I need to lose three stone... My cunning plan to lose the two stone over the winter was scuppered by me putting on another one.
So does anyone fancy a healthy eating thread? Sensible and no sugar and crap?
Or does anyone have time to follow me around prising the rubbish I'm about to consume out of my mouth?
The plan is to eat really well then at the weekend have one reasonable treat. I'm going to eat carbs but small amounts early in the day and only wholegrain or brown rice.
I'm just going to start with a stone and then see how it goes.

Third week in and have lost around 7lb of my 2 stone via MFP 1200 cal per day in week and 1500 Sat and Sun.

It's tough as I too love carbs but won't give them up. My menu is bread heavy with not enough fruit or protein, so need to work on that but would rather have a Fibre one choc brownie than an apple! I don't do any exercise, but have never lost weight that way (though am planning some to tone up).

Breakfast - porridge pot (200 cal approx)

Lunch - Bagel and half tbsp Philadelphia light/salad (300 cal approx)

Snack - Holland and Barratt chilli chickpeas pack (88 cal) or Satsumas

Dinner - 3 stuffed peppers with home made ratatouille (eat this most nights) and salad (200 cal approx.)

Fibre one Choc Brownie - 79 cal

Wholemeal toast and spread (220 cal)

Morning gang. So I had a bagel yesterday and still hit my calorie target so I think I might be going to allow myself bread two days a week I.e. when I'm working... and see how it goes. But it is like crack to me...
I got on scales this morning and have shifted the weekend's 4lb bloat in three days which is nice, so I'm back down to 12 stone 8 (well, 12 stone 7.9, the 7 is very important to me)... all time post baby low!
Onwards! I want to break the 12 stone line before holiday 25th May.
Couscous salad for lunch with a chicken breast
Graze box, apple and banana snack
Chicken and veg stir fry for dinner.
No wine. No no no.
We are doing it guys, to us!

londonloves · 25/04/2018 06:54

Well done everyone on the losses!
I feel inspired to make some ratatouille now.

Middleoftheroad · 25/04/2018 07:23

Well done London that's good going! I just can't give up bread.....

I sometimes have a baked potato with ratatouille as it's filling - should prob make that one a sweet potato though.

Breaking through that stone makes such a difference. I want to break through 11st next week (bear in mind I'm only 5ft 2 so this is still big for me).

I used this BMI comparison on BBC news today. Not sure I'm relieved to be 'average' for my age (44) when average seens so high!

Sooo...I've cut out all chocolate and sweet things - no after dinner puddings and no lovely almond croissants for breakfast - for a week now and....nada. The scales have not moved. I am dispirited!!

The very funny Thread Title pulled me in.

I’ve enjoyed reading all the posts. I find reading threads like this very inspiring. However, I’m a Cook-coo as I’m on the Low Carb Threads.

Low carb eating has transformed my weight loss journey. I was like a lot of you ladies; I’d start a ‘diet’, fall of the bandwagon & repeat for infinity . Going low carb got rid of cravings and I learnt fat is not the enemy. I’ve reduced my blood sugar levels, lost visceral fat and generally feel tickety boo. I very rarely drink calories (alcohol). It’s not a diet but a way of life for me now.

Oh I forgot to mention I’ve lost about 1 1/4 stones over about 4 months. Nice and slow and sustainable.

GinThereDoneThat · 25/04/2018 11:11

I also forgot to lose the mass amount of fat that I seem to have accumulated.. so I'm joining too Blush

Been dieting for 3 days now (go me GrinHmm) as follows:

Granola with no fat Greek yoghurt, chia seeds and fruit with some honey for breakfast

Soup for lunch with one slice of wholemeal bread (no butter Sad)

Breakfast biscuits as a snack

Dinner - chicken or fish with vegetables and brown pasta or rice!

I have accepted that I'll never be back in my size 8 clothes - but I can get to a 10!! I have to Wink currently a 14 for clothes and 16 in swimwear Smile

LilaoftheGreenwood · 25/04/2018 11:42

Argh my thighs are like jelly this morning. Bloody Jillian. Thought I was going to pitch clean down the escalator at London Bridge.

Twoo agree low carbing is so effective, it's how I lost this same sodding 1.5 stone before. This time my aim is "sensible" carbing combined with smaller portions, embrace the good fats for satiety, little/no alcohol and decent exercise (last two definitely were not the case before!). Looking back I was still a "skinny fat" person before even after I'd lost the weight, and this is as much about my health as anything.

For breakfast had a few dollops of natural yoghurt and a banana. Lunch is going to be leftover risotto (yum!), which will be my last carb today, I'll have chicken or fish and some lovely greens/celery wilted in pesto and butter for dinner. Loving my spring veggies at the moment, the sun coming out always makes me eat better.

londonloves · 25/04/2018 11:46

16 mins TIL I'm allowed to eat lunch!
Trying to get used to tolerating what being hungry feels like, rather than just stuffing myself...
Nothing tastes as good as thin fells... repeat....!!
Ideally would love to get back into my size 12 denim shorts before it's winter again!

