I need to lose three stone... My cunning plan to lose the two stone over the winter was scuppered by me putting on another one.
So does anyone fancy a healthy eating thread? Sensible and no sugar and crap?
Or does anyone have time to follow me around prising the rubbish I'm about to consume out of my mouth?
The plan is to eat really well then at the weekend have one reasonable treat. I'm going to eat carbs but small amounts early in the day and only wholegrain or brown rice.
I'm just going to start with a stone and then see how it goes.

Malteasers & wine..... 😋

twer · 17/04/2018 23:14

sigh

Just been out for dinner at an amazing steak house.

Steak, fries, coleslaw, "dirty" rice, shrimp tacos, pork belly tempura, pornstar martini x 2 , prosecco and espresso martini.

I shall stay off the scales tomo

whereiscaroline · 18/04/2018 07:16

@twer that dinner sounds amazing!

No idea how this has happened or whether my scales are playing up but I've just weighed in again this morning.

Last weds - was 10 st 11.2
Yesterday - was 10 st 7
This morning - 10 st 2.2

Shock that means 9lbs in a week! I'm sure it's a glitch as in all my years of following every fad diet going, never seen a one week loss like that before. Deffo not weighing again for a week so that even if it's a scales issue I can pretend that it's true Grin

hmcAsWas · 18/04/2018 07:32

Time for new scales whereiscaroline?

Well done on yesterday's result though, I am sure that's not a glitch. 4lbs is excellent

Seth · 18/04/2018 07:33

@caroline that's amazing!! I wouldn't be able to stay off the scales all week - I'd have to keep checking to see if it were true (which I guess is your fear that it's not!

If it isn't a glitch then you need to market whatever you did last week . The Caroline diet!!

Seth · 18/04/2018 07:35

Sorry all my bolding went in reverse!

hmcAsWas · 18/04/2018 07:35

Meant to say Pixie - it might not suit you, but in the past when I've been dieting and feeling hungry later in the evening / night, I have brushed my teeth and gone to bed with a book. Once comfortable in bed reading, getting up and heading downstairs to the kitchen cupboards / fridge doesn't seem appealing

Littlemissloopylou · 18/04/2018 07:50

Drawn in by the excellent title 😆

Got -a lot of- weight to lose that should have dissolved by now purely through the power of thought since I jump on the 'start again monday' train every week for the past year (again).

I've a freezer draw full of healthy batch meals and a meal plan stuck to the door. Just got to remind myself to eat during the day as I tend to get busy at works and don't have lunch hours then over-eat all evening.

Ishouldntbesolucky · 18/04/2018 11:18

caroline that's amazing, well done! Even if the scales are having a glitch moment then you've still clearly lost a decent amount anyway. If it isn't a glitch, then we'll all want to know exactly what you did last week to achieve it!

I had a sneaky weigh -in this morning and appear to be 2lbs down in 3 days, so feeling happy with that so far. Still feeling hungry, but better for eating less rubbish.

hmcAsWas · 18/04/2018 12:43

Well done on the 2lbs in 3 days Ishouldnt Smile

I'm on day 2 so am going to try and hold off until Friday or Saturday before I have a sneaky interim weigh in. Will make my official weekly weigh in day Tuesday. I am using weightlossresources.co.uk to do my food diary and there is a handy results page which plots your weight loss on a line graph - hoping to see some progress on that soon

Daisy2315 · 18/04/2018 13:07

Well done those with the losses.

Can I ask, is it worth joining slimming world/weight watchers or should I try to meal plan and put food into my fitness pal?

FrancisofAss · 18/04/2018 13:11

LoL! I think I actually inadvertently quoted this thread title to a friend today. Well done everyone who has embarked on losing weight - I’ve started back on MFP which I find pretty straightforward. Lunches are always my sticking point - any ideas gratefully received Smile

Seth · 18/04/2018 13:34

Ok so it just happened. Talk about a motivating reason to stick with this..

