I have to lose 5 stones. 6 would be better. My excess weight is not helping my health. It’s one thing to worry about how I look but it’s really holding me back now. I’m tired and achey.

I’m pushing 50 so I really ought to get a grip!

My plan is to generally be healthier and eat better, eat less and squeeze in some exercise. Which is tricky because I work really long hours.

I’m starting now. I ate a huge Belgian bun earlier while standing up putting shopping away. Things like that need to stop.

If anyone wants to join please feel free but I intend to post even if I just talk to myself.

If I’m successful I’m going to treat myself to new clothes for Christmas. I’m in elasticated waisted jersey trousers now, ugh!

Evening everyone.
Well I put on 4lbs, so now 13st 10lbs.
I'm not really surprised though, I haven't sorted out an exercise plan and didn't really move much last week and ate far too much Easter chocolate!
But went back to work today and have done over 12,000 steps so hopefully will see a small loss soon.
Well done to everyone for sticking with it!

Stickerrocks · 16/04/2018 19:27

Real if you aim for 22, that will be 10% of your body weight, with a round of applause for l8sing 11 first and being 5% lighter.

RealRamona · 16/04/2018 19:50

Hello Ruby! I was so fed up of my D'S being under my feet after school that I went on the trampoline in the garden to get some peace!

I like your thinking, Stick, thank you! 11 pounds seems not too bad...not even a stone...

I'm joining a beginner's running club tomorrow eve (a ten week course). Mainly to get me moving AND get me out of the house more. I work from home a lot and easy access to the fridge has been my downfall.

Thanks for the welcome. Smile

glitterbiscuits · 17/04/2018 08:21

13 weeks until school summer holidays
36 weeks to Christmas

2 lbs a week would mean nearly 2 stones off for the start of summer
And the whole 5 stones gone by Christmas.

My fridge is groaning with salad and veg. I’ve too much fruit for the fruit bowl and I am determined to have a good week. The whole week.

I just wish I could fit in some exercise but I’m working long hours and trying to sort the house on the weekend it was a case of go swimming or paint my bedroom. Bedroom now pale yellow.

This weekend I’m going to try to do some gardening.

OP posts:
RealRamona · 17/04/2018 08:29

DIY and gardening count as exercise!

Also determined to have a decent loss by the summer hols. I spent last summer in leggings and long vests, avoiding the camera...never again.

BigFatBloomers · 17/04/2018 09:43

GettingBackToMe I didn’t notice feeling particularly tetchy on the blood sugar diet but that’s my default mode so perhaps I just didn’t notice Smile

Had a good day yesterday then went out for a friend’s birthday and kind of forgot it was Monday so had rather a lot of prosecco and came home and had lots of bread and butter before bed. Just why?!

Trying again today. Usual breakfast of yoghurt, fruit and seeds, and a pint of hot water with lemon and ginger.

Determined to eat healthily, be active and productive.

I bought a fat lady swimming costume with a skirt last year as I knew we were going to a water park during our holiday. I am not going to be that person again!

glitterbiscuits · 17/04/2018 10:23

Hello to our new arrivals please stick with us.

We have had quite a few people say they are joining us and then disappear so if you are reading this and lurking then come back and start again. I got off to a flying start then had 2weeks of gains

This is the year I am changing. A bad day or weeks or month should not be the end of everything. I’ve been guilty of starting eating and then thinking oh well, might as well carry on and start again another day.

Bloomers my love of swimming skirts is the one thing I won't be giving up when I am thin! When I think of all the time in my twenties that I wasted fretting over bikini lines/ingrown hairs - but now a cursory strim is all I need Grin

Sosog00d · 17/04/2018 11:12

Hi glitter et al

Can I just say I think you're all inspirational?!

I have 6 stones to lose. Have come through an horrendous couple of years and am changing my record.

I get quite sad/horrified when I think about how badly I have treated myself. How I have taken my physical health for granted.

In the last for years I have had a nervous breakdown, been in very precarious employment, ended an abusive, sexless marriage to name but a few.

Yes they have taken their toll but they're not at all what I am really about. I don't want to live in 'victim' mode anymore. It's so limiting.

Ive taken courses and studied Mindfulness, Mental Health First Aid, Coaching amongst others. Both to help me recover and build some skills.

Next up is the body beautiful. I feel so disconnected from myself, physically. The horrendous stress I was under led to frequent panic.attacks, night terrors, IBS, amongst other things. Virual physical paralysis, slow.movements...

They stopped virtually overnight once marriage ended. So, I know that time heals.

I know this is a lengthy post, but I've needed it!

glitterbiscuits · 17/04/2018 12:27

Soso - Well done so far! Think how cool it would be to lose the weight as well as the EXH.

