I have to lose 5 stones. 6 would be better. My excess weight is not helping my health. It’s one thing to worry about how I look but it’s really holding me back now. I’m tired and achey.

I’m pushing 50 so I really ought to get a grip!

My plan is to generally be healthier and eat better, eat less and squeeze in some exercise. Which is tricky because I work really long hours.

I’m starting now. I ate a huge Belgian bun earlier while standing up putting shopping away. Things like that need to stop.

If anyone wants to join please feel free but I intend to post even if I just talk to myself.

If I’m successful I’m going to treat myself to new clothes for Christmas. I’m in elasticated waisted jersey trousers now, ugh!

MindBodyChocolate I had a similar moment when I saw some photos a friend posted on Facebook from her birthday; I just didn’t recognise myself. I’d gone out that night thinking I looked good in my new maxi dress, but all I saw in the pics was a huge frumpy woman wearing yards of material that just made me look a million times worse! I knew I’d got bigger, but I was in total denial as to how big, and had taken to wearing stretchy clothes so as I didn’t have to buy bigger sizes. I joined weight watchers the next week and weighed in at the same starting weight as you.

That was the end of January and this morning I weighed in and have now lost 27lb, so one more for my two stone :) My initial aim is to lose 6 stone, so I’m almost a third of the way there now and finding it easier than I thought I would.

That's great about your weight loss Just Smile** I'm still struggling to start the scales moving downwards again; had an ok day today but every day is a challenge Confused

Also, I have looked high and low but can't find my swimming costume that I wore on Wednesday to take the DC swimming!! It wasn't in the bag I brought home - thought it was wrapped up with my towel but no - not in the car and not even at the pool, I rang them but it's not in lost property. How strange, and annoying, I'll have to cough up £16 to Tesco for another tummy-holding-in swimsuit!

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 20/05/2018 09:00

posting to mark my place again on the thread (will go back and catch up). Have had a massive two month long blip, but am back for another go. At least I haven't put on any weight, AND I had some salad with pizza last night, rather than another slice of pizza Wink. Being (a bit more) mindful seems to be helping.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 20/05/2018 09:51

oh, glitter, thanks for chasing me when I went AWOL, maybe i should switch the email notifications on, so I can actually see when someone tags me Blush.

I really really need to get this weight gone, I have fibro (and possibly arthritis in my hips/lower back) and everything hurts all the time Sad. I know not carrying an extra 50% of body weight will help (duh!), but whenever the chocolate binge monster rears it's head, I totally forget and give in to the cravings.

I'm reading a book atm recommended on the FB group for the meal replacement people, which so far is pretty good (The Beck Diet Solution, it's CBT, but it's a case of finding someone who "speaks" to you, and this one might be it for me. Yesterday's step (it's a day by day re-train the brain kind of thing) was to find a diet buddy/mentor, which brought me back to this thread; I need some accountability, and a chance to explore my food issues without having to confess to RL people in RL that I'm basically a fat pig with no self-control whatsoever with other people who get where I'm at, and what I'm going though.

So, I'm back, and determined to be supportive in turn Smile. Absolutely nothing of this is anything to do with DHs sudden realisation that he's actually properly fat and not just a bit chubby, so has decided he's going to lose weight before the GP appointment he's been avoiding where he'll be told to lose weight. Can't have him beating me Wink. Ahem.

@cheesemumma - come out to play?

OP posts:
glitterbiscuits · 20/05/2018 14:30

@MyVisionsComeFromSoup - I have that book unopened next to my bed. Is it worth a try?
My motivation for dieting come from not feeling fit and strong so I know what you mean. If you’ve caught up I have had a few weeks of apathy. I’m a bit better now but not fully focused.
I am shattered and overworked. My contract ends in September and I will be broke but really happy.

Hi guys!!

So I joined slimming world again last week. We did the big country move a couple of weeks ago so are settling back in. I ended up in hospital last week though.

I can't remember what I was at the start of this thread but guessing around what I am now. So here we go again.....

How long till Xmas!!

RubySlippers77 · 20/05/2018 23:11

I'll have a look for that book too Visions!

Hello again cheesemumma and good luck with SW Smile

I will be back on it tomorrow.....

glitterbiscuits · 21/05/2018 08:00

I actually couldn’t weigh this morning. I got up 9 minutes before I had to start work!
I think it will be a good week.

Who is weighing this week?

OP posts:
RubySlippers77 · 21/05/2018 08:40

12st 9.5lb for me today, 1.5lb off since Thursday's horrific weigh in. Hoping that was a blip! I will keep Shredding before WW on Thursday...

