Thin by Christmas! At least 5 stones to get rid of.

I have to lose 5 stones. 6 would be better. My excess weight is not helping my health. It’s one thing to worry about how I look but it’s really holding me back now. I’m tired and achey.

I’m pushing 50 so I really ought to get a grip!

My plan is to generally be healthier and eat better, eat less and squeeze in some exercise. Which is tricky because I work really long hours.

I’m starting now. I ate a huge Belgian bun earlier while standing up putting shopping away. Things like that need to stop.

If anyone wants to join please feel free but I intend to post even if I just talk to myself.

If I’m successful I’m going to treat myself to new clothes for Christmas. I’m in elasticated waisted jersey trousers now, ugh!

Yes, congrats to all - let's keep going! Am reminding myself why I'm doing this - want to feel healthy and in control of myself, and be a great role model to my children. I have a girls' weekend away coming up at the end of June, so that is my first focus. If anyone is lurking, come and join our glitter gang - no judgement here and I find it really helps to check in with everyone. Glitter, you'll find that balance - you are doing really well, and honestly, you have helped me so much by starting this thread - and keeping it going!

BigFatBloomers · 01/05/2018 15:40

2.5 off. Down to 15.2. I’m so pleased. I put off weighing yesterday as I didn’t think it was going to be positive.

Well done everyone else, the offers, onners and staying the samers. Keep on keeping on.

I’m basically cutting out carbs as much as possible and ‘trying to be good’. Hoping the proper good weather will return and we can all just eat lettuce Smile. (Still planning to read the Blood Sugar diet book again but don’t even know where it is at the mo).

I’m going to a festival next bank holiday weekend and I’d really like to be able to fit into a few more clothes. I’m pretty limited at the moment.

Wishing you all good weeks.

RubySlippers77 · 01/05/2018 23:20

Good point mama about remembering why we keep going. I'm still on holiday and (in some ways) really keen to get back to my pre-holiday routine - it's so difficult to eat healthily and do my exercise here. DS1 has been puking up for a couple of days, DP does his usual trick of ignoring his diet plan, and the in laws could faff for Britain and make us late for everything... I keep having indigestion and think my tummy appreciated simple, regular meals very much more!

Well done Bloomers, hopefully I will lose any post holiday pounds fairly quickly!!

glitterbiscuits · 02/05/2018 10:27

Seems we are all doing pretty well. I was asked if I’d lost weight yesterday! I mumbled and changed the subject
However I’m really pleased I’ve kept up with skin care, I’ve had a scar on my face for a couple of years and it’s fading. It never occurred to me to worry about it but I’m really pleased. And body lotion is such a faff but it feels lovely.
I just need to tighten up my diet as I’m drifting a bit. And drink more water instead of diet fizzy drinks.

Still no exercise though. The weekend has better weather forecast so I hope to get out for a wallflower nothing else.

Is anyone else doing more than weight loss?

mama2005 · 02/05/2018 14:02

Well, have been out walking daily - and am restarting yoga next week. Have treated myself to new exercise clothes too - to replace shabby old trainers etc!

RubySlippers77 · 05/05/2018 16:51

Is everyone still going?!

We are back from hols, both DC have viral gastroenteritis, I feel really rough - missing my healthy lifestyle very much!!

mama2005 · 05/05/2018 17:08

Yes ruby, I'm still here. Oh no, poor DC - and poor you! Hope you all feel better soon.

RubySlippers77 · 05/05/2018 18:19

Thanks mama - it's such a shame but I feel like this holiday has really set me backwards! DCs being ill, crap weather, change from my food/ exercise routine etc. It's sad but I'm looking forward to going back to normal on Tuesday and things settling down!

mama2005 · 06/05/2018 07:27

Such a shame when you need a holiday after your holiday (often the case these days I find!) - but you can do it Ruby!

FAF4 · 06/05/2018 08:23

I know I'm a little late in the day but I'd love to join. The hot weather arrived yesterday and I found trying to squeeze into anything from last summer just about impossible so not only am I big, I'm even bigger than last summer. I've found reading your comments inspirational and so today is the day! Well done with your journeys so far.

