Thin by Christmas! At least 5 stones to get rid of.

I have to lose 5 stones. 6 would be better. My excess weight is not helping my health. It’s one thing to worry about how I look but it’s really holding me back now. I’m tired and achey.

I’m pushing 50 so I really ought to get a grip!

My plan is to generally be healthier and eat better, eat less and squeeze in some exercise. Which is tricky because I work really long hours.

I’m starting now. I ate a huge Belgian bun earlier while standing up putting shopping away. Things like that need to stop.

If anyone wants to join please feel free but I intend to post even if I just talk to myself.

If I’m successful I’m going to treat myself to new clothes for Christmas. I’m in elasticated waisted jersey trousers now, ugh!

Hello all.

Gosh I’m shattered after getting to bed really late last night and when I’m tired I crave carbs. Food wise it’s been ok. Scrambled egg on rye toast, a quinoa seed bar, salad with meat and cheese, mushroom risotto with chicken and a nakd bar. Wish I’d eaten some fruit but can do that tomorrow. I need to drink more water but I have had a few glasses today so it’s a good start.

I forgot to weigh myself this morning so will have to remember tomorrow. How’s everyone got on food wise today?

yeeyeelovesraaraa · 05/03/2018 21:11

Bit late to the party but can I join too? I'm 38, 5ft 7 & 14st 12lb. I need to lose about 4st to get me to the top of my healthy bmi. I've been... ahem... trying to do WW for the last year & initially lost well but life keeps getting in the way (plus I eat too much & don't exercise enough) and its all crept back on plus more besides. I'm debating whether to stick at it or whether to cancel my membership & try either SW or gym regime plus MFP plus low carb (BSD type thing).

I'm completely rubbish at tracking what I eat (distracted easily by toddler) but I really need to stop making excuses & do it properly. We're going away in July on an active holiday & I could really do to have lost 2st by then - is that achievable do you think?

Mooey89 · 05/03/2018 21:52

-3 today!

BackAwayFatty · 05/03/2018 22:50

1st weigh in for me.

Weighing in at 15st 2lbs (5ft 6)

Have a terrible habit of making 14st & then celebrating with food! Need to keep at it this time.

Goal weight 10st 4

Well done to everyone who has lost/stayed/posted - starting is the hardest past.

Today I've been good & tracked all food on MFP. Stayed under my calorie intake. Cut down on fizzy & resisted dairy.

RubySlippers77 · 05/03/2018 23:01

My goal weight is 10st 4 too BackAwayFatty! I started the year with all good intentions to lose the 3st I needed to get there. After 10 weeks with a horrible flu virus and eating everything in sight to try to get some energy, I'm finally feeling slightly better and possibly even well enough to brave a visit to Weight Watchers on Thursday, as I just can't shift the pounds on my own. There will be a Shock face at the scales, I'm sure!

cheesemumma · 06/03/2018 02:50

Hello everyone. @mooey89 yay!! We'll done.

yippeekiyay2 · 06/03/2018 06:29

Well done everyone who lost on their first weeks! Star I didn’t get chance to weigh myself yesterday- not sure where the scales are actually atm and not having time to do stuff is a common theme for me. Dh often goes away for Work for a couple of nights a time and when he does I have zero time to myself trying to sort both kids out. Had about 4 hours sleep last night and dd2 up at 5am this morning. Work to get ready for and other dd to get up shortly Sad. I had a slightly better day yesterday as made sure I took lunch to work but suspect I am going to struggle this week due to dh away now til wed then again at weekend...

glitterbiscuits · 06/03/2018 08:27

In my continuing quest to look and feel better I’ve booked in to get my eyelashes dyed after work today!

I haven’t done any exercise yet but I have an exercise bike in the shed. It’s too heavy for me to lift out on my own but I have asked for it to be brought indoors. I’m working stupidly long hours at the moment. I like exercise but there is just no time.

I’m feeling quite determined but so impatient! I want to be better now! (Stamps foot!)

Just ate a big bit of cake at work for someone's bday. I need to make sure this is NOT my excuse to just blow it an eat everything

JanesTeddy · 06/03/2018 09:21

@cheesemumma I also had cake yesterday for tea. It was a someone's birthday and they saved me such a pretty pink cupcake with lots of icing, unfortunately all it did was make me feel sick and tired afterwards.

