Hello and welcome newbies from a relatively new newcomer :)

My diet has crashed and burned and my wagon is looking like a total heap. Weirdly I think my losses were mostly because of having my period which is very frustrating. Seem to have lost a bit of my willpower as well which is very irksome.

Today has been ok though - cappuccino for breakfast, going to have soup now for lunch and a light dinner.

As a fellow shortie Hoola I feel your pain. 1200 is just soooooo little food in my mind and any extra weight and I look like a dumpling. Thankfully even the few pounds I've lost seem to be making a bit of a difference to how I look so it works both ways I suppose

BitOutOfPractice · 06/06/2018 13:58

Hello all. Not had chance to read back. But hope you're all doing ok.

I've just dropped dd1 off for her first A level exam. She's so nervous poor girl. And so am I to be honest. That's my excuse for coming to McDonalds Blush In fairness I've only had a happy meal so not too bad. And I really enjoyed it. I'm camping on their WiFi writing a work report while I wait for her to come out

True Twix I've lost about 7-10lb depending on the week Blush and people are commenting. But really wish I could eat more! The half a grapefruit for breakfast had not left me satisfied!

Hoolahoophop · 06/06/2018 14:03

The food was medicinal Boop good luck to you and your dd. Dieting and exam stress do not work together.

Bitsandboobs · 06/06/2018 14:07

That is what my Dh doesn't get about loosing weight, he thinks people should just be able to eat less, but he can eat 3500 calories and loose 1lb a week!!! 😂 He has a very manual job and works out 6 days a week, but still!!!! Some of us have to barely eat anything to loose!

BinkerTell · 06/06/2018 15:05

I don't think I could live on 1200 calories a day. I probably should though!

I'm going out for Indian food this evening - I'll avoid naan bread and rice (due to low carbing) but can people suggest other low calorie meals? I have about 700 calories to 'spend'.

Boop - hope your daughter does well. What a nice mum you are to wait for her to finish her exam.

BitOutOfPractice · 06/06/2018 15:08

I think chicken tikka is very low Binker just hold the masala sauce and have it with a salad. You'll have calories left over for a beer then Wink

BinkerTell · 06/06/2018 15:14

Good call, Boop - I won't be drinking though, my friend doesn't drink and I don't want to waste food calories on beer....I went for a run today and am starving.

When I say run, I mean Week 5 Day 2 of the Runkeeper 8 weeks to 5k app. I started it in January Grin.

Hoolahoophop · 06/06/2018 15:57

Just wanted to share this picture, ive been out walking with dd in the sling to get my steps and her nap sorted for the day.

Oh where's tat Hoola? Is it Essex?

Binker that's been a long 5 weeks! Grin. I am a massive fan of c25k

Binker I always have tandoori king prawns if I'm doing curry while dieting. Basically just prawns and veg grilled on a skewer with curry paste, no sauce. I'm probably in denial about the calories in the paste though! I usually treat myself to a chapati, as the least-bad carb to go with it.

Hoola - barre was quite stretchy, but also lots and lots of squats, lunges and raises, so great for legs and bums, plus lots of abs work. I really loved it.

I can recommend some evening meals that would work with your calories as long as you don't eat double portions like me and DHSmile

I'll find some links to post later.

Hoolahoophop · 06/06/2018 17:26

Ha, Ha Fizz double portions are always my downfall!

It is Essex Boop well done. Near Colchester.

BitOutOfPractice · 06/06/2018 17:33

I thought it looked familiar and Essex-ish. I'm in the south of the county

Binker Great job on the run! Hope you enjoyed your Indian as a reward.

Bit Hope dd's exam went well, exciting/stressful times! Confused

I made this for dinner, was really tasty and very filling: cookieandkate.com/2017/thai-peanut-quinoa-salad-recipe/

HappyGowerGirl · 07/06/2018 07:01

Beautiful picture Hoola!

Just checking in with this mornings weight of 61.0kg (9.8),I’ve been mostly staying the same for MONTHS now. I just want to drop that final 3-4lb and be done with it!

