Thin by Christmas! At least 5 stones to get rid of.

I have to lose 5 stones. 6 would be better. My excess weight is not helping my health. It’s one thing to worry about how I look but it’s really holding me back now. I’m tired and achey.

I’m pushing 50 so I really ought to get a grip!

My plan is to generally be healthier and eat better, eat less and squeeze in some exercise. Which is tricky because I work really long hours.

I’m starting now. I ate a huge Belgian bun earlier while standing up putting shopping away. Things like that need to stop.

If anyone wants to join please feel free but I intend to post even if I just talk to myself.

If I’m successful I’m going to treat myself to new clothes for Christmas. I’m in elasticated waisted jersey trousers now, ugh!

Well done bowed.
I'm 4lbs down this week, sounds better than it is as I've not yet reversed the damage of a few 'off' weeks, but it's good to be back on track. Had a tricky couple of days food wise, but my period has started, so I'm blaming that.

mama2005 · 13/04/2018 15:27

Well done indeed Bowednotbroken! Am doing ok - visiting family which entails lots of special dinners, meals out etc, but making healthy (ish) choices. Will wait to see what Monday brings!

mama2005 · 13/04/2018 15:31

And well done to you too sleepyloris - you're on your way!

RubySlippers77 · 13/04/2018 23:00

Well done bowed and sleepyloris 👏

I spent most of the afternoon trapped with a sleeping DS2 on me - he's full of cold and refused to sleep except when draped over me - would have been ok but I have tons of cleaning to get on with! Plus it meant I couldn't make a healthy dinner, and DP came back with a curry instead Sad

RubySlippers77 · 14/04/2018 22:55

Did anyone succumb today and have an ice cream in the lovely sunshine?! I almost did, then caught sight of myself (large tummy and all) in a shop window and stepped away from the ice cream van Sad

GrimDamnFanjo · 15/04/2018 00:45

I'm popping in to join you all as I have to lose around 7 stone :(.
I started on 16 March and am down just over a stone so far. My next big milestone is a wedding on 1 June, I really want to have lost another 18 pounds by then, but it is a big ask.
I'm following the Blood Sugar Diet and doing as much walking as I can every day.
Finally thin by Xmas would be great!

glitterbiscuits · 15/04/2018 09:51

Hello Grim - welcome

I’ve had a mixed week diet wise. Started ok but lost the plot.

As I be said a few times I’m trying to keep up with skin care etc but I’m also trying to get to grips with decluttering and jobs around the house that need sorting. So this weekend we have had builders in.
He’s here now so I’m not only hiding but I’m bloody starving as he’s in the kitchen/ dining room.
Anyway, ended up with a pizza takeaway.

Sometimes Glitter - only a pizza will do! Be kind to yourself

RubySlippers77 · 15/04/2018 16:22

You will feel so much better once the little jobs are done though glitter! A pizza once in a while isn't going to derail you, especially as the alternative was going hungry Sad

I've spent a sad afternoon going through my clothes in the loft and realising how many I can't fit in at the moment. Some are packed away again till the day I'm a size 12 again, some are off to the charity shop. When I'm thin I'll have a great wardrobe...

The Harvester helped out my diet today by serving me a completely inedible lunch - it was dire - they took it off the bill and I ate my WW stuff in the car instead!

JustBeingJobless · 15/04/2018 19:29

I’m now 19lb down and feeling so much better for it! Hoping for another 2lb by weigh in on Friday to make my stone and a half. I’m starting hydrotherapy at the end of May which means wearing a swimsuit, something I’ve avoided for years, so hoping to lose another stone by then, otherwise I’ll be looking for a wetsuit instead Grin

RubySlippers77 · 16/04/2018 07:06

Well done Just!

Weighed in today, no change for me. Sigh. I'm eating healthily, doing HIIT every day and walking at least 10K - what do I have to do to shift a measly pound?!

GreyandGrumpy48 · 16/04/2018 07:18

Well done Just. I’ve dtayed the same too but given the week i’ve had I ‘ll take it. Really frustrating for you though Ruby - have you measured? Sometimes I find I lose inches even when the weight isn’t moving.

