! can you make up some free soup, then you can snack on it through the day, that means you are filled up & may decrease the chances of hoovering everything up once the alcohol hits the gut?

I forgot to post the p/word olive

I have just looked the argos website & those scales were £49.99! But I suppose with the 50% off voucher they are half that... Still a lot, but if they encouaged me to lose weight.... [they don't chant FATTY at me when I stand on by any chance???]

huffpuff · 31/05/2007 19:34

hi all

lost 1 lb tonight - which is good considering i drank by bodyweight in wine over the weekend!!

Back on track this week

Nemo2007 · 31/05/2007 19:53

ohhh need some help tonight..am lagging again and all can think about is chocolate.

maisiedaisy · 31/05/2007 23:27

Not been on here for a while - lost motivation and didn't go to class last week. decided to start again last wed and lost 2lb tonight which takes me to 1 stone loss.
Am very happy.
ps changed name from rachfran

jadeybaby · 01/06/2007 05:55

first weigh in and i gained a pound im so baffed. I followed it all week excersised loads. I am due on any day now and carry alot of water. Can anyone offer an explanation? I seriously didnt eat 2 much well done everyone on there losses

Nemo2007 · 01/06/2007 08:49

jadey it might just be because you are due on, especially if as you say you hold a lot of water.

maisie well done you!!!

Rooicosta · 01/06/2007 10:03

Jadey, like Nemo said, the obvious thing would be water retention. Don't forget that muscle weighs heavier than fat too, so if you've been exercising loads then it could be that you've lost fat but gained muscle, which won't show on the scales. Keep it up though cos it will come off, you'll most likely have a great loss next week!

FFF2, yes those scales are £49.99 by Salter. I've got the ones with the glass top. I wouldn't pay that much for them but as I had the voucher I thought £25 was well worth it and I'm glad I got them now cos they are really good.

fireflyfairy2 · 01/06/2007 10:08

Nemo, did you resist the chocolate???

Hope so!

I had a good day yesterday I think. We went to a Meatloaf concert & i danced my heart out! Headbanging with short hair is hard work!!

Jadey, a few people in my group have gained in the first week... sometimes it takes your body time to get used to the diff foods

laloop · 01/06/2007 10:59

Hi everyone
Was wondering if I could join in with you here? I want to lose around 10 lbs for summer. I exercise frequently (I'm a regular on the Exercise Buddy thread) but snack too much to keep my weight where I would like it to be! Had been going to WW but got bored with their diet so found it hard to stay motivated (although to be fair it has worked for me in the past when I wanted to drop a few lbs).

Have noticed that the Slimming World diet gets good reviews on here so I have decided to switch from WW to Slimming World. Can't get to a Slimming World class as the ones nearby don't have suitable times. I have just signed up this morning with their online programme (Bodyoptimise) but finding it difficult to get my head around the food optimising system. Can anyone explain it to me? I thought there would be books accompanying the online diet but all the info seems to be on the website instead, does anyone know if this is the case?

Thanks

Rooicosta · 01/06/2007 12:15

Hi Laloop & welcome

It basically works like this:

Green days - eat as much pasta, rice, potatoes, cous cous, lentils/ beans, fruit and vegetables as you want.

Original (red) days - eat as much chicken, beef, turkey, lamb, pork, ham, fish (including seafood - prawns, crabsticks) etc, as you want and fruit and vegetables (be careful though as not all vegetables are free on red days - sweetcorn, potatoes, lentils, beans etc aren't).

On both days you can eat as many eggs as you like. Which is great for lunch times when you can't decide what day to go with!

Every day you also choose up to 4 Healthy Extra's (2 x HE a's and 2 x HE b's) The 'A' choices are dairy products, cheese, milk etc, and the 'B' choices are usually bread, cereals, meat for green days, potatoes & pasta etc, for accompaniments to red days. These are all measured amounts.

In addition to this you also get 5 to 15 syns a day to use on anything you like.

It sounds confusing but once you get into it, it really is very easy. The website has the Healthy Extra's listed and also has a syns database/ calculator that you can use to find out the syn value of your favourite foods. I would really recommend you buy the magazine as this is one of the best ways of getting to grips with the diet. It includes a 7 days menu plan and also new foods that are either free or low syn. Stay away from Mix2Max & Success Express for now until you've got to grips with this.

If you've got any more questions, feel free to ask, everyone on here is really helpful. I hope this has helped and good luck.

laloop · 01/06/2007 17:31

Hi Rooicosta, thanks for taking the time to post that info, hopefully I'll get to grips with the SW system soon

Will look for a copy of current magazine and check out the website for the lists of red/green day foods.

Would also be great if anyone has any daily menu suggestions for a SW novice to get me started off [need a "clueless emoticon" for me]!

Thanks
