May I join in please?

I’m 5’7”, and up until about 5 weeks ago I was 14st2 which is the heaviest I’ve ever been, even pregnant 😳

Admittedly though I was eating for England and with a little bit of self control I managed to get rid of a stone.

And there I stuck at 13st2.

Tried low carb which worked for me in the past but back then I didn’t have so much to lose. It hasn’t done a thing and tbh I don’t think I can face it again - it’s so slow, sketchy and bloody boring. Not to mention a PITA when you’re cooking for the family.

SO! I have decided I need to commit to the good old tried and tested calorie counting.

I’ve set myself at 1200 a day and I’m religiously logging every mouthful. I’ve discovered overnight oats which amazingly seem to keep me full from 8am to about 1.30.

I’ve had a word with myself and I seem to have accepted that I won’t die if I’m hungry for a bit. In fact if you’re properly hungry everything tastes better.

I’m going to chew slowly and really enjoy every bite.

I’d rather have a bit less of something than have the diet version. Plus fat does keep you fuller - thus a bit of butter rather than a larger serving of low fat yellow grease.

I want to get back down to 11st. Ideally 10.5 but that would be a bonus.

Feeling very optimistic and focussed right now 😁

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 25/05/2018 21:08

Welcome xxxball. I think you need a new nameGrin

Is that right that you have lost a stone in 5 weeks? That's amazing. Shock Your plan sounds very sensible. Welcome to the thread.

FizzingWhizzbee · 25/05/2018 21:49

Pony one of our challenges is that our nursery don't (and won't) use potties, and strongly recommend you don't at home either because it can confuse the children, so we're going straight to the loo. I'd feel more confident if I could whip her straight on to a nearby potty at the first sign of trouble! As it is, I have to get her to the toilet, which isn't going well. Today, she did lots of good practice sitting, but none of her 8 wees or 2 poos went in the looBlush.

I'm now drinking cava and hoping the scales don't judge me too harshly tomorrow!

Welcome, fatball - sounds like you've made a cracking start! I also calorie count. I'm 5'9" and started at 13st 4, so similar to you. My calorie goal for losing a pound per week is 1680, so 1200 sounds quite tough. What are you aiming to lose per week?

Fatball · 25/05/2018 23:12

Oh..... yeah actually now I think about it it’s probably taken me longer than 5 weeks to lose the stone. I lost track a bit. It did come off fairly quickly though - as I say I’d been packing it in previously 😳

Fatball · 25/05/2018 23:13

No idea Fizz!! I just plucked 1200 out of the air as a figure I thought I’d heard of as a diety type calorie goal 😁

BitOutOfPractice · 26/05/2018 07:02

Hello fastball. Sounds like you've got s very sensible plan going on there. I try and stick with 1200 calories when I'm being good. Are you using mfp?

ponygirlcurtis · 26/05/2018 08:27

Gosh that is harsh, Fizzing. My boys were both nearly 3 when I did it and neither were keen on the toilet for a good while.

Come join us fatball - a stone already, well done!

Fatball · 26/05/2018 09:25

BOOP - no. I downloaded it but found it complicated to navigate so I’m just writing everything I eat on a pad and adding it up as I go.

Fatball · 26/05/2018 09:27

Thank you ponygirl! I don’t really count that first stone though as I see it as extra. I really had to overeat in order to reach that weight. God I can eat 😳

Fatball · 26/05/2018 11:37

Whoohoo!

Just weighed and 2lb down!

Yeah I know it’s only water weight this early (2 days in) but I wasn’t losing ANY weight before and was actually getting despondent and sad so this is a huge boost 😁

Hoolahoophop · 26/05/2018 11:52

2lb up today and I ate to budget yesterday. Bloody annoying. Plus DH has upset me today so there have been tears, lots of them. Dd didn't go to sleep until 10.30 last night then slept with me waking multiple times. I'm in a proper downer today, it will take a hell of a lot of will power not to eat all the food.

Fatball · 26/05/2018 11:55

Off on holiday in just over 6 weeks.

13st This morning.

Aiming to get down to 12.4 by July 10th.

Fatball · 26/05/2018 11:56

Aww Hoola poor you. It’s crap trying to diet when you’re upset xx

ponygirlcurtis · 26/05/2018 12:15

That all sounds pretty rubbish Hoola, especially since you are so sleep-deprived. Hope your day gets significantly better and DH sorts himself out and brings you a cup of tea

Hoolahoophop · 26/05/2018 20:05

DH dumped both kids on me this evening for bedtime as he wants to watch the football. He needs a serious talking to. On the plus side my parents took me and dc out boating this afternoon and provided cake. Cake counted, no potato with dinner and I'm in budget. Grin

TVHubbyClaire · 27/05/2018 07:00

Hello everyone again. April and May have disappeared (along with a couple of Linda's) in a wave of domestic stuff. Suffice to say I am no longer a hubby and am /should now be in control (?) Of all my food buying and calorie intake. It's all good and needed to happen. I have also bought new scales for my flat as one of my first purchases......
I have definitely been in the 11s which was my target for a week or two but I have since found the ice cream and dessert aisle in the supermarket. Currently at 12st 2 and wanting to get back on the exercise and good eating wagon.
Nice to be back and I will think about more accurate user name too.
Must go as off with DS to pick up new car....No symbolism there...honestSmile

Fatball · 27/05/2018 07:58

What is a Linda?