Justabadwife · 16/04/2018 08:19

What a palava ive just had.
We had dneice to stay last night, so there is a mattress on dds bedroom floor (where I weigh myself using her wii) so I positioned the wii board on a funny angle, and it said I had put on 8lbs (since a cheeky weigh in on friday) I wasn't having any of that. So I had to move the mattress and put the wii board in the middle of the floor straight on at the tv, and thankfully the scales were wrong the first time.
I'm down another 1lb. If I can get down 2lbs this week, I will be under 15st 😃😃

Stickerrocks · 16/04/2018 08:42

Congratulations Just. I'm going to settle for a grand total of 18.5lbs off now, as the scales are showing 14-9.5. Today is quite a stressful day work-wise, so I will either eat barely nothing or make a total pig of myself. I must resist....

mama2005 · 16/04/2018 09:29

I am 0.5 lbs down this week - now 14st 10.5 lbs - happy with this after a week of meals out. Well done everyone. How frustrating Ruby - sounds like you are doing all the right things.

glitterbiscuits · 16/04/2018 09:45

16st 5 lbs

So down 2lbs but still up from my lowest.

I wonder how much was the dead skin from me feet?.......

OP posts:
glitterbiscuits · 16/04/2018 09:53

MY feet.

GettingBackToMe · 16/04/2018 10:57

glitterbiscuits snap again this week - I lost 2lb which is definitely better than nothing!

I’m hoping for a more dramatic loss next week as the kids are back to school so it will be easier to do more walking taking them there and back. 🤞

JanesTeddy · 16/04/2018 12:12

Hi again from me.

I have lost 5 lb!

So have now lost 45lb in total. Hurrah.

Im putting it down to dog walks and not eating my normal chocolate rations and cakes.

BigFatBloomers · 16/04/2018 13:11

Hi everyone
Mind if I come and join you?
I am 52, 5’4” and currently weigh 15st 9. This is the largest I’ve ever been but I’m putting it down to my age, menopause and the anti depressants I’m on.

My poor body is struggling with being this size - plantar faciitis, dodgy knee - and I’m running out of clothes to wear. Most of this weight has gone on in the last year or so. When I reached 15 st, I said it would only go down from then on but that doesn’t seem to have worked.

I walk my dog everyday but don’t do any exercise other than that.

DH has a manual job so can eat so much more than me (although even he has a sizeable beer belly these days), and we do have snacks things in the house for him and DCs.

I did quite well on the blood sugar diet for a few weeks last year so I think I need to get back on that. I used to 5.2 very successfully but that was when I worked in a busy office with no time to stop for lunch or think about food. Now, I do a bit of work from home so I’m less busy and much closer to the toaster!

I am rubbish at keeping my own rules but much better about doing things for other people, so if you could all keep me in line that would be brilliant. I’d like to get to 10st but a couple of stone by the summer holidays would be brilliant.

(Sorry for the essay)

JanesTeddy · 16/04/2018 15:13

@BigFatBloomers, Hi nice to hear from you, I'm sure Glitter will be along soon for a welcome.

I'm not good at following my own rules so need some type of structure and lots of mini goals.

GettingBackToMe · 16/04/2018 16:18

JanesTeddy that is brilliant well done!

Hi Bloomers - I'm so bad at following my own rules too, but am trying to think about this in terms of doing it for my sons so I will be around longer for them. Morbid, yes, but I need something harsh to keep me away from the freezer.

How did you find the blood sugar diet? I tried it for 2 weeks last year and lost weight but I was soooooo tetchy and short fused with the kids I had to stop. Maybe will try it again soon but with more vitamin b's!

RealRamona · 16/04/2018 16:21

Place marking so I can catch up later!

RealRamona · 16/04/2018 17:36

Ok if I jump on? What a sensible and inspirational thread! Thank you glitter for starting it.

5.8 and 221 pounds (I daren't convert to stones). Need to lose 4 stone, and hoping for 2 by beginning of school hols 20/07!). The next two by my birthday in mid November.

Have been arsing about with no fixed plan since Jan, always managing a few days then finding an excuse to binge and start next week.

Gently upping my exercise and making better food choices is my plan. Less drinking too!

Smile
RubySlippers77 · 16/04/2018 18:13

Hello Bloomers and Ramona!

I caved in earlier and had a Freddo - in fact two - I was so utterly exhausted and craving a bit of sugar, and it was the smallest 'treat' I could think of! Massive headache now, not from the Freddos but the DC, who will not leave me alone for 5 minutes at the moment. We have plenty of toys and a garden but they're just under my feet constantly... doesn't help that DP is rubbish and very rarely looks after them on his own Sad

Planning an energetic day tomorrow to make the most of the sunshine, wear out the DC and work off the Freddos!!
