oops! meant to say "goodies" not "goodes" oh silly me, can't even spell now!

fireflyfairy2 · 15/06/2007 10:04

What the book says:

If you are pregnant we want to take the best possible care of you. Ask your consultant for the special booklet for further advice & info on food optimising as a mum-to-be.

It goes on to say you need consent from your midwife & increase your number of HE's but it doesn't say how many to increase it by, sorry.

Go back to one more meeting & ask your consultant face to face.

CayKon · 15/06/2007 10:16

I have the offical slimming world leaflet on pregnancy.

I'm sorry to say no extras until you bresatfeed. Because it is a healthy eating plan not a diet, it doesn't changeuntil you breastfeed, then you get extra he's depending on babys age etc

fireflyfairy2 · 15/06/2007 15:25

How's everyone doing today?

IndigoMoon · 15/06/2007 16:57

laloop · 15/06/2007 19:19

Hi everyone
Hope I'm doing okay today - if anyone is able to check my food diary for today to see if it is calculated properly, I'd be really grateful

Original Day
Breakfast - Oatso Simple (plain) - 5 syns
made with skimmed milk (HE/A) and chopped strawberries and blueberries (FREE)

Lunch - I went out for lunch with a friend and thought Brie was included as a HE/A choice but it's NOT one of the cheeses on the list , so I hope I didn't blow it as I had to count it as syns...

Bacon (FREE) and Brie Toastie (granary bread - 2 slices used as the 2 HE/B choices)
(quite a bit of brie in the toastie so to be on the safe side I calculated it as a double portion 2x28g = 9 syns)

Snack - Mullerlight yoghurt with fresh passionfruit (FREE)

Dinner - Going to make FREE Chicken and Veg Stir Fry soon (I can't have rice or noodles, or even a glass of wine, because I don't have enough syns left )

Lesson learned today - stick the SW handbook in my handbag when I'm eating out until I'm sure of the rules!!

laloop · 15/06/2007 19:20

Sorry, meant to add congratulations to RoseQuartz

RoseQuartz · 15/06/2007 19:30

Huge Thanks to CAYKON and ALL of you who posted messages to help me work out sw and stick to it at home while pregnant! Thanks for the messages of congratulations also! Sorry I haven't named you all individually, but my pregnant (shrunk!!) brain doesn't allow me to remember all the names!!
Thanks to you all x

EverLovelyChubby · 15/06/2007 23:52

Hi

laloop - Your diary looks fine just a blip with brie although you'll probs get away with it, actually drooling at thought of brie toastie!!

Congrats Rosequartz! I started doing SW when pg but then had really bad MS and just ate whatever I could then by about 20 weeks pretty much ate what I wanted and gave birth to an 11lb DD no less !!!! Did do SW whilst bf and the weight literally dropped off mind....phew!

Done fairly well today had a green with a nice chicken and pasta dish for tea, am starving now but gonna go to bed and stop thinking about munching on choc biscs any more!

Two meals out this weekend hmmm must be good!!!

xx

Nemo2007 · 16/06/2007 11:15

bah humbug went into hiding for a couple of days while I had a complete melt down..including dominos pizza and galaxy chocolate.
Back on track today though

IndigoMoon · 16/06/2007 13:37

hello all.

still stressing about the chinese tonight.

i have kept the day totally netural so am going tonight and will decide whether to go green or red.

black bean sauce is good for red and i like that and will have on healthy extra for rice etc.

i also have not used any syns. therefore have a bit of leeway but also want to drink alcohol.

this is the first toughie i have come up against but i am determined not to go over too much as have got ascot on wednesday and will be drinking so much that day that i am having a flexible syns day then so dont want one more in the week.

laloop · 16/06/2007 14:14

Hi Indigomoon, enjoy your Chinese tonight
Checked the Food Directory for other good Chinese choices - Beef chow mein (8.5 syns) or Chicken chow mein (7 syns). Also Chicken Chopsuey with noodles (5.5 syns) or Ginger and Garlic prawns with Noodles (5 syns) but these are all based on a Green day.

I'm also having a bit of a panic about tonight as we are going to a party and I know there will be heaps of nice food and wine. I've been good so far today in preparation. Does anyone know if it is possible to "borrow" syns from another day so that if I go over 15 tonight, could I try to just eat FREE foods and HE's and NO syns from Monday onwards until Thursday's weigh-in? [desperate but hopeful emoticon]

IndigoMoon · 16/06/2007 14:17

ahh thanks for that laloop will make a note of those.

my consultant has said you can save syns so suppose you can borrow them as well....but you would have to be really strict with yourself for the days you borrowed.

she did say that doing that can slow weight loss though. but for a treat - hey why not

lechuga · 16/06/2007 16:08

IndigoMoon-I'm pretty sure that you can't have rice as a HE.could you not go green and have the chicken or prawns as a HE and eat lots of boiled rice? Boring though!

