I have to lose 5 stones. 6 would be better. My excess weight is not helping my health. It’s one thing to worry about how I look but it’s really holding me back now. I’m tired and achey.

I’m pushing 50 so I really ought to get a grip!

My plan is to generally be healthier and eat better, eat less and squeeze in some exercise. Which is tricky because I work really long hours.

I’m starting now. I ate a huge Belgian bun earlier while standing up putting shopping away. Things like that need to stop.

If anyone wants to join please feel free but I intend to post even if I just talk to myself.

If I’m successful I’m going to treat myself to new clothes for Christmas. I’m in elasticated waisted jersey trousers now, ugh!

Well done to everyone for the losses, and to glitter for sticking to the skincare regime! I take a Berocca tablet in the mornings and think that's really helped with my energy levels - I have low iron reserves too so take an extra iron tablet.

3lb off for me this week Grin I think it's about 1lb weight loss and 2lb post-AF bloating gone, but never mind, I'm still chuffed! Now to keep it off till WW weigh in on Thursday...!

Babyplaymat · 09/04/2018 08:58

Can I join you? My weight has crept up over the last few years...I was about 11 stone pre kids and am now probably 15 something. Blush I'm 5'8" so carry it ok, but am definitely a chunky size 18.

My issue is snacking, I've treated food as a treat for so long that eating normal meals has lost all appeal.

Mayonnaise is a big killer for me, I eat lots with meals.

DH is 6'4" and could do with losing some, so maybe I'll rope him in.

The kids eat well but are picking up my snacking tendancies which is not good.

RubySlippers77 · 09/04/2018 11:27

Hi babyplaymat!

I know what you mean about the snacking - I've really had to cut down on the snacks and make the effort to have something which fits in with the WW plan. Not saying I find it easy now but getting into a routine helps.

I had to go cold turkey on the mayo too!

It's hard to put yourself first when you have small DC - mine probably watch more Peppa than they should - but as I'm using the time to make healthier meals, I reckon it's ok for now...

ShoopShoop · 09/04/2018 11:38

Morning All. Is there room for a small large one?? I've been quietly stalking you all reading through the thread for the last few days and I think I've found my people.

I'm 35, and seriously struggling with my weight. Have done for years. I weighed myself last Monday and I was 97kg Shock. I'm 94.6kg today (baby steps).

I work full time and have a 1.5hr commute each way. I also have a 6 year old DD. Time is not something I have in abundance, but something has to give. I can't continue like this. We've got a history of various horrible illnesses in the family and I'd like to be here for a few more years yet! So need to sort myself out.

I've been logging everything on MFP for the last week, switching from wine to G&T Blush and getting in my 10,000 steps a day. I've just signed up to Rebelfit too.

I'm only 5ft 4, so look horrendous. I'd like to weigh 70kg (even though that's still above my ideal BMI). I haven't been that weight since I was about 16 years old. Not sure I'll get to that by Christmas, but we'll see.

Anyway, sorry about the self indulgent essay. Looking forward to getting to know you all Smile

constantflux · 09/04/2018 12:14

Can I please join? I started to try and lose the weight on 27.02 after reading this thread 😊, and have lurked ever since.

I weighed 232lbs on 27.02, and I'm 5ft 7. I've got 7stone to lose ideally - I've rounded it up to 100lbs just for completeness. I was 140lbs pre baby and had a little to lose back then.

I've been going to slimming world but mainly for the set weigh in and weekly 'reset'. Having that weigh-in and accountability helps me to not fall off the wagon, and breaks what is going to be a long slog into little chunks. I don't follow the slimming world plan religiously, i just generally eat healthy/less processed stuff and calorie count etc too.

I walk about 5 miles a day, minimum, but have a vague plan to join a gym in a few weeks once I can fit into joggers without my wobbly arse looking like two wrestling ferrets in a sack. Eventually I'll go back to running once I can do so without ruining my knees/blinding innocent passers-by.

So far my weigh ins have been:

Week 1: -9lbs
Week 2: -5lbs
Week 3: -4lbs
Week 4: -4lbs
Week 5: -2.5lbs

Total so far 24.5lbs and one dress size off but slowing down now - it's come off quickly at first presumably because I have such a lot to lose, but is becoming more reasonable. I weigh in on Tuesdays

I want to lose the lot by Christmas, and as much as possible by the end of October when I have a holiday booked. It's probably not possible to lose it all by October though - I'd need to lose 2.5lb a week for that.

cheesemumma · 09/04/2018 12:57

I'm in guilty hiding. How is everyone going? My friend that I was slimming with has left work so have no scales- though if I did I know it wouldn't be bad. I'm in a country where it's not easy to get your hands on a pair of scales (truth honest) but get back to uk in less than 3 weeks yay!!! I plan on joining slimming world, even if it motivates me for a little bit so I don't climb back up to what I was!!!

Oh my goodness @glitterbiscuits only 7lb till you're in the 15 soooooo exciting. Well done you!

glitterbiscuits · 09/04/2018 14:34

Unfortunately cheese it’s a gain of 8lbs over two weeks.

I have seen 15 but not in April.

Feeling much more determined now. I truly hate being fat and unlike many things in life I can change this on my own!

Stickerrocks · 09/04/2018 17:41

I am 14 something now and possess the Babyliss big hair petite hot brush. It is rather marvellous, but I cut off my hair a few weeks ago nd it's starting to gather dust.

If you lack scales, measure your progress in waistband. Find something too snug and see how long it takes to become wearable again.

Mbear · 09/04/2018 21:09

14st 1 today - no loss, but then only joined mid week last week. Still a bench mark - although not one I appreciate.

