I need to lose three stone... My cunning plan to lose the two stone over the winter was scuppered by me putting on another one.
So does anyone fancy a healthy eating thread? Sensible and no sugar and crap?
Or does anyone have time to follow me around prising the rubbish I'm about to consume out of my mouth?
The plan is to eat really well then at the weekend have one reasonable treat. I'm going to eat carbs but small amounts early in the day and only wholegrain or brown rice.
I'm just going to start with a stone and then see how it goes.

Wow @llangennith that's great.

I think (hope) I might have had a similar epiphany moment today. Everyone on the school run and train into work looking lovely and slim and summer-y (and tanned - how?!?). And I just though oh I don't want to feel awful like this! I have such a lot of weight to lose but we go on holiday in 3 months and I would love to have lost some by then.

No sugar and no snacks has to be the plan.

londonloves · 19/04/2018 12:33

So I went about 500 cals over yesyerday. Sushi then massive row with partner which turned into quite productive late night chat with red wine. So good, but also bad!
Going to try and walk it off today round the heath. I have found one pair of cropped yoga pants which fit me...

hmcAsWas · 19/04/2018 14:40

Your food intake yesterday cheshiremamma89 deserves some sort of a halo, that is definitely less than I eat on a good day Grin

Awesome weight loss llangennith - I dream of similar results

Better luck today winter and londonloves after mini lapses yesterday.

My day 2 yesterday came in on target and I am also feeling determined today. I've just had an egg and potato salad and felt a little bit tempted for something else straight afterwards - threw open the cupboard and wrestled with my will power over some chocolate chip brioche for a few minutes, so far I haven't cracked but I think I'll have to be vigilant today

Enjoy your long walk londonloves - I nearly expired on my dog walk an hour ago, I don't know how people do more strenuous exercise when its this warm!

Tainrainrain · 19/04/2018 15:54

Really not well so I’m not doing or eating much. Horrible throat can’t speak thing. Can’t believe how well everyone is doing

I've clocked 650 cals of walking today, just over two hours. Having a chicken and salad snack to celebrate 😂
also this is a massive deal to celebrate for me, I'm managing to use a TAMpON in my period and it's no falling out! Sorry if this is TMI but I'm SO happy as it means prolapse must be getting better.

londonloves · 19/04/2018 16:49

Tain sorry you're feeling poorly xx

onefootinthegrave · 20/04/2018 07:39

I was really glad to see this thread as I really need to lose 5 stone to get back to a healthy BMI.

But I won't be writing about how awful I look, how I won't fit into a car on holiday etc etc because that's only going to make someone who's got even more to lose than me feel pretty shit about themselves. As it did when I read the first few pages of this thread.

Anyway, good luck to all and I hope we can all inspire each other to get healthier. Thanks OP for starting it.

londonloves · 20/04/2018 09:06

I don't think this thread is really supposed to be about who has the least/most to lose, more a recognition that we are all in the same boat, feeling a bit shit about our bodies as we move into summer, and some solidarity and support to help us do something about it.
I quite often see threads of people who's starting weight would make me SO happy - it doesn't invalidate their desire to lose weight.

elevent · 20/04/2018 09:26

I had a grapefruit and a black coffee for breakfast. Surely this means I'll be skinny by lunchtime??

I've got a big event on Sunday and was panicking about wearing a dress BUT I got a gorgeous wrap dress that manages to hide a multitude of sins so I'm happy. BUT must not let that make me complacent Grin.

cheshiremama89 · 20/04/2018 09:46

I'm finding it hard to curb the milk/cereal habit in the morning, I know eggs would be better but I don't always fancy themConfused

Does anyone have any good meal ideas?

Here's mine for next week:

Lean spag bol with 5% fat mince and sofritto mix to bulk out served with courgetti

Shepherds pie with sweet potato mash
(Using half of mince/sofritto from above)

Spanish omelette and salad

Peri peri chicken pitta with sweet potato fries

Salmon and cous cous salad

Haddock, poached egg, spinach and a healthy rosti

cheshiremama89 · 20/04/2018 09:48

Oh and chicken sausage traybake with peppers, onions and tomato Grin

Seth · 20/04/2018 10:03

Elevent your post made me smile. That's exactly what I had for breakfast and thought exactly the same to myself. Have also just managed a quick run round the park so I reckon I might even be skinny by 11.30 Hmm

hmcAsWas · 20/04/2018 13:01

Please lets not make this a thread where we have to weigh up carefully every single thing we post for fear of causing unwitting offence!

hmcAsWas · 20/04/2018 13:03

Your menu for next week sounds lush cheshiremama - unfortunately I haven't got any good ideas of my own for meal suggestions - I am just going to plunder yours!