FizzingWhizzbee · 27/05/2018 08:23

TV we've all been wondering about you. Sounds like it's been a tumultuous time for you - it's nice to see you, hope you're okay.

Fatball - Linda = pound. Apparently the result of someone's autocorrect, though that's from before my time on the thread.

I'm pretty pleased this morning - 12st 7.0. I didn't get to see 12st 6 this week, but I've been solidly low 12st 7s for several days, which I'm really pleased with given all the toilet-training related wine, and very proud that I've kept my stress-eating under control.

It's brought my average for the week down to 12st 7.5, which is three-quarters of a Linda down on last week. I'd have liked a full Linda, but I'm still pretty pleased. We have 3 weeks now until we have guests for the weekend (my diet nemesis), so I reckon 3 Lindas off is realistic by then. That would mean 12st 4. I like that as a mini-goalSmile

ponygirlcurtis · 27/05/2018 09:18

Sorry to hear your news TV, have been wondering how you were. Enjoy your new car and be kind to yourself. Flowers

Fizzing that is good going (especially with all the other stuff going on - hope DH is behaving better now too). Can you menu plan the food for when your guests are here so you know it will all be stuff you can have?

Hoolahoophop · 27/05/2018 10:31

Good news on the new car TV what did you get? Flowers for the other news hope your keeping well.

Well done Fizzing

Last weigh in of the week and my average is just over a lb down. Happy with that. 2 more until my mini goal, 10 to my realistic goal and 16 to my dream weight....14 puts me right in the middle of healthy bmi. Just plodding along.

Have a good bank holiday tomorrow everyone.

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 27/05/2018 10:58

Checking in before I drop off the thread all together. TV good to hear from you. I don't think we overlapped much on the thread but I remember you from around the time I joined (on a different username)

hoola and fizzing you're both doing so well. Halo congratulations to you both.

I'm limping along. Literally Grin. I can't run or do any serious walking because I've got bursitis in my heel (lump on my achilles) and I've been told to rest it until it's better. It's been 4 weeks and it is exactly the same. I think it's going to be a long rest!

I haven't really gained much weight on the scales. Still hovering around 10 11 or 10 12 but I can feel that my skinny jeans are baggier around my calves and thighs but tight around my flabby waist. And I'm eating a load of crap because running is my no 1 coping mechanism and eating is my second since I quit drinking Gin

Stress levels are high in our house with GCSEs, work and fostering all competing for my attention. My aim for this week is to find an exercise that doesn't irritate my ankle and start doing it regularly.

NaMajesty · 27/05/2018 15:47

Hoola & TV - hope you're both feeling okay. Thanks

Kick hope your ankle sorts itself out, I know you're a keen runner. Well done on keeping focus on the weight loss though.

I am starting an 800 cal diet from tomorrow. It will include breakfast and dinner being 100 calories each. And then I will have 600 to play with for tea (and maybe a tiny snack if I can squeeze it in). Walks daily and no eating into burned calories. I'm sick of being fat. It's not a good luck at all, I don't care what anyone says! Constantly sweating, being in an unhealthy BMI bracket, taking 2000x longer to shower/moisturise/tan/exfoliate/epilate/ect, having all your clothes look too tight and having a double chin all of the time is horribleGrin

TVHubbyClaire · 27/05/2018 21:33

Thank you all for your lovely welcome back messages.
I feel like i want to get to 11st 10 and then hold things there. Have had to buy new summer clothes in smaller size so thats been good but a touch costlyConfused

Life is fine and split had to happen eventually. I instigated it but ex already seems to have new friend who she has "known" for a while and seems to have struck things up quickly.
She was angry and upset at the time but that seems to have passed so i do think its all good and for the best. DS seems fine with it all. I think he is seeing two of all good things like trainers and holidays coming his way....seriously though i am just keeping an eye on it without asking all the time if he is ok...fingers crossed things carry on like they are and we can work in a collaborative way to sort things out. Eventually we will need to seperate finances and house etc but we can let things run for a while.
lasty i did my marathon in 4 30 and i hope you are looking back and feeling quite good about the achievement rather than time.
I am going to get back on the walking and maybe start running again soon. I had fallen out of love with running but may start again now i am in a different area of town with new routes.
As ever my challenge will be pub visits and midweek desserts ...Sad

NanBoleyn · 28/05/2018 06:56

Last weekly May weigh-in! I am down to 9lb 7 and 3/4 this morning so a tiny loss but I do have PMT so hopefully scales will reflect that next week. Overall 5lb loss for May which I'm very happy with.
Also decided I should measure myself - would have been helpful to do it earlier but will start from now anyway. Chest 36 inches, waist 29, hips 39, thigh 22 (eek!)
Off for a long hike on beautiful stretch of SW coast path so will be able to eat well today. What's everyone else up to?

Softpebbles · 28/05/2018 08:03

Just popping on to say Hi to TV. Good to have you back. 😊

Sorry to hear of your recent life changes.

Where is Hairspray?!

Hope everyone is having a good bank holiday weekend. May have overdone it yesterday. Gym today and a walk. X
