I need to lose three stone... My cunning plan to lose the two stone over the winter was scuppered by me putting on another one.
So does anyone fancy a healthy eating thread? Sensible and no sugar and crap?
Or does anyone have time to follow me around prising the rubbish I'm about to consume out of my mouth?
The plan is to eat really well then at the weekend have one reasonable treat. I'm going to eat carbs but small amounts early in the day and only wholegrain or brown rice.
I'm just going to start with a stone and then see how it goes.

Welcome @Steala I've lost 10lbs since I started a month ago - and I too carry it all around my middle.

I'm using MFP mon - fri quite strictly and then relaxing on the weekend.
Not going "wild" but enjoying myself, for instance yesterday I had a healthy breakfast but then a roast with all the trimmings, Nutella cheesecake, a glass of prosecco and a few chocolates with a cup of tea before bed x

Cocolepew · 21/05/2018 12:54

Hello can I join in? This thread title always makes me smile when I see it in active convos.
I've been calorie counting for 2 weeks, 1200, and have lost 5 lbs so far. I want another stone off.
A combination of illness, medication and greed have piled the weight on me.
I finally admitted that it was chocolate causing horrendou sinus headaches so stopped it and replaced it with big bags of sweet popcorn 🍿 Blush
I stopped biscuits etc completely but still have 2 bags of 99 cal crisps a day as well as 2 diet fizzy drinks.
I don't low carb but use lower calorie bread and Tesco do lovely small wheat biscuits, they are full of saltly loveliness.
Anyone struggling with no chocolate, M&S do a multipack of corn and rice cakes with dark chocolate on them. There is about 5 or 6 mini biscuits in the packet and they are lovely, 121 calories in a pack.

Hi @Steala & Cocolepew I’ve managed to lose a stone with slimming world, but I hit a plateau so I’ve been trying other things - mainly stepping up exercise & reducing portion sizes. I’ve also been reading about the blood sugar diet which I saw on another thread & it’s really interesting. My diet has always been carb heavy so I could do with reducing that a bit.

I carry all my weight on my tummy too. Can’t bare to look in the mirror at my dance class & see my tummy jiggling about 🙈

londonloves · 21/05/2018 18:21

Gah I thought I was going to hit my calorie target today then I remembered the dark chocolate I had earlier to celebrate the baby going to sleep...
I read somewhere that it's virtually impossible to lose weight when sleep deprived, as your body is in permanent crisis mode. So I am fucked...!

Cocolepew · 21/05/2018 20:58

Stupid question but is it bad to eat below your daily calories?
The getting fat because your body goes into starvation mode isnt true is it?

cheshiremama89 · 21/05/2018 21:08

@Cocolepew I am usually happy if I'm under by 50/100 cals as this compensates for any extras I may have forgotten; milk in tea etc.

I wouldn't however make a habit of being too far under your cals.

For me, if I eat too little, I WILL binge at some point, and so if I have a few spare I have a treat even if I'm not desperate for one.

As I think a bit of what you fancy makes it more of a lifestyle.

Cocolepew · 21/05/2018 21:18

Thanks cheshire, a couple of times I've been 2-300 hundred under and have tried to eat something to bring the count up.

LilaoftheGreenwood · 22/05/2018 14:17

I'm sure I've read that we've massively overblown this starvation mode thing, and you have to be pretty deprived for quite some time (hence how people survive in actual starvation conditions), it's not something that gets triggered every time you skip breakfast.

I'm still struggling with "special" events that keep blowing the routine, am on my second week of frustrating plateau. So clearly these are not "special" events at all and I need to find a way of working them in or behaving differently at them!

Hiphopopotamus · 22/05/2018 16:51

So after my terrible week last week I weighed myself today and I’m 3lbs down. So with my gain last week only 1lb down from 2 weeks ago - but going in the right direction at least!

You guys are all doing so great. It keeps me going reading about everyone else

PixieN · 22/05/2018 18:56

Well done @Hiphopopotamus I’ve just weighed in at 1 & a half lbs down since last week so feeling pretty good. I’ve decided to go low carbs on Tuesdays & Thursdays (when I don’t exercise) so will see how that works out. I love carbs so will be tricky. Just had a yummy salmon & veg omelette for tea.

Looking at my weight each week, it’s interesting to see a pattern, that I usually maintain or gain a lb (or even two!) the week before my period. Very annoying, but looks like it’s hormonal & at least I know to expect it now.