Ishouldntbesolucky · 20/04/2018 13:58

cheshire your meal plan sounds great. I do need to start planning what I eat better.

For various reasons I've switched round my meals today and had my main meal for lunch. However I've just logged everything on mfp and now only have 80 calories left for the rest of the day! Was only planning on a sandwich later, but it's not going to be a very big one! Maybe I can earn a few calories back through exercise.I

Definitely need to get more organised and plan properly. Am weirdly enjoying using mfp though.

hmcAsWas · 20/04/2018 15:36

Wraps tend to be a less calorific option than 2 slices of bread Ishouldntbesolucky if that helps

Lurkingshadow · 20/04/2018 16:32

Late starter but I'd love to join!
Haven't actually weighed yet but guessing I need to lose atleast 3st Blush
Snacking is my downfall unfortunately, chocolate & crisps!

I've been following the Fitness Marshall on YouTube, if you love to dance definitely give it a go, it's so much fun & great cardio. I'm planning on dancing the fat away Grin
Being strict with diet too so more fruit & veg, 0 bread & minimal potatoes.
I also got OH to take some comparison photos of me yesterday from all angles so I can compare every few weeks Blush.

PixieN · 21/04/2018 08:12

@Lurkingshadow - Fitness Marshall sounds good. I love dancing & tried all sorts: clubbercise, piloxing, Zumba & Dancercise. I do 2 dance based classes a week now.

I found that I stalled a bit with slimming world so even though i’m still following it (mostly) i’ve started using some of the Paul McKenna tips & have lost 2lbs so far. Need to do it for longer though to see if it’s properly having an impact. It’s common sense stuff really & all about being mindful when you eat. Nothing is off limits, but you have to eat only when you’re hungry, eat slowly & consciously enjoy your food & stop when you are full. I always seem to eat on the go & i’m a fast eater so think this is helping. Apparently it takes about 20 mins to register you’re full. He also advocates that you get into the habit of leaving some food on your plate. I hate doing this, as it seems so wasteful, but i’m definitely reducing portion sizes.

It’s tricky thinking of meal ideas sometimes, but I love batch cooking so will make a spag bol, then keep a load of Bolognese to make another meal like stuffed peppers & sw chips.

Have a great weekend ladies! Planning a long walk with DH today - looks lovely out there Smile

PixieN · 21/04/2018 08:19

@cheshiremama89 - I’ve been having blueberries, grapes, strawberries & natural yoghurt with a bit of honey for breakfast.

CarpetFluff · 21/04/2018 08:20

I have an overactive thyroid and am still overweight - how has that happened? I thought it was meant to make you skinny!

NerrSnerr · 21/04/2018 08:35

I have managed to lose 2.5lbs in a couple of weeks by trying to walk more, swim and make better choices. It's going to be a slow journey for me as I don't have the motivation to properly diet but I suppose this way is better in the long run.

I return to work a week on Monday after maternity leave which means I can exercise on my lunch break.

I think I'll get there in the end, hopefully the baby will start sleeping more and I think he may self wean from the breast at some point in the near future (breastfeeding doesn't make me lose weight unfortunately). I'm fed up with being fat but not in the right place for a serious diet.

CarpetFluff · 21/04/2018 10:32

Just weighed myself. I'm now 13.1 stone. Started off last Jan as 17.3. I'm desperate to get into that 12 stone bracket. And also become overweight instead of obese. Hopefully soon!

millimat · 21/04/2018 10:34

Carpet that's brilliant Wink

Teddy1970 · 21/04/2018 11:23

I thought exactly the same when I saw your post OP, I've had over 6 months to get to a size 12 ( I'm a 16 at the moment) and I've done sod all, I'll think I'll join you because I don't want to feel and look the same come July!

Teddy1970 · 21/04/2018 11:29

My downfall is the time between 4-6pm, for some reason I'm always really hank Marvin at that time...