Twoo · 25/04/2018 11:53

Sounds like you have a plan Lila’ Grin

hmcAsWas · 25/04/2018 12:11

I can't really do low carbing as dd has recently become vegetarian and I am keeping her company with that - have cut back on carbs a fair bit though. You can loose weight without low carbing, but I agree its a lot easier to diet if you do follow low carb - filling up on lots of lean protein. I used to keep cooked chicken legs in the fridge for hungry moments when previously fighting the flab, and the weight would fall off me with low carbs

chesiremama - on visualising outfits I would like to wear something more fitted. At the moment I am favouring billowing loose tops, and I have this weird thing of wearing a long line fitted black vest under everything so that my bum is definitely covered and there is no risk of exposing camel toe - which seems to be a fat phenomena for me (probably because I am wearing jeans etc which are too tight and refusing the next size up) Shock Blush

Good to hear a lot of positives on here with everyone poised for action and determined to smash it. I'm also feeling incentivised today. Bring it on!

Middleoftheroad · 25/04/2018 15:19

I wear a black vest under clothes to try to control my stomach and top stomach!

My clothes are tight but my aunt dragged me into Roman today (previously have overlooked this shop as, even at 45ish, in my imagination I still channel an inner Indie chick) and I finally found the comfiest, stretchiest elasticated waistbound trousers that aren't old fashioned. No more camel toe. Plus am a 12 in those rather than usual 16 waist/stomach vs my size 10 legs Grin

winterisstillcoming · 25/04/2018 18:55

Well done everyone! Well the Pmt is abating and have been really good today too!

My oriental salad dressing: equal quantities of : rice vinegar, soy sauce, agave syrup and gojichang paste (Waitrose). Drizzle over boxed salads.

Am relaxing in the bath after a long day in prep for hot yoga tonight.

Keep at it all xx

PixieN · 25/04/2018 18:56

Feeling motivated today! I didn’t do the C25K, but I ran through the park & back instead (1 a half miles I think) combined with walking. Not sure of the logistics with C25K as nowhere to put my phone & think you’re supposed to follow a trainer. Not sure I fancy headphones while running.

I’ve been reducing my portion sizes & trying to eat until i’m pleasantly full (following Paul McKenna) instead of scoffing everything in sight! Grin I feel like it’s actually working now as I’m 10st something rather than 11st something, which i’ve been for ages, after creeping up to 12st before I started SW.

The link to the BBC article was interesting - got my hubby to have a go too as we’re both trying to lose weight.

PixieN · 25/04/2018 18:57

Thanks @winterisstillcoming Smile

londonloves · 25/04/2018 19:00

Wine wine wine no no no.
Is all I have to say!
Hopefully the scales will reward me!
Well done everyone xx

whereiscaroline · 25/04/2018 20:00

I WANT TO EAT ALL THE CHOCOLATE!!!

But I won't. Sugar cravings are definitely back with a vengeance after only one day off the wagon at the weekend. Angry

Weighed in today, 8lbs down from starting 2 weeks ago but feeling bloated and rubbish, not flat tummy-ed and zen. I don't feel slimmer if that makes sense?!

What's everyone having for dinner? Got some lamb steaks in the fridge but nil inspiration of what to do with them........

londonloves · 25/04/2018 20:39

Just had leftover roast chicken and stir fry veg with soy sauce. No rice. But I had a rice and king prawn salad pot thing at work at 6 before I left. 67 cals over today (I'm getting away with it cos I run around all day at work and have 35 mins walk as per if commute each day). Hoping another few good days will get me down a few pounds.

londonloves · 25/04/2018 20:40

8lb I'm two weeks is great!
Lamb steaks with roast veg if you have any lying around? Sweet potato mash?

whereiscaroline · 25/04/2018 21:50

@londonloves stir fry is an excellent idea for a quick actually, I will grab some of the prepared veg when I next go food shopping.

Tonight went to pot, my boyfriend got called out to work so I sat waiting for him before eating, then got overcome with hunger and ate buttery crumpets... oops Blush

8lbs sounds good but not convinced my scales are working too well - they showed an 11lbs loss last week!

Anyone got any scales with body fat percentage function which they would recommend?

londonloves · 25/04/2018 21:55

Ah yes you're the 11lb lady!
Would also be interested in body fat scales

hmcAsWas · 26/04/2018 10:23

I have these scales which include body fat etc
here
They seem pretty reliable, in that they show me I haven't lost any weight due to the inordinate amount of alcohol I have knocked back recently! Blush. They seem to get good reviews generally

My sister has gone back to Australia now, so this morning I have poured a bottle of wine and 3 beers down the sink so there is no my temptation left in the house!

hmcAsWas · 26/04/2018 10:25

For some reason I seem to have linked to the Amazon USA site - but I am confident you can get them over here

LilaoftheGreenwood · 26/04/2018 11:50

whereiscaroline I've got a big tub of ratatouille in the fridge and no idea what to have with it, between us we have one perfect dinner! I do need to figure out something tempting so I don't crack and open a beer (Thursday is my Friday cos I work p/t).

Think about it, it's terrible how reliant I've got on "treats", it's just food and drink! If I need "treats" all the time just to get through then I should prob focus on making my life better.

On day 4 now and it's been easyish so far but I'm definitely hungrier this morning, it's like my body has just noticed it isn't routinely allowed pain au chocolat any more and is demanding to see the manager. Spoilt brat.

Thanks for the scales link!

cheshiremama89 · 26/04/2018 17:15

I don't know if I'm going to lose this week, the scales aren't going down, in fact have gone UP over the past two days only marginally but still...

I'm eating like a saint too!!!

DH has mentioned going out for lunch on sat and we're having a family roast on Sunday...

How on earth is this going to work!