Sounds like you deserve a break.

Post as much as you like. I’m usually moaning how busy I am. I work at home so no one to really listen in real life. When I started the thread I thought I’d be talking to myself.

Sosog00d · 17/04/2018 17:28

Thanks glitter

I'm going to read the thread properly, but first thoughts are
Low carb.... I know it works for me and I derive a good bit of energy from it
5 mins meditation every day...observe my thoughts ... but crucially, I'm.choosing not to believe them
20 mins daily exercise
Face oils for around mouth area
New eyeshadow/make up regime. Have same one since forever!

Stickerrocks · 17/04/2018 18:20

I bought a swimming skort and It's the tankini top which goes with it which is destroying me - huge bulky padded cups and enough volume to float by itself. I quite like the skort bit.

Mbear · 17/04/2018 19:37

Hello there! I’m back, sorry have been busy with work and dh off work so he’s been doing jobs around the house. Weighed this morning and 13st 10, so am happy. I feel so negative though as I want to continue to lose weight, not just lose a bit then stop! Onwards and upwards.

RubySlippers77 · 17/04/2018 23:41

Welcome Soso Smile

I've never owned a swimming skirt! Am I missing out here?! Bought one of the special tummy control swimsuits last time and actually it's quite effective! Just depressing when I take it off again...

Felt rough all day and not eaten much at all. Don't worry though everyone, I really am in no imminent danger of fading away!!

RubySlippers77 · 18/04/2018 09:33

At last some sunshine Grin but also the realisation that I STILL can't fit into my size 14 cropped trousers - depressingly last year was the first year I couldn't, and I promised myself then I'd lose some weight! Apparently first I gained some extra pounds to keep the original ones company Blush

glitterbiscuits · 18/04/2018 09:36

@cheesemumma - where are you?
Or should we leave you alone?

Hope all is ok

OP posts:
glitterbiscuits · 18/04/2018 09:41

Well, I look hideous in summer clothes so while I would welcome the sunshine it’s much better for me if it rains.
I also have ENORMOUS arms. I’d rather have thinner arms than a flat stomach. They are my most hated body part. So cardigans for me even in tropical weather.

I’m still feeling quite positive. Although today was the first day I forgot to moisturise my face since this started. It really is making a difference. Not sure the vitamins are doing anything for me though.

Aph413 · 18/04/2018 09:53

Can I join you? I need someone to harrass the living daylights out of me. Currently weigh somewhere around 17 stone 10. 5 foot 9 and carry my weight well Hmm so I haven't gone up from a size 18 despite 3 stone weight gain in the last few years.

Just joined a 24 hour gym to counteract the 15 hours I spend on my arse a day.

Goal is to lose 4 stone at least by December 1st because I'm going to New York to visit friends and I refuse to still be fat.

Aph413 · 18/04/2018 09:56

Although ideally I need to lose the full 6 to get me back into my healthy bmi range. But I'll take being under 14 stone for now, because then I'll weigh less than 200lbs and I'll feel much better.
Going to go vack and read the thread properly now.

glitterbiscuits · 18/04/2018 10:46

@Aph413 - sounds like you will fit right in. I’ma gym member. I never go though.

OP posts:
Aph413 · 18/04/2018 11:23

Thats always been my problem. Spend a fortune on gym memberships and healthy food that then sits in the fridge and rots while I eat takeaway.
I need to lose some weight I've started noticing a niggling knee pain and I know all this weight isn't helping it.
The main motivation is being able to sit comfortably in a plane seat. When I travel with my husband we put the armrest up and it stops the pinching. I can't do that when I'm sat next to a stranger so I need to make sure I fit in my own seat. I went last year and the seats were surprisingly small for a 7 hour flight.

RubySlippers77 · 18/04/2018 13:03

Hi Aph!

My friend has the same issue as you glitter, hates her arms. She wears floaty batwing style tops, usually 3/4 or full length - would that be an option? She says they're quite cool and prefers them to cardis.

I hate my tummy (wobbly post c-section muffin top and all!) but spent last summer boiling and in denial that I needed bigger clothes. This year I have bit the bullet and splashed out at Primarni. At least if I'm cool in shorts I'll be able to walk further and burn off more calories, right?! As long as it's not a walk to the ice cream van...

GettingBackToMe · 18/04/2018 15:50

I'm thinking maybe something like this to wear over vest tops, which looks a bit cooler than my cardies/bolero things (bikini NOT part of the plan!):

RubySlippers77 · 18/04/2018 16:28

That looks nice and cool Getting!

I've prepared a vegetable bake thing for tonight, it's currently in the oven making the kitchen even hotter. I think I would sell my soul for a Magnum Sad