Possibly my body is adapting to not having so much sugar.

Anyway back on plan today.

Karmin · 06/03/2018 11:05

One bit of cake is a blip, just eat less throughout the day and try and go for a walk!

We will get there, our bodies want us to! They just need to be re-taught what is good for it rather than what it thinks it wants.

I am drinking more water and had a good day yesterday food wise, I also hit my fitbit moving counts (250 steps each hour for 9 hours)

Murinae · 06/03/2018 15:11

I wavering towards a snack inmy desk drawer. It is a slim fast choc one so not too bad but I’m still trying to avoid snacking.

Kept within my calories yesterday and so far today. I’m amazed how many extra calories mfp adds on for walking 10000 steps. It was about 1000!! I’m trying not to eat my exercise calories either but did go for a walk at lunchtime rather sit in the coffee room

glitterbiscuits · 06/03/2018 15:50

I’m feeling quite smug because I ate a pear and not toast!

I’ve never got to grips with My Fitness Pal but I would like a calorie tracker. I just haven’t got the patience or time to weigh everything I cook.

DH says exercise bike is now waiting for me but it won’t be in use today as I don’t think I will be back until 8.

Murinae · 06/03/2018 16:20

glitterbiscuits I’m finding mfp more user friendly this time than last time (2014!). It has a bar code reader so stuff like boots shapers prawn cocktail twists (highly recommended as a snack!) you can just use your camera and it adds it automatically. Cooking from scratch is more weary but you can put meals in and save them for next time you cook it. It’s helping me keep track of what I’m eating anyway.

cheesemumma · 06/03/2018 16:20

Bad day today. I need to get a grip and make sure tomorrow is better.

Murinae · 06/03/2018 16:22

It also connects automatically to my Fitbit

glitterbiscuits · 06/03/2018 16:36

@cheesemumma. Don’t wait for tomorrow. Reinit back in now. Or should that be Reign?

De-lurking to join in. I am 45, mildly perimenopausal but nothing too significant, 5' 3" and 14 stone 6. I'd be delighted to lose 2 stone but should aim for at least 4 really.

Recently had my NHS health check - by some lucky miracle I have low blood pressure, low cholesterol, and normal blood sugars. But I do have dreadful reflux, my back aches and I have plantar fasciitis. I also had gallbladder problems and a giant gallstone up until last November when they whipped everything out, no issues now.

I just look horrible, fat from neck to ankle, and currently wearing size 18 trousers and 20 tops!

I have lost and regained 3 stone at least twice in the last 12 years, and lost and regained a stone or so multiple times (hence the gallstones). I've done weight watchers, slimming world, and MFP. My DH needs to lose weight, but only a couple of stone and he is much fitter than me as he does a physical job - he wants us to be properly walking-fit for our Scotland trip in the summer!

I'd like to be accountable to this thread and weigh in on Mondays - but I might reconsider WW, what's the new plan like anyone?

cheesemumma · 06/03/2018 16:47

Ok. I'll stop now. Nothing else shall enter my cakehole today. Come on 2lb this week.

glitterbiscuits · 06/03/2018 16:51

Hello RadioDorothy!

I was too scared to go to my 40+ check. I already had a blood sugar and blood pressure test at the pharmacy and that was anonymous. They were both high. So I stuck my head in the sand instead.

I’m really paying the penalty now

glitterbiscuits · 06/03/2018 16:57

Well done Cheese! It will be worth it.

Murinae - Thanks I will take another look.

Ah, our old friend denial huh. I am in denial when I eat 5 creme eggs in a day.

I have a minor obstacle which is probably just me being a whiny bitch, and that's IBS - I can eat a shit ton of chocolate and white bread with no problems (have to be careful with cake these days, absence of gallbladder put paid to cake binges fortunately) - but more than 1 or 2 portions of fruit/veg will have me on the bog 5 times a day. Very inconvenient. Not sure what to do about that.

Pob13 · 06/03/2018 17:05

Im determined to go to pilates tonight. Immensely unfit but I have to start somewhere.

Murinae · 06/03/2018 19:15

@Pob13 well done for going to Pilates. I’ve gone to bed early to stop me snacking.

glitterbiscuits · 06/03/2018 20:00

@Pob13 - Did you go? I hope so. I’m so jealous!

However I am sitting here with black eyelashes so I have done something to help myself.
