I started the day well but ended it in Burger King Blush

QuimReaper · 21/06/2018 23:30

Ada you didn't at all! This thread has been incredibly quiet compared with the usuals, I wonder if everyone's on hols (or just off the rails like me Blush )

Well, I'm not totally off the rails, been stunning yesterday and today! But I fear it won't have undone the 5 days before it... Weighing in tomorrow. I'm anticipating being 600g up on last week.

Twixes · 21/06/2018 23:37

You're not a thread killer Ada, I'm sure everyone is just busy Smile

I really hope you and your DH can work things out, talking is extremely important - you're doing the right thing. As for TOM, it makes us all go mad and it sounds like you're going through a stressful time so you probably needed it. Mind yourselfThanks

CiderwithBuda · 22/06/2018 07:48

Flowers Ada. It all sounds stressful. Well done for being able to still focus on weight loss.

My sneaky weigh in this morning and yesterday showed a pleasing decrease! Official weigh in day is Monday.

Re the alcohol chat - I did drink on Wednesday but only two glasses of red wine. And nothing last night. I find it hard to resist as DH drinks. But am in a bit of a routine now of my alcohol free gin while he has the real thing and I’m not massively keen on the red wine we currently have. And as DH ordered a case of it that’s a good thing!

Alcohol has always been my downfall. The most successful I’ve ever been with losing weight was when I went through a period of drinking weak white wine sodas. But I’m doing quite well on the alcohol front at the moment for a change. Managing to remember that I want the result on the scale more than I want wine. And that a lot of times I’m only drinking it for the sake of it.

Anway. A concerted effort on th weight loss front for me the next two weeks as we go on holiday then. I would love to lose 6 pounds by then which would get me down under 15 stone. I think it’s doable with a lot of focus and upping my exercise.

MissingPanda · 22/06/2018 08:59

Morning. I'm full of a cold atm so basically just eating what I want, e.g. carbs, and not bothering to calorie count. Hopefully I'll be rid of it by Monday and will start the calorie counting again. Mabaged to lose my gym card over the bank holiday but now have that sorted so hope to start back the gym on Monday too.

Ada you seem to have a lot going on atm so you're doing really well to keep going. Go easy on yourself and take care.

Cider keep it up, cutting down on the alcohol will be worth it in the long run.

Quim at least you're not ofd the rails completely.

MissingPanda · 22/06/2018 08:59

Off even Hmm

QuimReaper · 22/06/2018 10:29

Oh Lord.

5 days indulgence + two fast days = ... 1.1kg up.

Shock

I have a 2kg buffer fro my Goal Weight before I start to panic, and I'm 1.7g into it.

AND NEXT WEEK IS A WRITE OFF TOO! GAH!

Hoping for a STS (or at least

QuimReaper · 22/06/2018 10:33

Cider I had my first weight loss success when I banned myself from wine and stuck to gin & slims. Since I'm not crazy about G&T, I never felt the need to make them a double, and found them a bit fizzy and filling so never really rushed for a topup like I do with wine. It was a Godsend for evenings in the pub when people keep going to the bar, because I could drink as many as were handed to me at about 50 cals each without any guilt, and they never even made me slightly drunk! I also find tonic water suppresses my appetite, I first started succeeding at Fast Days when I discovered this and started drinking it in the evenings.

But it's just NOT THE SAME. I managed it for a few weeks when I really set my mind to it, but I've never managed to summon up the same enthusiasm since. I think the fact that I drink tonic water on fast days doesn't help, as I now associate the taste with virtue rather than relaxation.

AdaArdor · 22/06/2018 10:50

Haha Quim avoidance is a great method of weight loss, just avoid weighing in until you know you're in a better place!

Panda it's rubbish when you are sick because you just want to comfort eat. Take care of yourself, lots of good nourishing foods, a few treats, and plenty of sleep! Maybe a nice hot bath as a Friday treat? That's what I'm planning, I'm totally projecting!

Thank you all for your support. My therapist can't see us for a few weeks so I think we're going to try and have a chat this weekend... It never goes well but I'm going to try and be open minded about it.

In other news, upping my calories has worked - I am down 2.5lbs this week!! Can't believe it - 5lbs down since start of June. But I'm away with work next week so I doubt I'll lose much while I'm away - let's see what next Friday brings.

Hoolahoophop · 22/06/2018 11:26

Ada I could have written your post re DH a couple of weeks ago. Since then we had the big, difficult conversation. Things are still a little tense but we are in a much better place. Both happier and I'm as confident now that we will pull through as I had been previously that we would not. I hope the same will be true for you. Flowers

Ive been quiet as having a two week break. This week because totm next week hols. Will hope for maintenance and get back on it after we are home. Just need a holiday from everything at the moment so taking it guilt free. Smile

CiderwithBuda · 22/06/2018 12:10

Quim - I know what you mean. I do enjoy a g&t but I llooooovvveeee wine. Really love it. But I want to lose weight more than I want wine at the moment. We are at a friend’s for dinner tomorrow night and she has switched to g&t as wine triggers her migraines so I can stick to g&t then. Although am contemplating driving and taking my alcohol free gin. Would probably feel too deprived though. I think a night off a week is good. Mentally anyway. I’ll see how I feel tomorrow!