Evening snacking is def an issue, but I quite often don’t really eat in the day, but will have 3 lattes, so work on that being my food, but I don’t think it is. Whatever I’m doing, it’s not working so need to change it up.

JanesTeddy · 09/04/2018 21:35

Sorry to be late today. I weighed this morning

1lb off

Which I suspect is because losses so far have been so high.

It does make a nice round total of 40lb gone just another 100 to go!
I have really upped the walk exercise not quite up to 10k steps but am at 8k.
I only wish the weather would be better so could walk more in the evenings.

GettingBackToMe · 09/04/2018 22:47

Hey, can I join you all?
I weighed myself 2 days ago and was exactly the same as you glitterbiscuits
Need to lose 5 stone to get back to the healthy weight I once was. Hence my symbolic name-change! I have made quite a few (countless!) false starts over the last few years, but I am resolved not to fall back on to the Haagen-Daz this time. If I could be somewhere near to my old self again by Christmas that would be an amazing present.

Stickerrocks · 09/04/2018 23:38

Hi getting - Don't forget to keep the nice bits of the current you too e.g.. chubbier people have fewer wrinkles!

Stickerrocks · 09/04/2018 23:39

Janes wow! I would love to see the back 9f 40lbs. We'll done.

RubySlippers77 · 10/04/2018 13:06

Hi everyone and well done Janes for your loss so far!! I am only 6lb in, 35 to go...

Has anyone found that their feet have shrunk after losing weight? I was always a size 5, after having the DC I'm now a 6, but then I have a good 2 stone to lose still. I've been clearing out the loft and am deciding whether to keep my lovely size 5 shoes - some of them are beautiful but if I'll never fit in them again they may as well go to the charity shop and benefit someone else!

sleepyloris · 10/04/2018 19:10

Can I join? I've been losing weight slowly (very up and down) since October when I weighed in at 15st7 (not great on my 5ft3 frame). Got down to 14st3 by early March, but weighed in at 14st11 last Friday. Haven't been below 14st for about 5 years so was gutted to get so close then blow it. Been on Slimfast since Friday, felt like I needed a quick boost to get me back on track. Been really good so far, logging all my calories on my Fitbit.
I've been following this thread for a while, hoping joining in will help keep me on track.
My first goal is to lose around 20lb over the next 10 weeks as I'm off on an activity holiday with the kids I teach - and a load of young, super fit teachers. They've already decided we should start each day with an early morning swim! The thought of my mid 40s flabby body joining in is not good. I'm not going to be beach body ready by then, but I'll settle for feeling comfortable in a skirt and t-shirt and lounging on the side of the pool.
Rubyslippers- I'm also curious about whether or not my feet will lose weight. I've got some shoes that I haven't worn since DS2 was born. I almost got rid of them but my mum convinced me your feet get bigger when you put on weight (mine have certainly got wider). I've hung on to them in the hope they will one day fit again.

GettingBackToMe · 10/04/2018 21:38

Stickerrocks that had occurred to me, but I'm not sure how to stop the wrinkles coming in if my face deflates! I'm slack at moisturising routines at the best of times, but think I will have to look for miracle creams. I have greying hair already, so if my face goes too I will look ancient.

Not sure about the shoes either, my feet grew after DCs too, but I wasn't sure if it was a pregnancy hormone thing or an extra weight thing. Will be interested as there are some lovely pre-children boots in my loft that don't quite fit any more.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 10/04/2018 23:51

Hello, I've just RTF and would like to join, if I may? I think this is the place for me!

I will be 40 in January and would really like to be slim by then.
I weigh 13st6 and am 5ft2 so look like a barrel. I need to lose 5st to be a healthy bmi.
I just eat too much and I need to stop.

glitterbiscuits · 11/04/2018 08:36

@Stickerrocks and @mama2005 The foot thing has worked! I’m shedding foot skin all over the carpet.
I have taken photos which I could post? Probably seeing my feet will put everyone off food for the rest of the day. So could be doubly helpful....

Hoping the loss of skin will make amends for my fluctuations with healthy eating.

Great news about the footcuddler Glitterbiscuits I have been eyeing them up on amazon so I will place an order. I have kept to plan for the last 2 days but I have a dinner with the in-laws tonight which i’m dreading. Anyone have any tips how to cope with a difficult MIL without resorting to eating too much?

mama2005 · 11/04/2018 08:56

Ooh @glitterbiscuits, yes, let's see the results please! Need something drastic myself. And hello to everyone - special welcome to those who've just joined.

glitterbiscuits · 11/04/2018 08:59

Ok. Those of a nervous disposition look away now

glitterbiscuits · 11/04/2018 09:09

Grey my mother in law was very difficult too. I don’t envy you. DH was her only child and the sun shone out of his every pore! She was obsessed.

OP posts:
mama2005 · 11/04/2018 09:14

@glitterbiscuits - wow, it really is working! Will def check it out on Amazon. @GreyandGrumpy48, sorry to hear about your tricky MIL.

BluePony · 11/04/2018 09:15

Can I join? I need to lose four stone!

sleepyloris · 11/04/2018 09:30

Glitter - that looks amazing, how do your feet feel now?

Grey - my MIL is a terrible cook, so the one thing I don't have to worry about is overeating when I'm there.

I'm feeling good this morning, after a few weeks of pigging out which ended with me feeling like an inflated balloon, I feel I'm back on track. Last week I could feel my belt getting tight and this morning I realised I'm not far going down a notch. Just got to keep up with the positivity and avoid sabotaging the good work.