RubySlippers77 · 06/05/2018 08:54

Hi Faf, welcome! I had the same realisation earlier this year, decided enough was enough!! Last year I was bigger than I'd ever been and unhappy about that and in general. Did I stop eating so much?! Of course not, and now I have even more pounds to lose Sad

Still feeling rough mama. I need a child free and in law free holiday to get over this one!! DP (6 years older than me and 9 stone heavier) referred to us as 'a pair of old fatties' yesterday Hmm

glitterbiscuits · 06/05/2018 10:08

I’m still here but I have pulled or torn a muscle in my rib area while lifting something heavy so I’m feeling sorry for myself. Any sort of jarring movement hurts, going over a bump in the car is the worst and I can’t twist or turn.

I’m having a weekend of rest and will see how things are by Tuesday.

I am going to cut back on carbs a bit more from next week.

10 weeks or so until school summer holidays. And...33 weeks to Christmas!

OP posts:
mama2005 · 06/05/2018 11:24

How painful Glitter! Hope you do get some proper rest and see some improvement soon.

mama2005 · 06/05/2018 11:27

And welcome to you Faf!

FAF4 · 06/05/2018 13:28

Thank you for the welcome. I've just finished clearing out my cupboards in preparation!

RubySlippers77 · 06/05/2018 16:01

Ouch glitter! Enjoy your rest and hope you're all Rev

RubySlippers77 · 06/05/2018 16:02

Sorry - posted too soon!

Recovered soon, was what I was going to say...

And 33 weeks till Christmas?!? Confused

glitterbiscuits · 06/05/2018 17:01

Yes, so anyone joins us now could still do 5 stones by Christmas. Allowing for more weight loss the first 2 weeks and 2lbs a week after that.

Hot weather is no fun if you’re fat. I wish I’d started thread earlier

RubySlippers77 · 06/05/2018 20:11

33lb @ 1lb per week would more or less put me where I want to be, glitter. However all I can eat today is crisps, really feeling rough Sad

cherrytrees123 · 06/05/2018 20:21

Yes, i would like to join. I am 57 and four stones overweight. My health is suffering in all sorts of ways. My life is very stressful and I am really struggling to cope. My downfall is eating too much at meals and drinking too much. I don't really snack or eat rubbish. i am giving up meat as I find I can't digest it anymore and I don't think it's that great for health. I am not interested in cooking anymore and find the whole shopping and cooking thing a total chore.

In the past I have lost a lot of weight counting calories or doing low carb, but I cannot get a grip on it anymore. My weight is making me totally miserable. Diet clubs don't work for me. I need something easy to follow without loads of prep and cooking. I don't like junk food, I just hate being hungry.

I would like to know how others did it, what worked for them etc. I absolutely need to lose this weight. It is totally ruining my life. I am borderline diabetic, I am developing varicose veins and i suffer from indigestion. i can't believe this has happened to me, I am ashamed of myself and totally despondent.

FAF4 · 06/05/2018 20:44

Hi Cherrytrees I also joined today and have about four stone to lose. I'm 52 and totally understand your comments about your health. I really identified with your comments about being ashamed and despondent. It is really hard to motivate yourself sometimes isn't it, especially if you have a very busy or stressful life. Not being able to fit into anything yesterday and the heat has really focused my mind. I am going to do it and I joined this thread because I think it will help chatting with women in the same boat as me! I think the important thing is not to beat yourself up about it and just focus on one thing...losing weight to feel healthier and more in control. You can do it...you've just taken the first step.

Justabadwife · 07/05/2018 07:28

Ouch @glitter. Hope the pain starts to ease soon.
Down to 14st 11lbs so that's another 1lb lost.

mama2005 · 07/05/2018 08:55

Welcome cherry trees - you're in the right place here. Forget what's happened before - fresh start from now!

mama2005 · 07/05/2018 08:57

Well done just! 1.5 lbs off for me this week, so a total of 12.5 off.

Littlemissloopylou · 07/05/2018 14:08

Can I join in glitterbiscuits

Somewhere around 15st 9lb (will weigh in tomorrow). Struggling with depression, self hatred, lazyitus and chaotic eating/drinking habits. I tend to forget breakfast, don't get a dinner break at work so skip lunch and eat all evening. Got a pelvic disorder so exercise is limited.

Kick my arse if I don't update regularly.
