Binker while I do do the very occasional night shift, usually as overtime, I don't usually do nights. I'm a support worker and am contracted to do sleeps. The bed is single, not the best mattress, and I suspect a part of me is on alert just in case I'm needed, so I nearly always feel tired mid afternoon, after a sleep. Usually I can get through it but occasionally I succumb and buy the chocolate.

FizzingWhizzbee · 07/06/2018 11:18

You're very welcome, Hoola. My own fussy toddler generally doesn't eat with us, so I tend to forget that's a consideration for others!

BinkerTell · 07/06/2018 11:47

That sounds just as difficult, Panda - I'm sure I've read research that links sleep deprivation and weight gain.

My plan for today is go to the gym for some HIIT on the rowing machine and a back, biceps and legs strength training workout. I thought I'd ache after yesterday's run (realised I ran more than the app required, as for some reason it stopped telling me what to do) but I don't. Hurrah.

CiderwithBuda · 07/06/2018 14:38

Hello - can I join please? I have been spotting these threads in active convos for a while.

I have quite a lot to lose and have been on many many many many weight loss threads on here over the years. Am currently in a good headspace and exercising and using MFP. Daily cals are 1468. I weighed 15 st 13.75 pounds two weeks ago. Lost 4 in a week. Went away for a few days and gained back 3.75! Thankfully a sneaky weigh this morning shows that I’m down 4 lbs now so not too bad.

Having not been a great one for eating first thing for years I now find I’m hungry in th mornings so I do have breakfast. Would like to start delaying it though and do 16/8.

I try to avoid too many carbs but am not always successful! I’m not too bothered at the moment as am just concentrating on keeping to my calorie allowance. I’m also sorting of tracking macros but not in a major way just yet.

I have lots of little mini goals at the moment. First was to get under 100kg which I’ve done. Next is to get under 15 st 7. Was 15 9.5 this morning.

We are going on holiday a month from today so although I would love to be 3 stone lighter then I’ll be happy with being under 15 stone.

Wine is my biggest downfall so am hoping to avoid now until we go away so I’ll join in with those not drinking.

My ultimate goal is to have lost 3 stone by 15 November as I’m going to Australia and would love my friends to really notice a difference.

Sorry that was long!

AdaArdor · 07/06/2018 15:04

Welcome Cider! Smile You've already made some amazing progress! What kinds of exercise do you like?

Having been a dedicated breakfast eater my whole life, I've been doing 16:8 since February and am a big fan. I'm so hungry by lunch, but I always was anyway so I'm starting to see breakfast as a bit of a waste of calories. Plus it always ends up so carb-based (for me). I'd rather save my calories and carbs and eat a really good lunch and dinner.

You have a great goal to work towards! Imagine your friends meeting you in sunny Australia and being all ShockShockShock

Welcome again!

CiderwithBuda · 07/06/2018 15:11

Thanks Ada! My breakfast is usually Greek yoghurt with berries and some flakes almonds and seeds. And about three cups of tea!

Exercise wise I love spinning classes although due to dodgy knees I don’t stand up although and gradually doing that more. Aiming to be able to do all the standing sections. Then I want to start C25K. Been advised not to just yet but once I have lost a bit and can do full spinning class as knees should be stronger. I’ve also recently started Body Balance and like that although I am so bloody unsupple! And a friend is a PT and does Circuit classes which I’m going to restart next week. And I walk! A bit.

Plan is circuits, two spinning and two Body Balance classes a week and walking.

Cider It sounds like you're doing great on the exercise!! Good idea to strengthen your knees before starting C25K - running is not great for your joints! If you can afford it, when the time comes, definitely invest in some good trainers! Most proper sports shops with do gait analysis so you can find the most supportive shoe for you. I know I need new trainers when I start getting regular shin splints Blush

Koko I lost 5lb in my first month and believe a lot of it is water weight! I also put on a pound in my first week which was so demotivating! But then read that is very normal when you restart an exercise regime because when muscles are repairing the body sends lots of water to them, so again, water weight! Its all about the water weight. I'm well into month two now and it's definitely slowed! I'm just exercising moderately and tracking everything on MFP, and it seems to be doing the job so far. It's a long journey, not a short one (especially if you don't have tonnes to lose).

So I am down another lb! Hurrah! So my first lb lost in June. Were about to move into month two of Insanity where the workouts increase from around 40 to 60 minutes, and get much more insane (!) so I hope I'll see a couple more lbs by the end of the month Smile

Starting weight June: 154lbs
Loss so far June: 1lb!
Current weight: 153lbs
Target weight: 145lbs

I do have three meals out over the next week, so it's going to be testing times...!

Happy Friday all! Enjoy your weekends! Remember, everything in moderation, including moderation Wink

Hoolahoophop · 08/06/2018 09:54

Well done Ada you are on it!
What's insanity really like? Is it as tough as the ads make out or is it possible? I find the 30 day ahead quite enough for me!