Hoola - glad things are improved with DH.

Ada - fab result!

CiderwithBuda · 22/06/2018 12:12

Oh 5k walk done bright and early this morning! I got back just as DH was getting up. Felt very virtuous! Went as soon as I got back from taking DS to school. Was tempted not to but feel so much better for having done it.

twinkledag · 22/06/2018 12:17

Well done @AdaArdor!

AdaArdor · 22/06/2018 13:59

Thank you so much Hoola. I'm really glad things with your DH are better and hope they continue to improve. You've given me a little bit of hope Smile

Bloody men!!! Cake

MissingPanda · 22/06/2018 22:13

Thanks Ada I'm feeling better now but I started feeling better last Tuesday, after starting with the cold on the Sunday, so will see how things go. I got in from work about half an hour ago and am already in bed. Back in work for 8.30am tomorrow so won't be a late night tonight.

Congratulations on your loss, 2.5lbs is brilliant! I really hope you and your DH will manage to work things out Flowers The one thing I noted was that you said 'the man I love'. Try to hold onto that when talking.

Quim deep breaths and try not to panic. Easier said than done I know but you will get through this and you will lose the weight again.

Cider it's so satisfying when you achieve something especially when you have to push youraelf to do it in the first place.

Hoolahoophop · 23/06/2018 08:53

I feel a binge weekend coming on. We went to see the Foo Fighters last night. Very late night dd didn't get the lie in memo. Bed at 2am, up at 5.30am that a reason to eat all the food right?

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 23/06/2018 10:03

Argh. I fell off the thread Shock

Thought for a day or two it had been quiet and I've only just realised.

Hope you are all doing ok. No change here diet wise. Lots of other things going on though. Dd finished her exams and left school this week. Prom tonight and then we go on a 3.5 week adventure in SE Asia next weekend! So excited but so much to do!

No doubt I'll be in need of this thread in August!

CiderwithBuda · 23/06/2018 12:47

Hoola - ouch! But don’t do it! You will regret it. Eat but eat healthy nourishing food that will fill you up and give you energy. Crappy carbs and sugar will not help!

Then promise yourself a nice treat tonight for getting through the day.

I’m off to a friends for dinner tonight. She is a PT and very into nutrition etc. She messaged me last night to tell me we are having chilli and to leave around 1000 cals for tonight and to have a bigish brunch today. So I’ve taken her advice for a change! Had a yoghurt first thing and then went to spinning. Have just had a slice of seeded multigrain toast with two eggs , a slice of ham, some avocado and cherry tomatoes. Currently have 1000 cals left if I don’t count my exercise cals. So if I have a snack later it’s not too bad.

Good article in the dreaded DM with ideas for 200 cal snacks if anyone is interested.

AdaArdor · 23/06/2018 13:21

Cider I love that your friend tells you what calories she is serving and what you need to leave yourself!! Amazing friend for the weight loss journey! Grin

CiderwithBuda · 23/06/2018 13:50

Ada - it’s currently great but we have a bit of a love/hate relationship when it comes to diet/weight loss etc to be honest. She sometimes speaks without thinking and has been hurtful in the past. Also doesn’t get why I find it hard to stick to diets. But it’s currently good!

AdaArdor · 23/06/2018 14:40

Oh so maybe she's a bit OTT with it all. I have a similar friend who just does not think how what she says might come across, it's so infuriating but it's like water off a ducks back now, not worth feeling rubbish about!

ponygirlcurtis · 24/06/2018 09:18

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Hoola lots of people I know went to see the Foos, I bet they were amazing. Hope you survived yesterday, that is not much sleep.

Flowers for you Ada, hope you have managed to get through the weekend OK. It sounds hard going.

I was out for curry and alcohol yesterday, more carbs than I have eaten in one sitting for months - and that was even with me seriously limiting it to one spoonful of rice and just a chunk of paratha. And I had two diet cokes in the middle of our day as I just couldn't face any more alcohol for a bit - most unlike me! 😆 Feeling bloated today from the carbs and all the fizz from the gin and tonics but getting back to it.

CiderwithBuda · 24/06/2018 14:47

Last night was a bit of a wine fest! Drank far too much. Food was ok. Wine was not.

But DH had the bright idea last night that we should drive, leave the car and I could walk back and get it today. So I did. Except I got lost cutting through a park. Added an extra 20 minutes on! So walk for a total of 1hour and 11 minutes. And all I could think of was the extra calories I was using up!

Steak and salad for dinner tonight. No wine. None. Not drinking now till we go on holiday in two weeks.

NanBoleyn · 25/06/2018 06:13

Hello to all, hope you had a good weekend. I am in marking hell at the moment (work in higher education) so didn't really get to make the most of it.
Good news is that I am down to 9st 1 which means a 6lb loss for June. Really happy with that especially as have had to stop running because of sore knee. Has been fine with walking though so I suppose I should give the running another go now!!
It would be fantastic to break the 9st barrier for next week so my aims for this week are 1. Stick to average 1200 per day on MFP 2. Make sure I hit my protein target