Been reading what your consultant said about saving all your syns for a weekend can slow down weightloss. I've been stuck at this weight for months-literally. I tend to eat zero syns in the week (still having my HE's though) and then pig out a bit on a Saturday and Sunday. I wonder if that's why. Anyone else have this problem? I also have mainly Green days too

fireflyfairy2 · 16/06/2007 17:36

I give myself only 10 syns a day as our consultant told us to save 5 syns a day as invisible syns, some that we eat without thinking.. like popping a cadburys button in our mouth or a crisp etc..

So, say I use 5 on a Thursday, 5 on a Friday, I then allow myself to have 20 on a Saturday.

When I'm having chinese food I do a green day, as rice is so filling & noodles & they're both free. I count the meat [ie: chicken] as a HE if I can't find the syns for the dish

We had lunch out today. I had beef with onions & gravy, mixed veg & potatoes. It wasn't very nice though

My aunt died yesterday & I am finding it hard to stick to the syns. We were at the wake last night & there was sandwiches being passed around & buns etc... but I managed to say no. We're going back tonight again & I hope to be ok then also. It's so hard when I turn to food for comfort though..

Nemo2007 · 17/06/2007 13:08

Morning all
I have decided to give myself this week off completely as am on a self destruct so will get back on it from thursday.

EverLovelyChubby · 18/06/2007 10:18

Morning all

Nemo - enjoy your week off, wish I had a week off!!!

Would any of you mind having a look at what I had to eat over the weekend and tell me your opinions please......?

Saturday had banana, big bowl of strawbs, blueberries, grapes and yogurt, then had a mushroom and cheese (28g) omelette sarnie (nimble bread) for lunch then went out for meal in night and had chicken barbados (which is like a tomatoe based vegetable curry sauce) with a jacket potato and had strawberries for dessert with a dusting of icing sugar. For drinks had two white wine spritzers, a rasberry vodka martini, a smirnoff ice and a glass of white wine.

Then yesterday had beans, poached egg and a toasted 57g wholemeal bap, a banana, for lunch (Beefeater) marinated chicken breast with new potatos and salad and then a big bowl of fruit and yogurt for tea.

I tried v.hard to not go over syns too much and didn't pick at anyone elses chips / garlic bread etc. Think might have gone a bit too mad on booze on Saturday but wasn't drunk .

Did I wangle it do you reacon or did I blow it????

Cheers!!

IndigoMoon · 18/06/2007 10:37

everlovely

the food looks ok. maybe the drink is a lot.

i cannot talk though. i had a bit of a blow out at the weekend. i was so good up to the chinese and in fairness i did quite well at the chinese and stuck to chow mein, salad and rice.

then i drank loads and loads of vodka.

then when i got home i ate a hifi bar and drank more vodka.

then yesterday i started with weetabix, was quite good for lunch. then slowly started to gorge on what i could get my hands on and ended up with a packet of maltesers.

so bad so bad. i think it shows for me that as soon as i start then i just cannot stop

PinkChick · 18/06/2007 10:49

hi there, havent been around ina while(used to be strawberrysnowflakes) as gave SW heave ho as you may remember consulatant was as encouragin as wet mop!, but have put a little back on and now its 9 weeks to hol..so need to do something...what are your simple very good recipes, nothing takes ages to do as i dont have the time and will son get sick of noodles again!

3xamum · 18/06/2007 11:28

Hi everyone. My 2nd weigh in tonight. I'm only eating fruit today then big dinner after my weigh in. Sad or what

RoundTheBend · 18/06/2007 19:04

Good luck 3xamum! Can anyone recommend an allowable sauce that can go in a vegetable stir fry? I love the hosin and spring onion sauces but I bet they are riddled with Syns.

BigHotMama · 18/06/2007 22:35

I am addicted to my dh's free spicy sliced potatoes seasoned with cajun and herbs and sprayed in fry lite and cooked in the oven, had them with packet of Batchelors pasta n sauce and was totally yummy and filling and free, it makes green days look easy lol.

Does anybody know the syn value of a tbsp of pesto? Cant find it in the book?

OK planning a red day tomorrow:-

Breaky - Bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms on 2 slices of toast (HE)

Lunch - Ham, cheese and onion omelette with 2 hotdog sausages (0.5syn each)

Tea - Chicken stir fry and 1 small Jacket spud (HE)

BigHotMama · 18/06/2007 22:40

FFF2 sorry to hear about your auntie, I'm the same turning to food for comfort. I'm sure you'll get back on track now.

Welcome back Pinkchick!

Indigo, I also had chinese but went for full on beef and mushroom curry with egg fried rice, samosas and prawn crackers...it was my reat day though, but I ended up putting on 3 pound in one day You were good by my standards lol!

Roundthebend, I use stuff that is free like basil and thyme, worcs sauce, soy sauce and garlic salt and pepper in my stir frys then add a bit of honey for sweetness at the end..not sure how many syns in honey though?

fireflyfairy2 · 19/06/2007 00:31

Thanks BHM. She was buried yesterday & I have been with my mam most of this evening. Also my period came & I have had a really bad binge.

I am not going to the meeting this week, but will keep my food diary next week & try to undo the damage.

I am so tired & emotionally exhausted I could sleep for a week.

Nemo, I may join you in your break this week.

IndigoMoon · 19/06/2007 11:17

fff - be kind to yourself. have a week off. thinking of you