I work near Covent Garden and was in the park near my work over lunch (I signed up for a fitness bootcamp through work) so at least I was doing something 'good')

Anyway the whole park was awash with floaty dresses, jumpsuits, lovely skirts and tops ... whilst I refused to take my long sleeved top off for to the belly overhang had a just worn my vest.

Made me feel a bit crap but also a real motivator . We may just be one the start of this particular journey but it is within our control as long as we stick with it.

I'm going to a friend's garden tonight to drink rosé but am definitely going to do the I glass of wine 1 glass of water thing.

Enjoy the sunshine ladies...

OhGood · 18/04/2018 17:34

Day 2 of new job (which is terrifying and I have no idea what I am doing but Will Be Fine)... barely hanging in there on MFP. Not sleeping too well as anxious; exhausted and carb-craving by day.

Exceeding 1600 most days but not counting exercise in - do you count exercise? And am trying to track everything I eat and be honest.

New work people planning big picnic lunch in park tomorrow and yes very motivating seth I agree with you - have literally nothing to wear that fits me and is appropriate for weather.

Salad and fizzy water tonight (new job means too tired to even contemplate pub which is, I suppose, a positive.)

whereiscaroline · 18/04/2018 17:55

@Seth and @OhGood I wholeheartedly agree: the weather is acting as an excellent motivator.

Oh the loo today at work and looked down to see my huge thighs, covered in cellulite. Sad I've been baking hot all day in black jeans.... Absolutely determined to own a pair of legs which look acceptable in shorts by peak Summer!!!

londonloves · 18/04/2018 17:59

Feeling pretty depressed about the clothing situation too, I really don't want to have to buy size 16 stuff.
While the weather is a motivator, it's also a temptation to drink cider in the garden...
plus rush hour is grim, going to feel like I deserve it by the time I'm home!
Aargh.

EatWorms · 18/04/2018 18:24

Snap London is thinking of having beer in garden once kids in bed

londonloves · 18/04/2018 18:32

Had a mental day at work. Wednesday is my Friday so we normally have wine and a takeaway... I'm going to push for sushi and get sashimi and miso, only got 500 cal left for dinner. Wine/cider will take me over tonight...

londonloves · 18/04/2018 18:54

Ok so I ordered sashimi and miso... and edamame beans and a temaki roll and rice. BIG walk with buggy tomorrow in sunshine...

millimat · 18/04/2018 21:08

@whereiscaroline wow!
Well did everybody.

cheshiremama89 · 18/04/2018 21:30

Good day today

  • 2 x shredded wheat
  • JP beans and salad
  • chicken & lemongrass stir fry
winterisstillcoming · 18/04/2018 21:30

Caroline that's fab!

I've had a rubbish day and have lapsed . Need to get it together. Start again tomorrow. ☹️

PixieN · 18/04/2018 21:47

I had a great day calorie-wise, until I went out for tea this evening. I managed to stick to one glass of prosecco though so feeling chuffed about that.

@hmcAsWas - I normally read just before bed, but i’ve been leaving it later & later so keep falling asleep with my kindle on my face. Having an earlyish night tonight. I’ve downloaded the Paul McKenna book so will see if that helps.

I know what you mean about the warmer weather... I normally hide behind cardigans & scarves. I’ve got a lovely wardrobe full of smaller clothes that i’ve been telling myself i’ll get into over the past 5 years! I’m determined to make it happen though. Better food choices tomorrow & another exercise class. Grin

llangennith · 18/04/2018 23:43

I can’t have delayed breast reconstruction till I lose 3st. You’d think that would incentivise me wouldn’t you? Two years later and I’m still 16st. BUT... last week I decided I’d had enough. I’ve lost 7lb in 8 days. Porridge for breakfast then I make myself a cream cheese and cucumber sandwich for lunch (lots of pepper) and put that in my handbag so wherever I am I’ve got my lunch. Cooked dinner as usual but no alcohol. At all. And no snacking.
Don’t know why my mindset changed but it has and it’s working. I have a bad knee (I’m old as well as fat!) so can’t exercise apart from a stroll with the dog.

millimat · 19/04/2018 07:34

@llangennith well done. That's an amazing start Star
