Thin by Christmas! At least 5 stones to get rid of.

I have to lose 5 stones. 6 would be better. My excess weight is not helping my health. It’s one thing to worry about how I look but it’s really holding me back now. I’m tired and achey.

I’m pushing 50 so I really ought to get a grip!

My plan is to generally be healthier and eat better, eat less and squeeze in some exercise. Which is tricky because I work really long hours.

I’m starting now. I ate a huge Belgian bun earlier while standing up putting shopping away. Things like that need to stop.

If anyone wants to join please feel free but I intend to post even if I just talk to myself.

If I’m successful I’m going to treat myself to new clothes for Christmas. I’m in elasticated waisted jersey trousers now, ugh!

Welcome, Felicity, Unicorn and Raven. I’m pretty much a newcomer here but finding everyone supportive. I find it really useful to have somewhere to check in every week to keep me focussed.
Good luck on your journeys.

Unicornwhisperer · 24/05/2018 09:56

Hi Felicity, I am 5ft6 too. Dieting twins!

Felicitycity · 24/05/2018 14:26

Unicorn - it sounds like wine might be your downfall - the same as me!! I kept to the SW rules yesterday except had 3 big glasses of wine. I have put 11.7 as my target - but I probably need to lose 3 stone too.
What method are you using?

gearandloathing · 24/05/2018 21:47

I too am hoping to be thin by christmas. I've only a stone to lose, but I have a history of yo yo dieting (losing and gaining very quickly, I've lost and put back on 10lbs in less than a month before on more than one occasion)

So this time I'm going reeealllll slow and steady, like the tortoise, using a paleo/clean eating approach. And completely giving up sugar and junk food which is my nemesis.

I've already lost 8 lbs (this is in addition to the remaining stone), and feel a lot better both physically and mentally.

BigFatBloomers · 25/05/2018 10:29

A cheeky midweek weigh in shows 1.5lbs on. Could be something to do with the curry and beers last night (friends staying!). Must focus for the rest of the week.

JustBeingJobless · 25/05/2018 11:44

1lb off at weigh in today, taking me to 2 stones and into a new stone bracket, which makes me happy :) Well done to everyone.

MindBodyChocolate · 25/05/2018 17:15

Weighed in today and down to 18st2 so a total of 11lbs off. Really hopeful that by the end of the next week I will have shifted a stone. Away for the weekend at FIL’s which will be a challenge but at least he doesn’t tend to have lots of snacks around.

RubySlippers77 · 26/05/2018 13:19

Well done Just and Mind 👏

Anyone else having a hard weekend? DP is working most of it, I'm in lots of pain from AF and the DC are being unbearably bloody awful - so much squabbling and scratching at each other that I'd be happy to drop them off at the nearest orphanage. Oh, and we've had a power cut and now the trip switch won't come back on. Joy...

glitterbiscuits · 26/05/2018 18:47

I’m 2lbs down. With a lovely week off to look forward to.

Well done Just, Mind and Glitter.
Glitter enjoy your week off. Sounds like you really need it.

Ruby I hope your weekend got better or at least the power came back quickly.

I’m going to wait to weigh tomorrow.
Doing pretty well with the carbs but I have drunk more than usual so we’ll see.

glitterbiscuits · 27/05/2018 08:38

30 weeks to Christmas!

That’s about 4 stones off.

Welcome to our new joiners and if anyone is lurking, jump in, then still time to make a dramatic change but Christmas

2lbs down this week, kind of got a grip on myself, but it's haaaaard [whine]. Anyway, if I can shift 3 lbs next week, that means I start with a new number, and that will be over a stone off. I don't need chocolate, I don't need crisps, I need to drink the water instead Smile.

I want to be slim, I want to not hurt so much, I want to look better.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 27/05/2018 10:01

I need to not hit "post" by accident Wink.

Congratulations to everyone who's managed a loss (or not as big a gain as it could be), hope the weather's not affecting anyone too much, it's really muggy here, which helps me not want to binge, so that's something.