Koko I managed it when I was younger but not now. I did it by going from pretty much sedentary to walking a minimum of 4 miles a day, plus training for a triathlon so I was either swimming, running or cycling for an hour every day, sometimes a combo of two sports. On top of that I was eating grapefruit for breakfast, a salad with no dressings for lunch and a small car free dinner. I allowed myself two bits of fruit on top and one posh choc on a Friday night. I was tee total........dosent sound much fun does it. Wink

AdaArdor · 08/06/2018 10:03

Hoola thank you! Insanity is great. Don't get me wrong, it's super hard! But I really love it and am definitely seeing improvements in my health, endurance and my shape! It's like most of these workouts, it starts off ridiculously hard (as in first workout, lying on the floor hard) but you build up. Hence why month two kicks it up a gear, because by then you're kind of on top of it. There's also lots of easy adjustments and you can break whenever really! I really like the instructor Shaun T, he's very encouraging, not like a drill sergeant. I don't know much about 30DS but if you want to mix it up I'd say give Insanity a go for a week - I bet you'd like it.

And by the by, if you can train for a triathlon, I firmly believe you can do anything. It's more mentality than anything else Smile

PS One posh choc on a Friday night....! I bow down to you, sounds like you really got stuck into your training, incredible!!

FizzingWhizzbee · 08/06/2018 10:34

12st 4.9 this morning! Average for the week 12st 5.7! Both are new lows - so I'm very happy.

It won't last though. Friday is always my worst day anyway, but today DD is a bit under the weather so it's proving quite stressful already.

Plus I've been asked to go away 3 nights for a business trip in 2 weeks time and I'm feeling awful about leaving herSad

lastqueenofscotland · 08/06/2018 11:14

Feeling really confident of a good weekend here... famous last words I’m sure

BinkerTell · 08/06/2018 11:48

Well done fizzing.

hoola - that regime doesn't sound much fun at all - how long were you able to sustain it for? I don't think I've got enough willpower!

Welcome cider - I like the approach of setting mini-targets, I loved getting my half stone sticker awards at Slimming World. I've promised myself certain treats for each half stone I lose. And when I get to my ideal weight - a trip to a spa hotel (I'd be too self-conscious to do that at the moment).

It's been a good week for me - have stuck to my plan, though didn't quite make it to the gym yesterday as I'd had too late a night the day before. I do find I am more tired when following a lower calorie way of eating - does anyone else?

BinkerTell · 08/06/2018 11:48

Also, could someone tell me what a 'linda' is?!

lastqueenofscotland · 08/06/2018 11:50

Binker it’s a pound. I think it came from a weird autocorrect a while back

CiderwithBuda · 08/06/2018 12:18

Yes what IS a Linda?

Ada - I did C25K before a few years ago and got to week 7 before my knees really weren’t happy. I’ve since had my gait analysed and have some trainers ready to go that a friend of a friend who runs a lot recommended. And will change my route as was running on uneven pavements.

Hoolahoophop · 08/06/2018 13:35

Fizzing hope your dd is better soon how old is she? I understand the business trip, I hate leaving mine, even if one of them at least barely noticed!

Binker it became just a way of life. Probably 2 months hardcore, I was in a bad place. Then it relaxed but my core attitude had changed. I'd do all that exercise and eat that way when it was just myself during the week without really thinking about it. But I also would eat anything I liked at the weekends, if going out etc, started socialising again and drinking. I kept at my lowest weight for probably 6 years without really trying....then met my husband, got married started clubbing up then the children pushed me over the happy as I am weight.

BitOutOfPractice · 08/06/2018 15:20

A Linda is a pound. It's an odd typo from many many threads ago.

LOWEST WEIGHT SINCE MARCH THIS MORNING

As you were Grin

DD is 3 next week. She was very, very badly constipated. No idea why - no history of it or anything. She was in a lot of pain with it this morning, but eventually produced a mammoth turd, rock solid and about the size of my fistConfused. She's much better this afternoonSmile

Whoop whoop, BOOP!

Therealjudgejudy · 08/06/2018 16:42

Welcome to all the newbies.

Just home from a very hot Croatia. Lots of beautiful food and I didn't hold back on desserts! I actually weight the same today as the gym weigh in the morning before I left! I put that down to lots of walking and swimming and lots of water and not too much alcohol.

Am actually looking forward to getting back to the gym tomorrow. However...I'm planning to order an Indian tonight....

BitOutOfPractice · 08/06/2018 19:53

Judy I'd say that's an excellent result. Isn't Croatia lovely?

Fizz I bet she feels so much better for that poor little thing. Toddler bowels work in mysterious ways their wonders to perform.

AdaArdor · 08/06/2018 20:31

Judy It's so nice to come back from holidays and get a happy surprise on the scale when you're looking down at the numbers through your fingers! Grin

So Day 1 of Month 2 of Insanity is done! Happy Friday! It was so hard, I'm exhausted and ready for bed! Eaten tofu for both lunch and dinner today so hopefully will help my muscles recover a bit; I think tomorrow is going to be painful...

Happy weekend to you all Smile
