Thin by Christmas! At least 5 stones to get rid of.

I have to lose 5 stones. 6 would be better. My excess weight is not helping my health. It’s one thing to worry about how I look but it’s really holding me back now. I’m tired and achey.

I’m pushing 50 so I really ought to get a grip!

My plan is to generally be healthier and eat better, eat less and squeeze in some exercise. Which is tricky because I work really long hours.

I’m starting now. I ate a huge Belgian bun earlier while standing up putting shopping away. Things like that need to stop.

If anyone wants to join please feel free but I intend to post even if I just talk to myself.

If I’m successful I’m going to treat myself to new clothes for Christmas. I’m in elasticated waisted jersey trousers now, ugh!

I like rambling posts. It's friendly. Well done Bloomers, you may need to change your name to skinny knickers or something.

I also work from home and toast is my weakness as I can eat it walking about trying to multi task.
Looks like we are on hols at the same time. I want to get down to,the next stone bracket so I need 18lbs in 6 weeks. It's possible but not easy.
The warm weather has yet again I'm too fat. Not that I needed anything

Ruby yes let's keep going to the end! My ideal is trying to get to Christmas and forget about diets for the rest of my life. To get to a good weight and then keep an eye on it and if I go say 5lbs over, put some effort in.

6lb is amazing Bloomers!!

My half-yearathon thought was that starting on Jan 1st, some people have done a 'streak' (days not nudity!) of how long they've done/ not done something for - exercise/ eat healthily/ take vitamins, whatever. My idea is that I pick one or two of these and start a streak myself, so that I could say on December 31st I'm on day 183. Well, hopefully....! It's supposed to provide some extra motivation, in that if you're on day 30 then you might not be tempted to chuck it all in and eat cake Grin

Anyhow, just an idea for now, I'll let you know if I go ahead or have any better plans.

I'm back at WW tomorrow, emailed my coach to warn her not to be too disappointed with tubby me when I finally return after 4 weeks. She sent me a very lovely reply back. I feel a bit better now!

Hello all! Been away on a very much needed girls' holiday - had a lovely time, relaxed but didn't go totally mad on the food and drink front...giving myself the rest of this week to come back down to earth and will weigh in next Monday. Well done on losses - am definitely determined to keep going and stay till Christmas (at least)!

Only just found this thread, but have been doing this since January. Have lost 3 stone, would like to lose another 2.

Holidays have been tricky, but am keeping away from bread, pasta, rice and potatoes and try to be sensible about the booze. It's going slowly, but hopefully sustainably.

CaitSith · 21/06/2018 19:31

I’d love to join you guys! 2 kids and lots of ups and downs in life have judged me out of the “curvy but shapely” bracket and well into “one huge curve” territory, though at 5”8 it could be worse as I don’t carry it horrendously. Finally decided to get my act together and sort it out a few weeks ago and so far things aren’t going too badly but it seems like I’m going to lose a week every month thanks to my TOTM Angry

First week lost 6 pounds, despite doing nothing different gained it all back in 3 days in the lead up, then it took 4 days to vanish again so a week later I’m back where I started Hmm

My killers are wine, inactivity and snacking instead of proper meals, I work from home so it’s far too easy to grab a handful of something every time I pass the kitchen rather than make something proper, and long hours and small children mean I don’t have much time for exercise.

I’ve got a mini exercise bike under my desk that I’m using for 30-60 minutes a day, am making an effort to eat properly 3 times a day with no snacks, and am drinking nothing but water other than a couple of glasses of wine at the weekend. Hoping to be down to the weight I was when I got married 7 years ago by Christmas, which is doable at 2 pounds a week!

Starting weight - 17st 3.8 Blush
Target weight - 13st
Current weight - 16st 11.6 (6.2 pounds down)

RubySlippers77 · 22/06/2018 10:52

Hello again mama! Glad you enjoyed things without going mad Smile

And hello to the newbies! CaitSith I empathise, I'm shorter than you so just look lumpy... used to have nice curves but now they're all buried under layers of lard Sad

Well everyone, despite a truly dire start to my fat fighting year, I'm determined that this summer will be the last one I spend as a fatty struggling to find things that fit. It has been very depressing to buy clothes in bigger sizes! I know I've spent a long time ill but spending months as a cake disposal unit didn't help either...

mama2005 · 22/06/2018 13:42

Hello to you too Ruby! And welcome to new folk- hope you find it as helpful and positive as I have (am sure you will)!

mama2005 · 25/06/2018 09:30

Good morning all - have put on 1lb this week, the remnants of a week away and family birthday...back to it this week. Wishing you all well for the week ahead!