Off to drink another big glass of water.

RubySlippers77 · 27/05/2018 13:19

30 weeks till Christmas?! Confused

Actually if I lost 1lb a week till then I'd be within striking distance of my goal weight, but have two birthdays coming up next week, complete with cake and afternoon teas...

Well done to all the 'losers'! DP is still working, I'm trying to be productive whilst the DC nap and do lots of clearing out. Realised that I still want/ need to lose the equivalent of DS2 - and he's a chunky little chap!!

MindBodyChocolate · 27/05/2018 18:31

Well done to everyone. It’s not easy. I’ve had a lard fest at FIL’s this weekend so I don’t hold out a huge amount of hope for my next weigh in but keen to get back on it.

Good luck to everyone for next week :)

Twopointsforhonesty · 27/05/2018 18:44

Okay. I left MN a few months ago but I’m back again for this! Can I join too?

I’m 5’9 and 16 stone 8ib. I’ve lost 17 pound over the last month. Aiming for 11stone 10ib as that’s my look good and healthy weight.

I’m a hormonal eater. I’m like two different people depending when I’m at in my cycle and I’m quite extreme. Would love to have a thread to come to this this one!

MindBodyChocolate · 27/05/2018 18:57

Wow, 17lbs in a month!! That’s amazing. Are you following any particular plan? Good luck with the next month!

Twopointsforhonesty · 27/05/2018 18:59

No, just sensible eating and no eating after 7. I like lots of oats and fish and rice but no specific plan. I always lose fast at first. I won’t lose anything now for two weeks!

MindBodyChocolate · 27/05/2018 19:26

I’m not following anything specific - lots of salad and vegetables with good portion of protein. Also trying not to eat too late.

Twopointsforhonesty · 27/05/2018 19:35

I need more protein I think. I love carbs too much...

DickTERFin · 27/05/2018 20:09

Twopoints - I'm the same height and aiming for a similar weight. 17lb is amazing!

After three good fast days this week, I've had a couple of blow out days. Ate my body weight in crisps at an end of term picnic on friday, which I'm a bit annoyed at myself with because crisps are my nemesis and I've managed to stay away from them all month but once I start, I can't stop shovelling them in.

Then yesterday I ate three slices of madeira cake and a couple of cookies. Dang it.

Today has been better and I even managed to resist asking DH to get some ice cream when he went out to the shops this evening. I did make myself a banana milkshake to stave off the cravings but as I'm still 1000 calories off my TDEE today, I'll let myself off that one (and it was sooooo goooood).

Twopointsforhonesty · 27/05/2018 21:01

Well done! That’s some impressive resistance! Well, I’ve got sinusitis and no taste - you’d think this would help, wouldn’t you? But I stubbornly sat and ate a Chinese that I couldn’t even taste! What the hell is that about?!

mama2005 · 28/05/2018 09:50

Well done to all! Have chipped off another 0.5lb this week - weight loss slowing but in the right direction at least.

GreyandGrumpy48 · 29/05/2018 08:52

STS again this week. Not sure why I keep self sabotaging and eating when i’m not even hungry Confused. I think I need to believe I can actually lose weight. Anyone have any tips/good books they can recommend?

MindBodyChocolate · 29/05/2018 10:15

Hi Grey - what are you eating when you’re not hungry? My downfall is bread or toast with butter. I’d wander into the kitchen and eat it on autopilot- slices and slices every day :(

My strategies now are that I don’t eat unless it’s a mealtime. This has de-normalised snacking in general. If I am hungry or feel like eating something, the ‘rules’ are that I’ll have a glass of water first and then only eat fruit or vegetables. By the time I’ve drunk my drink, munched through an apple or chunk of pepper etc, the urge has usually passed. It is still a struggle as I think I was carb addicted, if you can be, but fingers crossed I’m retraining my brain not to automatically reach for the toast.