HappyGowerGirl · 07/06/2018 07:05

AdaArdor that salad looks amazing!!!

lastqueenofscotland · 07/06/2018 07:18

10 7 this morning. So 2 Linda’s off In June so far... Which was the weight I was when I first joined this thread18 months ago Blush

Hoolahoophop · 07/06/2018 08:51

Can't get into my Fitbit app today. Sad how will I manage!

How frustrating Happy and Last little steps, and I guess we all know hitting goal is just the beginning of maintenance. Dieting is rubbish.

On the other hand diet food like that I can do Ada thanks for posting.

FizzingWhizzbee · 07/06/2018 09:09

That salad does look good, Ada - I just can't seem to get excited about quinoa thoughBlush.

Hoola here are some recipes for you that should work with your calories. Most have headroom for a small portion of rice/potatoes as an accompaniment where necessary. I am greedy tall so find that some of the portion sizes are a bit small, so I usually do extra, but you can always bulk them out with veg on the side instead.

These are all regulars/favourites:

Creamy mustard pork

Paprika pork

Lemony prawn and chorizo rice (I know, sounds super high cal but isn't)

Sweet and sour pork stirfry (might need to experiment with the amount of vinegar in the sauce to get it how you like it)

Smokey bacon and tomato pasta

Gnocchi and tomato bake

Fish tagine

Creamy ham, leek and mushroom spaghetti

And these are a couple that I haven't tried yet, but I'm making one tonight, and the other in the next couple of weeks:

Spanish fish stew

Chicken with lemon and courgette cous cous

I do have more, but they're heavily modified over the years and now pretty much exist only in my head. We also do a lot of things like baked salmon and veg, veg-heavy prawn or chicken stir fries, chicken and veg curries made with Patak's paste, simple pasta dishes and sometimes a sneaky risotto (which works on my higher calorie allowance, if I'm mean with the cheese and butter and disciplined with the portion size)

This morning was pretty good for me - 12st 5.5, which is half a Linda off, and a new lowSmile. I'd love to tell you my average, but I rely on Fitbit to calculate it for me, and it's currently down for maintenance and I'm too lazy to do it myselfBlush

MissingPanda · 07/06/2018 09:18

Lovely pic Hoola

Good luck to your dd OP

The last couple of days haven't exactly been a success. I did a sleep at work Monday night and no matter how well I think I've slept I often get tired around 3pm. Made the mistake of going into a shop to pick up a couple of things and came out with a large bar of wholenut Blush. Told myself I would just eat a bit at a time then later in the evening proceeded to eat the whole lot. I fully expected to have a good nights sleep the following night, as I was back in my own bed, but woke up around 3.30am and couldn't get back to sleep for over an hour Hmm Last night I ended up eating a packet of Rolos. The only good thing I can say about it is that they seemed to have shrunk in size compared to what they used to be.

I've decided that next Tuesday, after dd and I have been for her birthday treat, I'm going to start calorie counting again. Hopefully it should focus the mind. I did weight myself yesterday and was 12st 2.6lb, a gain of 400g so could be worse.

MissingPanda · 07/06/2018 09:20

That should read BOOP Blush, although I suppose OP isn't exactly wrong.

MissingPanda · 07/06/2018 09:24

Brilliant Fizz, it won't be long before you're catching up to me Grin

FizzingWhizzbee · 07/06/2018 09:36

Thanks, Missing

I must admit to raiding DD's bribery-related stash of snack-size chocolate buttons over the past few daysBlush

Hoolahoophop · 07/06/2018 09:46

Thanks Fizz that's an awsome list lots of inspiration to work through, just a few fiddles to make it fussy toddler suitable Hmm

BinkerTell · 07/06/2018 10:12

Great recipes, fizz thank you.

MissingPanda are you on night shifts? I imagine that’s a real challenge so don’t be too hard on yourself.

Last night I didn’t end up having Indian as the restaurant we wanted to go to has shut down. So we went to the local pub and We shared some asparagus and prawns (smothered in yummy butter) and then had a falafel salad. No booze, just fizzy water and mint tea. Felt very righteous!