GreyandGrumpy48 · 21/05/2018 08:48

Dropped off this thread for a bit as had a few relationship issues and my head wasn’t in the right place. Determined to get back on it today and will weigh in tomorrow for accountability. I’ll check out that book thanks visions I certainly need something to keep me focussed. Hope everyone else is doing well

mama2005 · 21/05/2018 09:40

Morning all! 1/2 lb off for me this week - not too bad after a big weekend!

mama2005 · 21/05/2018 09:44

Well done Ruby - and great to see you back cheese and grey! Glitter glad you're feeling more positive. Good luck to everyone for the week ahead!

mama2005 · 21/05/2018 09:45

Ooh and good to see you too visions!

MindBodyChocolate · 21/05/2018 11:12

Well done just - that’s a great loss. Very inspirational.

This weekend was a case of damage limitation as I had my birthday weekend away with dp in Amsterdam. It was amazing. Great food but didn’t overdo it. Scales this morning say 18st5 but given my capacity to put weight on, it could have been worse :)

As an aside I was so relieved to get on the plane and find I could do the belt up - that’s no way to be!! Extra motivation so I don’t ever have to worry again about fitting in a plane seat.

Back to it now. Will weigh again on Friday so hopefully I will have shed most of the weekend 2lbs or thereabouts.

JanesTeddy · 21/05/2018 20:56

Hi all, sorry I missed last week I weighed in but had the weekend away so put on. Luckily this week I have been good and undone the damage. Now just to strive to get back into it.

DickTERFin · 22/05/2018 14:01

Just posting to check in because although I did remember to get a battery for the scales last time I was in Sainsbury's, I forgot which size it was when faced with the choice and bottled out. So... I have no idea, still, what I weigh.

That said, I seem to have gained some momentum with the fasting and am doing 4:3 and keeping my calorie intake under my TDEE on non-fast days. I'm actually quite enjoying it and have a load more energy. Now the weather is better, I've started walking the kids to school again which is a 3 mile round trip and I'm going to start a Zumba class with my friend after half term - a month ago, I could barely get myself motivated to switch the TV over.

I haven't had any pancreatic pain since starting this and my mood has significantly improved which is motivation enough to keep going even if the weight is not coming off (I think I've lost something as my jeans seem a bit looser, but that could be wishful thinking).

By the end of this week, I will sort the wretched scales out.

GreyandGrumpy48 · 23/05/2018 08:29

Weighed in yesterday and have STS for the last fortnight which is probably as much as I could hope for. Going away in a few weeks so i’m determined to concentrate and lose a few pounds before I go. How’s everyone else doing?

cheesemumma · 23/05/2018 11:13

The morning all!!

Weighed in this morning and lost 1/2lb which means I've lost 9lb in 2 weeks which I'm happy about. So I'm 16st 101/2lb. I would love to loose 5lb next week to make it a stone and it's my brother's wedding next Wednesday. I'd like to look as nice as possible. And I've got a size 16 dress I need to be able to zip up!!

RubySlippers77 · 23/05/2018 13:38

Well done cheesemumma for the loss and to everyone else for their hard work - sometimes even a STS is a result!!

Been Shredding every day and am generally feeling better (apart from now having a twinge in my hip - can't win!) but it's back to WW tomorrow to face the chubby music... AF due Saturday and already I'm feeling the lure of the cake monster. Oh dear!

BigFatBloomers · 23/05/2018 14:11

Afternoon everyone.
Checking in quickly and late again but weighed yesterday.
Lost another 2lb so down to 14.11.
Really want to get (at least) another 2lbs off next week as I’ll then have done a stone.
Keep rocking and rolling!

Felicitycity · 23/05/2018 14:13

Hi Everyone
I am new.
Joined SW last Tuesday 14.2. First weigh in yesterday 14.1 - it's going to be a long slog to 11.7!!

Unicornwhisperer · 23/05/2018 14:42

Ooh! I have just found you! Is it too late to join please? I just weighed in at 14st2lbs and would like to lose 3st. I put on so much weight after relationship breakup (wine & cheese mainly), and need to get a grip. Some supportive friends to share ideas with would be lovely.

Felicitycity · 23/05/2018 15:37

We are the same weight Unicorn. I am 5' 6"( and a half!). How tall are you? I am keen to not be obese!! My BMI is now 31.3!!

RavenLG · 23/05/2018 21:02

Hope it's ok for me to join (I saw the updates asking for the people at the start of the thread to come back). I've been dieting for a month and lost close 9.8lbs. I have (from starting) about 8 stone to lose.
I mainly want to lose weight to get healthy. I'm only 30 but feel 60. I have poor mental health, self-esteem and general anxiety issues, I want to have kids and get married but can't see myself doing any of this in my current state. I have a friends hen party next year, and the activity planned is quite active so I desperately need to get fit for that as I'll be a laughing stock. Hope I can join in and update with success.