This thread is definitely keeping me going. Think i’d have given up before now! We can do this ladies! Smile

Cocolepew · 23/05/2018 09:26

Well done losers! Grin
I've another lb off, so I'm heading in the right direction. Unfortunately my face isn't. I've lost weight from it and it appears to have melted Hmm.
It was the only part of me I liked fat.

NerrSnerr · 23/05/2018 09:56

I have finally stopped thinking and started doing. I am trying to stick to 1600 calories and eating better food. I'm still breastfeeding so not worrying if over occasionally but I need to stop having pasta and cheese for lunch and tea. I am 1.5lbs down, only another 2.5 stone to go!

OhGood · 23/05/2018 10:10

Hi Steala - I wonder if new-style weight watchers would work for you? I think it's pretty good for people who are wary of calorie-counting. It also seems to work for almost everyone who tries it (that I know of!)

I can't do it because I am NOT a joiner and so hate clubs, and also just can't get to meetings. I have a 5-hour commute and the idea of then driving to a meeting in the evening is just nooooooooooooooo....

cheshiremama89 · 23/05/2018 11:13

@NerrSnerr breastfeeding over here too! Grin
I have (naughty) snacks with me at all times in case hunger strikes!
Nutella B-Ready, Mikado and Alpen Light are always in my handbag

PixieN · 23/05/2018 19:40

@OhGood I know what you mean about groups. I weigh in with sw, but don’t stay for image therapy. Feel a bit guilty, but it takes too long if you stay! Need the accountability of weekly weigh in though!

Does anyone else have a midweek treat? I’ve been going out for a meal with DH midweek - usually have one small prosecco, lightish main (usually fish) & often succumb to a cheesecake. Not having a bad effect on weight loss & it’s keeping me going! Grin

cheshiremama89 · 24/05/2018 10:20

As of this morning down 12lbs since I started mid April!

Still feel huge! Can't imagine what I was like with the extra 12lbs on, wish I had taken before pics.

Carrying my 15lb son around puts the weight into perspective! A stone is a lot!

@PixieN I have "treats" almost daily and ensure I have a few cals left so I can factor something sweet in. X

millimat · 24/05/2018 22:50

@cheshiremama89 I know what you mean. I'm 15lbs down but still feel like I've a lot to go yet.

PixieN · 25/05/2018 00:02

I’ve lost 15lbs in total too & I can’t see where it’s gone! Just wish I could lose another stone from my stomach, but that will prob be the last area to lose!

Not doing so well tonight. Had a glass of proessco this evening & got the munchies - ended up eating a load of Pringles & chocolate 😱

Middleoftheroad · 25/05/2018 06:57

Well done losers! Stuck on about 9-10lb loss for past few weeks due to a few deviations.

Im away this weekend with the family but will still try to diet, but it will be hard.

millimat · 26/05/2018 08:22

I'm away too, so that 15lb weight loss is going to be tricky to maintain!

NerrSnerr · 26/05/2018 14:26

We have visitors and am trying to ignore the left overs and the cakes that are left over.

I'm getting a bit concerned about what's going to be left of my belly. After 2 sections and putting on weight after the second baby (who is now a year) I'm worried the overhang is going to end up down by my knees! I wish I could afford surgery once I have lost the weight because it's going to look awful.

LilaoftheGreenwood · 26/05/2018 15:03

This is sort of related to our ongoing struggle - has anyone found any good sources of nice long tops for summer? I am 5'7 and long-bodied anyway so with the current all-round podge normal tops ride even higher and they look so awful and poorly fitting.

JemmimaJ · 26/05/2018 15:27

Hi, can I join please. I just looked in the mirror and didnt like what I saw.
Steala Im not good with dieting either as it triggers old emotional issues around body/weight issues but also know that I want and need to lose a couple of stone to be fitter and look better. So Im going to just focus on lower fat lower sugar and no artificial stuff. So fruit, veg, protein basically. I dont eat diary. I know this way works for me and I eat normally and dont feel hungry or deprived. I cant do feeling hungry or deprived. I can go without food If not hungry though but to be told by a diet that I cant eat for so many hours or that this food or that isnt allowed- well that just sets me off on wanting to binge.

JemmimaJ · 26/05/2018 15:29

Lila New Look do long vest tops cotton, viscose with elastin. They come to mid thigh on me at 5.8 tall but i wear them under everything to give that smooth line under all my clothes. Great also with a shorter top over.
