Hi Fireflyfairy2,

I am off to Greece, I hear its very hot there at the moment, 113 degrees yesterday. Maybe I can just have plenty of water to keep cool and not fancy eating much. I don't mind though as when I come home I will be straight back to SW.

Twilighttime, It is an easy diet to follow. I have tried loads and this one is the only one I have had great success with. If you go to the slimming world website using the password posted further down (onion) you get loads of recipes, tips and advice.
It would probably be worth getting a food directory for SW. They are available cheaply on Ebay. My book is at least 6 years old but still fine to use. If there is anything you are unsure of, just ask here. Good Luck

Fireflyfairy2 · 26/07/2007 12:23

Hi twilightime It was me suggested you ask on here for advice.

First, are you going to do it at home or are you going to join a class?

The classes really are very supportive, but if you decide to do it at home then you will get as much support as you want/need on this thread

You can do a mix of either green & original days, or just green/original days. You will also read original days referred to as "red" days.

On a green day you can have as much pasta/rice/noodles/lentils/potatoes as you want, but limited proteins such as meat, cheese etc... although eggs are free on both days. So on a green day you could have:

Breakfast:

Fruit salad with yoghurt [all free]

Lunch:

Pkt of bachelors pasta with 113g chicken & veg [chicken as HE]

Dinner:

Potatoes, brocolli, carrots, peas, 85gm of roast beef. [Beef as HE]

Then snack on as much fruit/veg as you want throughout the day. You have 4 HE's to use a day. HE (A) are used for calcium ie: cheese & milk. HE (B) are used for bread, meat, fish etc on a green day.

You also get 15 syns a day to use on whatever you want. Butter, gravy, chocolate, glass of wine etc...

On an original day you can eat as much protein as you like, but limited carbs. Same principles apply, HE's used for bread etc & you will have your syns too.

I don't know as much about the original choice as I tend to stick to green days so perhaps someone else can fill you in.

It is definitely the best eating plan I have ever been on & best of all, it actually works!! You will never be hungry as you can pick up fruit anytime you want & snack until your heart is content....or should that be your tummy???

Fireflyfairy2 · 26/07/2007 12:25

Kid, Greece is dangerous at the minute! I saw in the news last night that fires started & there were people dying

Watch yourself & be careful, hopefully it will have cooled slightly by the time you are flying out

hoeggie · 26/07/2007 12:34

Thanks for the password guys!!

I tried to get on there but it asks for your postcode, etc and you have to register properly and my friend told me that different groups have different passwords depending on what are you live in? Is this the case? Is there anyway around it?xx

Joby1970 · 26/07/2007 13:33

its the same password throughtout the country - as far as I'm aware. I don't go to group but still log on the the website just fill in the details as requested - they cannot check.

Fireflyfairy2 · 26/07/2007 13:35

Fill in your own details & you will get the passowrd every week from here. It's the same no matter where you log on from.

It's onion this week.

Twilighttime · 26/07/2007 13:45

Hi Fireflyfairy2 thanks for the advice and information. I was thinking of joining a group but now I'm thinking I might get hold of a food directory and try to do it myself and if that doesn't work, then I'll think again about joining a group. It's good to know that there's lots of support here. Oh and I went to the supermarket today and instead of buying chocolate biscuits and tubs of ice cream I brought lots of fruit and cottage cheese

IndigoMoon · 27/07/2007 01:00

Well I went to weigh in and I lost another pound and a half!!!

so in eleven weeks i have lost fifteen and a half pounds - with which I am very pleased!!!!!

kid · 27/07/2007 09:24

Weigh in today, no loss but no gain.
At least all those chocolates I ate didn't cause a gain and I am pleased to say they have now all gone!

babyducky · 27/07/2007 10:58

hi, well done everyone, i lost 1lb this week, thought i would've done bit better than that, but oh well, will have to try extra hard this week!

how is everyone else doing?

Twilighttime u should def join slimming world, it really is so easy & you will get a lot of support on here too!
good luck with it.

Fireflyfairy2 · 27/07/2007 11:02

Well done! That is a lot in 11 weeks!!!!! Good for you!!

I have just had a huge fruit salad for breakfast [I know, at 11am!! But the kids climbed into my bed & watched Wozard of Oz so I catnapped]

I'm on a bit of a downer today as my weight has been up & down for ages now...I looked at my book & from Xmas I have only lost 7lb A girl at my sw class told me last week she was peeved as she has just lost 6lb so I came home & looked

I had 4.5lb off on Wed...but that was a fluke as I had gained so much the weight before & it was the TOTM.

kid · 27/07/2007 12:32

But 7lb off is good. Thats half a stone so you need to set another mini target, maybe 7lb again.
I had a great loss the first week I did it, then it pretty much slowed down or stopped!