RubySlippers77 · 25/06/2018 16:14

Afternoon all! Melting here... didn't weigh in but have had a pedicure and done lots of cleaning, productive day one way and another. If only I wasn't so tubby I might enjoy the sun more Hmm

RubySlippers77 · 25/06/2018 20:25

My toes look lovely now, by the way. Shame about the rest of me Sad

mama2005 · 25/06/2018 20:39

Ah Ruby, lovely toes is a very good start - the rest will follow! Very, very hot here too, but am promising myself that this is the last summer that I will not properly enjoy due to feeling too fat...

Myownwendyhouse · 25/06/2018 22:18

Can I join in? I have two stone to lose to get myself down to ten stone. I sit okay there and all my clothes then would be a 10|12. I have so many clothes of that size just sitting there. Waiting to be worn.

I have so far lost over half a stone. Hoping that I see an 11 on the scales when I stand on them next week. That would make me happy.

I clean eat due to my stomach issues. So I can't eat processed food or junk food etc.

You would think just eating fruit and veg would mean the weight falls off. It did at the beginning. But now not so much. But still. A pound is a pound. And better than a gain.

glitterbiscuits · 26/06/2018 14:09

1lb down.

Someone asked me if I'd lost weight last week! I denied it. Denial is my permanent stance with anything to with weight, gain or loss.

26 weeks to Christmas!

RubySlippers77 · 27/06/2018 11:28

Well done from everyone here though glitter!

I can understand you not telling people - there's a small group of female friends that I talk to about my weight loss efforts (as we are all in the same boat!) - other than that no-one, not even DP as he's so ruddy unhelpful...

RubySlippers77 · 27/06/2018 11:35

Oh and hello Wendy, nice to have you on board Smile

Thank you mama, I live in hope of the rest of me joining my toes in loveliness!!

glitterbiscuits · 27/06/2018 12:44

I'm off on holidays in 5 weeks.
IM tempted to do,something drastic like @MyVisionsComeFromSoup meal replacements
I really want another one stone off.
I'm still in cardigans to hide my bingo wings. I quite like the heat, it just doesn't like me.

We need an update from lots of people! Where has everyone gone.

OP posts:
AuntyElle · 27/06/2018 12:56

Ooooh, I’ll join you. I’m two days in and want to lose 4 stone by Christmas.

glitterbiscuits · 27/06/2018 14:26

Hello AuntyElle, welcome. 2lbs a week would just about do it.

OP posts:
AuntyElle · 27/06/2018 18:17

I’m trying to do the Michael Mosley Blood Sugar Diet. Don’t know if it’s been mentioned before but it might be one way of losing a stone quickly, 800 calories/day for 8 weeks.

Stickerrocks · 27/06/2018 22:56

I've found you all again. I've now lost 30.5lbs and DH has lost over 5 stone. I've survived DD's GCSEs, a very stressful time with my Mil and my own DM facing some potentially serious health problems. We've eaten out a lot, but I've not been a complete pig & I should fit nicely in my posh frocks for my cruise next week.

Even more exciting though is the news that my wardrobe now contains clothes in sizes from 24 to 16. I've discovered that some stuff from Fat face actually fits me in normal sizes, if the shape is triangular enough. My favourite trousers (size 24) are virtually unbearable unless I yank them upfonstantly.

RubySlippers77 · 27/06/2018 23:35

Well done Sticker!! I can't remember, are you following a specific diet or just MFP/ eating sensibly? Either way, 30lb is fantastic Grin

Stickerrocks · 28/06/2018 06:47

I'm on 1200-1500 calories per day and he's on 1900. We have a notebook to write it all down in and a big stack of Good Food & Hairy Dieters recipe books nothing sophisticated at all.

CaitSith · 28/06/2018 09:37

Weighed in this morning at another 3.9 pounds down from the same day last week and 10.1 down overall since the 4th of June, I'm so chuffed! After years of yo-yoing I've finally hit my "this is enough" point and (so far at least!) it's working. I'm sure I won't carry on losing at this rate as things progress but I'm happy for it to take as long as it takes as long as things are moving in the right direction, and I'm sure I'll keep going once I've hit my initial goal weight as I've found what works for me and this is definitely my diet for life.

I've even got a Fitbit coming today, and when we move in a few weeks I'm planning to get a treadmill in the garage so that I can start doing couch to 5k without the humiliation of running in public, I can't wait to get started!

My attitude has changed so much over the last couple of months that I barely recognise it, and I think I'm starting to scare DH with my new found quest for health and fitness Grin