I need to get back into it properly but I think with my holiday so close I know its not going to happen. I think when I get back I will be able to do really well as I won't have that deadline looming.

Twilighttime · 28/07/2007 09:57

I've decided it's probably best to join SW rather than try and 'go it alone'. I've been fumbling about with it for a few days not really knowing what I'm doing, then yesterday I got a migraine and ended up eating a load of junk when I felt better! The group near me meets on a Tuesday so I'll psych myself up for it. I'm thinking I might ring the leader over the weekend, just so that I don't walk into the room feeling too terrified!

Charlottesweb · 28/07/2007 09:59

That's a good idea

Call & introduce yourself & say you are thinking of coming along.

She will let you sit & stay for the meeting & then decide at the end if you want to join up or not. There shouldn't be any pressure.

Good Luck!

Twilighttime · 28/07/2007 16:41

Okay, I'll do that. I might see if I can get my friend to come with me, but things like that are a bit tricky to bring up sometimes. We're meeting up tomorrow so if she mentions her size I'll ask her if she fancies coming along.

Charlottesweb · 29/07/2007 16:53

How's everyone getting on this weekend?

I stumbled a bit last night & had crisps & chocolate

lunavix · 29/07/2007 21:13

Hi everyone! I lost 2.5 this week bringing me to my stone and a half so I was dead pleased, I'm only 4lb off target.... and I've had a shocking weekend had a curry friday night (and not a good curry lol) then went out last night and had italian, then drank absolutely shocking amounts of alcohol, had a fry up (and again not the good kind!) today and went out for dinner and had another curry -sigh-

I'm going to be going to the gym every day to try and at least stay the same for thursday...

Charlottesweb · 30/07/2007 22:11

Well done Luna!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been on work experience today & had canteen sandwiches & bits today so am hoping that good eating at the weekend there will have left me OK

IndigoMoon · 30/07/2007 22:25

i am not weighing in this week, i am having a bit of week off.

RoundTheBend · 31/07/2007 21:16

I got Slimmer of the Week tonight!!!! And my Stone certificate! I lost 5lb in two weeks.

grinningbee · 01/08/2007 18:35

Hi all,

Mind if I join in with you?

I've been "going it alone" with the SW plan since July 2nd, and have managed to lose 15.5 pounds so far. I did it before some years ago but fell off the wagon.... ahem...!

I love reading all the tips and recipes, and promise I'll pass any on if I find them!

Only another 93 pounds to go...

xxxjoxxx · 02/08/2007 10:45

hi i joined mumsnet today as i found it through a search on scan bran has anyone else tried it i think its edible just lol
i have been a member of sw for 5 weeks and got my half stone certificate this tuesday and feeling very proud of myself too.

im hoping to lose 2 stone by april next year (giving myself a lot of time as its for no reason in particular apart from to feel good about myself and to wear the clothes i want to)
just like to say well done to everyone who has done well this week xxx

Joby1970 · 02/08/2007 13:03

welcome grinngbee & xxxjoxxx.

You've come to the right place - altho this week has been quiet (perhaps everyone is on holiday). Normally there are lots of hints, tips & support on here.

IndigoMoon · 02/08/2007 15:32

hello to all the newbies

well i did not weigh in this week and last night ended up at burger king - it was lovely!!!!!!!!

i am back on the wagon today, so far have had four ryvita split between breakfast and lunch, bananas, cottage cheese and a kit kat.

not sure what i am doing for tea but wil be sw friendly.

i would like to weigh in next week and have lost 2lb getting me down to my club 10.

Overtiredmum · 02/08/2007 19:06

Hi all, anyone mind if I join?

I am going alone because all my local classes are in the evening, and I work so cannot make any of them. I have done SW before pre-DS and have since then piled on the weight. I have decided not to weigh myself as I seem to become self-obsessed and as soon as I stop losing or start gaining, I just give up, so I have thrown out the scales and just work on the basis that if my clothes are too loose, it must be working! I am a comfortable(ish) size 16, and my first target will be to be able to go shopping and be able to pick up any size 14 and it fit me. I hope to be able to do this by Chrimbo - do-able??

This is only my third day and I feel so much better in myself already. I love red days, but I am going to try to alternate so I don't get bored, plus I do get really bad wind on a Green Day (sorry if TMI)!!

This thread is so interesting, with some wonderful recipes. You all seem to be doing so well!
